Keeping julio. Would you still take freeman?

  2. Bobby says:

Have the 4th pick ppr Jordan Howard my keeper lose last round pick.

Problem is David Johnson, Odell, ajayi, jordy Nelson, Mike Thomas, crowder, crowell are keepers Elliot isn’t a top 4 pick anymore

Talk me out of taking aj green instead of lesean McCoy and pairing Jordan Howard with Lynch or mixon

Or u like McCoy and get Brandin cooks or something McCoy projected to miss 5.3 games this year

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Bobby: I’m okay with that setup, but it’d be hard to do personally. I honestly think that McCoy may lead the Bills in receptions this year, a boon in PPR.

      • Bobby says:
        (link)

@Jay: ok if you went McCoy get to to keep j Howard what would you do in the 2nd and 3rd round if Lynch,, Gronk, Brandin cooks, Thomas, Amari cooper, Hopkins, Kelce

Who would be your top priority at pick 21?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Bobby: I’d probably go Cooks or Cooper, those are probably my favorite names in that range. Baldwin too, if he’s there.

  3. David says:
    (link)

    I’m in a 10-team ppr, h2h, keeper league, 2QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex, DST. Its an auction league & I can keep up to 5 players, plus a $250 team budget (18 total roster spots). Current keepers w/ value:

    Cam 10
    Ben 15
    Zeke 41
    Julio 53
    Kelvin 2

#1, is there any merit in keeping Zeke? League rules has a 3 year cycle whereby keeper values goes up 1.5x every additional year. Zeke will be going into year 2. In your opinion, is keeping him for worst case 10 games + whole of 2018 at this value worth it over say keeping Bilal Powell @$1 and using that money to try to win Bell, Murray, or any one of these great RB rookies (who I think will make it to auction).

#2, I’m being offered Pryor (@$1) for Wentz ($5) & Kelvin. I’m torn between keeping Ben over Wentz. As great as Ben is, he is old & hasn’t played a full season since 2014. Ben’s cost is going up for me to $15 from $10 this year, and will rise 1.5x going forward each year for me. Whereas Wentz has a great value, great future ahead, and a lot of weapons to succeed as a top 10 QB. What are your thoughts with this thinking? I know your projections, but I need to keeping thinking ahead. On the other hand, if I do keep Ben, Wentz is dispensable and this trade is a choice between which WR is better and I agree with you on Pryor being better.

Note, positional importance in my league is QB, WR, RB due to scoring system.

    • David says:
      (link)

Want to restate that after year 4, players return to auction, so this will be my last year for Ben

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@David: Yeah, then holding Wentz for next year makes a lot of sense too.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@David: 1 – I think it depends on if you can try to buy him back in open bidding. I can’t imagine him going for more than 41 if you throw him back. But if you think someone would, then yeah, I think it sucks, but in the end, it’ll be worth it to keep him.

Bilal at a buck is just so tempting though…

2 – Yeah, I’d hold on Wentz, and I still think Kelvin has great value at 2. Pryor is great and the hype is strong, but I like your side better right now.

  4. AJ says:
    (link)

Jay, 10 team superflex ppr can keep two of the following. Also ha e 4th pick

    M. Thomas Rd 10
    D. ADAMS Rd 18
    J. Graham Rd 16.

Do I keep Thomas and Adams and Draft Julio #4 or do you take Rodgers at 4? There will be about 8 of the top 20 Qbs kept.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@AJ: I’d keep Thomas and Adams, for sure. And at 4, I’d go for Rodgers in a superflex, not even close.

      • AJ says:

        @Jay:

        Thanks

    Thanks!

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: Yeah, my rankings will be updated tomorrow, so the injury should be reflected soon. Thanks for the heads up Joey!

  7. nightpandas says:
    (link)

    Jay,

Was planning on keeping Winston, Cooper, Gurley (can only keep 1 per position).

Got offered a deal of my Ajayi/Winston for his Carr/Gronk….so my keepers would be Gronk, Cooper, Gurley…seems like a no brainer…

    • nightpandas says:
      (link)

      @nightpandas: 12 team, .5ppr, 3 keepers

    • Nightpandas says:
      (link)

      @nightpandas: sorry Cousins not Carr

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Nightpandas: hmm, that changes it a bit, but consolidating your keepers should still favor you here.

  8. Bobby's world says:
    (link)

Hey Jay! It’s the best time of the season, Draft time, my draft is approaching this Sunday the 27th & I can’t wait!

.5 PPR league it’s espn style keeper league im keeping David Johnson & Melvin Gordon.

Rounds 1 & 2 are dedicated for keeper selections, round 3 starts the snake draft, I am pick 9 out of 10 teams.
Since I’ll have two RBs to start the draft would you target a WR like Michael Thomas, Dez Bryant, Cooks, Amari Cooper or doug Baldwin to be my WR1? Or what about if Gronk is there at 9 take him over one of those WRs?

