I drafted most of my team from the passenger’s seat on my commute home.  It is quite an experience sweating the picks as your wife weaves in and out of traffic to get home in time while also stuffing my face with delicious chicken teriyaki! Anyways, I was randomly selected to draft from the 11th position and I started my draft by going RB heavy with DeMarco Murray and Jordan Howard with my first two picks. I was debating taking AJ Green at 11, but in a standard league I opted for the rushing floor of Murray and Howard. With my third selection, I opted for Alshon Jeffery because he will be a target monster for a young QB in Carson Wentz and when healthy is a touchdown monster also. I am normally very much against drafting a QB in the early rounds, but I was elated to find out that Aaron Rodgers dropped to me in the 4th round. I am perfectly comfortable setting and forgetting my QB position while Rodgers racks up elite yardage and touchdowns for my squad. In the end of the 5th round, I took a gamble with Sammy Watkins as my WR2 in a new offense in Los Angeles as an alpha receiver and paired him with a very much touchdown dependent Kelvin Benjamin in the 6th round. I doubled down once again on receivers in the 7th and 8th round with Brandon Marshall and my underrated WR pick of Pierre Garcon and I am pretty happy about those selections to round out my top5 receivers. I was debating going with Darren McFadden in the 8th round, but didn’t want to select a player that early that would really only be an asset for 6 weeks of the season. I am sort of regretting taking Rodgers so early with QB like Cousins, Winston, Luck and Wilson still on the board through 8 rounds. I then took 2 running backs that I am not super confident in with Duke Johnson because of his transition to slot receiver for the Browns and Jacquizz Rodgers because of his opportunity to contribute to the Buccaneers after Doug Martin serves his 4 game PED suspension. My options were limited and I wanted to make sure I had at least viable bodies in case of injury or bye week issues. I went with hyped receiver Adam Thielen and receiving back Matt Forte with my next two picks and regret not taking a TE when I saw Martellus Bennett go off the board.  I ended up settling for Jack Doyle later, but I am worried about his role with Andrew Luck sidelined. I then took a shot on the Patriots running back that is getting a ton of buzz in Rex Burkhead, but he could end up busting for my squad and being cut-bait mid-season. There was some sort of player refresh and it seemed to be an addition of DB, which included safeties, so I grabbed Sua’a Cravens from Washington as my top DB. I then later went after Washington linebacker Zach Brown and Rams’ holdout Aaron Donald to round out my first IDP draft. My draft went a little off the rails in the deeper rounds by chasing Doyle insurance with Coby Fleener, selecting a boom-or-bust WR in JJ Nelson and a tiny handcuff for Howard with Langford. This draft was so deep that there will be slim picking on the waiver wire, especially for QBs and RBs.  I’m looking forward to being competitive in this league this season! – BenK

Very fun draft to participate in, as there were many different styles employed. As for my squad, I’m happy with how it turned out. Going into the draft, I knew that I was going to wait at QB and the defensive positions. Since we only need to start one of each, I didn’t feel like it was necessary to pay up for one. There would be plenty of more than viable options at the end. As for RB, I feel like DJ and Bell are head and shoulders above everyone else. If I didn’t land either, I would pass on the second tier and pound the tier below. I was dealt the #4 pick and used it on Julio. Since we start 3 receivers, I was pretty happy about that. In the second, I took Gronk. Coming into the draft, I was either going to pay up for Gronk or wait till the end. Looking at the WR landscape, I liked Michael Thomas and Pryor the best. Since I felt like I could get Pryor in the 3rd, I went ahead and took Gronk. When healthy, he’s a true difference maker. After Gronk, for the next 14 rounds, I basically just accumulated as many receivers and backs as I could. I wish I took a few more home run hitters at receiver though . For the backs, I’ve got maulers with a ton of PPR guys. Also mixed in some guys with huge upside if they can get the starting job. I’m very high on the Vikings offense, so I was happy to take Bradford in the 17th round and pair him with Diggs. I wanted Dalvin Cook but he went in the 2nd. Anyways, good luck to everyone! So freaking glad that football is finally back. – SON

