For many leagues, this is the final week before the playoffs.  With bye weeks behind us and the end of the season in sight, matchups have never been more important.

Sure, The Titans may not have been able to fully take advantage of The Jaguars awful pass defense, but The Bills should have a much easier time making plays which puts Steve Johnson on my own personal must start list.  After making six catches for 106 yards against The Colts, Johnson should find pay dirt for the first time since week 7 when The Jaguars come to town.  Look for another 90+ yard day as well to give him a solid 15-17 fantasy points on the day.

So we’re going to start this post with a little hint on how I view wide receivers.  There are a lot of extremely talented receivers in the game but there are really only a few that can dictate the game itself.  Calvin Johnson is one of those guys.  So is Larry Fitzgerald.  They catch everything that is thrown near them, essentially.  They have the ability to make guys like Shaun Hill and John Skelton look almost decent.  If that’s not talent, I don’t know what is.  Now I’m not gonna lie and say Robert Meachem is of that level but there are truly few who are anyway.  What I WILL say, though, is on the other side of the spectrum you can have a good to great quarterback making decent players look like superstars.  Eli Manning has made 1000 yard receivers from guys like Steve Smith.  No, not that Steve Smith.  THAT Steve Smith.  All this to say, quarterbacks can make or break the ‘talent level’ of some wide receivers and so can the system they play in.  With that, let’s take a closer look at why I’m reachin for Meachem (even reachin for rhymes too, apparently).

I had a potentially volatile situation with one of the owners in my fantasy football league. It’s a pay league and I’m the commissioner. I hit up Doc to see if he wanted to take over. He was unavailable due to his time constraints – watercoloring and figure skating takes up a lot of his time.

Hey sports fans; let’s see who’s on the target fairy’s good side for week 6.

Big Week Bruisers

Santonio Holmes: When asked if he learned anything from his four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy Holmes replied in an ESPN interview, “To look in your eyes and be honest with you, not 1%.  I’ve been the same person since I stepped foot in this NFL, I’ll (continue) being the same person until I leave.”  Though that wasn’t what parents and D.A.R.E.

Is it just me or is trying to guess what fully independent adults’ will do against other fully independent adults on Sundays getting more difficult?  It seems like those who drafted well are getting punished this year as mid round guys and waiver wire wonders are ruling the roost while early round studs are either getting injured or letting us down.  Wouldn’t fantasy football have been great/predictable if it were around in the 70’s?  You would know who was getting the ball every week with few surprises, there would be fewer injuries, and you wouldn’t have to worry about running backs by committee.  Anyway, I digress.  Let me give you some idea as to who you want to pull the trigger on, and who you had better stay away from.
