Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

The last time we talked about this conundrum I was telling you in my Updated Overall Rankings that I already had Le’Veon Bell pretty low in my rankings and without any more clear cut news about what kind of time he’d miss, I had a hard time moving him down from what was already considered a low RB26.  Amazing how two days can change things, eh?  I haven’t moved him down my list yet – I figure it would be good to see how many other injuries happen this weekend for preseason week 3 before I proceed and see who performs best amongst his backups – but he’s being said to have a lisfranc injury.  They say he’ll be out only 6-8 weeks.  I’m thinking back to MJD last year and wondering how much I believe in that 6 or that 8.  Granted, the Jags weren’t playing for anything but there were always hopes/rumors he’d come back in season and he never did, though his injury was much later in the year.  All this to say, a lot can happen over those 6 to 8 to 10 to…ok, ok I might be exaggerating but a lot can happen over those weeks.  Maybe he loses his starting role.  Maybe the Steelers look so far out of contention that they want him at 100% before he comes out and decide to shut him down for this rookie year to preserve him.  Maybe when he comes back, it becomes a 3 to 4 ring circus of RBs in that Steelers backfield and you’re left wondering what to do with him.  As a whole, I’m only a buyer if he goes on IR and my league has an IR spot.  It’s the only way to ensure he’s worth the headache at this point.  Anyways, here’s what other news I’m hearing on the grapevine for 2013 Fantasy Football…and here we are again.  I’ll keep telling you until you do it!  Go join/commish a Razzball Commenter League!  The life of your family depends on it!  Not really!  I don’t know why I’m shouting anymore!  But please make/join a league!  Ok, let’s move on!

Isaac Redman – Is the man behind Bell on the depth chart.  That’s the best thing I can say about him.  It’s also the only thing I’m going to say about him.

Jonathan Dwyer – Is now almost assured of a roster spot.  That’s never a good lead in to tell you to pick him up but of the two, he’s gonna go the cheapest and has the build to be a better back then he showed last year.  If I’m taking a shot on this backfield, I’m being a contrarian and cheap at the same time and targeting Dwyer.

LaRod Stephens-Howling – Might be a PPR dynamo for the Steelers, especially without Bell to compete with.  Deeper PPR leagues take note to not spare LaRod or you’ll spoil your team.

Kenbrell Thompkins – Had 8 catches for 116 yards on 12 targets, playing most of it with Brady under center.  With Amendola out, Thompkins and Dobson had a chance to shine and it was Kenbrell that shone brightest.  As I talked with a commenter yesterday, I’m not gonna get too involved here as I think between Vereen/Sudfeld/Amendola/Gronk when he’s back, the Pats have proven before that WR2 can become WRhell.  Great upside if he goes cheap enough but with games like this, he’s no longer gonna stay under the radar; he’s gonna break through it.

Zach Sudfeld – One catch for 20 yards and a fumble and promptly not targeted nor part of the offense again after that point.  Area for concern?  A little if he can’t fix this problem but overall, he’ll be given plenty of opportunities much like Vereen despite the fumble.  Bolden on the other hand?  Ehhhh…well let’s just say Blount is still around, pretend I didn’t say it but realize how disgustingly true it is.

Mikel LeShoure – Doing his best to give Bell the backup job in Detroit, even though the numbers from tonight don’t show it (6 carries for 32 yards).  If we’re wondering what back to own in case of a Bush breakdown or meltdown, learn how to type Bell’s first name into the player search in your fantasy leagues and you’re golden.

Brandon Stokley – Had 3 catches for 43 yards on 3 targets as he tries to replace Boldin in that offense.  Clearly after a missed route and pick-6 for Flacco, Doss won’t be seeing that role anytime soon.  Meanwhile Smith put up the goose egg on 1 target.  Have I mentioned how much I don’t want Ravens receivers this off-season yet?

Ryan Broyles – 2 recs and 32 yards as he played for the second team offense.  Because, you know, we really needed to see the Stafford to Pat Edwards connection.  I know they’re trying to keep Broyles healthy but I don’t really understand why he didn’t get his reps in with Matthew at the helm.  TBD whether two of my teams are FTFW or FML with Broyles on them.

