Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

There are some things in life that just don’t work out the way you want them to.  You want to be a rock star.  But you’re an accountant and you sound like Darius Rucker.  Hootie and The Blowfish were never a rock band so you’re never going to be a rock star.  I know, I’m sorry, the truth hurts.  But once you figure that out, you get to pay better attention to what you CAN do and you start singing at college coffee houses to 15 to 20 disaffected youth.  It’s a good feeling to know your place.  Well, I think the Jags have finally figured out what Blaine Gabbert is: he’s not a rock star.  I don’t even know if he should be singing in coffee shops which I’ll say is a euphemism for the CFL.  Admittedly, he was hurt last week and probably shouldn’t have played but the facts are facts: his team scored zero points with him at the helm and he was slinging it everywhere but to his receivers.  If you don’t believe me, just ask Cecil Shorts.  He finished last week with just 3 catches on 11 targets.  That’s some straight up Skelton to Fitz circa 2012 if you ask me.  Thankfully, this week Cecil gets not one but two benefits.  Firstly, Henne steps in to QB the Jags, a man with whom he had a very good rapport in 2012.  Secondly, he gets to face Oakland.  I don’t know if you’ve heard this one before, but they aren’t very good.  This should be a coming out of your Shorts party for Cecil and his backfield bro, MJD and a main reason why I said to Buy them yesterday.  In other points of differentiation, I like S-Jax more then others this year week as I’m playing the ‘former team, emotional player’ motif with him and sliding Ray Rice down due to the Cleveland front being better then people are willing to give them credit for.  Don’t ask about Amendola, I’ll tell you out right: it’s me praying he plays.  I’ll move Edelman/Thompkins up if he’s scratched but until it’s 100% true, I shall stay in denial.  Defenses…well, just look at my 8-10 and their comparison to the ECR.  Pretty clear how I stand there.  I don’t post buys on defenses but Dallas’ approach reminded me a lot of what the Bears do out there: ballhawks everywhere.  Could be a good, sneaky hold if you got them for this week the rest of the way.  And with me devolving into talking about defenses, it’s time to get on with it.  Here’s your weekly rankings for week 2 of the 2013 Fantasy Football season…

  1. Ian says:
    (link)

Edelman or CJ2K in a ppr

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

If ‘dola is really out, I’ll say Edelman for the chance at a big game.

  2. The Thumb says:
    (link)

Amendola or D. Wilson in a trade (Flex spot). Is it close?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Ooph…I think you should be able to get Wilson cheaper but I’m higher then others on Amendola this year. I’d want the ‘dola side for now.

  3. Slim

    Buddah Lovaz says:
    (link)

I’ve got Ryan, Stafford, Pryor in a 2 QB league. I see you have Pryor ranked higher than Stafford. I like the start too but I don’t know if I can start Pryor over Stafford just yet.

I’m looking at my final WR spot and it’s down to…
Torrey vs Joe Haden, Marlon Brown vs not Joe Haden, Givens @AtL, D.Moore vs Jax
Your rankings say Torrey Smith but I have a gut feeling that it’s better to avoid Joe Haden.
My other starters are A.Brown, Shorts, M.Austin. Graham. TRich. Fumbilitis Wilson. J.Bell

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

You do what you gotta do. I ranked them how I saw them. Not sure if I’m missing any questions, let me know if I am.

      • Slim

        Buddah Lovaz says:
        (link)

@Sky: I knew I should’ve used a question mark. The WR thing was the question.

Standard settings except bonuses for over 100/125/150 yards.
Pick 1. Torrey, Marlon Brown, Givens, D.Moore. Torrey and Givens are neck and neck in your rankings.
Also I’m playing Joique Bell at Flex. Would a 2nd guy from that list be a better play over him?

I didn’t mean to berate your rankings. Just that I find it difficult to make that start. I’m gonna think about it though. I certainly thank you for avoiding run of the mill conservative rankings.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Still like Givens there and Bell got the starting nod at the GL. Think AZ’s defense is good but Lions offense is better so I like Bell this week.

No offense taken, I just didn’t see a question. Didn’t think you were berating, thought you were just talking out loud and I was like ‘ok…cool story bro!’

  4. Matty says:
    (link)

I see the rankings, but pick 1 please.

    PPR

    J.Bell or C.Johnson

Got beat up bad last week and looking for all angles. Not sure about CJ2K vs Texans.
    Thanks.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

You see the rankings but are asking me a question about the rankings? It’s still Bell…

  5. Big Ben 45 says:
    (link)

Mike Williams or Chris Johnson in flex? PPR

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      CJ but it’s close.

  6. Nightpandas says:
    (link)

H Nicks or V Ballard at flex this week? (.5 ppr)

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Nicks

  7. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

So I turned down his offer of Bush for my AJ and countered with Dez for Bush and he turned it down. Now this might be on the table (preliminary talks):

    His: Spiller/Cameron FOR
    My: Graham/Moreno

    QB – Wilson
    WR – Green
    WR – Dez
    WR – Peter Waiter
    RB – Forte
    RB – Gore
    TE – Graham
    W/R – D.Rich
    W/R/T – Decker
    BN – Romo
    BN – Hartline
    BN – Buc Williams
    BN – D.Wilson
    BN – Moreno
    BN – Gio

6 points per TD, 3 point bonus at 85 yards receiving/100 yards rushing, 6 point bonus at 135 yards receiving/150 yards rushing

Do I jump in and lose Graham? I could pick up Rudolph, Bennett, Celek, and a couple other bums for backups to Cameron if needed. Or do I look for a Dez deal for a bigger name RB?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’ll take the Spiller side. Cam looks legit. Plenty of passes hauled in that not many guys could. Do it.

