Grade B Choice Cuts
Tashard Choice went off last year after the Cat and the Barbarian were both out of commission. That was against actual defenses and if Barber is out next week the team Choice will face, Carolina, has yet to show signs of an actual defense. Of course reports on Marion Barber vary from day to day to 2 weeks. Do you waste a waiver priority on Choice? Well, it is your, um, selection, but I am putting a waiver claim on him where I need a spot starter with upside and waiting on him in other leagues. Weigh your options and how badly you need a running back. Just remember that Dallas plays on Monday night and if Barber is a game time decision, well, you could get screwed.
And now, the rest of the story:
Matt Hasselbeck: The news doesn’t sound good for Hass’ ribs and his name doesn’t sound too good for Glen Beck either. Oh and while we’re at it the entire Seahawks organization isn’t too happy about him getting hurt because they were horrible without him last year. He says he wants to play, but we don’t always get what we want.
Mike Bell: His MRI showed a MCL sprain. I wouldn’t count on him. Pierre Thomas owners have been in mourning for a while and PT really needs to get out there and perform well to lift their veils.
Ronnie Brown: He went all wildcat wild on Monday night. That made me happy. I’ve seen what Brown can do for me and I’ll sign for that even if I am taking a nap.
Byron Leftwich: So this guy takes about a minute winding up to throw and he’s thrown the ball 90+ times this year so you extrapolate that and he spends about 36 days a year just winding up to throw a ball! Kinda puts things in perspective doesn’t it? The Bucs D has hit the skids and Lord Byron will serve out some poetic justice, but not too much, just enough for a bye week spot starter.
Justin Forsett: He is worth a flier especially in deeper leagues. He has home run speed and was targeted in the passing game against the 49ers. Jones is the starter, but I think Forsett earned himself more touches.
Julian Edelman: Is this the name of a NFL player? Yeah, he caught 8 passes for 98 yards last week, don’t you read the papers? If Welker is ok for week 3 Edelman is dead weight, if not, he is live weight which is much easier to carry, especially on your rosters.
Marcedes Lewis: There are too many good TE’s to choose from this season. Lewis drops the ball, not like when you forget the coversheet on the TPS reports, but like when the ball is thrown to you and you put your hands together to catch it, but it falls to the ground with a deafening thud. see Ted Ginn Jr. But even with that he can get open and run after the catch and he’s being targeted.
Antonio Bryant can duck every fantasy gamer he is jack knifing. Languishing members, not of productive, quality razzballers, sigh til unhinged victories waiver xylophonically, yes zealously. Huh? Anyway, Bryant’s injury will keep him out for a while, but supposedly it doesn’t have anything to do with his offseason surgery. With Leftwich throwing like the world is about to end (it’s not?) I’m still holding out hope. You can get him at an extremely low price, but I’d wait, he may be dropped soon.

Good update, definitely keeping an eye on Leftwich as my bye week fill-in for Rivers. Cassel just got dropped in my league, but he’d be playing NYG.
Waivers cleared this morning in my league…I struck out on Manningham (expected), would’ve struck out on Steve Smith if I’d tried it, but managed to grab Tashard Choice and the Denver defense (dropping Todd Heap and Dallas). Not bad. If MBIII comes back healthy and Manningham continues going off, I’ll regret it, but right now I think it was the right Choice.
@mgeoffriau: Sounds like a plan. Choice is a decent bench player for now anyway.

@Doc: Which TE do you like best going fwd… 1/2ppr league….Heap, Shiancoe, Watson, currently starting Miller
Thanks
@matthole: Heap

