Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

True facts: I don’t believe there’s much variance this week to talk about.  It’s like I ate some turkey earlier than you and passed out.  Snore-o-rama up in this bish, right?  It’s not very often I’m humbled into yammering about having a player like Victor Cruz up 8 in standard rankings over where everyone else has him.  Reason?  He’s usually backed up poor performances with pretty big games afterwards.  Don’t believe me?  Well you see, you’re on the internet reading this so you could probably just google it…hint, hint.  It’s been a rocky year for the Salsa Dance man but I fully expect him to shine this coming Sunday.  Overall, it was a hard week to rank.  There are more Q’s in these than a Dairy Queen managers convention.  Don’t ask.  I have zero clue if that’s such a thing.  Over in the world of QBs, Josh McCown drops by your top 5.  He tells me to tell you hi.  I guess I believe in EJ Manuel more than you while I’m at it.  Nah, really just disbelieve the Falcons and their complete and utterly destructive 2013 season to date, especially on defense.  At RB, Roughshod gets a top 10 nomination again and makes me wonder what he has to do to get respect at this point.  Oh and Arizona is gonna give up some points to one of the Eagles TEs this week.  Maybe both.  But probably one…and I don’t know which one but I’m banking on Ertz if I’m making a choice to take a chance here.  Defenses, it seems people are slowly becoming aware that Tampa Bay has finally shown back up.  Think that Panthers vs Bucs game is gonna be a lot closer and defensively contested the whole way than people think.  And finally, some quick gambling bits: Dennis Johnson could finally do what many have tried to in Texas do before and that’s sucede from the union.  Marquise Goodwin and Justin Hunter are fringe WR3 players of note.  Finally, I expect Colin Kaepernick to come back to Earth this Sunday.  Kickers, as always, were ranked with love and care by some children we paid less than minimum wage to in a small, poorly ventilated room in a far off land.  Don’t let their efforts be forgotten.  And with that, let’s get this show on the road.  Here’s week 13 rankings for 2013 Fantasy Football…

Been waiting up all night for these :). It is now 3:40 a.m. here in P.A.

So you would say Stacy over Morris if he plays? Worried he would get knocked out of the game.. feel its very risky.

Also, would you say H. Douglas over Boykin ROS? Y! Saying H. Douglas is a “wr1″ now and Boykin 2/3. Not that I ever trust Y! Writers tho.

Thanks for dealing with my non-sense weekly!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: Ha, well then good morning! Stacy I actually moved down to 15 at the last second but apparently didn’t hit the publish rankings button. Stacy is either playing or he’s not. For right now I’m assuming he is.

Harry D is a WR2 in my book, not a 1 but he’s above Boykin because Boykin is only in on 3 WR sets and gets most of his points in 4th quarter comeback mode of late (not that he should. He SHOULD be out there every play).

No problem with the nonsense. Thanks for the same from me!

  2. Zandy says:
    (link)

Thanks sky as always. Just wanted to get some color on what’s driving the TB ranking. Is it score or turnover based?

    • Zandy says:
      (link)

@Zandy: also is it revis dependent? Since he’s day to day…

      • Sky

        Sky says:
        (link)

@Zandy: They’re the top ranked defense over the last 4 weeks according to yahoo and have actually played well all season. It was a stalled offense that put them in danger most of the time. Carolina doesn’t have a very fierce WR set so it’s not Revis dependent. They’re great against the run and decent against the pass. That should be good enough to stay in on what I think will be a low scoring game.

      • Sky

        Sky says:
        (link)

@Zandy: Oh and of course you’re welcome!

        • Zandy says:
          (link)

@Sky: great makes sense to me. Question tho – I have one more roster move left this week. Do I drop CLE for TB now? Wait to see if any injuries occur today and make the move tonight? (Like a lacy injury would get me to run and snag Starks while avoiding waivers for example) how would you handle the situation?

          • Sky

            Sky says:
            (link)

You hold. No reason to spend your last weekly roster move on a Thursday.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY..THANKS 4 ALL THE HELP THIS YEAR

      @Tom: Thanks Tom, you too!

  4. willy says:
    (link)

    Morning Sky,

Percy Harvin or Vereen in flex this week?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@willy: Harvin still has to prove it. Vereen.