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

@Sky: thank you sir, I liked the deal. I sent it out. It’s being contemplated on.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

          No prob, good luck!

  8. Gbbb says:
    (link)

Thoughts on Kenny stills for rest of year? I would only have Andre Roberts to drop for him.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’d hold. He looks like the field stretcher for them and the 5th option in that passing game.

  9. Will says:
    (link)

Mike Williams (TB) or Gio for the Flex option this week?

    Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’ll say Mike, but it’s close.

  10. Zandy says:
    (link)

Please rank rbs for my bench. No ppr. Need to start 2 rb and only have Lamar and Sproles. Since Vereen is done :(

    Available rb incl
B Bolden, Helu, M Bush, Knile, Dunbar, Woodhead, K Hunter

    Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Are you asking ROS or for this week?

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

@Sky: ROS – also forsett is available. thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Bolden/Woodhead/Hunter/Forsett/Dunbar/Helu/Knile/Bush

  11. Brown L says:
    (link)

I love it when all the fantasy websites are telling us to pick up Joique Bell or Hartline, but then barely rank them in the 30s at their position. Since you’ve ranked them as the #20 RB and WR respectively, who would you rather have at the flex? 12 team non-PPR, with shallow rosters, would be starting over the likes of Stevie, Ivory, and Givens.

    Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I trust Hartline’s role more, so I’d lean his way. Think Bush and Bell are gonna be the pseudo-slot receiver until Broyles is back and healthy.

  12. Chipper says:
    (link)

Pick 3: Ridley, David Wilson, Mike Williams (tb) and Givens (stl). 10 team, .5 ppr. Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’m sitting D-Wil until I know more about his role for Sunday.

  13. Anthony says:
    (link)

Trade Tate and Julius Thomas for MJD? I would have Martellus Bennett to replace Thomas as my TE. Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’m not a fan of Bennett overall but I like MJD ROS moreso then those two. I’d make the trade.

  14. Hans says:
    (link)

Somehow I feel like that standard / ppr button is messed up.
It’s initially set up as ppr when I open the article, and goes wrong way as I switch it between two.

    Is it just me?

    • Hans says:
      (link)

      @Hans:

Also, Gore or Stevie Johnson for Flex?

      Thank you

      • Sky

        Sky says:
        (link)

        Tough…Gore.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Probably not. I contacted FantasyPros about it a couple of times when I was making week 1 revisions, haven’t heard a peep.

  15. theevilempire says:
    (link)

With Amendola looking like he’s not going to play, how does that affect Edelman and Thompkin’s value?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Edelman becomes solid WR2, Thompkins moves up into the low 30s. Sudfeld rears his ugly head again in the TE ranks as a sleeper TE2.

  16. Chance says:
    (link)

Flex position has me lost this week: Who would you pick – K. Thompkins, T. Auston, R. Matthews, or R. Mendenhall?

    • Chance says:
      (link)

      @Chance: its a PPR

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      I’ll lean Mathews.

  17. Cole says:
    (link)

Thank you for the rankings Sky!…I see that you have Marlon Brown up at 33 (ppr), and I couldn’t agree with you more….I’m wanting to pick up Brown in my PPR league because he’ll have a great opportunity with Jacoby out, and he seems quite talented….but i’m not sure who I should drop for him?…my WRs are Pierre Garcon, Tavon Austin, Michael Floyd, Emmanuel Sanders, Lance Moore, Golden Tate, & Kenbrell Thompkins

I definitely wanna keep Garcon & Austin (PPR & return yardage league)…..So I guess out of Floyd, Sanders, Moore, Tate, & Thompkins, who would you drop for Brown?…I’m leaning towards Moore, he’s so boom or bust every week being the 4th option in the passing game…thoughts?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Tough choices…If he’s still out there and nobody’s grabbed him, you could give him one more week to simmer and see what he does. If you’re not willing to do that, you’re either dropping an old standby (Moore) or you could drop Sanders. Just don’t trust that offense in Pittsburgh…

  18. Zandy says:
    (link)

Drop sudfeld or cordarelle p to pick up bolden? or wait for the game tonight?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’d like to see what Sudfeld does tonight. He’s first on the chopping block but tonight could change that.

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

@Sky: Drop Stills for Bolden? Happy to wait if you think best – i have a feeling bolden sits tonight

  19. Clyde Prompto says:
    (link)

Howdy, Sky. Who would you start at flex in a ppr, Kenbrell Thompkins or Chris Ivory?

    • Clyde Prompto says:
      (link)

@Clyde Prompto: Oh, I have Gio Bernard as well.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

If Amendola really is out, Kenbrell. If not, Gio.

      • Clyde Prompto says:
        (link)

        @Sky: Gracias, fine sir.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

No prob, good luck this week!

  20. Shake N Bacon says:
    (link)

I don’t know why, but I’m really liking Miami’s defense this year. It seems like they are always getting to the QB. Call me stupid!

So would you trade Jordy Nelson for Eddie Lacy, where Lacy would be your Flex and Hartline would slide into your WR3? Or do you like Hartline at Flex and Jordy as WR3?

From your rankings, you’re a big believer of the Philadelphia defense. Is it partially due to the fact that their offense will be putting up points early and often so the opponent will need to play from behind a lot?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Well it WAS Cleveland…

I’ll do it if I need or want RB depth. You are trading down in terms of talent.

