Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

It’s been a few weeks where this has been the case but it takes a rankings week like this to be firmly reminded: the TE position seems to always start with so much promise and seemingly ends in pain for about 75% of the league.  Remember when Jordan Cameron couldn’t be stopped?  Remember when Jordan Reed was gonna make up for when he was?  Remember when we thought Gronk would be back week 4 so we picked up Rob Housler cuz it didn’t really matter what your TE did for a few weeks?  Fun times…wait no it wasn’t.  TE has turned back into a cess pool and we need no firmer a reminder than Jared Cook.  Cook is still 14th in total fantasy points in PPR leagues at his position.  To put that number in perspective, after his week one explosion for 7/141/2 against the Cardinals he seemed like the stud we’ve all been dreaming of.  Now fast forward to week 14 and that game still represents 30% of his total fantasy points production on the year.  Woof.  And speaking of Jordan Cameron, he’s still 4th among TEs in total fantasy points in the same setting and we all know he’s done nothing since week forever ago at this point.  But with all this pain, there is a nice silver lining: you’re in the playoffs if you’re reading this so you made it through the slog and to add to your joys, there’s probably a streamable TE near you for this first week.  Wanna know who I’m talking about at this point?  Hint: I bolded his name a few sentences ago.  Jared gets to face the same team he torched week one in the Cardinals, a team that just gave up a 5/68/2 line to Zach Ertz.  You’re just gonna have to face the fact that Jared is gonna be a better play this week than most known names and I’ve ranked him accordingly.  Don’t worry, you can throw him away like the used condom you accidentally stepped on barefoot this morning.  You need to work on your trash can aim, bro…but if you’re sitting there with a bad matchup for your TE who’s not Gronk or Graham, Cook should be a great grab for this week.  Outside of that, I also like Martellus more than others do and someone is gonna have to explain to me why the Bengals at home against the Colts isn’t a sweet matchup.  Am I the only one who’s noticed how bad the Colts have been?  Wins be damned, this is not a good squad and not a huge challenge for opposing defenses right now.  Torrey Smith: I toldja I liked him for the playoff stretch and I put my money where my mouth is even though every one tells you that is just not hygienically sound to do.  Look a little further down beyond top 10 WRs and you see some surprises.  Andre Holmes?  What can I say, I’m a believer.  Jacoby Jones?  What’s good for the Torrey Goose is good for the Dancer.  Julian Edelman?  They’re not putting Joe Haden on him and if they are…well, then crap that was a really bad call.  Mike Glennon and Matt McGloin are hovering up near the top 12 just asking to be let in but I am the fantasy gatekeeper and say YOU SHALL NOT PASS!  Still, good plays this week if you’re a Luck owner.  Kickers were selectively lined up - naked and blindfolded – in an interrogation room where they were forced at gunpoint to listen to Barry Manilow.  Only those who survived made the list.  But enough about the kicker inquisition, let’s get this game rolling.  Here’s your week 14 rankings for 2013 Fantasy Football…

Y the slight edge with morris over rainey? I feel like the buf vs tb game will be closer… alowing rainey to get more touches. Sitting at 9-4…got second place locked down….facing top team at 10-3..
Would love to take over first for playoffs :)

Need to start 1 as a flex:

Nick Foles at number one gives this Iggles fan a warm fuzzy.

12-team PPR, I am (fingers crossed) starting McCown with Rodgers on the bench. If Cutler starts (this week or next), I could be screwed w/out a third QB option. Do you think I should spend what’s left of my $11 FAAB on Flacco, Keenum, Tannahill, Fitzpatrick, or EJ Manuel to play it safe? Would have to drop one from a Bench of A Rodgers, Spiller, Amendola, Montee Ball, Andre Ellington, and Jordan Reed (starting Heath Miller). Thanks!

      @de nachos: Haha, nice

You have rolling waivers? Or do they end at some point this week? It’s Thursday, odd day for a waiver question. Ellington is looking droppable at this point as is Amendola. Either or.