Daniel Thomas – I’ve ignored it as best I could but I’m gonna be watching this sitch about as close as anyone as Jeff Ireland really hates to be wrong about a guy.  Jeff’s pushing that Daniel could be a part of a backfield committee, which is not something I disagree with but we might see play out if he gets his way.  Basically, he’s touting Thomas and I’m doubting Thomas.

Oh and sidebar that is part promotional, part personal but definitely purely sexual, I did a podcast with a fellow Razzball Expert League bro last night.  Follow @Revel_Nathan for details.  Or just follow him for fun.  Your choice!  But seriously, podcast will be live at some point today so follow along if you want to give a listen.

Razzball Football, just saved to my favorites on my browser. Sky, you and I are gonna be close over the next four months. I’m gonna be watching you…er…uh…I mean, reading you articles on a daily basis. It’s gonna get a little weird at times, I’m not gonna lie (I probably will a lot, actually) but we’ll (or I’ll) get through it just fine. You’ll see!

Trade deangelo Williams for one of either mike Williams or Kenbrell thompkins? One of these players will essentially have to be my flex most weeks with bell lost to injury. Deangelo should get the bulk of the carries but he’s only averaging 2.4 YPC in the preason so far and he won’t get goaline carries. Thanks

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Trading away an RB when you just lost an RB…not up for that. I think DeAngelo has done fine in the past as the lead back and will do fine again. He’s a perfect flex play, stay with him.

  4. the imp says:

Regarding Foster. Overall PPR ECR has him down to #12 overall, in a tier with the superfluous wideouts and Matt Forte.

In a 12 team PPR limited keeper situation, I can keep Foster or throw him back and likely draft a player like Forte/Sproles/Marshall/Bryant in his place. I’m inclined to roll the dice and go for the upside play with Foster, but I know you are better at averting injury risk than I am.

Are you betting his situation is more like Lynch’s last year (depressed price due to back problems that ended up being a non-issue) or like Greg Jennings (depressed price due to training camp injuries that were a sign of more injuries to come)?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Does Foster take up a draft pick or affect your draft in anyway? I’m inclined to roll the dice with him. My main concern all off season has been his 3.9 ypc average and it being mostly quantity and not quality that made him so good for fantasy last year. If you’re not giving up anything to take the gamble, I say it’s worth it.

      • the imp says:
        (link)

@Sky: Hey Sky, thanks for the follow up.
Foster is my #11 pick if I keep him. Otherwise I free the #11 pick to use on a player of the caliber I listed above. My #14 pick would likely be another pick from the same tier of players. Would you still role with Foster in that case?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

No prob and I’d definitely roll with him at that spot. Think it’s reasonable to take the upside on him if you can solidify it with the guys you mentioned. Go for it.

I was asking you yesterday about looking for lottery ticket picks, since with waivers being set for Wednesdays, everyone and their mother knows who’s getting added if someone does come up big in a weekend.

What do you think about Panthers RB situation? Williams is old, Stewart has gumby ankles and might not even play for the first half, Tolbert sucks. Anything on Kenjon Barner breaking out?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

DeAngelo Williams is deceptively old (30) but just like when Ricky Williams came back, you have to look at his career touches as a factor. He’s no Steven Jackson in terms of mileage.

Tolbert isn’t actually that bad. I think it depends on how quickly Barner catches on with the offense but I think he’ll still be limited to being a PPR guy at best. I’d pick up Barner depending on size of league (12 team or higher with decent sized benches) to see what comes of it but he won’t be replacing D-Will any time soon even with the J-Stew injury.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Worst case scenario, he challenges LaRod for third down PPR rights but he’s never been a great between the tackles runner. Steelers don’t usually go after his type at running back, he’s there more for depth at this point most likely. Nothing to get excited over.

          • btd says:
            (link)

@Sky: I caught some of the PIT/??? game yesterday, Felix was taking kick returns and running with the 2nd/3rd stringers. Though Dwyer didn’t really look that good. Felix has some decent runs, but was taken down by some pretty weak arm tackles.