Yeah, multiple factors and that’s definitely one of them. The second one being how bad SD’s O-Line is. I see Philly’s offense gassing their defense and the Philly DEF pinning their ears back once they’re up. Seriously, I am a Ducks alum. Watching that game was eerily like watching Oregon play someone but just a little slower. They’ll need to keep adding wrinkles at the NFL level but the speed of that game is gonna put teams on their heels.

      • Shake N Bacon says:
        (link)

@Sky: Yeah, they’ll be a fun team to watch this year. I thought I saw something that said Lesean McCoy has 20 carries in the first half. Maybe that was 20 touches. Still, that’s a LOT for just one half.

Yeah Miami was playing Cleveland, but their defensive ends are QUICK to the QB. This week isn’t a great matchup for them, but I think they may surprise some people this year.

Yeah I have no RB depth. Brandon Bolden and Roy Helu.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

He only had 1 reception, if I remember correctly. Not surprised if he had 19/1 in the first half. The start of that game won’t happen again in the near future for Philly but the speed will still be there.

I always think Miami has a solid DEF squad, problem with good squads that aren’t great is their offense has to help. I still remain skeptical that their O will do enough to make them a viable week to week choice.

          Eke!

          • Shake N Bacon says:
            (link)

@Sky: Yeah, definitely agree about a team’s offense having to be worth a crap to help the defense. No matter how good a defense may be, if they are constantly on the field because the offense is going 4 and out every possession, they’re going to get tired and will suffer.

I’m going to role with Philly’s D. For some reason I don’t like Philip Rivers, so it will be fun to root against him. Thanks for the advice Sky.

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

It’s probably that he comes across as a douche. That’s my guess.

KC DEF suffered through that last year. Think they’re gonna be very streamworthy this year. Alex Smith isn’t Drew Brees or anythying but he’s definitely not a team killer. SF rode his arm and their defense for a year and did well.

              • Shake N Bacon says:
                (link)

@Sky: Good call on KC’s defense. I do like their defense. They have some playmakers at every level (lineman, linebacker and DB/Safeties). I should’ve streamed them against Jacksonville last week instead of Indianapolis against Oakland. Oh well.

True on Rivers…that and he throws like a girl. I don’t understand how he makes that work. More power to him though.

So looking at TE this week, Kellen Winslow looked like a favorite target Gino’s. You obviously have him ranked higher than Celek, but would you go with Winslow or Celek for the entire season?

                • Sky

                  Sky says:
                  (link)

Indy/KC/TB were on my rosters last week. Always matchups unless the def is so bad the matchup doesn’t matter.

Ha! It hasn’t worked for a couple of years now, though…

Entire season? Ooph, I don’t really trust either. I like Celek’s surrounding offense more, I’d probably say him but they’re both gonna be hit/miss the rest of the way. Not every week starters.

                  • Shake N Bacon says:
                    (link)

@Sky: Damn, I don’t know why I let Cook slip past me in one of my leagues (where I’m stuck with Celek for now). Oh well.

I don’t watch much college football (other than bowl games). Did Chip Kelly utilize his TE’s much at Oregon? You would think that he would be the 2nd passing option in that offense. Maybe third after DeSean and then McCoy. Screw it, I’m gonna roll with Winslow tonight so I have a reason to watch the game.

                    • Sky

                      Sky says:
                      (link)

It’ only been one week but I will admit I believed in Cook a lot more then others coming into the season. Just needed a better QB and he got one. Hoping for big things.

He really didn’t, was never a big part of the game. Most of the passing game was quick shots at the receivers or the RBs. Doesn’t mean he won’t use them more in the NFL. Can’t see Cooper or even Johnson doing much and it can’t be all DeSean. Just realize that for as fast as that offense is, it’s really a run-first team (only 25 passes on Monday) so passing usually isn’t involved unless they’re playing from behind (which will happen more in the NFL then it did in college, of course).

You know you’re an addict when you’d watch TNF because you have Kellen Winslow…

                  • Shake N Bacon says:
                    (link)

@Sky: Well nevermind. All this time I was debating Winslow vs. Celek, only to find out that Winslow is already owned in this particular league. Celek it is!

                    • Sky

                      Sky says:
                      (link)

                      yay!

  21. Captain Kirk says:
    (link)

    @sky

had a rough week 1… these guys were in my starting lineup…. Calvin Johnson, Eric Decker, David Wilson, Zach Sudfeld, Chris Ivory

That being said, got a predicament for my week 2 flex in a 0.5 PPR league. Pick one

    Marlon Brown
    DeAndre Hopkins
    Vincent Brown
    Chris Ivory

    Thanks

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Brutal…

      I’ll lean Brown there.

      • Captain Kirk says:
        (link)

        @Sky:

        Which Brown… Marlon or Vincent?

I’m assuming Marlon since you have him listed higher in your rankings for WR this week.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

          Yes, Marlon.

  22. Clint (aka Pablo Death) says:
    (link)

I wonder if Brick Tamland invited Veronic Corningstone to his Shorts Party?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Ha!

      I just ate a big red candle…

  23. Dingbat says:
    (link)

No love for the Miami Defense? They shut down Cleveland in week 1, Football Outsiders ranks them highly, and they’re facing an Indianapolis team that only put up 17 points against lowly Oakland.

    • Dingbat says:
      (link)

@Dingbat: 21 points against Oakland, that is.

  24. anthony says:
    (link)

    @Sky: who should i use at flex2

Chris ivory or Daryl Richardson ??

  25. God I hate Belicheat. Here’s a helpful hint regarding the Patriots injury report:
    Questionable = Probable

  26. Mike says:
    (link)

Guy with Cam,Vick, and Pryor wants to trade either
    Cam straight up for Gronk
Or Terell Pryor straight up for j Cameron or Julis Thomas?
I only have Romo at QB
Ad have Gronk,Cameron ad Thomas and TE
    Help!
    I want Cam??