    • Sky

      (link)

@Cram It: I’m a Seahawks fan but this game worries me. Think we have a bit of a letdown game after a big win. Plus on the road. Don’t think it’ll be the ‘hawks finest performance.

      • Cram It says:
        (link)

@Sky: Agreed. I think it’ll be a sloggy, plodding game. But not in a Jets/Raiders way where they’ll be a ton of sacks and TO’s.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I don’t know, I could see an ambush in the first quarter a la what the ‘hawks just did to Saints. SF is gonna be hungry and they really need the win. As much as I love RW3 and company, coming out flat wouldn’t surprise me where they get their Aces handed to them for a quarter, maybe a quarter and a half.

          • Cram It says:
            (link)

@Sky: Well I challenge you sir! I’m going with the Rams over SF. With Carson Statue back there and no Ellington to relieve the pressure off the straight ahead Mendenhall…even I AM salivating.

It is settled. Let us unsheath our swords and stick them in the air and wave them like we just don’t care! I like STL but as you can see from the Rashard rankings, I don’t think STL contains the groundgame well enough to be that worried; he’s not great but he can catch passes out of the backfield, too. Plus it’s in AZ. STL just a home start for me most weeks.

              • Cram It says:
                (link)

@Sky: Yeah I see your Mendy ranking. You know where you can stick that?….Outside the top 25.

I usually stay away from road defenses but I don’t care what Palmer’s done this year…I think he’s terrible. And with the Rams pass rush (6th in sacks), I see him either hitting the ground or throwing a duck somewhere under pressure.

                • Sky

                  Sky says:
                  (link)

And I see a STL defense that won’t have a chance to touch him because he’s handing it off all day so you can stick your Rams in your Ramhole!

                  • Cram It says:
                    (link)

@Sky: He’s gonna have to throw SOMETIME (I think). Unless you literally mean ‘all day’, in which case Mendy would have like 200+ yards and that sounds like top 5 production to me. Do you have him top 5? No. He can have his 100+ yards, but unless St Louis absolutely can’t do anything on offense, the Defense should accumulate some points.

                    • Sky

                      Sky says:
                      (link)

Sure he has to throw some time. After the defense is on its heels from having been run over. Then Carson has time to throw. He’ll take his shots. It doesn’t all have to be Mendy to mean it’s all run all day with AZ. Rams offense will be their TEs with Kellen Clemons throwing to them with Stacy having a decent day but nothing spectacular. As we both know, they play the run well and their secondary has a lot of upside and the big key: it’s in AZ. And btw, I know the season changes teams but here’s your same matchup week 1 when it was in STL:

                      http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=330908014

I’m just not seeing the upside.

So in my RCL league, where my tight end position has been a revolving door, this week I find myself starting two tight ends, one in my flex. I think I’m going crazy!

I have Jared Cook at TE and Garret Graham as my flex. My other options at flex would be the Ogre (Ogbonnaya), McGahee, Ellington, Blount. Out of that group of RB’s, looks like you have Ogbonnaya ranked highest (for RBs in PPR). So I guess it comes down to Garret Graham or Ogbonnaya at my flex?

In another league, I have MJD and Laveon Bell battling it out for my flex spot. I see you really like Laveon this week. I’m worried that if he doesn’t play on Sunday, then I’ll have to plug in Montae Ball as my flex because MJD plays tonight. Rotoworld makes it sound like Laveon will probably play this weekend as he was back at practice yesterday. You feeling safe about starting him over MJD?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Shake N Bacon: Graham, as crazy as that sounds.

Nothing safe about it but Bell’s matchup is hard to ignore. At least Ball should be effective if you have to sub him in.

      • Shake N Bacon says:
        (link)

        @Sky: Starting two tightends…who would’ve thunk it!

Yeah I’m going to roll the dice on Bell. Montae looked good last week and I’m sure he gets plenty of chances again this week so he’s not much worse than MJD if I end up having to play him.