  5. Mitchell says:
    (link)

Matt Ryan, Ryan Fitzpatrick, or Matt Flynn? Matty Ice has been terrible of late. Don’t know what to expect from Flynn or Fitz but the dome matchups seem better than Matt Ryan in snowy Buffalo. Have that feeling that who ever I start, the other 2 would have been better options.

    • Ecstatic Giraffe says:
      (link)

@Mitchell: Buffalo is playing their “home” game in Toronto. They will be playing at the rogers centre, which is a dome with a retractable roof.

      • Mitchell says:
        (link)

@Ecstatic Giraffe: Well no shit. Had not heard that. Thanks

        • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
          (link)

@Mitchell: like the cheap shit Rams owner Bills owner gives away 3/8 of home games a year to TOR. In STL’s case it’s only 1 but it’s in england, so no real proximate benefits like TOR is to BUF. only helps owners money interest at expense of fanbase and team itself in STL.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Mitchell: I have you covered with the rankings above.

  6. The Thumb says:
    (link)

Hey Sky, hate to be a pain, but I was curious as to why you ranked Russell Wilson so high? I’m debating whether to start him or Foles and figured they would be much closer because they both have much less than ideal matchups…

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@The Thumb: NFC west has made a few AFC and other NFC teams look a tad silly so far this year. I like Foles but that ARI secondary is a little scary. Plus, though NO has been great defensively, game is in Seattle and Russell lights out lately. Think that trend continues this week.

Oh and you’re never a pain! I have nothing wrong with people asking me why. Just don’t come on here and say ‘WTF is wrong with you? RW3 at 3? LULZ!’. That’s what they call ‘a conversation ender’. Happy Turkey day!

      • The Thumb says:
        (link)

@Sky: Thanks man! Happy Turkey Day to you too!

  7. Gbbb says:
    (link)

Thoughts on Ridley this week? For my flex trying to decide between Ridley, Hopkins, kenbrel Tompkins, and Brian leonard. I know terrible options. Btw it’s a 1 pt ppr

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Gbbb: Houston could fall behind early and start slinging it. I’d give Hopkins a go. I don’t trust the NE RB situation unless I own Vereen.

  8. Ecstatic Giraffe says:
    (link)

Hey Sky, a lot of people are saying to pick up Buffalo for their “home” game against Atlanta but no one is talking about the fact that they are playing at the Rogers Centre (aka The Skydome). Does the dome matchup change the ranking at all?
PS Happy Thanksgiving my American friends

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Ecstatic Giraffe: Ah, where are you from EG? I’m not going to assume because of the Giraffe…

That’s a fair question. Still think there are more Buffalo supporters there than there are Falcons fans. It’s about the energy of the crowd as a part of it but overall, the Falcons offense has struggled. I think the Bills can take advantage.

      • Ecstatic Giraffe says:
        (link)

@Sky: I am from Toronto. Sadly no Happy Giraffes anywhere. U would agree that there are likely to be more buffalo fans, there are expected to be 40000 people there but the bills are only 1-4 in Toronto games. Most people who go don’t even really cheer for the bills they just want to go to an NFL game. Although, bon jovi has recently said he wants to move the bills here so maybe more people will show support.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Ah you know your Canadian Bills well then. Atlanta is still dead team walking right now. I’m expecting some TOs, sacks and I’m hoping for a score in there. Just don’t think ATL is a fearsome opponent even with the venue change

  9. Allan says:
    (link)

    Sky,
Happy Thanksgiving. Need some help with flex. Steve Smith, Dennis Johnson, Marquise Goodwin, or Miles Austin? Thanks.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @Allan: I’d gamble with Marquise

  10. Rocky says:
    (link)

    Happy Thanksgiving, Sky!

Got a few questions for you as we approach the last week of the regular season in my 10 team .5 PPR QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, W/R, TE league.

    My roster:

    QB: Cam, Roethlisberger
RB: Knowshon, Murray, Vereen, Spiller, SJax, B, Cunningham
    WR: Marshall, VJax, Garcon, Bowe
    TE: Reed, Ladarius Green

Let’s assume Knowshon sits this week. At that point, I’m going Murray and Vereen at RB. At WR, according to your rankings, I would be going Marshall (obviously) and VJax. Flex is vexing me though. I want so bad to start Spiller coming of the bye against that putrid Falcon D, but my roster might not be able to compensate for the downside. If you could, rank my top 3/4 at flex.

And also, if Stacy sits, does Cunningham vault into the flex lead?

