Alright, it’s time to do your best Home Alone impression everyone so go grab your dad or your grandad’s aftershave and slap it on.  Even though it’s early, the New York Jets are stating that Mike Goodson is the favorite to be the starting running back for them in 2013.  And now here’s where you do your best Joe Pesci impersonation as that news sets your head on fire.  But watch your language there, this post is rated PG!  Ok, it’s not I’m just sh!ttin ya, curse away.  There needs to be an R-rated version of Home Alone just to hear Pesci drop the F-bomb.  Isn’t it odd looking back over his career to see all these foul-mouthed gangsters and then to have some kid beat the living crud out of him and only to hear him say ‘shoot’ and ‘gee willickers’?  Maybe he just hadn’t had his Snickers on set, we know how people aren’t themselves when they’re hungry.  But more to the point, something tells me Pesci and his cronies would like this move by the Jets.  Yes, in my world all American-Italians love Gang Green.  Heck, even Grey Albright does and he doesn’t know a damn thing about football.  Why is the baseball shaped like a cartoon eyeball and why are people catching the pitchers throws and calling them touchdowns?  That’s fantasy baseball Grey trying to understand this side of the site.  Speaking of fantasy baseball, if you’re a follower/player I have been writing on that side as well so you can get your fill of me in two sports, not just one.  Oh and we have a very good fantasy baseball side.  Ok, enough of this, we’re here to talk football!

With the Jets declaring Goodson the starter, it looks like Bilal Powell will be the back-up to start the season.  Bilal had a solid yet unspectacular season as the backup to Shonn Greene last year and it looks like he’ll get a chance to reprise being blah-tastic in 2013.  Of course, it’s the New York Jest we’re talking about here – that was not a typo – and no one had a great season so don’t hold that against him or Goodson when draft day rolls around.  In fact, this could very well be a breakout year for a career back up of backups.  You see, Goodson has but 160 carries in his 4 year NFL career so we don’t know how well he’ll hold up to 15-18 touches a game at 6 foot, 210 pounds.  What we DO know, is that Mike Goodson is an elusive back and could be the answer for a Jets offensive that needs explosiveness at the skill positions badly.  Right now, I wouldn’t go gaga for Goodson, lady or not, but I will definitely have him penciled in as a later target amongst running backs this season.  View him as a flex type thing who could turn into a Sex Type Thing for you.  In other 2013 fantasy football news…

Brady Quinn - Took over the back-up position in Seattle vacated by Matt Flynn from an earlier trade to the Raiders as he and Colt McCoy plan to compete for worst QB backup in the NFC West.  Hopefully neither team gets to find out who ‘wins’ that in 2013.

Emmanuel Sanders - Signed an offer sheet on a one year, $2.5 mill deal with the Pats on Wednesday as the Pats also resigned Julian Edelman.  I told you I liked Sanders year with my Emmanuel Sanders Fantasy Sleeper post.  That doesn’t change this season if he signs with the Pats or with the Steelers, especially with Wallace no longer in Pittsburgh.  What can I say, I’m set in my ways.  Now get your elbows off the table!

Richard Sherman - Quoted by The Vancouver Sun that “about half the league takes [Adderall] and the league has to allow it.”  He clarified in a statement on Thursday that not half but many were on it.  When questioned further, he started fixing his jacket buttons and then said ‘ooooh look, a squirrel!’ and left.

Rashad Jennings – Signed with the Raiders to back up forever injured Limp DMC.  BTW, don’t know if you’ve been keeping up with the news but Darren has said he’s excited for the 2013 season to start.  That’s never been a problem, Darren, it’s that you don’t finish them!

Wha up Sky hows it goin… I’m A huge Jets fan and I’m so pissed that Sanchez will more likely will be the starter again and the Jets didn’t even give a squint to all these great free agents that were available. On top of It They coul’ve gotten Steven Jackson or some great RB to take the pressure off of Sanchez and at least would’ve gave him a shot. They didn’t pickup that awesome trick kicker they were looking at, instead the Lions did… Can you give me any good news or a sign of brightness so I can maybe be happy to look foward to this season??

Mark Sanchez isn’t the entirety of the problems in New York, he’s merely a symptom of it. I’m not gonna defend him a bunch but in reality, he’s not exactly surrounded by extremely talented players at the skill positions so once Santonio Holmes went down, so did the offense. I think a healthy Holmes, Hill with another year under his belt and a running back who’s more than a plodder will improve the Jets enough for 2013. Still have a good defense even after Revis went down, Jets will be competitive in 2013.

What are they gonna do with the running game cause Green isn’t workingf AT ALL?!!

Green plays for Tennessee now and I just wrote about who’s replacing him in this article…Goodson has been declared the early starter but has an injury history and is a tad undersized for the position so he’s not going to carry the ball 20+ times a game. Bilal will probably get short yardage/goal line unless Goodson proves himself early.

@Frank Lynch: Only one more year of Sanchez if we are lucky. I am not sure he will play much this year. David Garrard might win the starting job in the summer. The Jets will be more fun to watch this season only because they could not be any worse than last year. I have only missed a handful of games since 1984 and, to me, 2012 was the worst season I had to endure as a Jets fan. 1987, 1989, 2003, and 2005 were dreary seasons. The 1995 and 1996 teams were inept. 2012 was the worst because of the ridiculous hype surrounding the team and the utter ineptitude of the offense. At least I had some laughs during the Kotite era. It was fun at times to watch those teams suck. There was nothing fun about last year.

lol yeah I hear ya.. The best Jets game i watched live was in I think 2000. Monday night against the Dolphins. OMG the greatest comeback EVER!!!!!