        Gracias senor Sky

@Sky: Weird, I just found out that Ball’s first name is Montee not Montae. I’ve been saying it wrong all along. I’m embarrassed.

I have a friend who had a cat named Monty. But said friend is not Gareth.

  12. attgig says:

.25 PPR leauge. I have my flex option down to Jacoby Jones, Joique Bell, or Pierre Thomas (Loudon seems to think that Thomas is a must bench though you have him over Bell).

    Who do you put in?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @attgig: Go for upside: Jones

  13. Zandy says:
    (link)

In a standard league I assume you’re taking Keenan Allen at flex over Ryan Mathews?

Also I totally understand your call on Cook and agree. I know yahoo projections are bogus but I’m projected to have a 17pt advantage this week for playoffs round 1. Who has higher floor this week witten or cook? Chicago hasn’t been too tough on TEs either but def not as loose as zona has been. Assume cook has the higher ceiling. Is it right to view cook as a hedge on me starting Stacy? As in if rams go down early they move to the pass from the run and cook gets a lot of looks…

    • Cram It says:
      (link)

@Zandy: Rams aren’t going down 3 TD’s early. Dallas offense should have a field day against the Bears. I’d want a piece of that. Witten.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @Zandy: Keenan

You know which one has the higher floor, you don’t need to ask that question :)

I don’t see it being one of those games. Not seeing the hedge factor.

Im little surprised by the ranking of JOSH GORDON clev so HIGH..MY thoughts are a QB throwing to him thats fresh off the street..also Talib covering and Bellicheck wanting to stop the main cog on any team..I see 3 catches for 40 yds can you give me your rational behind your rank as i feel im missing something.. Many Thanks

    • Cram It says:
      (link)

@Tom: You’re missing how good Gordon is, no matter who’s throwing to him. You’re also missing that Gordon has over 600 receiving yards the last 3 games. You shouldn’t be sitting him.

      • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
        (link)

@Cram It: i’m having similar concerns about possibly sitting Floyd (in non-PPR) for Hilton. Any of last 3 weeks that would’ve been terrible decision.

time for my weekly stacy vs wright at util in non-PPR. Usually it’s wright vs MJD but he’s above stacy first time (maybe ever, since stacy broke out) due to stacy’s bad ARI matchup. This is in a 14 teamer where my team is strong as shit, due to likely absentee owners allowing me to waiver (at different points of season) Jeffery/allen/stacy/ivory/mccown/reed/wright. pretty sick haul there.

  18. Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
    (link)

in PPR (also 1 pt per 10 return yards, jacoby does punt and kick) with brown/vereen at 2 RB slots and allen/Jeffery at 2 WR slots, i’m not insane for wanting to put jacoby at util over Moreno (ball, whom I also have, cutting into his workload). last week jacoby barely outproduced Moreno, could do that even more so this week if you are right about jacoby getting actual scrimmage yards. Last week Moreno’s running didn’t go well and his stats only saved by a LOT of passes (which could happen again). I still don’t see why DEN (with that record) would want to possibly overuse Moreno and screw themselves for the playoffs if he’s hurt yet again.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: Not insane but you’re expecting a lot out of return and punt yardage to make up for the consistency of Moreno. Vikings give up plenty of receptions to opposing backs. He’s still the start there.

      • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
        (link)

@Sky: was more worried about Moreno’s consistency slowly eroding from ball usage (hehe) than expecting too much return stuff, but I do think jones has had at least 70-80 return yards every game back from injury.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Understandable but I’m noting Moreno’s usage will be in the passing game. Not worried so much about losing ground yard work for Moreno. In a PPR, TEN has given up 73 receptions to opposing RBs this year. That’s about 6 receptions a game. Think Moreno can get at least 5 of those if not more depending on gameflow. He has a higher floor in my book.

          • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
            (link)

@Sky: Ah, TEN is that bad against opposing RB catches.

