If you missed the Razzball Podcast this week (and let’s be honest, why aren’t you listening!?), then the title might look a little awkward, but after a 24-hour binge of syrup consumption in various methods, Nick and I exclaimed we’re going to be facing off in a DraftKings contest this weekend.  We’re pitting against each other for ultimate Monday morning bragging rights on next week’s Pod.  So we’re going to pick a contest, I’ll tweet out which one it is, tweet out the link and include in the comments for everyone to join and play with us as we battle for Pod pride.  Then you can topple us both and battle for Comments pride.  Why DraftKings is great – instant bragging rights!

If you still haven’t tried out DraftKings, it’s a daily fantasy site (well weekly for NFL) and a ton of fun, you can play for as little as a quarter (yes, 25 cents not 25 grand Scarface!) with huge prizes even in the $0.25 and $1.00 Contests.  They’ve also got all sorts of qualifiers to get into their Millionaire Grand Finale, which runs in week 17 (and let’s be honest, most fantasy leagues will be done so it’ll be the biggest fantasy event for everyone in it) and pays out a cool, slick, boatload, something like that, million bucks.  Just for winning one week of football!  Can’t beat that.  So hop over and check it out today!

Hippity Skippity to last week’s picks:

QB – Andrew Luck  18-30  202 Yds  1 INT (8.98 Pts)

RB – Arian Foster  141 Rush Yds 4 Rec  57 Yds  (26.8 Pts)

WR – Marques Colston 1 Rec  11 Yds  (2.1 Pts)

FLEX – Coby Fleener 3 Rec  16 Yds  (4.6 Pts)

TOTAL: 42.48  (previous weeks’ totals: 49.3, 73.38, 24.4, 70.24)

Ugh.  Another bad week.  I feel like I’m as bad at DraftKings football as Rudy was at DraftKings baseball.  Ok that’s not true, I at least have had some good calls!  Mini-rant similar to what I said on the Pod re Colston – if you went into that game against the Pats and I said I think Jimmy Graham gets shut down (which I did and he did) and Colston out produces him by 11 yards, what would be your over/under on Colston’s yardage total?  140?  But nooooo, the Pats limit Graham just like I thought they would, but nada for Colston.  Then the Colts looked like the Dan Orlovsky Colts on Monday night.  Yikes.  Anyway, glad it’s DraftKings and glad it’s a new week!  Here’s who I like in week 7 for DraftKings action:

QB – Peyton Manning ($11,000) – This pick has me eschewing John Malkovich in Rounders when he goes “I bet it all” just dropping chips in front of Matt Damon.  Although I of course want a better end result than Malkovich got… Going at Indy in what will be the highest publicized game this century, there’s no way Peyton doesn’t put on a show in front of his former fans.  It’s gonna be awesome.  And DraftKings is gonna be like, “pay JB his money!”  All-in!

RB – Brandon Jacobs ($3,900) – I’m already building in my picks that will have to come on the cheap, as with a line-up starting Peyton will have to have a lot of deeper plays.  Jacobs will be starting in a backfield all to himself, against a terrible Vikings run D and in a game the Giants might actually win.  Side note – Giants are my DraftKings DEF pick as well with their 2nd lowest price tag and at home against the Cassell/Ponder/Freeman/Brett Farve out of retirement? QB-led Vikes.  Anyway, Jacobs should be a great value, and any starting back under 4K is a strong buy.

WR – Keenan Allen ($4,600) – With the third straight big week Allen has put together, not only am I fully a believer but I’m shocked DraftKings still has him at such a great value.  He’s both Keenan and Kel in that Chargers passing game with really solid-looking route-running and a great rapport with Rivers both short and long.  I know there is a little bit of fear with the matchup being against the Jags and the Chargers could shut down the passing game, but Jacksonville showed a pulse last week in Denver and the Chargers are the AFC equivalent to my Panthers with their Jekyll and Hyde inconsistent performances.  Allen is a no-brainer WR to pick this week.

FLEX – Joseph Randle ($4,800) – I have my full line-up ready to go with some higher-$ players, but I will share another one of my penny-savers in Randle, who I think will be solid in his first career NFL start against the Eagles.  I don’t think it matters who starts out of Michael Vick or Nick Foles, that Eagles offense is very inconsistent either way and I think Dallas is right in it or has a big lead.  I don’t think they’ll be down much.  Randle is a great talent, and a guy to take a look at in dynasty or keeper leagues as DeMarco Murray has one injured foot out the door to losing the starting role there in Dallas long-term.