This draft took WAY too long. It was so long that Jenn was able to walk her dog, take a dump and heat up some lasagna in between her picks (chat log included below). Meanwhile I was busy trying to figure out who I should draft for my IDP spots. Until this draft I thought IDP stood for I Don’t Play in individual defensive player leagues. As it turns out, it stands for Immediate Disaster Plan, which I am going to need after this draft. Starting with the tenth pick absolutely stinks. I could have made that last sentence quite a bit more graphic, but it’s early and I’m tired and I’d rather not offend any of you this early in the season. I’ll wait until next week to let the four letter words fly. The way I see it, you really want to be one of the first five or six picks. After that, it’s more of a guessing game. I took Devonta Freeman. I’m nowhere near thrilled about the pick. I like Freeman, but he’s got Tevin Coleman stealing carries and is currently in the concussion program. I debated between Freeman and Jordan Howard, but decided to go Freeman, hoping Howard would still be there in five picks when it came back to me. He was not of course, as he was picked right before my next turn. So instead I took Michael Thomas. Since we need to start three wide receivers in a half-point PPR league, taking the highest ranked WR still on the board was probably the right move. With my third pick I went against the grain and snagged Julian Edelman. I still think he’s a strong player in PPR formats and will continue to be Brady’s safety net. Speaking of Brady, he ended up being my forth round pick. Given the players on the board I was considering Aaron Rodgers, but wasn’t sure I wanted to take a QB quite yet. Well Rodgers was selected right before my pick. This put the QB bug in my head and I pulled the trigger on Brady to compliment Edelman. After this it was all about just filling in my starting lineup. I was literally debating between Carlos Hyde, Spencer Ware and Allen Robinson. I’m not a big fan on Robinson after he did me raw last season, but I thought he’d be a good value in the fifth round. Well Robinson and Ware were taken with the two picks preceding mine. So I took Ware. If I’m being honest, I’m a bit “wary” of him. Since Robinson was gone I went with Larry Fitzgerald on the wrap. The only other pick I’d like to mention is Adrian Peterson in the seventh. The word on the street is that he looks pretty good, and in the seventh round I think he’s a value play. In case he’s a bust, I grabbed Latavius Murray in the 18th! Overall I’m not very excited about my team, but that most likely means I will win the league. Good luck everyone…  malamoney

Having 12th pick again is starting to become a theme since it seems to happen in every league I’m in. That being said, as usual I got the opportunity to pick the worst of the worst since it was always last call and I was left with guys who tear ACL’s getting out of bed in the morning. All in all I think the draft went well for everyone else. Greetings! To dominate other great men, one must first study his opponent, mind-humping them like a horny Basset Hound, looking for chinks in their armor. What I discovered on this fascinating journey through anal probing was that I truly drafted the greatest all-around squad in our league. I started with two of the most dynamic receivers in the NFL in OBJ and Dez Bryant, both of whom I expect to have monster seasons. When it came time to select a third wideout, I wasn’t enamored with the value of any of the receivers on the board so I took Jordan Reed to pair with Jimmy Graham who I had already selected. Yes, the famed double tight offense! Your grandchildren will learn of it in books written by great scholars many decades from now. Now, we MUST start three receivers every week so I chose high upside young men, out of which I expect at LEAST one of them to breakout, and possibly more. Corey Coleman is probably the greatest breakout candidate among them, but I also swooped Washington alum, John Ross, top five overall pick, Corey Davis and former top pick, Kevin White. Barring injury, White is in for a monster year target-wise as Meredith just went down for the season with an injury. One could say the Elder Gods are looking out for me, eh? Running back is a bit hazy, but getting Lamar Miller in the third round this year is a steal as he has a good chance of being the guy we all thought he’d be last season. Rob Kelly looked very nice this past weekend and along with Terrance West, gives me two more sure thing starting running backs who should get the goal-line work. Marlon Mack of the Colts is one of my breakout candidates and I plan on him taking the job from Frank Gore sooner rather than later, or at least using his receiving skills to split time and be fantasy relevant right out of the gate. Finally, at QB, I swooped Cam Newton, CRIMINALLY LATE, I MIGHT ADD! Coming off his MVP this man was a borderline first rounder last year so I feel like people are really sleeping on the big dog in 2017. With the rookie pass catching additions and a healthier Kelvin Benjamin, I feel like there is no limit to what Newton can accomplish. Say one thing for Tehol Beddict, say that he is blessed by the Elder Gods and will probably go undefeated i this league. Witness. – Tehol Beddict

