2014 Rankings: Top-200 | Top-200 (Half-PPR) |  Top-200 (PPR) | QB | RB | RB (PPR)| WR | WR (PPR) | TE | TE (PPR) | K | DST | IDP Rankings: Top-100 | DL | DB | LB

As stated in the Standard Top-200 Overall Rankings, this is not a mock draft, nor are theses rankings based on 2013 stats. This is a list of guys I like. Maybe I have a crush on them, and to be honest, I wouldn’t mind going on a date with them. Because what’s this life for if people aren’t buying you dinner? Trust me, it’s worth nothing. And yes, there will be things you like about the things I like. There will be things you dislike about the things I like. And there will me saying ‘things’ too much. In retrospect, the word ‘like’ shows up a bit too much as well. And there will déjà vu from the Standard Top-200 lede, because of the modern wonder known as copy and paste, but hey, you can’t win them all. But you can win some. And you might lose some. No clue where I’m going at this point. ALL THE DIGRESSION. So yeah…

Note: These rankings are for PPR Leagues with 12 teams. Remember, this is not where I would draft these players necessarily, but where I think their end of season value will place them. And the tiers aren’t really tiers here. They also are not tears. C’mon buddy. They are just friendly bookmarks to represent the rounds in a draft. Thank me later. Actually, no, thank me now. NOW.

Fantasy Football Rankings powered by FantasyPros
  1. Lemme get the feelies out of the way: Jay, I’ve commented and read on most every article you’ve put this year on Fantasy Football, and I’ve enjoyed em all. Keep em coming! I’d love to see general comments on why you went, say, 10 or 20 spots different on a player’s rank vs. other experts, but that’s me just wanting to pick your brain.

Overall for this PPR list, I’m liking that I see some good WR towards the top. Even in my buddies PPR league, RBs go fast first. If they keep that up, I wouldn’t mind winding up with 3 huge playmakers. I think it’s more fun to have a player that can throw up a 40 on the board any given day, though I’m not sure if it works in the long run. But there’s no guarantees in this game, so go big and work it out from there. If nothing else you build huge trade value.

And if Greg Olsen works out the way you think (and I kinda think) he will this year, then grabbing him with the 80th pick like he’s going know with the possibility of stacked WRs… sploog. Really that’s the best advice I’d give anyone here who, like me, plans to use your ranks at the draft. Make an Excel, subtract Jay’s rank from the ADP/Expert rank (or if you use ESPN, their ranks, or Yahoo’s ranks and use theirs, etc.) and find the undervalued and overvalued players. As Jay said these arn’t his draft ranks, so just use it to spot value and avoidance when needed. Always be smarter than the equipment/program you use.

@Boykin the Girl Nextdoor: Thanks. And yeah, we’re going to be looking at my rankings compared to ESPN, Yahoo, the ECR (the consensus average of all experts) and also be going spotlighting certain guys. This will be happening this month and next, so stayed tuned!

I play in a PPR league with two IDP’s. We give points for punt and kickoff return yardage as well. I’d love to see a column addressing those regular players that get a fair amount of return yardage that enhance their value. Also, any comment about fringe players and IDPers would be nice too.

@Steve: Yeah, we’ll try to cover something like that soon, just keep bugging me if you don’t see any content on that.

As for IDP leagues, you should check out the IDP report that Kevin takes care of, great stuff.

Keeper PPR league, each year we choose one guy (who was drafted after round 6) to keep for the next two years. Coming out of the season last year my clear choice was Josh Gordon. Now it seems like a lost year for Gordon, so I’m stuck choosing between 1 year of Gordon or 2 years of Cordarelle.

Obviously I’ll wait as long as I can hoping for clarification on Gordon’s situation, but if I had to choose today I’d have to go with Cordarelle right?

    • Jay

@farcus: Yup. It’s pretty clear that Josh Gordon wants to hit rock bottom.

        @Jay: gracias.

Non-ppr keeper question — JC Superstar and Graham are locks, but pick a third from these:

    A.Ellington
    V.Cruz
    E.Sanders
    M.Crabtree
    R.Wilson

no limit to how long they can be kept and our keepers merely count as our first three picks. Also we get bonuses for 100yd rush/rec days and 2, 4, and 6 pt bonuses for TD runs/catches of 40+, 60+ and 80+ yds, respectively.
    Thanks!

      @fallex: I’d lean Ellington here.

Great article. Entering my first money league using half point PPR. Definetely going to use this list going into my draft. Looking forward to your article comparing your list to yahoo! Adp.