      @Allan: I’d give Cameron a go there.

  20. malamoney says:

Yesterday I asked whether I should start Garrett Graham, Walker or Ladarius Green. You said “rankings tomorrow, but for now Graham”. You’ve ranked Walker one spot higher, but he is still questionable and Graham plays tonight…

Pick 3 for PPR. Ray Rice, Keenan Allen, Kendall Wright, TY Hilton and Cecil Shorts.

Would you actually pick up and start Fitzpatrick over Russell Wilson this week?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@malamoney: Sounds like you should go with the safer/known option.

Fitz and TEN will be playing from behind. Plenty of passing/junktime yards.

      • malamoney says:
        (link)

@Sky: I also have Heath Miller and could grab Green if you think it’s worth not starting Graham tonight in hopes of Walker playing.

          Sky says:
          (link)

Graham got alot of targets last week. Think I ranked him high for a reason. We’re talking Walker barely ahead of him. Just go with Graham

  21. Greg says:
    (link)

I have a couple of REALLY tough decisions to make in my PPR league. First week of the playoffs and I really could have used a bye. Got some poopiedoodoo match ups for some of my best players…

Two WRs, on WR/TE flex, so basically three WR. I have both D. Thomas and E. Decker but their terrible matchup is making me throw up a little in the back of my mouth. I want to sit Decker because I feel like he’ll get plenty of attention after last week. For other receivers I have TY Hilton, Amendola, and Edelman. So this boils down to picking three out of Thomas, Decker, Hilton, Edelman, Amendola. I am leaning Thomas, Edelman, Hilton (and that seems F’ing gross).

2RB league. I have McCoy and L. Bell penciled in with Rainey and D. Brown on the bench. I honestly think Rainey could break out again this week (and Yahoo!s prediction algorithm seems to agree) and I am not too threatened by McCoy’s lousy matchup. Obviously, Bell’s concussion status matters here, but I am really tempted to jam Rainey in there for one of them. Should I?

Worst of all, I think I am going with McCown over Matt Ryan and RG3. Which means I’m going to have to wait until Monday to see if I make it to round two of the playoffs…..

    Thanks for being you!

        @Sky:

Yes, I hear you loud and clear. My crystal ball has Washington down early to the Chefs and then Morris disappearing like he did many of the previous weeks as the ‘Skins throw the ball to WR and Helu.

I may sweat it out waiting for Ball to get his numbers later in the game, but again that’s what my crystal ball shows.

We’ll see. I’m going up against a very solid team and feel I really need the upside to pull this off. I’m a very firm advocate of never sitting your studs — I just don’t have Morris labelled as a stud anymore.

I’m going to trust you and start Fitzpatrick over Bob Griffin this week, but I’m seriously questioning your ranking of Bobby Rainey. I know old man S-Jax just ran wild over Buffalo, but is Rainey really a decent RB? I haven’t gotten to watch him play, and if I start him I’ll need to sit either S-Jax or Zac Stacy. Your rankings say sit Jackson, but I need more convincing about this.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Pete: What makes you feel good about starting SJax over him? ATL has been terrible-looking all year and he’s barely played due to injury. In fact, I think him and Rainey might have almost the same amount of starts and Rainey isn’t giving away carries. TB is a run-first team and at home. Good reason to start him in my book.

      • Pete says:
        (link)

@Sky: Perfect. (I didn’t need much convincing, clearly). My brain doesn’t seem to want to let S-Jax go, since he’s found his way onto my team the past 3 years or so. I can’t quit him even though he keeps ruining me.

FYI for everyone else – I’m officially benching Steven Jackson, which means he’s going to score at least 2 TD this weekend. Trust me. It’s science.