  27. Zandy says:
    (link)

Trade proposed to me – Anquan Boldin & Chris Givens for Thompkins & Sproles? Thoughts?

    • Standard league? Hop on that. (Assuming you’re getting the Boldin side)
      PPR? Just say no.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Depends on your needs at RB and what James said.

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

@Sky: Std league, no ppr. Id be low on RB’s for sure

        Heres my team currently:
        QB: Brees
        WR: Calvin Johnson, Steve Smith
        RB: Sproles, Lamar Miller
        TE: Witten
        WR/RB/TE: Stevie Johnson
BN: Thompkins, Marlon Moore, Sudfeld, TY Hilton, Cordarelle, Kendal Hunter,K. Stills, Cutler

        Available FA RBs: Bolden/Woodhead/Hunter/Forsett/Dunbar/Helu/Knile/M. Bush
        12 Team League
        What would you do here?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

So…you’d trade Sproles and start Kendall Hunter every week? Woodhead? That trade doesn’t make any sense if this is a standard sized league.

          • Zandy says:
            (link)

@Sky: Yea standard 12 team league – the question is, would the trade give me so much value at WR (Calvin, Boldin, Smith, Johnson, Givens, Hilton, etc..) that I could then in turn go out and try to trade for an upgrade to Sproles anyways…

Or his RBs are McCoy, Ridley, Ben Tate, Bryce Brown, Shonn Green.
Do I try to get one of his RBs in return in the meantime as a sweetner and maybe toss in another WR of mine? Thoughts? Thinking why would he want to do the deal unless he didnt trust consistency from Ridley/Tate…

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

You can’t make a trade that hurts your team now based on a trade you’ve imagined will happen later. You’d have to ask him if he’d be willing to give up an RB in return, I don’t know what he’d say to that. Tate is – at best – in a timeshare and the only two starters he has are McCoy and Ridley. I’m hardpressed to believe he gives you either. Greene is hurt and a backup and Brown is McCoy’s backup so trading for them is like starting Kendall Hunter.

He’s doing the deal because it hurts your team and gives him more options at one of the toughest positions to fill. A position you’re trying to make yourself worse in. Again, the trade makes no sense.

                (link)

@Sky: Thanks! That makes total sense. Would you counter propose anything back to him that would help my team in RB but still get him Thompkins and/or Sproles? Would you drop Stills for Brandon Bolden hoping to pick up a RB lottery ticket?

                • Zandy says:

@Zandy: Losing Vereen has me in bad shape right now…

                  Sky says:
                  (link)

Like I said, you’d need a starter back and he’s not giving you Ridley or McCoy if he has half a brain. You’ll need to talk to him and see what he’s willing to give up between those two.

I’d definitely pick up Bolden there.

                  • Zandy says:
                    (link)

@Sky: Would you give up Thompkins in a deal for Tate? Would you give up Sproles in a deal for Ridley?

Yes on the first part, no on the second. Sproles=stability. You need that.

David Wilson or Jared Cook @ flex? .5 PPR. Tds for returns with Wilson if she returns the ball…

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Already calling him a girl because of all those fumbles I see…I’ll still ride Cook. He needs to prove he can’t do it again and I think he can.

  29. Tim Davis says:

Mark Ingram or Rod Streater in flex position, standard scoring? 2 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 flex.

    • Sky

Don’t mind Streater there, actually. Both are just wild cards anyways.

  30. TomtheBod says:
    (link)

@Sky: I’m liking Michael Floyd as a sleeper this week. I”m predicting a shootout between two of the most pass-happy NFL offenses. I think Detroit goes up big early and Arizona is going to have to try to compensate with a full-on aerial attack.

Let’s hope I’m right because Amendola’s down and I need someone to pick u the slack. Between Floyd and Golden Tate, I’m going with Floyd.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Yeah, I could see that. Hopefully Palmer stays upright enough to follow through on that for you!

  31. Mr. Rickey says:
    (link)

I have Jamal Charles as my RB1. I also have Shane Vereen but he is gone until at least week 11. No DL spots in my league so if I want to keep Vereen, I have to use a bench spot. I also have Joique Bell, Bryce Brown, Britt and Ivory on my bench. Would you move Vereen or any of them to add Knile Davis – I live in fear of JC being injured.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I take it this isn’t a keeper league. If so, you can drop Vereen. You’ll do it eventually. That said, I think/hope there’s a more useful player to pick up then Davis in FA. I don’t handcuff except in deeper leagues.

      • Mr. Rickey says:
        (link)

@Sky: 12 team league deep enough? If not, choices include Hankerson, Marlon Brown, Burleson, Da’Rel. Or, anticipating Cam’s bye in week 4, I could grab Rivers (DAL), Pryor (WAS), Cutler (@DET), Smith (NYG),Tannehill (@NOR). Thoughts appreciated.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

You should pick up Brown for now.

  32. Marcus says:
    (link)

I have Stafford and no backup in a 12-team standard league. His bye is Week 9 and I was looking to pick up someone before all of the other QBs are gone. Unfortunately Palmer has the same bye, and Freeman plays Seattle that week so I’m left with Pryor (vs Phi) or Manuel (vs KC). Who do you think I should put a claim on based on rest of season upside and matchup? I figure Pryor has more upside but something about depending on him rubs me the wrong way. As always, the Sky is the limit.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Not trying to sound mean, but why are you worried about a week 9 bye in week 2? Unless you’re worried these guys are gonna get snapped up, they’re out on FA for a reason. I don’t think you need to worry about it.

