2nd year WR David Clowney, wasn’t clowning around in the Jet’s first preseason game in 2009. The Virginia Tech product hauled in 3 catches (2 very snazzy snags) for 102 yards. With Laveranues Coles out of the picture, and Jerricho Cotchery taking over the #1 WR duties, an impressive preseason may move Clowney into a starting position opposite Cotchery. With only Chansi Stuckey and Brad Smith to beat out and barring a Jets trade to bring in a Brandon Marshall or Dwayne Bowe, Clowney could offer fantasy owners some solid upside in the late rounds. The speedster is a legitimate deep threat which could create some explosive points weeks, but with the Jets’ QB situation, look for Clowney to be more of an upside bye-week or injury replacement than a bona fide #3 WR. Projections: 45 rec/650 yds/4 TDs.

    Whats everyone’s strategy for a draft with people you suspect to be more at a casual knowledge level? I have a draft with people from work next week and am not quite sure what to expect…any tips? Money is involved, and co-worker trash talk, so there is added incentive.

    @dbhammel: Expect a few QBs to be taken in the 1st round, probably a D in the 6th, maybe a kicker in the 9th. People who don’t have the knowledge will try to fill up their starting line up first & think that QBs are the most valuable b/c they score the most points. Be ready for a few “what the @$#&!” moments during the draft, which will totally screw up your draft plan.

    living here in louisville i would love to see michael bush get a shot some time this year,but im sure mcfadden will be given every chance to excell this year,but i hope he gets 10 touches a game and the bulk of goal line carries,any thoughts?

    @dbhammel: You have to be ready to get value and not worry as much about getting the top players. You can beat them by knowing who to get on your bench.

    @AL KOHOLIC: It’s still fairly up in the air. I think Bush is a decent flier because he could slip in there and get a lot of work. I’m banking on McFadden getting the bulk of work, but I can’t say that with 100% confidence.

    Do the rankings on the tier sheet for each position reflect your actual rankings? ie you like Greg Olson over Owen Daniels (even though theyre in the same tier).

    Have a question for all involved.

    I am in a 12 team Keeper league.

    I have the 5th pick available in the 1st round.

    Best available:
    Gore, LT, Portis, Barber, Grant, Boldin, Manning.

    I have MJD, Colston, White

    I’m leaning towards taking Manning with that pick as my next pick isn’t till the 4th round. There is also a chance the person in front of me takes Boldin and leaves me Portis.

    Who would you take? Portis or Manning with the current line-up? If portis is gone should I still take Manning?

    @Adamh: Yes, but with that particular case the projections came out even. I would be happy with either.

    @AL KOHOLIC: I think he is good with some upside. He’s not going to win your league, but he’s worth a backup.

    @boyle: lt or portis

    Al@AL KOHOLIC:

    What if LT, Portis and Gore are all gone. That is my real concern.

    Barber-Time Share w/ Felix
    Grant-maybe this is his year
    Kevin Smith-?
    Ronnie Brown-?

    I feel like they all have concerns except for Peyton.

    @Adamh: No worries.

    @boyle: I would take all those guys ahead of Peyton, but if you feel like others are keeping QB’s and you will end up with Hasselbeck or Cassel then you should go with Peyton.

    @boyle: yeah,i never have drafted qb`s that early,but i try to get someone i trust before thier all gone also.

    You called it Doc.

    WR David Clowney practiced with the first-team offense. Clowney appears to be the front-runner for the No. 2 wide receiver spot.