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

Felix is a handcuff for LSH and his 3rd down back role if that sprained ACL turns out to be more. It’ll be either Dwyer or Redman, still think it’s Dwyer though it’s hard to get excited about either.

  7. MIKEY BOY324 says:

Sky I just read today that Philbin said the reason why Lamar Miller has not won the job is because he has not been good in pass bloacking. With that said I still think Miller will win the job outright after a few weeks, what round do you think he is worth drafting in?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

He’s currnetly going late 3rd, early 4th right now. He’s still a reasonable pickup there in my book. Just don’t trust the Daniel Thomas story much.

  8. Frank White says:
    (link)

Also in my 12 team PPr league my draft order number is 5… I want Spiller but if someone else goes down to grab him then can you tell me in order from best to worst for who I should grab please? Martin, Foster, Charles, Lynch n Rice

  9. Frank White says:
    (link)

Then for 2nd pick if AJ Green isn’t available, I’d like to grab another RB but I might have to reach down unless Morris n Forte are there which is doubtful. What it looks like it would be Dez, Marshall, Ridley, Graham, Julio, Jones drew, Reggie bush. would you go for a WR, good QB oranother RB??

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I ranked these guys in my rankings. Have Dez/Marshall over all the players you listed and the only one close is MJD. Think you can get one of those RBs in the 3rd, that would be my goal if that’s how things shake out.

  10. Frank White says:
    (link)

If another Rb over all them WR’s then how do you rank, Ridley, R Bush, Jones Drew, Steven Jackson, Chris Johnson or grab Graham?? Only if you think I should skip those WR’s and QB

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’m not trying to be rude, but when I say I ranked them in my rankings, I ranked them in my rankings. You’re asking me info I’ve already provided about who I’d grab and how I’d rank those guys.

I’m not saying to skip them, I’m saying depending on my rankings and who’s available out of them, that’s how I’d go. I like Dez/Marsh/Green to varying degrees; just depends who’s available to me.

  11. Frank White says:
    (link)

You still like MJD?? If I skip those WR’s though I can always grab Fitz, Andre Johnson, Welker. I guess it couldgo both ways cause my next 3rd pick would be soon

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Yeah, I do; not seeing a reason not to with where he typically goes. Think you can go RB/WR/RB and be just as fine as if you went RB/RB/WR but it depends who falls to me and where.

      • Frank White says:
        (link)

thanks man!! What confuses me sometimes is when I know their rankings but when it comes to taking a rb to a wr, I gotta go with the overall higher ranked player.. How far do u go in a 12 team for a QB?? Also if Graham is taken then do you not worry about another tight end till around what round??

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I’ve seen QBs floating way way way down the list. I got RGIII in the 6th of the expert league draft and Russell Wilson was still out there along with plenty of other names (Romo/Luck/etc). You can wait on QB.

I’ll take a chance on Gronk with where his ADP is at right now (late 5th/early 6th) and then shore him up with Sudfeld later in the draft. I won’t be drafting Graham anywhere, part of his pricing is being top of the crop and I think there are plenty of values well after the 10th I’d rather take a chance on at TE then spend top dollar on him.

    Hey Sky! Nice write up!

I am in year two of a keeper league. I’ve chosen Matt Ryan in the 3rd (early I know) and T.Y. Hilton in the 11th (best value available to me). I did not set myself up very well last season as my draft was poor and I ended up 11 out of 12. This year I have the first pick in the draft. The RB’s that have been kept are:

    AP
    Dougie Fresh
    Alfred Morris
    Trent Richardson
    David Wilson
    C.J. Spiller

I’m thinking of going with Charles with the first overall and hoping to snag someone around the Darren Sproles/Ryan Mathews area. My question is how do you see my RB situation playing out this year? Is Charles the right choice with who’s available? Who can I likely see RB wise with the 24th pick? Should I try to pair Roddy White in the second with my Ryan pick in the 3rd? I am not sure I can salvage the crappy foundation I’ve lain for myself last season…

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Thanks!