Do you have any rookie rankings? Can’t find them anywhere. Can you give a link. Or list the top rbs

@Todd: I’ll probably look into this in the coming weeks. We’ll be doing a dynasty top 200 most likely, and in the mean time, you should check out some of our NFL Draft coverage: http://football.razzball.com/category/2014-nfl-draft

For what it’s worth, I love Sankey this season.

  7. Wilsonian says:

Shallow league, 0.5 PPR – we keep two and must be of different positions. These are my options:

    Dez
    Graham
    Forte
    Green
    Bernard

TDs are 6, and there are 3 point and 6 point bonuses for yardage totals per game for both rushing and receiving.

Looking at Forte as a lock and either Dez or Graham. I’m picking 6th, so either one of those guys that I don’t pick won’t fall back to me.

@Wilsonian: I’d lean Graham here… the WR depth this season works in your favor.

@Jay: That’s the way I was leaning, thanks!

    Hey Jay,

I have a pretty dumb league that I play in with my family for relatively little stakes. It’s PPR with 6 points for throwing TDs and also…it’s auto draft so the females have a chance. With all that said I still really, really like winning.

Aside from putting these rankings in I was just hoping to get your perspective on strategy for something like this. For instance would you slot certain positions in certain rounds? For example first two rounds best available, third round Draft QB, fourth round get WR…etc.

Thanks in advance for any advice, your work and thoughts are much appreciated,
    Fonz

      Jay says:

Yeah, I’d probably stack a few “zones” if you will, to make sure I got a target I really wanted. But to mitigate risk, I’d make sure to stack up RB and WR, that way if you get two, it won’t ruin your setup. For QB’s and TE’s, I’d try to be a ninja and assume a name that will be there and stack accordingly.

Very unique rules, but it’s for the ladies. I’m okay with that.

Jay…need to lock in my 5 keepers. League is 10 team Yahoo PPR league. We start 1QB, 2RB, 3 WR and a flex. Which 5 would you keep?

    Russell Wilson Sea – QB
    Andre Johnson Hou – WR
    Keenan Allen SD – WR
    Roddy White Atl – WR
    Andre Brown Hou – RB
    Fred Jackson Buf – RB
    Dennis Pitta Bal – TE
    Andre Caldwell Den – WR
    Danny Woodhead SD – RB
Cecil Shorts III Jax – WR
Robert Griffin III Was – QB
    Marcus Lattimore SF – RB
    Robert Woods Buf – WR
    Knile Davis KC – RB
    Jordan Reed Was – TE

      Jay says:

@Coopers Clux Clan: Allen, Johnson Woodhead, RG3, Reed. Just to kinda fill in your roster gaps a bit and spread it out.

      • Coopers Clux Clan says:
        (link)

@Jay: Would you try and trade a pick for Stacy? His owner is putting him on the block and was thinking I should go after him because of my crappy RB shituation.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Coopers Clux Clan: I would. I like him this season, but to be fair, I’m one of the few.

          • Coopers Clux Clan says:
            (link)

@Jay: Thinking toss Reed or RG3 back and look to grab them again in the first 5 picks then?

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

Eh, maybe. I’m actually at a coin toss, but I’m thinking of dropping Woodhead. A lot of people think Brown will vulture, but I’m not so sure. You’d have an easier time picking him back up probably.

      • Coopers Clux Clan says:
        (link)

@Jay: Also this league historically cannibalizes RB through the first rounds. Top unproven rookies even garner picks in the top 5 rounds.

  10. Still looking for a Prtetty girl From Indiana... says:

I’m taking over a team in a half point ppr / IDP / 20 team keeper Yahoo league. Have played IDP, but never ppr or 20 teams which seems huge to me (that’s what she said).
All 6 pt TD’s, passing gets point per 50, receiving point per 20, passing +.25 / – .25 completions / incompletions. Everything else looks standard.

Draft is tomorrow night – my mental math sucks, so use your ppr or standard rankings?
Do I still stick with my normal 12 team league strategy of RB – RB or go different with 20 teams?
I have 8th pick (7th because a team has used #1 pick to keep Luck – we’re in Indy), no idea but may be looking at Graham, Manning, Lynch, Ball, Thomas – what to do?
Keepers are Alex Smith round 10 ( good enough for qb1 in 20 team league?) and Helu round 16.
How soon would you draft an IDP? (D, D, DB, DB, DB, LB, LB, LB) Enough to go around in a 20 team league?

Any help is appreciated – don’t want to embarrass myself and not use to drafting this early – my fantasy baseball leagues are keeping me way to busy. Thanks. Enjoy your work and also the IDP stories by KK.

        @Jay:

I just addressed the IDP portion of the question over on that post, but I’d agree that PPR rankings tend to be the best proxy for .5 PPR leagues.