I’m really happy with how this draft fell for me. I was picking out of the second spot and took Le’Veon Bell. I almost took Antonio Brown here instead but decided to lock up a top running back instead. I think I came away with a good amount of top talent at each position and supplemented with what I hope is some good depth. I really liked being able to get Travis Kelce at the top of the third round and then turning around and getting Jarvis Landry at the end of the fourth, since I was considering Landry in the third anyway. I took Drew Brees in the fifth, which is normally too early for me to take a QB, but I decided the value was right for me with Brady and Rodgers off the board a round earlier. One of my favorite buy lows this draft season has been Cameron Meredith, so his ACL injury really stung me in a few leagues. I have a lot of Meredith stock, and that is now already a wasted pick. Luckily, I stocked up on a bunch of wide receivers who have varying levels of upside late in Jordan Matthews, Kenny Stills, Torrey Smith, and Mohamed Sanu. And since Meredith was already my fourth receiver behind Amari Cooper, Jarvis Landry, and Randall Cobb, I think I will be OK there. As for the draft as a whole, I thought it was pretty interesting. I haven’t done many leagues with Individual Defensive Players outside of a league last year that had you draft an entire defensive squad of 11 starters, so it was interesting to see the different strategies. Obviously, Jay and Easy E went bold and took J.J. Watt and Khalil Mack in the third round, and Jen took Joey Bosa at the wheel in the fourth. Everyone else waited a while, and Jay actually took his second defensive player in the eighth round before anyone else took their first. I got all three of mine in a row in the 13th, 14th, and 15th rounds, but I will be interested to see all season just how significant those early defensive picks end up being. – Mike Maher

Really enjoyed the draft, was my first “real” one of the season. I had pick 8, which is not ideal. It was a hard choice between Jay Ajayi and Melvin Gordon as I like them both and went Gordon simply because Rivers > Cutler.  Looking back at the Running Back depth available later I’m thinking probably should’ve gone AJ Green and gotten that top tier WR; My second rounder was Todd Gurley; I debated taking Dez Bryant instead, and I immediately regretted it as RBs sat on board for a while.  In three I took my #1 WR in Demaryius Thomas. Next was a debate between Fournette and Crowell and went Fournette, hoping he works out about 3/4 as Elliott did last year. In Round 5 I was looking at Allen Robinson, Emmanuel Sanders, Sammy Watkins and Kelvin Benjamin. Went Robinson since he has the most talent, then took Sanders on the comeback. I realize I have two Broncos and two Jaguars, and their QBs are Seimen and Bortles. Crap.  Anyway, my favorite pick probably is Blount in round 8 or Big Ben in round 14. Don’t see how both don’t easily outplay their draft round. I had 8 QBs in my queue from about round 8 on, and it took until round 14 for that list to dwindle to 3, which is when I dove in. Surprised to see Zeke go in round 2, and two defenders in round three. When they went back to back I picked right after and was thinking (hoping?)  it would start a run but I wound up waiting on Defenders until the last 4 rounds. Drafted a bunch of RBs and WRs early since I wanted to have a lot of depth with 9 bench spots. Overall I’m pretty pleased with my team. – PhilOPS

I love my team. I made the mistake in the Industry Duds draft of waiting too long for a receiver so following David Johnson, I grabbed Keenan Allen. I wanted as much Christian McCaffrey stock as possible this season, so I made sure to grab him up as my RB2. Taking Martavis Bryant, Golden Tate, and Willie Snead in 3 straight rounds is something I’m really excited about. Matt Ryan was still around in the 7th round, and while I’m no very hot on him this season, I couldn’t resist #datvalue. I got my boy Kenny Golladay, of course, in the 10th round as well. I like my IDP picks to,  led by Lavonte David. – Matt Bowe