I ranked Charles 3rd in my overall rankings this year. I’m very high on him. Keeper league makes it hard to determine how a draft will shake out because 1st and 2nd round don’t really mean 1st and 2nd round after keepers are considered. People are making their third pick to build around their team. Most likely, the 24th pick will give you more value at WR then RB but it depends on your leaguemates and where they’re keeping guys. I’d take a quick peek at my rankings to see how I value players for this year.

Hey I just found this site. I had found it as I was looking for some tips on my league which is 2 QB’s. I stumbled on your article from last year and man your suggestions and projection were pretty solid!! Wish I has red it last year though.

I also had a question for ya, or anyone else our there. ….

As I said my league is 2QB’s and also features 6pts for passing TD(10 player league). I know the way the other guys will draft and 10 QB’s will be gone in the first two rounds with probably 8 gone in the 1st.

I feel conifident if in my stragety if I get to pick anywhere from 4-10 but I am torn if I get a top 3 pick……..Do you think it’s better to get a the best QB and the tenth best running back RB, or vice versa?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Glad to have you around!

Vice Versa. I want a top RB. Difference in points between the top RB on down the list is more significant a loss then from QB1 on down.

      • Barbarian says:
        (link)

Well actually the scoring in my league is a bit different. I averaged it and top 3 QB’s last year scored 90 points more then the 10th best passer. Meanwhile the top 3 RB’s were only 60 points better in my league.

I am still leaning to your suggestion because I have a good feeling about some of the QB’s that would be available in the 2nd round. I would have my hopes pinned on getting either Ryan(dream pick), Stafford or Romo. How you you feel about any of those guys being near the top 5 this season?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Stafford has the best chance out of all those three to be a top 5 guy. He had a weird year in 2012. All the numbers were the same as 2011, basically, except for the TD passes. Like them all to varying degrees but QB is deep this year. It’s why I suggest going RB first.

          • Barbarian says:
            (link)

haahahaha, well I like Ryan. He’s my man. I’ve done about all I could for Stafford to not let my heart get in the way and I kept him on my radar.

Stafford absolutely killed me last year. In a H2H 6pt passing 2QB league you just cannot have your top QB go a solid month without a TD pass. Yep, that is pure murder.

Hey, thanks for the input man. I’ll defientaly check you out later.

              Sky says:

Well if you owned Ryan last year, he failed ya down the stretch. I simply think Stafford’s was fluky bad last year and had little to do with how he actually performed. Ask any Megatron owner how it felt to see him dropped inside the 5 that many times (he shoulda had 10 TDs minimum) and how many Pettigrew drops in the endzone happened and you’ve summed up the frustration that was Stafford in a nutshell. In the end, it wasn’t him, just a fluky year. I just think you saw the top of what Ryan can do last year.

Keep your eye on Hillman/Moreno’s role this weekend but outside of them, I’d sit on Bell and let things develop. No one else has a clear shot at what he can do if he’s given the job back.

@Sky: @Sky: Do you think i should hold Le’Veon or drop him?
        I’m in a 10 man .5 PPR, 3 keeper league.
        We start 1QB 2RB 1TE 2WR 1WR/TE/RB K, DEF.
Our only roster requirement is that we have 9RB/WR.
        My team is as follows:
        QB: Cam,Big Ben
WR: Julio, Cruz, Decker, Tavon Austin
RB: Alf, Ridley, Vereen, Mendenhall, Le’Veon Bell
        TE: Finley, Bennett
        K:Tucker
        DEF: GB, ARI.
Free waiver wire no order always open….
I’m debating on dropping bell…top options on wire are :
WR: TY hilton,Chris Givens, Hartline, C Patterson, A Jeffrey, Broyles, R Randle
        RB: Hillman, B pierce, B Brown, P Thomas, F Jax, J Bell, K Moreno, R Helu, I Pead, J Stew, S Greene
        TE: Z Ertz, D. Allen, J Thomas, E Dickson
        DEF: Bal, SD
Sorry for the long question and thanks for your time.@Sky: what about dropping austin for ty hilton? also what do you think of my team overall? my three keepers headed into the season were julio, cruz, and morris and i took ridley 4th overall and bell 14th and cam 24th in draft. not too shabby

Hold for now, see what you get with Tavon. He’s your 4th WR, doesn’t hurt to see if he becomes a PPR monster or not. Like Hilton as a poor man’s Mike Wallace type but your league is shallow enough you don’t have to rush to pick him up.