  33. Principle Blackman says:
    (link)

I’m thinking of trying to snag Spiller and Shorts from an owner. Do you think Eddie Lacy and Randall Cobb are enough to get the conversation started? 12-team 1PPR, .5PPRA, 10 Return Yards per point.

    • Principle Blackman says:
      (link)

@Principle Blackman: I was alternatively thinking of offering Sproles and Tavon.

      • Sky

        Sky says:
        (link)

Think you need to mix things up there. Depends on how high he still is on those two players. They both dropped duds on Sunday. I’d start with Lacy and Tavon, personally.

  34. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

Ok, so I have both Romo and Wilson. I have room for Pryor for this week for a stream. Do I do it?

    Passing TDs – 4 points
Passing bonus – 250 yards is 3 points, 335 yards is 6 points
    Rushing TDs – 6 points
Rushing bonus – 100 yards is 3 points, 150 yards is 6 points

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

If you have room to stream, I’d do it. Just like the matchup this week and think Pryor will still be running plenty. I’ll admit it’s a risky play over Romo, though.

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

@Sky: yeah, I have room. I am thinking about the gamble. I’m not playing Wilson due to his matchup. And Romo just doesn’t excite me too much that I think it’s worth the gamble. But I’m still not sure I trust Pryor to do anything, even though the Jags are turrible.

        • Sky

          Sky says:

        • That was in response to a post about 20 spots above this one. Not sure how that happened.

  38. the imp says:
    (link)

    Morning, Sky.
Yesterday you were higher on Celek than FDavis. Is it the potential for a Redskin come from behind shootout vs. a potential Eagle wind the clock down game that gives Davis the boost?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Playing GB in a game at ‘regular speed’ and having a QB who gets back in rhythm will play out nicely. Plus Celek only had 2 receptions (3 targets) last week and thankfully one was for a long TD or we wouldn’t be talking about him. Still think RG3 and company have the ability to play better and will.

      • the imp says:
        (link)

@Sky: Yeah both guys are hurting for targets right now. Long term Davis needs to get out of his timeshare with Reed (who RW claims is a poorer blocker but good receiver). Did Davis look healthy enough to pass Reed?

I’m a scrooge without ESPN, so I didn’t get to see it.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I’m a scrooge too but that’s what bars are for! I just saw an out of sync Redskins offense at every position. Think we see better this week. If I don’t see improvement from Davis’ numbers, he’ll drop out of my top 15 until he proves it.

@Sky: Using my WRs, can you help me with trade proposals? Any RBs you wouldnt go after?

WR: Stevie Johnson, Steve Smith, Thompkins, Marlon Moore, Sudfeld, TY Hilton, Cordarelle Patterson

Target RBs: Ballard, Tate, Ball, Pierre Thomas, FJax, Joique, Pead

        Thanks!!!

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Ehhhh, not really seeing you having the depth to make a trade if those are your starters. I assume Marlon Moore is…? A lot of those guys are in a timeshare. Not sure you need to make a trade for any of them and not sure you have the parts to make a trade for a guy like Tate or Joique, whom I’d want there.

          • Zandy says:
            (link)

@Sky: Well I have Calvin Johnson too.

So Im starting Calvin with 2 out of: Smith, SJohnson, Moore, Hilton, Thompkins being my other starting WR and my Flex

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

You’re not gonna get those guys for the right price. None of them are really must starts every week. You’ll have to pay too much, I’d hold and keep my eyes peeled for guys that are worth a pickup on waivers.

      PPR or non?

      • fitz says:

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

standard means no points for receptions, but I said PPR vs non…eh, doesn’t matter, in a PPR it’s closer but I still like Hilton this season more.

          • fitz says:
            (link)

@Sky: Sorry, I thought a standard PPR league meant 1 point per reception. Is the standard 0.5?

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

              No worries:

              Standard = non = non-PPR

Standard PPR (not a real term) would be .5 as it’s the most common. When someone says PPR to me, I assume 0.5

Im weak at RB(depth),TE, and badly regret taking A.Brown over W.Welker in an attempt to diversify my WRs. and drafting L.Bell in the 7th

Anyhow, might be early, but after this week, would it be wise to trade Peyton for Gronk or D.Wilson? I think he will be easier to trade than R.Wilson and will yield more in a trade? would you hold or wait it out in case a QB injury happens?

    Thank you

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Um, Peyton just threw 7 touchdowns…don’t you think you can get a better back then David Wilson? I don’t see a reason to roster 2QBs in a 12 team, 2 QB league at all. Trade Peyton to someone who needs a top end QB and has a top end back in return.

    • Aero says:
      (link)

@timmy riggins: With Manning you should be chasing RB1s, not David Wilson. Think Spiller, McCoy, Martin, Foster, could try for AP but good luck on that…

Also, I have RG3 over Vick right now, but it’s pretty close to a coinflip this week in my head. Any thoughts?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Tough. Depends on how much you believe Roddy will produce with his ankle sprain. I’m inclined to say no but it could very well be a great buy low.

      • If you have Josh Gordon on the bench, take the trade. Josh Gordon is gonna produce. Aside from Cameron, he’s all they got. He’ll get both volume and long balls.

Deep league flex question. Would you start Fred Jackson over Antonio Gates in a half-ppr? You have to like what you saw from F-Jax last week, but that Panthers front seven looks nasty.

Also, what makes you trust Roddy so much this week relative to others?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’ll go FJax because I don’t trust Gates.