And lastly, what are your thoughts on Ladarius Green? If Gates misses time for some reason, is he startable over Reed, matchup depending (ie, next week with Reed vs KC and Green facing NYG), going forward?

Thanks so much in advance and good luck this week!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @Rocky: Back at you Rocky.

If Knowshon is a no-go, I’d roll with Garcon. Behind him I’d go with how I rank the remainder of the RBs you have up above but Garcon is too solid to sit in my book. I wouldn’t start any of your remaining RBs above him.

Green: Definitely. I love that kid. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of him down the stretch out of the Chargers (and we really should). But like you said, would depend on matchups.

  11. Pete says:
    (link)

Percy Harvin, Steve Johnson, Steven Jackson, Jordan Reed. I can start any two of them. WR and TE scoring in my league is set to be fairly even with RB. Can you please help me rank them?

Second, would Zac Stacy slot in ahead of all of them if he plays?

Thanks, and happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @Pete: Reed/Stacy/SJ/SJax/Harvin

      • Pete says:

@Sky: Thanks, Sky. You’re my hero today.

        • Sky

@Pete: That doesn’t mean I have to rescue you from a burning building does it? I have asthma

  12. Robert says:
    (link)

Read you religiously, and for me, FF is as close to religion as I’ll get. At 9-3, already guaranteed the top seed and a bye in 14 thanks to you and your calls against the grain.

What are your thoughts on the Bills D ROS? I’m playing them against the Falcons, but wondering about their Florida tear after that, when they go to Tampa in 14, Jax in 15 and host Miami in Buffalo on December 22 in 16.

That looks pretty damn good to me, but would you worry about picking up someone else for any of those games?

Thanks again, and have a good turkey day!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Robert: Wow, thanks Rob. Razzball as a religion…gonna have to see if we can get the .gov to buy in on that.

Funny you should ask that. Covered them and other plays quite extensively yesterday:

      http://football.razzball.com/thinking-forward-getting-defensive-edition

Though I did somehow miss it was in TB week 14. I’d prefer the Buccs there now.

Enjoy your Turkey day as well!

  13. Robert says:
    (link)

Sky, sorry to bug on Turkey day. Your rankings really have me worried. Really expecting it to be that bad for Kaepernick? I would have to drop a back up WR in order to grab Fitzpatrick or drop Kaepernick. Oh, and I have A. Rodgers on my bench. Thanks for any advice on a holliday.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Robert: I think Kaep’s Monday night ‘turnaround’ was a mirage and STL’s defense is still decent. If they sell out on the run like the ‘skins did, they have a better secondary to make up for it. That said, not knowing who your backup receivers are, it’s kinda hard to say which way you should go. Give me some insight and I’ll let you know how I see it.

      • Robert says:
        (link)

@Sky: my WRs are A. Johnson, H. Douglas, S. Johnson, Wallace, Shorts.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I’d drop Wallace, personally. A lot of WR3s, for playoffs I wouldn’t sit on WR depth

          • Robert says:
            (link)

            @Sky: and pick up Fitz?

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

              Yup

              • Robert says:
                (link)

                @Sky: thanks for the advice

                  No prob and good luck!

  14. Jeff says:
    (link)

    nate burleson or jordan reed?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Jeff: Burleson because we don’t know about Reed’s health. If this is a flex spot, you should put Burleson in a WR slot and move one of your other WRs to your flex. You never know when an injury might hit.

      • Jeff says:
        (link)

        @Sky:
Thanks! enjoy your turkey and football!

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

          De Nada and you too!

  15. Deck says:
    (link)

SJax, Spiller, Cameron or Bowe in my flex?

    Happy Thanksgiving

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Deck: You too Deck! Tough one. I’d gamble on Bowe having another 50 or 60 and a TD against the Broncos.

  16. Pete says:
    (link)

I see the rankings. I’m trying to convince my co-manager that McCown is a better play than Flynn. but he’s pretty steadfast. Any merit to his argument? Maybe higher ceiling for Flynn?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Pete: McCown has been great as a starter. We’ve only seen about 2 quarters of Flynn against one of if not THE worst secondaries the NFL has to offer in the Vikings. McCown gets to face the same putrid secondary this week. I get that Flynn could have good numbers but I think the matchup and the player himself is safer in McCown. I don’t see much downside at all for him this week.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Please tell me you talked your co-manager out of Flynn…

  17. brick says:
    (link)

I assume you’d flex fleener over B Bolden or cunningham?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @brick: Definitely.