Your team’s not bad, just some guys whom I’ve mentioned I won’t be drafting this year like your TE guys and Julio but overall it’s a solid team and should be competitive.

14 team, PPR, 6pt passing TDs
    QB: RG3
WR(2): AJGreen, Shorts, T. Austin, Hartline, J. Gordon, A. Roberts
RB(2): T-Rich, Gore, Mendy, D. Thomas, Redman, Reece
    Flex:W/R/T
    TE: Fasano, J. Thomas
    K: none
    D/St:none

Thoughts on this team? I drafted from the 7th spot. 14 teams makes it HARD to get depth at RB. I kept getting value at WR, shocker. In a perfect world Gore and T-Rich stay healthy all year and I’m set, but we know better than that… I’ve got an inside source (teammate) who’s been touting Fasano to me, saying he’s a beast in practice and catches everything. So he’s my darkhorse at TE this year. Hope my boy is right!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’d be really surprised if Fasano pans out; even in a 14 team – unless you’re saying you start 2 – you’ll find good values on waivers typically. Overall, 14 team is always gonna leave you thin somewhere. I like your team; your RBs depth isn’t bad at all considering you have 3 startable ones and a possible 4th in Redman if he takes the reigns over Dwyer. All and all, I don’t have any problems with your team, you’ll just wanna really plan your FA around your TE position.

Already looking at last years numbers, found it interesting that even though Michael Bush scored 5 TD’s and missed the last three games that he had his 5 TD’s in only 3 games…yuck! People were so high on owning him to vulture TD’s, but that only occurred in three separate weeks.

Also league gives 6 points for passing Tds and 2 extra points when passing yards hit 250 and 4 points for 350 per week. Interceptions only -2 how far fetched is it to take a qb first overall, runningbacks are same 2 points for every 100 yards and 4 points for 175 thanks

  22. letsgobravos says:
    (link)

Hey guys, wanted to get your thoughts on how to approach the draft in on of my leagues. I really don’t like the settings we use, but its a group of my buddies who had the league going for several years before I joined in 2010. I’ve done poorly in this league every year so I’d really like to change that this year. I play baseball in a league with the same guys and have done well against them there, but we use relatively standard settings there.

    Anyways, here’s what we have….

1 point per yard gained applies for passing, rushing and receiving. 25 bonus points for 300 yard game passing or 100 yard game receiving or rushing. 50 points for each TD. Also 1 point per 5 yards on kick returns and 50 points for return TDs.

-25 points for fumbles lost and interceptions. An extra -10 if its a pick 6.

In the past almost everyone has gone QB in the first round due to the settings. Last year I went RB and then took Rivers in the 2nd or 3rd round and that was a disaster. I was getting outscored by a massive margin every week at the QB position and even if the rest of my team was great, it was rarely ever enough to come back. (I think I only won 3 or 4 weeks last year) Don’t know what the draft order is yet for this year. Currently have 10 teams and we expect to end up with 12 by the time we draft next wednesday.

    Two questions….

    1. Everyone seems to think there’s a lot of parity in QBs this year. Does that go out the window with these settings?

    2. How far down in the first round would you still take a QB? Let’s say I have the 8th pick, do I follow everyone else and still take a QB or grab Peterson or another elite back who will almost definitely still be available if the draft shakes out as it has the last few years?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I wouldn’t play in a league like that. 1 point for a passing yard? Do any of them actually watch football? It’s a silly league, just take a top end QB in the first round and draft a high upside backup one with a ridiculous league setting like this.

      • letsgobravos says:
        (link)

@Sky: I agree they are dumb, but my friends have had the league going for a while and won’t change it. I thought about not playing this year, but I play with them in baseball also in a standard scoring league so I’d rather just figure out a way to beat them in this one.