Now the following round I’ll have pick #2 use that for another WR or if Christian mcfaffrey or fournette (doubt it) is there to go for one of them ?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Bobby’s world: so close, I know! And yeah, I’d go WR, but if Gronk is there, it’s fine to pick him up. And to follow up, I’d go nest available.

      • Bobby's world says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Thanks man! Let’s say I don’t go with Gronk since I’m in a draft with a bunch of pats fans he may be gone before the 9th pick, if that’s the case which TE would you target? Rudolph, Fleener bounce back? Jack Doyle , hunter Henry, Evan Engram, or Jared cook who’s now on Oakland?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Bobby’s world: Been aiming for Doyle or Henry late, I like those two guys.

  9. mrm3711 says:

Hey Jay, have you guys done a general draft pick trade value post and/or chart? My league is enabling pre-draft trades for the first time, and I’m weighing the price for getting another 1st round pick. 12-team standard league with a flex, I have the 1st pick and have been offered the 2nd pick along with a pick around 100 overall for 24 and 25. Struggling to figure out how to calculate, any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@mrm3711: Good question… we haven’t before, but let me take a look at it and see if I can make something out of it for the readers…

    • When Buying Gifts Don't Confuse the Diary of Hans Frank and Anne Frank says:
      (link)

@mrm3711: shit this would be useful, but in almost all instances it’d be hard to say what a pick “in a vacuum” means since except for a 1st year dynasty draft since players (the good ones) are kept already. here’s one idea though:
taking jay (or anybody’s) auction values, rank them top to bottom (bottom being your replacement level player) and then attach that value to each pick. top = 1.1, bottom equals last pick of the draft. then one could find say what for example:
      picks 1.11 + 8.02 = 3.07 + X would be.

  10. Steve Stevenson says:
    (link)

12-tm 1/2-PPR superflex league, likely looking at Brown or Julio with my 1st rounder. Would you: a) grab a tier 2 QB with my late 2nd or early 3rd pick, or b) continue loading up RB and WR there and hope to pair tier 3 & tier 4 QBs in the mid-rounds?

    • When Buying Gifts Don't Confuse the Diary of Hans Frank and Anne Frank says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: unless you are 1.1 or 1.2 grab a QB right away in the 1st round of a super flex. other than the super rare instances of somebody in a dynasty having like 2 top 10 overall RB/WR the only times i’ve seen anybody win one of those usually goes with having a top 5 QB along with another QB in the flex spot. often a top 10 (but not top 5) QB could work with another top 15 guy also. DJ and Bell probably are worth passing up a QB in the 1st round, i’d guess not otherwise.

      • When Buying Gifts Don't Confuse the Diary of Hans Frank and Anne Frank says:
        (link)

@When Buying Gifts Don’t Confuse the Diary of Hans Frank and Anne Frank: now let’s say for a minute you have maybe a pick at 1.10, 1.11. 1.12 if NO QB’s are taken yet, then do that idea, however those guys you mention in that case wouldn’t be around, but still the idea of grabbing best RB/WR at 1.10-1.12 then QB in 2.1-2.3 etc.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: Naw, I’d want QBs as soon as possible. I’d probably at least take one after Brown or Julio and then reassess on that turn.

  11. PinkDoves says:
    (link)

What do you think of my squad in a 12 team keeper. I know my WRs are a weak point, but went upside and hoping for a break.

    QBs: Ryan, Dak
    Rbs: Bell, Gordon, Zeke, Perine
WRs: T. Hill, D. Parker, C. Coleman, C. Davis, Beasley
    TE: Reed
    K: Prater
Team D: I’ll be streaming all year but start with Bills & Bengals

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@PinkDoves: Yeah, your WRs aren’t necessarily bad, but they aren’t great either. I think Hill and Parker can carry your team at times, but you are completely set at RB which offsets that. I’d be happy with this team to be honest.

  12. James says:
    (link)

    Hey Jay,

Thanks for all of the help each year! Looking forward to the 2017 season.

I might be overthinking but I’m currently in a standard, re-draft, 10 team league with the 3rd overall pick. Every single ranking says to take AB. I agree with that but with my league I’m concerned with RB1 talent in the second round.

Should I take AB 3rd or consider taking Shady, Gordon, or Ajayi?

Appreciate any advice my draft is on the 26th.

    Cheers,

    James

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@James: Thanks! I think Shady is close, so I’m okay with it, but I’m still probably going AB there since in a 10 teamer, RB depth lasts a bit longer.

      • James says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks for getting back to me! I am going to most likely take AB with that first pick and in the late second I was looking at your rankings and you have Gurley, Fournette, Lynch, Crowell. Any order you think I should look at these guys for?

Thanks again, also do you think you’ll post updated rankings before Saturday?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@James: I’d go Gurley, Lynch, and then Fourt there. And yup, I’ll be doing rankings tonight for an update tomorrow morning!