Thanks again…

Managed to get Choice on waivers. Would you flip him for LenDale, provided that I could bench him this week? How do you feel about LenDale going forward?
September 23rd, 2009 at 7:08 am
Who do you like in a suicide pool this week? Baltimore and Minny have been used. I’m thinking either Green Bay @ STL, Philly v. KC or Dallas v. Carolina, but I’m open for suggestions. I’m a Packer fan so I’m a little nervous to pick my team after they eliminated nearly half of the pool last week.
September 23rd, 2009 at 7:32 am
@matthole>:Celek should get more opportunities
@eldee: CJ won’t keep
getting those long TDs so he should get his. I’d try it.
@Ian: I llike gb coming off a loss
September 23rd, 2009 at 7:36 am
@matthole: I’d still go with Heap right now, he’s getting red zone looks. Keep an eye on Celek and Vernon Davis.
@eldee: Yeah, I would make that trade. Unless the MBIII injury is much, much worse than we’re hearing, LenDale should have more value going forward.
@Ian: Philly makes me nervous with the QB question. I’d go Green Bay first (that STL offense really is horrible), Dallas second.
September 23rd, 2009 at 7:45 am
@Ian: i went with the giants this week, they are at least in the discussion playing TB at home.

Here’s a question for you….
Week 1, I started Andre Johnson and Braylon Edwards. Edwards had a TD taken away which made his week crap.
Week 2, after making a trade, I started Andre Johnson and Brandon Marshall. Marshall was complete crap while Braylon collected 90+ yards on my bench.
So in Week 3, with Brandon Marshall likely facing Nnamdi Asomugha, I’ve got to start Braylon over him, right? At least until we see some signs of Marshall being in sync with the Denver offense.
Also got Hester on the bench as a possibility (return yards count half of regular — 20 yds per point).

Rank the following in terms of investment quality for a team with questionable running backs: Michael Bush, Forsett, James Davis
September 23rd, 2009 at 9:18 am
Drop San Diego for Arizona or New Orleans?
September 23rd, 2009 at 9:47 am
I need a QB this week as McNabb is out again. Picked up Hasselback last week which was a disaster.
Would you go with Kolb? I dont have too many options. Others are Leftwich or Shaun Hill.
Also who to start at receiver this week:
Only can pick 2:
Hines Ward, Manningham, Roy E Williams, or Nate Washington.
My RB’s are CJ, MJD, Ward, and Bell…I figure I have to go with Ward at my Flex or do I choose three of the WR’s above?
September 23rd, 2009 at 9:54 am
Going into week 3, should I start Correll Buckhalter against the Raiders or Leon Washington against Tennessee? I’m leaning toward Leon because we count return yards in my league but have a feeling that it’s best to go with Buckhalter this week…thoughts?
Also, Redskins or Broncos D this week? I have both…thx
September 23rd, 2009 at 10:41 am
Who I start at TE this week? Its between Heath Miller and Brent Celek. Cincinati looked good against the TE’s last week so Im leaning towards Celek
September 23rd, 2009 at 11:15 am
Drop Chris Henry for Choice or Forsett? Already own Felix. Thanks.
September 23rd, 2009 at 11:47 am
Drop Heap (#2 TE) For either James Davis or Mendenhall?
@mgeoffriau: Yeah, Braylon.
@Lis Franc: Davis, Bush, Forsett
@Eric C.: I’d go with matchups instead. Is Denver available.
@Jeff L: Lefty. Williams and Manningham. D Ward, he’s still getting more touches than Caddy, by 1.
@Marvin N.: Leon and Broncos.
@Trevor: Celek
@Da Birds: Choice
@salipp: Mendy
September 23rd, 2009 at 12:55 pm
@Doc: I (somehow) was able to trade Fred Jackson and Driver yesterday to get MJD. That leaves me with Moss and table scraps for my #2 WR (Walter, Harvin, Smith (NYG)) for my non-ppr league.
I was offered Berrian and Hester for my Harvin today. I can only hold 5 WR’s. Take it or leave it.
September 23rd, 2009 at 12:58 pm
@Dad: That should have ended with a “?”. To clarify, Moss is my clear #1 and i feel i’m very thin at #2 now.
Also, is Manningham or Knox worth a waiver claim for Walter?
Choice > my currently rostered James Davis? ok, done with annoying questions.
@Dad: Geez, that’s robbery!
Yeah I’d do it, I think Berrian will come around. He’s still the #1 up there.
@Dad: I like Davis long term