10th pick in a 10 tm, 1 ppr league with 6 pts for all Tds. Obviously I have to grab a RB, but with the 6 pt pass tds, I’m leaning toward Bree’s/Rodgers over dez/Marshall if my top 7 RBs are gone. I don’t trust anything Baltimore right now so I dropped rice out of my tier one. Seeing all of your previous comments, I assume you’re leaning dez/Marshall?

Been passing on QB until the late 8th because end of the 6th is where I grab my 3rd RB and a WR I can’t pass on like Steve Smith seems to be there half the time in the 7th.

Seems like some one always grabs 2 QBs, and I’m stuck with Eli though. Do you think grabbing both Eli and Vick at the turn there is good? or just play it safe and take a QB in the 7th?

@Sky: I hear ya on waiting for those. For some reason I thought it was like three rounds later for the D pick but Cincy could be top 5. Also think I should have grabbed Daniel Thomas last. I took Greg the leg hoping for some extra 50+ yard bombs. Yahoo gave me a C+ hehe.

Yeah, I hear ya, I just remember Walsh and the Broncos being FA pickups last year as people drafted what they thought would be top end scoring DEF/K. Just too much variance for me to ever draft unless it’s close to the start of the season. Thomas is looking like a smart hedge pickup at this point but I still don’t think in the long run it plays out the way Ireland’s talking. At least I hope it doesn’t…

Kind of new at this but found this site for baseball this year and decided to give it a try for football. Would love any advice on my team for my league with people at work. 12 team, Standard. 6 points for TDs(for all positions). QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, DEF and K.

    QB: Tony Romo/Michael Vick
WR: Demariyus Thomas, Vincent Jackson, TY Hilton, Kendall Wright, Aaron Dobson
RB: Marshawn Lynch, Stevan Ridley, Chris Ivory, Le’Veon Bell, Marcel Reece
    TE: Jared Cook
    K: Blair Walsh
    DEF: Chicago

Any suggestion to improve my team? I wouldn’t mind helping my bench WR a bit, but I figured I can do off the waiver wire.

Did you do this draft before or after the Le’Veon news? In either case, you have a good looking team. Probably wouldn’t have drafted a backup QB nor a K/DEF in your situation (I always wait on those, gives me a chance to hold some late upside guys until I know more), but it doesn’t hurt your team from what I see. I’d be willing to move on from Reece or Dobson if there were someone more interesting in the FA pool. Any chance Dwyer is still out there or Redman?

      • Ryan says:

After the news. I picked Bell up in round 13 so I figured why not. I wasn’t going to draft Vick but I read about what you said on the upside and picked him up in round 11. Sadly I was hoping for Hartline, Sanders or Gordon as depth but they were all taken in he 7th round which made me draft my D a bit sooner than planned in round 10(alcohol may also have been at play here ha).

Dwyer is picked up but Redman is available.

    Nate Washington
    McCluster
    Jon or Doug Baldwin
    Hill
    Stills
    Jarius Wright

I pick 7th in my 12 team league 0.5PPR start 3 WR, 2B and 1 flex. I’m expecting my first 2 picks to go either Calvin Johnson-Stephen Jackson or Trent Richardson-Brandon Marshall. I like having a top wideout to go with a top RB. 3rd round I’m thinking either Andre Johnson or Frank Gore. Who would you go with? Andre is ranked higher in your overall rankings, but my thought is I could get a solid WR in the 4th like Colston, but next best RB who I’d have a shot at is Ivory. I want Ivory, but it would be nice to plug him into my flex rather than count on him to be my RB2. Any thoughts?

Also, you state in your comments on Andre that you won’t be drafting him this year, but from look of where you have him ranked, he’ll be on a lot of your teams. Unless you pass on him for guys below him, but then what’s the point of ranking him #22 overall?

Thanks for the help. Love the information and humor of the site!

Definitely, I’m not against bulking up at RB. But Lacy went in the 4th round to him. Was a bit of a forced move, in my opinion, that didn’t need to happen; thought there were better values that could be had. Oh well, I’ll take what I got, not gonna complain.

Alright Sky, so in my 14 team PPR with an extra offensive utility spot, someone just dropped Kendall Wright. Obviously I’ve got to grab him (he’s on waivers), but I’m trying to figure out who to drop for him.