I wouldn’t say ranking a guy I had in my top 10 WRs closer to 20 trust…I’m putting him there until I know his status for sure, like Amendola who’s about to get the boot and give Edelman/Thompkins a boost.

      • TysonFrozenChicken says:

I see you’re high on RG3 this week. You’d really start him over Wilson? Also, at the FLEX position, should I plug in Mendenhall or Chris Givens? I’m expecting a huge week from Givens, but I know Mendenhall will get touches and he’ll have a chance at a goalline TD. (scoring is 0.5 PPR)

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

GB DEF just gave up 34 points and RGIII outscored RW3 last week by a good amount even with how bad he played. Not seeing a good reason not to.

I’ll go Givens there for upside. Mendy is the safe pick but you might just end up with 6 points.

Gonna be a shootout on Sunday with Giants vs Broncos, IMHO. They’re both big plays in my book, I just have Hilton higher and would roll with him. Think Colts are saying ‘we should get this TY guy involved’ after that first week. Buncha derps.

I’d go with how I ranked them above for this week and say Johnson but it’s close. Going to be adjusting on the ‘dola news shortly.

  58. Sniff Test says:

For a flex play, Hartiline or Antonio Gates. We get preferred TE score. They get a 3 pt bonus every 75 yards where receivers get a 3pt bonus at 100. It is a point per 2 reception league. This player is filling the spot Amendola normally resides in. Golen Tate is an option too, but you ranked Hartline much higher than Tate.

    • Sky

      Sky says:

Hartline still. Not a Gates fan.

  59. goodfold2 says:

    1. i’m reading wilson still to get majority of carries this week. You still have him behind darryl richardson. So richardson or m. brown at flex? standard (no PPR) league
    2. g.jennings/moreno/jacquizz/tate at flex in .1 pt per return yardage league? I think jacquizz does kick returns but last week was all either fair catches or touchbacks, so he had no yards of that.
    3.PPR o.daniels/roberts/g.jennings/f.jackson/p.thomas at flex?

    • goodfold2 says:

@goodfold2: 2 is also PPR league, with return yards.

      1. I don’t trust D-Wil until he gives me a reason to trust him. I’ll say D-Rich there

      2. Hrm…I’ll gamble and give Tate a go with a flex play. Hearing split carries this week. If you don’t wanna gamble, Moreno has the highest floor.

      3. Roberts

  60. supra says:
    (link)

Sky, I noticed you have Wallace significantly lower than ECR this week… I have a trade on the table:

I give Le’Veon Bell for Mike Wallace in my 12 team keeper league (keep 6). Are you comfortable with that deal given my roster:

QB: Kaep, RB: T.Rich, SJax, Flex:Wilson, WR: Mega, Roddy, Moore TE: Gronk
Bench: J.Gordon, B.Brown, LeShoure, Freeman, Marlon Brown, Celek, J.Stew, Le’Veon

I’m thinking Wallace is an upgrade over Roddy for now, and better flex consideration than Bell will be this year.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Yeah, you’re sitting on enough RBs and two injured ones. Not liking the Steelers storyline right now, could be a long year there. Go for it.

      • supra says:

@Sky: Ah, I just had another offer accepted of Bell for Decker instead… I assume you’re at least just as happy with that? Thanks again.

    0.5PPR League

Who do I start at my flex.. Steve Smith @BUF or David WIlson vs.DEN?

Im leaning Smith as of right now just because hes the safer bet. Thinking I should wait to see how Wilson performs because one more fumble and hes benched again. What you think?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Yeah, Steve is the safer bet. That’s a play it safe or go for upside question, really depends on how confident you are in the rest of your roster.

      • Mike says:
        (link)

@Sky: great point… the rest of my team is extremely solid. we start 2qb/3wr/2rb/1flex/1TE.
My starters are Cam/Kaep/Cobb/Jordy/Nicks/Charles/Trent/Cook/ then at flex either Wilson, Stevie or I can start Dwayne Bowe as well..

Its a dynasty league which is how I built a team like this thru some lucky and smart trading. Thanks again.

Hey sky, the other day you said to start Dez/Edelman/Boldin and to bench Antonio Brown as my 3 WR’s in a .5 PPR but you mentioned you didn’t really study the rankings yet. I see Antonio Brown a lot higher than Boldin here should I still start Boldin over him?

    • Dave says:
      (link)

@Dave: Basically I’m asking because I just feel Boldin is a bit safer in his offense with Kap. And I remember you’ve always been low on Brown too.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I think I would. I don’t think Boldin will do terribly but I do think the Seahawks defense is lightyears better then GB’s and it’s in Seattle, one of the worst places for teams to play.

Are you starting White over Austin or A Roberts in a PPR league?

Also, who do you trust more as RB2 this week, Bradshaw, Ivory, Woodhead or F Jackson?

Ive been leaning Jackson after I saw him completely dominate over Spiller last week, is that crazy?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Right now I am based on my rankings. I need to know more about how White will be used before I move him down too far. If he’s out or very limited, Austin for me.

NE was testing Manuel. CJ was getting the ‘make the quarterback beat me’ treatment. Don’t think that happens this week. Not a bad idea but it’s Ivory for me.

      • RG3 Needs a Knee says:
        (link)

@Sky: In regards to White, he mentioned via Twitter last weekend that if he doesn’t practice, its not a good idea to start him in fantasy. This of course coming after people were blasting him for starting but being a decoy.

I saw yesterday he was held out of practice and was in a walking boot. Likely to help him heal but I would go ahead and drop him down this week. If he does get out there, its likely a repeat of last week.

