It’s hard to believe that it’s already Week 3, but we also need to remember that it is ONLY Week 3. Human instinct tells you to sell off or drop your struggling assets because they haven’t helped you win in the first couple weeks. Mike Lombardi states it best when he says that September is basically an extended preseason. I try not to overreact to bad performances when I’m writing my articles this early in the season. When I tell you I’m cold on Cam Newton or another star, it’s just to have them wait it out on the bench.

There are always certain situations like Adrian Peterson that were head-scratching from the start. Having three backs rotating on the field in a pass heavy offense doesn’t make any sense. I’d drop him, at this point because there are always exceptions to the rule. Obviously, there are always guys who were on the fringe of being roster-worthy in the first place that should be dropped to pick up waiver wire studs like Tarik Cohen. Don’t panic on A.J. Green or Joe Mixon until we see what the new offensive coordinator has in store. Wait to see if Sammy Watkins can develop a rhythm with Jared Goff over the next three or so weeks. Same with Isaiah Crowell, his schedule is going to get a little easier over the next few weeks. This is also the perfect time of year to buy low on the Cincinnati offense or Terrelle Pryor Sr.

Here are my rankings for Week 3…

As always, you can ask me questions on Twitter as well as in the comment section…

I’m in a 12 team standard league and I don’t know what to do with Eifert. I want to drop him. Every game he plays in I have no confidence that he will finish it. Here are the TEs on my waiver:

    J. Cook
    C. Brate
    B. Watson
    ASJ
    Z. Miller
    J. Thomas

Should I drop Eifert for any of these TEs? It’s tough to hold two TEs.

@Jedimasters: Gerald Everett has a lot of upside (maybe not this week because SF held Olsen and Graham in check). If you don’t want to gamble on him, Cook has annice matchup this week

  2. DiRo says:
    (link)

I am in a 12 team 0.5 PPR keeper league and missed out on all the good rookie RB’s to use as one of my keepers next year.

Here is my team; QB – Brady RB – D Johnson, Miller, Gore, Bernard, Procise, Kamara, Perine WR – Dez, D Jackson, T Williams, J Ross, TE – Gronk, Hooper

It’s a bit of a hit for now, but getting McCaffrey for the future seems worth it. What do you think?

    • DiRo says:
      (link)

@DiRo: whoops, trade is McCafrey/Fitz for my Dez/Miller

@DiRo: I wouldn’t make that trade if you’re trying to compete this year. Thanks for clarifying

      MB says:

@DiRo: him or Mixon are good buy lows for now. Both could end up having good 2017s as well.

  3. William Hung says:
    (link)

After flipping Kendall Wright for Charles Clay, I’m thinking of making a speculative add on the following guys:
    – Markus Wheaton, Marlon Mack, Chris Ivory, Taywan Taylor, or Jalen Richard

Just looking for best player – not filling a need

Reminder: 14 team .5 PPR league with return yards

@MB: How about Zay Jones (just dropped)

  4. Big League Choo says:

    10 team standard

    Someone just offered me

My Hyde for his derrick Henry

Rb depth isn’t great but if Murray is down or becomes backup Henry is a top 5 guy

    Hyde, cohen, Howard, Perine, DJ

@Big League Choo: is stick with Hyde personally

        @MB:
Just worried getting behind and not using Hyde as much. Also Henry has a much better offense and offensive line.

@Big League Choo: it’s a gamble that could pay off, in a big Hyde believer though.

    Hey man!

.5 PPR league, stick w/ hunter Henry or drop for Jared cook?

My squad: my RBs Gordon, hunt, mcaffery, Abdullah, Carson, Chris Johnson, chark west , perine
    — my WRs: Keenan, Alshon, hogan, Marshall, snead, Parker, Golladay, martavis Bryant.
    My is Henry
    ——————

Next, start Winston this week? I see you have him in your top 10 at 8 roll him out at Minnesota or add + start with cutler at jets or Wentz home vs Giants?