@Doc: Thank you kind sir.
I’m an experienced fantasy (baseball) guy (with little NFL knowledge) playing against inexperienced fantasy guys (with lots of NFL knowledge). We’ll see who wins out. Thanks for the advice.
September 23rd, 2009 at 1:40 pm
Ronnie Brown did look great on Sunday. Just the performance Miami needed too.
September 23rd, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Thanks for your response Doc…
September 23rd, 2009 at 2:17 pm
PPR league..Choose 2 WRs and RBs to start. I can flex one in the W/R option as well. So need 5 all together -
RBs: Gore, C. Johnson, Ryan Grant, Westbrook, Felix Jones
WRs: Colston, Santonio, Manningham, Driver, B. Marshall
Also with McNabb hurt, start Trent Edwards? Or pick up Byron, Campbell, Kolb, Sanchez?
September 23rd, 2009 at 2:37 pm
@ryan:
RB’s- Gore, C. Johnson
WR’s- Colston… 2nd guy is pretty tough. I’m almost leaning toward Marshall.
Flex- Westbrook
September 23rd, 2009 at 2:51 pm
The way Westbrook has performed thus far and with his recent injury is leading me to want to start R. Grant in his place, esp. against STL this week.
I also think Santonio, Manningham, and Driver are all going to have a good week. The best overall, I can’t decide………
September 23rd, 2009 at 3:21 pm
@Ryan: you have a lot of good options, not a bad dilemma to be stuck with. It would be difficult for me to disagree with most any combination of players you’d start.
September 23rd, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Who to start who to start?
For my QB: Ryan vs New England or Jay Cutler vs Arizona
for RB: Joseph Addia or Tim Hightower
Thanks!
@Corey: Ryan, Hightower
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:33 pm
In an 18 team league where after weeks 9,10,11,12 the bottom 2 teams are eliminated and their players sent to waivers for the remaining teams to fight over (excludes players drafted rounds 1-3). Now my question is would it be worth using my #1 waiver priority now to get either Chris Wells or Antonio Bryant. I’d been looking to just save it until the eliminations begin to get an upperhand.
My current RB’s are Ronnie Brown, Reggie Bush, Buckhalter, and Earnest graham.
My current WR’s are Andre Johnson, Torry Holt, Derrick Mason, Justin Gage.
*0.75 PPR
Do you think if I blew it now it would come back around to where I’d make my way up to #5 waiver priority by the time week 10 comes.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:36 pm
Thanks again Doc!
@Trevor: Hmm, that’s an interesting set up. Seems odd that Beanie is on the wire in such a deep league. I really have no idea how the priority will go for you, but I usually play for the here and now so I would go after Beanie because I think you need the depth. I’d drop Graham for him. Bryant won’t play this week probably and maybe will clear waivers.
@Corey: no problem.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:50 pm
Thanks alot Doc. I was really wondering why that was as well but I am very high on Beanie going so far as to make him a 4th or 5th rounder multiple times so I might as well move on him.
September 23rd, 2009 at 5:54 pm
First off, having a Razzball football site is fantastic! I’m way more prepared and informed this year and not panicking despite an 0-2 start since I’ve got Slaton/MJD/Schaub/Colston/Roddy. It’ll come around.
I’ve got an embarrassement of riches at RB this week. Slaton vs Jags, Grant vs Rams, Felix Jones vs. Carolina (MJD vs. Hou isn’t up for debate). I figure there’s no need to take the risk that Jones will get a ton of touches but who would you start, Grant or Slaton? I’m leaning Grant just because Slaton has spooked me the last couple weeks and Houston just lost Chester Pitts on the o-line (though rotoworld claims his replacement is good).
@sickmangarner: Thanks. I can understand why you are Slaton shy. I think since you do have a good backup with an easy matchup you should run with Grant and hope Slaton gets back on track against the Jags.
September 23rd, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Any thought on Bobby Wade. He lead KC in catches and targets the past game. Drop Bennett for him?
@ryan: It feels like a lateral move at this point.