  25. Steve says:

    Sky,

Made the playoffs as the 4 seed and I’m just looking for some reasoning to your rankings and some advice. (0.5ppr league 1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, TE, and Flex)

QBs: Romo and Kaepernick (Starting Romo)
WRs: Garcon, K Allen, R White, J Boykin, and R Randle
RBs: Lacy, Morris, Stacy, Rice, D Brown
    TEs: M Bennett, L Green

    Questions:

    1. At RB, I’m starting Lacy, but at RB2 and Flex who has the highest floor out of Morris, Stacy, Rice, and D Brown. According to your rankings that means Morris and Rice, but we’ve been burned by Rice often this season and I’m leaning towards Stacy. What’s your take? Is it the matchups?

    2. Would you consider Ladarius Green over Martellus Bennett or am I crazy?

    Thanks for your help!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Steve: You also had a great game from Rice when he faced a bad rushing defense. He’s doing that again this week. That’s why he’s ranked highest. If you’re aiming for floor, you go with Morris but you’re also aiming to not win with that angle.

Starting the TE2 for his team over the TE1 for his own…not crazy because of the talent but you’re gambling. Depends on Eddie Royal’s health if that’s wise. I still like Bennetts matchup overall.

  26. This is a re-question from yesterday… and to keep it simple, I don’t need McGahee, so it boils down to which D do I play for the next two weeks? None of my potential playoff opponents would need McGahee, either, so I’d rather hold the 3rd D just to keep it from the opponent.

    KC, BUF, NE

    Week 15: KC @ Oakland
    Week 15: BUF @ Jax
    Week 15: NE @ Miami

    Week 16: KC vs Indy
    Week 16: BUF vs Miami
    Week 16: NE @ Baltimore

The only potential free-agent DEF with a matchup worth-a-damn is
Week 16: CLEVELAND @ NY Jets

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@James R: NE on both counts for now.

    • Some areas of note:

      – after starting hot, KC has only 2 sacks in the past 6 weeks. (maybe I should let them go in order to WEAKEN a potential opponent?)

      – my league has a non-standard scoring system for DEF which awards almost nothing for points-against

      - 1 point per sack, 1 point per INT, 6 points for S/T kick-return

      - Buffalo has consistently gotten sacks, all year.

      • A DEF score of over 10 is rare in my league. Defenses often score between 1 and 6 from the sacks/ints.

Seem fair to go with the sack-heavy Bills for floor considering this format?

        • @James R: Might any of those 6 opponents have protection issues of note, or weak special teams coverage that you are aware of?

          Clearly, I’m overthinking this.

          • Cram It says:

In a QB2 league out of Case, Dalton, EJ, and Carson you’d go Case and Dalton? I was actually going to go Carson and EJ after last weeks performance from Dalton but I suppose that Case’s matchup is too good to pass on. Still not sure I’m ready to trust Dalton again though…

    • Sky

        (link)

@Sky: Yeah I mean, I think Dalton has the highest upside, memories of that string of 30 point games he was putting together. Not feeling Carson this week though? Seems to be in a bit of a groove

He is, just think AZ will and can run all over them. Not expecting a huge yardage day. Think he’s more game manager than gunslinger this week against a fast STL front. If he does go off, it’ll be because he has 3 short yardage TDs but I have a hard time thinking he throws for much. Also Rams don’t give up much to opposing QBs.

  36. Cram It says:
    (link)

    Because I can’t continue the defense thread…
STL had 9 fantasy points that first week against AZ. That’s solid! STL and SF have the same fantasy points on the season. SF’s playing a guy who has all of 6 picks on the year. I don’t see how STL doesn’t AT LEAST get a few sacks and a pick. I can’t say SF will do the same with confidence.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

SF got off to an extremely slow start, though. Started playing better week 4. STL will always be good for sacks but how much more you get out of them is questionable in my book and SEA’s O-line can be beaten for QB sacks/RW3 not getting the ball out of there quicker. If STL gives up 34 points but gets a pick-6, I still don’t mind my call. They’re a bigger gamble than the fantasy points suggest. So far, STL has flat out killed two horrid teams this year – Indy is the worst playoff team I can remember in forever and HOU is…well HOU – and have been solid but unspectacular outside of those. Just think it’s not as easy for them on the road unless the opponent is terrible, which is the HOU/Indy games. AZ isn’t a bad team at all and again, at home. You’re making me excited for Monday, Cram! That’s unhealthy.