@Frank Lynch: a sign of brightness could be they get a top 5 pick next year…. It sux, I know, but teams will tank a season to get an edge (circa 2011/12 Colts) will trade Revis for draft picks this year or next. Holmes is healthy, & a better QB crop next year

thats a pretty hilarious take on Grey, he brought that up last year in the comments. “Hey grey, what is football?” Grey “That thing other people watch on TV”

Jets still suck, besides Nammath, my favorite Jet was Mr. Flash Gordon, Sam Jones

I’m sure Grey would appreciate it. I’m also pretty sure he never reads this so I get to say whatever I want, whenever I want about him and it’s all good.

Yeah, I don’t think the Jets are great but they’ll be more on par with what 2010 and 2011 were with some better luck with injuries. Their offense might get interesting if they get Chris Ivory, though. That man is Beast Mode-lite. Would love to see him unchained from that 4-headed monstrosity they have in New Orleans.

I’m cutting diamonds with mine over it. Had him as a sleeper last year but New Orleans is hell bent on making Ingram their man. I’d like Ingram a little more if Ivory is gone but they’ll always run with the hot hand down there in LA.

I think Ivory is better for their system than Ingram, I would like Ingram more if he played somewhere else. Don’t the Saints understand thwy are messing with the FF gods with their selfish, selfish acts

They’re really well done. Only way you can tell they’re knockoffs is they’re spelled Dogders.

I know right? Well not only that but I always hate seeing a guy like that languish in general. Michael Turner moved on late in is career but maybe he has a HOF career if it starts sooner? Just feels like a ridiculous waste of talent to bounce Ivory around for 3 or 4 years. Nabbing Ingram when you already have PT and Ivory was silly by the Saints. Depth is important but seriously, that’s overkill.

@Sky: Amen to that, wasting away talent when it looked like they needed some better defense over there. But what do I know about running an organization, I just play dynasty mode on Madden occasionally.

My favorites shirts they sell are the Los Dodgers the Doyers

Yeah very little. Need to get Madden 2013 when it comes out. I’ve tried other types that I used to play growing up but they’re story driven and you have to remember the goal. You don’t play for three weeks, you come back and have to spend a bit just to remember where you’re at in the game. So it’s all sports/action ones if I have time.

But most of the new ones like GOW have those weird interactive cut scenes. I lose interest when the game tells me to press square. Takes me out of the immersion factor I play them for

@Jack Full of Hate: I used to enjoy hitting people with a dildo that I found in a police station in one of the GTA games.

I have not played a video game since 2008. My PS3 has been sitting in my closet for 4.5 years now. Have a young son who recently colored a TV screen. Figure it will be later this year when I start playing again. I like that All Pro 2K8 or whatever the hell it is called. I also liked MLB The Show but only for the Home Run Derby. Then they did away with it and I had no reason to buy the game again.

I tried playing a game once (probably the game that came out in 2007) and lost 43-1 on default settings. I was the Dodgers and the computer was the Pirates.

Yeah I’ve always been like this. Watched Saving Private Ryan and couldn’t sit through the whole thing. I know it’s fake, but it doesn’t make me like/enjoy it anymore. Contra where you’re blowing up robots and Aliens? Sure. Covert operations in the middle east where you’re bombing people? Eh, just doesn’t work for me. About as close as I get to ‘real’ shooter is probably Golden Eye on the N64. Grenade Launchers in the Temple with 4 college buddies while we toke up and drink? Beautiful.

@Sky: Goldeneye on the 64 is one of my all time favs. Pistols only was the best for me in the Temple. Played that many of nights till the sun rises.

Funny you bring up Private Ryan, my grandfather was a part of the D-Day invasion and got shot and captured. Was a POW and according to him, had no ill will toward the Nazi’s because they saved his life, he got shot in the stomach. He only told me the story once, did not like talking about it. It’s funny how people promote their service and their medals with stickers or special license plates on their cars these days. He would never of done anything like that nor approved of the practice. The only place he was cool with it was the VFW, where he was the man, because those were the only people who could somewhat understand. this story brings me to how I feel about Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. It took me a long time to watch these things because it always reminds me of him and that pain in his eyes when he told me his story when I was 13. Interesting side note, the city where his POW camp was, was the same city my dad was stationed in the 60’s, go figure.

Golden Eye was the bomb. I mainly liked the grenades for the surprise geometry of it. I’d get guys with the Jordan vs Bird nothing but net McDonalds commercial all the time. Was the only reason I liked the temple/grenades was all the angles.

I had a lot friends who did and the guy that went in was not the guy that came out. I also had a bum shoulder and knee from my football days. I was too mentally independent to do that to myself.

I am a Jets fan who does not like Ryan. I did not want him to he hired in ’09. Leslie Frazier was my first choice. Jim Schwartz wasmy second.

Based upon the personnel there is no way for the team to be good in 2013. Hopefully, that will finish the Ryan era and Idzik can pick his own coach.