    Hey guys, rough first week. Hoping for better luck in week2;

With Roddy White looking awful last Sunday who do I go with for my 3 WRs

I have Calvin Johnson & Steve Johnson as starters with Roddy questionable for my WR3. Other option is Hartline (was week1 a fluke, or is this guy finally going to play up to his payroll?)

At RB I have Trent & Reggie Bush. For flex, I grabbed Joique Bell (as I think he will be a good match with Reggie)…would you go with Bell at flex or maybe utilize Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, P Thomas or Roddy White/Hartline (whichever I don’t utilize at WR3)

    Thanks!

    • Sky

sky!! dude i didn’t sway your opinion re: marlon brown too much, did i?? cause seriously, i want to start t.y. hilton over brown in my flex spot this week (sorry ivory), but i’m kinda like “show me something” with hilton. is it really a coin flip, or were you maybe extremely bold with your marlon ranking? ;) good luck this week!

Ha, it’s not on Hilton, it’s on the coaches. Even they admitted they underutilized him last week. That said, Baltimore’s gonna take the cycle of abuse at the Browns after that opening trouncing. Can’t see them not coming out motivated and Brown should be a part of the plan.

      • Byron from Austin says:
        (link)

well now obvz i’m flexing bradshaw over brown or hilton. considering my starting rb’s are cj2k and drich, bradhsaw could end up my #1 this week, even against a decent miami d.

Flex I always lean RB anyways. Think it’s gotta be Ridley there but it’s close.

  70. Barbarian says:
    (link)

Am I a complete idiot for wanting to start Brandon Weeden over Sam Bradford in my 2 QB league

I just wonder if Baltimore’s torn secondary will give up half of what they submitted to Peyton Manning last week. I also love that the Broncos TE had a great game while the Brown’s use their TE a lot.

Whatever man, I knew I would hate myself if I drafted a Clevlend Brown.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Ha! I don’t think you’d be an idiot. I watched last week’s game and am a Weeden apologist moreso then I probably should be. But I see a perfect storm here. Baltimore’s secondary isn’t that bad and they’re gonna play angry this Sunday, as will the entire team. I see a beatdown coming and I’d be worried about getting shutdown if I started Weeden over Bradford. I’ll be more interested in starting Weeden when Gordon is back.

      • Barbarian says:
        (link)

@Sky: Ah yes, the anger factor. I didn’t really put that into my thinking. Seems like I’m gonna have to marinate on this one some more……..Maybe I’ll start Bradford so I can blame you if it goes horrible wrong, thusly, preserving my own self worth.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I assumed you’d blame me either way so we’re good!

  71. Shidesthelimit says:
    (link)

I’m in a 12-team .5PPR league that gives 1 pt for every 15 KR yards. I was possibly thinking about taking a flyer on Leon Washington for a flex spot tonight. Do you expect him to handle the return duties?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

He might but do you expect many returns out of the end zone from a team like the Jets? Most kickoffs have been touchbacks, seems like a wasted roster spot for a 12 team league.

      • Shidesthelimit says:
        (link)

@Sky: Noted. So if not him, who do you like better out of these options: Travis Benjamin, Ben Tate, Kenny Stills and Eddie Royal

so i feel kinda dirty asking you advice for the league im in with you… but i have a tough one that im not sure of..

in jacks league where we can start a QB in the flex i have a spot to fill with two options. eli and mcfadden. romo is starting in my QB slot. im leaning manning because it will hopefully be a shoot out and i have cruz in the same league (a lot of leagues). mcfadden goes up against JAX..

who would you flex? and dont tell me the wrong answer so ill lose! :)

@goodfold2: sorry, as i know how to read the rankings, this is a ROS question.

  74. Prezz says:
    (link)

also, in the RCL… i have no flex… my options are ivory, finley and streater. which bum would you start? i still like ivory and i feel he could have a decent game if he gets some touches but thats not a given ( or givens if chris is reading ). i had ivory in last week for this league and he got a whopping 1.50… i guess any one of these is a pure risk.. it has to be finley by default right? always liked streater but with pryor at the helm its pretty risky.. who you got?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Man, that’s a predicament…Finley by default, Streater behind him and then Ivory. Until the Jets pull their head out of their ass, can’t start Ivory. Plus, I expect both offenses to struggle tonight. TNF is usually pretty bad for offensive fantasy owners (less prep/rest time).

      • Prezz says:
        (link)

@Sky: yeahhh, friggin finley… im ready for my 2.20! guy can never throw up consistent weeks… but thanks again! and i agree with the TNF matchups, never a whole lot of offense going on.

        • Sky

          Sky says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if tonight ended 17-16. Kicker’s delight!

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@Prezz: hey prezzi, over at baseball you seem to be initiated to the (fairly unknown) site with the monkey with the knicks hat that hates baseball in general, but loves bullpens. Good for you. Me too, we need to get their subscription up to 100 million, so we can get the shirts.

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@goodfold2: i would think the lack of rest and prep time would hurt defenses more than offenses. the Def has to keep up with and guess at the movements of an offense, with less days to watch film too. This would be the opposite of early season baseball, when the hitters have less of a book on pitchers, and the weather is colder. Pitchers benefit from that.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I’d have you go look at some TNF scores from last year. Not many huge scoring games.

@Prezz: no, yesterday, i think, you quoted some bullpen info for vulture saves, with the exact wording from a website i’m not naming that specializes in that type of info.

          • Prezz says:
            (link)

@goodfold2: yeah thats where i get my closer info from. its an awesome site that no one really knows about. they are right alot of the time when other places are way off. and twitter has a lot of good knowledge too. ssshhhhh :)

usually dont copy and paste it but i was in a hurry at the time and just wanted to get the info out for the razzers.