      • Cram It says:
        (link)

@Sky: I see all of your points. I am aware that what I am expecting out of STL this weekend is solid. Maybe SF holds SEA to 6-10 points. But I don’t see much in the way of sacks/TO’s. And I guess my “ranking” of them has more to do with not seeing how SF will get many points. Ya know, if you had SF ranked 10th, still ahead of STL, I don’t think I would’ve made a fuss!

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Come at me bro! Wait, this is a friendly banter…sorry, lost it for a second. I hear ya. For me, I have narrative driving that SF game, not just the underlying stats. Like you said, could be very few sacks/TOs based on current stats to date but I have this voice telling me SF is gonna play hungrier than Seattle is and it’ll show in the stat column at the end of the day.

          • Cram It says:
            (link)

    • Sky

Your WR question covered above. I’d roll with Mendy in flex.

      • Bonghuetz says:
        (link)

@Sky: Cool…what’s the thinking behind having Dez at 9 in non-PPR and 10 in a PPR? Is this just a product of Chicago being so easy to run on that you don’t see much of a passing game from the Boys?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Dez has been good not great this year for whatever reason. Not sure if the disc has been an issue or not but even with good matchups he’s rarely having huge games. Maybe this will be a bust out week but given how Dallas controlled the clock and played ground/pound last week, I could see that happening again.

  38. Slim

    Slim says:
    (link)

I’m pretty sure my final spot is down to Montee Ball or Cecil Shorts. Non-PPR, small bonuses for either receiving or rushing over 100 yards.

I’m also going with Keenan, Douglas, Torrey, Lacy, Andre Brown, and Rashad Jennings it looks like. I drafted one of those… I went Trent, Wilson 1-2. I’ve made a few good pickups to somehow make it into the playoffs.

    • Sky

      Sky says:

Nice come back from a rough start to the draft.

@Sky: Thanks. It’s going to be tough. I’m vs a really good team.

Jimmy Graham in the 3rd and Stafford 5th round in a 2 QB league were my best picks. My only trade was losing Matt Ryan and Antonio Brown and gaining Locker and Lacy. It almost worked out well considering my other RBs. Rolling with Flacco as my #2 now. meh.

Keep on razzing homie.

One quick question: I have the Ravens vs. MIN but was wondering if There’s much if a difference between them and OAK @ NYJ. Is it worth a waiver to switch me out this week? Thanks again!

Ha, thanks for the razz love my man! I didn’t know I was the highest on RW3 this week. Thanks for looping me in.

I think Ravens are safer and I wouldn’t push for you to move off of them. OAK just has such a sweet matchup, they were hard to not move up high. Still have plenty of downside to them since they are, of course, the Raiders.

  45. Deck says:
    (link)

I am going to ask again this week same question as last week. You told me Bowe last week and I went Spiller anyway so the gamble worked but I still value your opinion so:

At flex in the playoffs this week…S Jax (GB) Spiller (TB) Bowe (WSH) or Cameron (NE)

Or since they’re all so close CJ2K could be benched and I could start two. I know the rankings are above but when two RBs are right next to each other I feel they could flip flop easily.

I think Cameron has worked his way out of the discussion.

    Thanks again!

SJax, agree that Cameron is a tough start this week. Wish I could trust him, its a good matchup.

I see you have Tate ranked over MJD this week, i have both itching to be in my flex. JAX offense is run heavy focus, while HOU is more balanced. • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      I think a 100 yard, 3 TD game got my attention :)

Jacksonville can be run on. I’m thinking he is an RB1 this week. MJD has been an iffy RB2 dependent on a TD to have a good week.