    QB: Russell Wilson
    RB: Doug Martin, MJD
WR: T.Y Hilton, Kenny Britt, Brian Hartline
    TE: Gronk
    FLEX: Chris Ivory
    OP: Pierre Thomas
    DEF: Arizona

Looks like a solid keeper team to me. No reason to upgrade WR, looks fine, especially when Gordon comes back. You don’t have to own Gronk but make sure you know Sudfelds status when he comes back. Be mindful if he retains a part of that offensive scheme

Team looks very good. Find it strange that you took those three QB and could still draft that quality of a team. You don’t even have to make that trade and for that reason I wouldn’t. Just hold and wait for when you need to make a trade.

      • paulzone says:
        (link)

@Sky: For some reason, I am buying into Fitz having a big resurgence this year. I wanted him. I like Cobb but think he will be inconsistent along with Garcon. I usually never trade this early but if I am right and Fitz puts up a few big games to start the season, the other owner will never trade. He might be a little panicked too after Eli’s recent performance…Bradford was sitting there in RD 15 so I couldn’t not take him! That’s my rationale at least. Thanks for any further insight!!

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Yeah but you’re backing him up with Hilton and Gordon. Not saying Fitz won’t/can’t outplay them, just think I’d rather reserve trade from depth for a more needed position for you if one of your RBs happens to go down since it doesn’t hurt your depth to wait at this point.

    12 team standard keeper league

With some big names being keepers, what’s a better possible start to the core of my team?
I have the #2 pick and keep Kaepernick in rd 8

    Here’s some mock possibilities
Team A (by rd): Spiller, Graham, Gore, Lamar Miller, Antonio Brown, Cecil Shorts, Golden Tate, Kaep

Team B : Spiller, Dmc, Fitz, M. Ball, Antonio Brown, Daryl Richardson, Olsen, Kaep

I know RB and QB go early and often in my league. If Graham falls to the end of the 2nd, better to do it or does it leave me with some lesser WR?

    • Sky

A, though you’re trying to predict the unpredictable based strictly off your draft spot. Taking Graham is fine, just depends on what you’re passing up. Hard to gauge that ahead of time.

@Sky: Just did my 10 team, 2-QB, 1 PPR, 1/2 PPC draft last night and it’s amazing how much better I felt about this draft than my 14 team. I guess it’s common since with a more shallow league but I felt like I got jumped in a back alley after the 14 teamer.

    QB1 Brady
    QB2 Rothlesberger
    RB1 Steven Jackson
    RB2 Stevan Ridley
    WR1: Marshall
    WR2: Colston
    Flex1: Garcon
    Flex2: Lamar
    Bench: Vereen
    Bench: Woodhead
    Bench: Ben Tate
    Bench: Sanders
    Bench: Thompkins
    Bench: Tannehill
    Bench: Helu

    1) How’d a do?
    2) How do you feel about Helu this season? I fully expect him to frustrate Morris owners all season and could potentially be a worthy flex play in PPR.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      1) That’s a solid team in my eyes for a 14 teamer 2QB league. Nice bench upside at all positions, should be competitive

      2) I like Helu as a Flex play with upside. Would take Morris to tank to become a weekly flex play but he should be in there on third downs for sure.

Man, just got done with my 16 team keeper draft…some of the prices got crazy ! But, I love my team. Bench is kinda weak, but i keyed on not really having a weakness in my starting lineup in a league that size. We also start 7 IDPs. Got booted and ended up with 2 DL players…oh well.

    Big Ben
    Cruz
    Cobb
CJ2K ( was best available after set keepers, and while I don’t love him, I didn’t love many of the other options either)
    Bush
    Bennett
    Hilton

    Bench
    Deangelo Williams
    Pead
    Kerley
    Bell
    Tannehill

    IDP’s

    D – Kuechly
    DB – William Moore
    DL – Chanlder Jones
    LB – Cushing
    LB – Ellerbe
    CB – Gilmore
    S – Yeremiah Bell

    Bench…Justin Smith.