          • Prezz says:
            (link)

@goodfold2: although i didnt know about the shirts.. now i want one!

          • Prezz says:
            (link)

@goodfold2: also… rotoworld has a great section in the forums with nothing but closer info. its just random people commenting but they know their stuff pretty well. should check it out!

            • goodfold2 says:
              (link)

@Prezz: yeah those kind of spots often have local fans, who often know a lot about their own teams. as far as the shirts look under FAQ in the top left, however, it’s clearly a joke, as they aren’t ever getting 100 million subscribers. The twitter info is usually the stuff that eventually gets to rototimes.com

              • Prezzii says:
                (link)

@goodfold2:yeah they are definitely not getting a mill.. haha i just found out about it this year, its pretty useful. especially for people dying for saves. twitter has a lot of people that give good heads up for 3 day guys and injuries. i always verify everything through the monkey site tho.

Yeah, I’m not saying Freeman is the best QB out there but Schiano is the one on the hotseat with his team, not so much Josh. At least that’s what I’ve seen/gathered. Whole thing’s a mess. I’m really glad I ranked Doug Martin #1!

      • TJ says:
        (link)

@Sky: You’re not alone and I’m playing him anyway, instead of Sproles. Maybe Freeman won’t show up for the game and Martin can hand off to himself.

I check out his bio and learn that he’s a Duke law grad and his hobbies include poker, card and coin magic. Would you play poker with a lawyer whose hobby is sleight of hand?

The stupid part is his injuries have never been what you’d label injury prone (i.e. nagging). But this groin thing tops the taco. Bro is no better then DMC at this point.

is anybody else having problems after the update? It no longer shows the list(s) at all, just a boldfaced “Updated 3:50 9/12/13″ Nice to know how up to date the info i’m missing is, i guess. It worked fine pre-update.

    MJD and Eli for Graham?

I have Vick as my QB and Winslow is my TE. Have Trent Richardson, Lacy, Ivory, and Gio at RB. Start 2 RB, 3WR, 1 RB/WR//TE flex. Hold with Winslow or pull the trigger?

      Sky says:

      What size of league?

      • Mark says:
        (link)

        @Sky:

        12. Every TE is gone, though. 1/2 ppr. I had pretty good depth at WR too. Cobb, Decker, Stevie, Hartline, Thompkins.

Not worried about backup QB. Tanny, Bradford, and I think even Pryor are all available.

          Sky says:

Yeah, wasn’t even looking at Eli, just MJD to Graham. I usually don’t like trading away RB depth but you’re getting a stud at his position who’s basically a WR2 in return…it’s reasonable. I’d gamble and take it.

            @Sky:

Thanks. I think I’ll probably do it. I have #2 waiver priority so hopefully I’ll be able to snatch up some RB depth one of these weeks.

Sky I was wondering if I could get your educated opinion on a potential trade.

I’m in a 12 team H2H Yahoo League where the score setting awards QBs 3 extra points for 300+ yardage, 6 points per passing TD, and -2 points per interception (compared to -1). The league also has two W/R Flex Positions.

I would essentially be giving Russell Wilson + Reggie Bush for Aaron Rogers + Eddie Lacy.

My other RBs are Peterson, SJax, Daryl Richardson, and Gio. Especially with these league settings, I feel like Aaron Rogers gets a huge boost compared to other QBs with his high TD, low Interception ratio and basically being a lock to surpass 300 yards every week.

    • Eric says:
      (link)

@Eric: Non PPR and other TDs are all 4 points.

      • Mark says:
        (link)

        @Eric:

That’s weird. Never seen QB TDs worth more than other TEs. I think you have to do that. Get the best QB you can in a league with settings like that. -2 is pretty normal for INTs, though. Bush loses a lot of value in non-PPR and I don’t think the difference between him and Lacy is THAT big.

      • Sky

        Sky says:
        (link)

4 points for non-passing TDs? That’s terrible…in either case, with that set of RBs it’s a fair trade. I’d take it.

        • Eric says:
          (link)

@Sky: Actually guys, I lied. It’s 6 points per TD but usually passing TDs are 4 points hahahaha my bad. Does it still apply?

          • Sky

            Sky says:
            (link)

            Trade is still good

        • Eric says:
          (link)

@Sky: But yeah either way, I just feel like Reggie Bush is going to break down on me some point in the season and in H2H, playoffs is where it really counts.

          • Sky

            Sky says:
            (link)

Even outside of that its just a good/fair trade

trade doug Martin and Ben Tate for Reggie bush and David wilson? 1/2 ppr. It would leave me with foster, cj2k, wilson, Reggie and Lamar miller.

Fosters in a timeshare for now with Tate…it’s a gamble, but I think it’s worth it.

I think the Lions are a sneaky start this week against a loose Carson Palmer. Your rankings say I’m crazy. Am I?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Lions gave up 140 yards to Jerome Simpson/Ponder. That secondary is pretty putrid, man. You can try it. Their pass-rush is great but your secondary has to do something to make it worth anything.

So looks like you’re not a believer in the Chief’s D. More because of the Dallas matchup, the easy Jax matchup last week, or just don’t think they’re that good?

They’ve got a legit playmaker on the Dline now in Poe to go along with their all-star LBs & DBs. Am I crazy to start them over Carolina this week?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I think they’re good but I don’t think it’s a good matchup. They’re streamers when the matchups right, though.

I’ll never call someone crazy but I’d rather go with the Panthers, personally.