PS, whichever you choose, make sure and put them in a real RB spot. You never know when injury might hit and you need to use your flex on Sunday.

  48. Prez says:
    (link)

Stacy or gordon in my flex, non ppr. This league i have lynch and mccoy as my backs. Thinking gordon, but NE is prolly going to aim at stopping him.. having a guy like stacy should i make the switch.

    • Sky

Gotta start Gordon at this point. If CLE isn’t behind by 2 TDs by the end of the 1st quarter, something went amazingly wrong. Throwing all day, every day. Gordon will get his. Plus Stacy’s upside is very limited by that matchup in AZ this week.

    • Sky

As a Broncos fan, you know Fitz is gonna have to throw all day to keep his team in the game. I can’t see how he doesn’t have a better shot at a huge day. Flacco could have a grind down win on his hands with the Vikings in town.

  50. Apiatt34 says:
    (link)

Griffin or Wilson? (6 for a pass TD, -5 for Int, 1 point per 10 yards)

    Kansas City or Baltimore?

If I went with Griffin, I’d probably go with Baltimore to avoid a QB vs DEF situation. I’m just a little leery about the possibility of Griffin’s inconsistency. Normally I’d just go with Wilson and wouldn’t think twice, but obviously his matchup isn’t ideal either. I think Griffin has a better shot of putting up yardage (KC hasn’t been the behemoth they were at the beginning of the season, especially over the last 3 or 4 weeks), which would provide more upside then Wilson given the scoring system, but Wilson’s floor is probably higher.

    Your thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

I presumed having a 5th RB when you only play 2 in one league trumped the true point about starters being more useful than 5th WR when you only have to (or can in one of these leagues) play 3. If I have
    charles/bush/j.bell/vereen
    floyd/nelson/d-jax/crabtree/dola
bennett as backup TE to VD
I know i should try to reaquire miller by dropping dola, but if I can’t am i better off in weeks 15 and 16 with crabtree (as 4th WR in case of injury), dola (same) or knile davis as RB5, which would lock up entire DET and KC backfield while also having vereen in a 2 RB, no flex league, but only leaving me with 1 WR backup.

      Crabtree

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@Sky: sorry, i worded that very badly, with still having crabs, i’ll be able to either get miller back (which i know is best), or
1.keep dola (WR 5 behind crabs)
        2. drop for knile davis

        • goodfold2 says:
          (link)

@goodfold2: damn, the drop would be dola for davis, but only if I can’t drop dola for miller.

If you need a high floor TE, Miller. If not, what we talked about in terms of upside.

          drop ‘dola

          • goodfold2 says:
            (link)

            @Sky: this is lamar miller.

            • goodfold2 says:
              (link)

@goodfold2: not heath miller. so If I don’t get lamar miller back (because somebody waivered him) by dropping dola should I either
              1. keep dola as 5th WR or
              2. grab knile davis

Flex spot, .5 ppr: Zac Stacy, Julius Thomas or Donald Brown? Thanks and keep up the good work.

    • Sky

      Sky says:

Tough. I’ll say Stacy but I’m not happy about it. Could gamble on JT but the matchups are in your favor anywhere there.

      • TobiasFunkeAnalRapist says:
        (link)

@Sky: Sorry I meant pick 2 of three, Cordarelle Patterson and Andre Holmes are also in the mix (16 team .5 ppr). I win this and I’m in the playoffs, thanks.

        • TobiasFunkeAnalRapist says:
          (link)

@TobiasFunkeAnalRapist: So basically it’s JT, Donald Brown or Cordarelle for my last flex spot, leaning towards Donald and hoping the Colts get their shit together this week…

@TobiasFunkeAnalRapist:Where’ Stacy go in all of this? Or Holmes? I’m confused, you said one, now two spots open, said Holmes was available (who is ranked above Cordarrelle in the rankings above) but now he’s not an option?