Quick trade Q. Look to buy low on brandin cooks? Or don’t bother/is he a bust? I was thinking of offering either Golladay or hogan + Abdullah for cooks?
The Cooks owner has Cooks on his bench maybe he’s getting fed up with Cooks.

    — his RBs: Stewart, Ingram, buck Allen , sims & vereen.
    — his WRs: Cooks, theilen, Cobb, Jordan Matthews, JJ Nelson, sanu, amendola.

I also wouldn’t mind doing let’s say hogan + Abdullah + perine for Cooks & Charles Clay (he’s rostering 3 TEs: Rudolph, Watson & clay.) although ROS I may lean to rather start hunter henry each week than clay.

Or if I can’t get this deal thoughts of buying low on Pryor? Chris Carson + Golladay or hogan for Pryor?
Or Abdullah straight up for Pryor?

    – his RBs : Demarco, James white, mixon, Jeremy hill, kamara, dion Lewis & lat Murray

    – his WRs: OBJ, sanders, Pryor, Kelvin Benjamin.

    — if I do a big big deal by shipping alshon + martavis Bryant I’d like to receive either AJ green or Amari Cooper. Is that a good way to look at it? Would you target either of those I am facing the Cooper owner this week

    — lastly is doug Baldwin a buy low candidate? I’m not sure if martavis Bryant for Baldwin is the way to go or stand pat

Lots of options, I like to keep my mind open to trades
    Thanks man!!

    I’d stick with Henry

Yeah I think Winston has enough weapons in his arsenal to have a good week in Minnesota. I have no problem starting Wentz over him. I have them only two spots apart.

Cooks is historically boom or bust, he frustrates me.

I’d rather buy low on Pryor, Abdullah is as much as I’d give up.

Yes I’d buy low on Baldwin. Martavis is fine.

I wouldn’t ship both Martavis and Alshon for either. Both have a lot of upside and high floor

@Brian: I changed my mind, Carson and Fitz. Could be a heavy Riddick game

  8. Frankfurter says:
    (link)

I may try the Pryor one 1st figured he may need RB depth he’s been starting james white at RB2 since week 1

    — regardless if I pull off a trade or not are you holding or dumping Marshall? Watching MNF that Giants o has issues but maybe just maybe with OBJ’s presence could open things up for Marshall, plus if /when Engram is getting targeted too & drawing the D’s to him it could help Marshall. That being said Engram was targeting heavily on MNF even got a TD almost a 2nd, and Marshall still did nothing he had a wide open sideline look but dropped the pass, he was also targeted but the redzone but a half yard or so shy of the TD. If I do hold on Marshall I may give him one more week to see if anything clicks

Available WRs: funchess, k wright, Paul Richardson, Higgins. Lockett & decker were dropped this AM & will clear tomorrow AM. Or I could drop Marshall was a one week stream of Wentz this week

    Thanks again!

    • MB

      MB says:

@Frankfurter: I don’t find Marshall to be that useful anymore. I like Higgins though! I’d drop him to stream Wentz too.

@Steve: I don’t know how much of any upgrade Walker is, Fleener is a garbage time machine so far. But if you want Walker I don’t blame ya

    12 team PPR , 4 man bench
With Eifert hurting, I can pick up Ebron.
Would you drop Eifert or Luck (my other QB is Wentz) in this case?
I guess the question is does Eifert have enough upside to give up on holding Luck in my fourth bench slot.
    Thanks

@the imp: I’m not dropping Eifert, he has too much upside

yeah sean payton is pretty much identical to the rams old coach, a great offensive mind but has no clue at all in how to build a team to win. he signs AP rather than some defensive players when he didn’t have any use at all for an old non-catching RB but certainly had needs at ALL defensive spots and didn’t address. them. see how JAX (who already had and have been hoarding high ranking defensive prospects) grabbed campbell and church, WTF didn’t NO sign guys like that rather than AP?! just stupid. the rams literally held onto a 4th WR/kick returner rather than hold onto l.fletcher right before he hit his prime back in the day when cap crunch came.