According to the projections, which I take with a grain of salt, I am almost at 139 where the second highest team is at 125. My keepers ( can keep as little as 2 or as many as 5) were Big Ben, Bush, Cobb, Cruz, and Kuechly. I know you don’t get too much into the IDP’s, but what do you think of the offense? I must say I am rather pleased myself.

@JoeMorgan’sMustache: Oh, and one more thing…with the IDP’s, we have points for return yards ( 30 yards per). Not sure how much Cobb or Hilton will be involved in the return game this year, but I imagine they get a few…just adds to their value of course.

For a 16 teamer, that one looks nice. My only quibble would be Bennett but that’s an area you should be able to make up for if he doesn’t pan out. All round, looks competitive

@Sky: Thanks man, yeah, I agree…but I knew I would prob be weaker at TE going into this draft. Plus, had to spend a bit more on CJ and Hilton than anticipated…so that was a factor as well. Had to have some left over for the IDP’s.

    SKY!!!

Just drafted my 3rd team, here’s the deal, I love it!!! Within 5 min of my draft, someone offered me this trade. I know it is a no brainer, but it is risky, here is my roster:

    QB – Matt Ryan
    WR – AJ Green
    WR – Julio Jones
    WR – Andre Johnson
    RB – Ray Rice
    RB – Lamar Miller
    TE – Rob Gronkoski
    K – Matt Prater
    DEF – Denver

    Bench
    RB – Daryl Richardson
    RB – Mark Ingram
    WR – Jordy Nelson
    WR – Chris Givens
    TE – Jared Cook
TE – Zach Sudfeld (In place of Gronk even though I have Cook, don’t lecture me : ) )

Offered My Lamar Miller and Cook for Arian Foster and Jordan Cameron.

I can’t lecture you?!? What else can I do?

I’ll take the Foster side there. Team looks good, your WRs are pretty sweet. Here’s to D-Rich holding the job and Ingram stepping up. Might want to see if you can upgrade your bench RBs via trade with your WR depth, though. Just a suggestion. Still like your team.

@Sky: Haha, lecture me about have 3 TE’s.

I accepted, it seems pretty dumb not to as I’d have 2 RB1 even with Arian as a risk. I am so deep at WR, and some people in my league seem dumb that I can snag a good RB2 for sure. Thanks!! Looking forward to the season.

I’m shaking my finger at you right now, but now I’ve stopped. It makes it too hard to type. Didn’t hurt your depth so it worked out alright. Can’t complain too loud, but I probably would’ve only backed Gronk up with one guy is all. You’ve got a good looking team this year, hopefully it pans out for you.

Do I win big in this trade if I deal Brady, Amendola, and Jared Cook for Brees, Graham, and Britt?

    I get the Brees side

I’d take the Brees side. Probably the bigger winner there.

Your WR look a bit worrisome to me given that you only start two automatically each week. Would think there’d have been better starters available so you wouldn’t have to start Little in this setup. Also not big on your bench RB. This team is gonna need some of your late WR picks to pan out and for some injuries to make your bench RB viable.

Oh, and for the record, this a big reason I drafted Bennett…well, not really, but still one of the best quotes ever. I mean come on…Black Unicorn? I laughed so hard…for like 4 days straight. What made it even funnier was before last year he had essentially done nothing worth a crap on a NFL football field.

“I’m kind of bigger than I was. I’m more muscular than I was in the past. I actually started lifting weights really, really hard. But I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been. Ask any of the guys in the camp, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been, I’m faster than I’ve ever been. I could run all day. I’m kind of like a black unicorn out there. It’s amazing to watch. You go out there and you see a big, black guy running down the field, it’s usually me. So I’m pretty good out there. It’s been great so far.”

    Awesome.

Hahaha, that’s a good reason to draft him as any I guess. If he goes off this season I’ll totally call him that all year. If he doesn’t, I’ll call him My Little Pony

@Sky: yeah, and he sprouted antlers and shit, leaped over a defender, AND SCORED A TOUCHDOWN!

I had $22 left in my 2qb auction tonight (we start with 100) I got Gronk Andre Johnson jordy Nelson Mathews and lacy. Timing is huge in auctions but it pays to be one of the few teams left with money towards the end.