            • TobiasFunkeAnalRapist says:
              (link)

@Sky: Sorry, I figured Stacy was already in, Holmes is also available, was doing that post earlier while in a rush for work.

No worries. Holmes has the best matchup out of them all and I like him but in remembering JT is a part of the Convo, I’d lean his way

Thanks Sky! Useful as always, thoughts on Ivory v James Jones for flex (PPR)

    • Sky

      Sky says:

No prob; not really high on either but I think James Jones has a chance to perform in a PPR setting.

Who should I start in my flex, standard league.. Reed, Jacoby Jones, or Woodheas

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Reed if he’s healthy, Jacoby if he’s not. Woodhead’s usage has been down of late. Hard to trust.

if healthy, Jordan reed, ty hilton or burleson?

Stafford is my QB (ppr league)

    • Sky

      Sky says:

Reed/Hilton; even in good passing matchups it looks like Burleson can be forgotten. Can’t say the same about the other two.

  59. Just curious what is the thinking behind dropping Demaryius Thomas down so far?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

TEN’s defense. The stats of their secondary. Think there are other guys with higher upside for the week due to matchup.

I see you gave big ups to mccown compared to Carson Palmer. Im stuck in between those two this week and wondered if the cold weather in Chicago would make a palmer a better/safer play? Or do you think with mccowns offense and recent success make him the shoo in??

    • marcus allen was good al says:

@marcus allen was good al: basically are u worried about cold weather n Chicago on Monday lol

@marcus allen was good al: Dah, sorry about that!.

I’d be more worried about a wonky elbow and a good pass rush than cold weather. Weather usually only affects the game if its very windy. Gotta go McCown there.

Struggling with the fear of starting Brees after last week…. I feel like he is going to come back. Would you start him or McCown? I’m in 1st, trying to hang on to bye. Thanks!

  62. Don Majkowski says:
    (link)

So Im on a bye….trying to set up my team for week 15 & 16.

In my QB2 slot, I currently have McCown(do not own Cutler)…Bears are @CLE & @PHI in week 15 & 16…do you think Cutler is back next week?

So the main question is should I stick with McCown and hope Cutler isnt back, or just grab Flacco off the wire (Flacco has @DET & NE home for 15 & 16)?

Say Cutler doesnt come back at all, do you like McCown or Flacco for week 15 & 16 considering Schedules?

PPR league: I need to choose 2 wrs, 1 rb, 1 te and 1 flex between Vincent Jackson, Larry Fitzgerald, Kendall Wright, Chris Johnson, Shane Vereen, Lamar Miller, Greg Olsen and Ladarius Green. And also have to choose between Mason Crosby, Matt Bryant, Robbie Gould and Phil Dawson at K. Thanks for the advise, Great site!

OK, I have Reed, Hilton, Crabtree and Bowe for my flex play. I Have RG at Q and am concerned about the weather conditions in the CIN and WASH game. Should I take a chance to double up on points with Reed and RG3 or take the best weather matchup with Crabtree which is coincidentally against my D, or roll out Bowe vs 90% chance of snow or Hilton @CIN?

    Thanks for your help.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Until I see Crabtree out on the field more, it’s hard to endorse him especially going against a tough SEA secondary. I personally would roll the dice on Reed out of that crew. Feel he has the highest upside.

  69. DDT says:

Your not diggin’ BUF defense @ TB?

Should I throw caution to the wind and roll with CAR @ New Orleans?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Bills have a higher floor – sacks – but TB has played well of late against bad/mediocre teams. They’re at home and play smart/conservative. Don’t think the Bills have as good of a chance at having large numbers as Carolina but they do have the higher floor.

  70. DDT says:

    One more: pick my FLEX:

R.Jennings @ NYJ, M. Floyd vs. STL or Garçon vs. KC?

    • DDT says:

@DDT: check that: I’m starting Garçon, so either Floyd or R. Jennings as my flex. What say you?

      • Sky

Jennings inactive so you’re going Floyd.