  18. Sky why Jordy so high? I don’t want to sit Pierre, but after last week, I don’t want to go against your word, and I sure as shit don’t wanna sit Gordon or Graham.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Entire Detroit secondary is banged up right now. Could very well be a shootout today. I like all 3 GB receivers. That said, you have some good problems to have, my friend.

  19. You wouldn’t start Pierre in Graham’s slot, would ya?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Tough, that’s close but no I wouldn’t, especially after Seattle lost pretty much every starter in their secondary for one reason or another.

      • @Sky: Ok, thanks, and I went with your word, last second decision, and sat Pierre for Nelson.

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Word and good luck this week!

  20. Jay says:
    (link)

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Flex position. Bowe, Hilton or Reed? We get KR yards.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

You too! Reed. Hilton is over Bowe in above rankings.

      • Jay says:
        (link)

@Sky: So Reed over both Bowe and Hilton this week?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Yes. Was giving you the breakdown in case he isn’t a go.

          • Jay says:
            (link)

@Sky: So RG, AJ, Gordon, Brown, Lacy, Gronk, Reed, Folk and SEA! How you think i’ll fare?

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

Think you’ll do fine. Good luck!

  21. nick says:
    (link)

Who’s a better flex this week between cj2k, torrey smith or j. Reed. I have cj penciled in but thithink smith or reed could be a better play. Thanks for all your help!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      I’d go Smith there.

  22. Jay says:
    (link)

    Also SEA or DAL?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Have you covered in the rankings above.

      • Jay says:
        (link)

@Sky: Yep, but after reviewing composite ranking from multiple sites, most has DAL as the better play, but considering this is my go to site….

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

But we’re not a composite site, why would I say to do the opposite of my own rankings? haha.

          • Jay says:
            (link)

            @Sky: Stupid me!

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

Ha, nah. If you’re asking why, Seattle at home is tough even with a shaken up secondary. Plus the Saints don’t perform well away from home in terms of scoring points as the Jets and Falcons games proved.

  23. Randy says:
    (link)

I’m starting Forte and Josh Gordon, but need 1 RB, 1 WR, and a flex out of the following in a standard league: Spiller, Moreno (if plays), Vereen, Bilal Powell (if Ivory sits), Garcon, Keenan Allen, and Michael Floyd. Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

We can skip the RB and WR question because that’s covered above. for flex, Allen

      • Randy says:
        (link)

@Sky: Thanks! I am personally more optimistic about Spiller…in a dome, closer to 100%, Atlanta run defense… Is the time share w/ F-Jax and/or his recent injury the reasons for his ranking in the 30s? Thanks again!

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

CJ took time off earlier in the year and it wasn’t all that effective. He’s been up and down all year. He’s got tons of upside but you know what he’s done this year. I wouldn’t be counting on him, personally

  24. Chicken Dinner says:
    (link)

Does Ball take the ten spot of Moreno if he’s out?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Nah, I don’t think it’s that cut and dry in terms of usage. Probably flex territory.

      • Chicken Dinner says:
        (link)

@Sky: Thank you. Happy Thankgiving my man. Best wishes.

        • Sky

          Sky says:

Thanks Mr. Dinner. Hope you have Turkey instead of Chicken today!

  25. malamoney

    malamoney says:
    (link)

    Pick two in a PPR.

Knowshon, Rice, Kendall Wright, TY and Keenan Allen.

Only including Knowshon because of his injury. Otherwise he’s a no brainier. And Rice plays tonight. Got Cunningham too.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Moreno/Wright

      • malamoney

        malamoney says:
        (link)

@Sky: Sorry meant to say pick 3

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I think we both know you’re not starting Rice so it’s down to the remaining WRs. Second highest ranking is Keenan.

          • malamoney

            malamoney says:
            (link)

@Sky: So true, but really wish Rice was the no brainier I drafted.

              Trust me I know.

  26. Jeremy says:
    (link)

So you would play Steve Johnson over Boldin? Even after two consecutive good weeks?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Still a low output passing game in SF. You’re betting on Kaep to perform well against the Rams. I personally wouldn’t.

  27. Zar says:
    (link)

So RG3 is super low ranked. I’m about ready to drop him for McCown. I could also drop Lamar Miller or Leveon Bell for him. I have Aaron Rodgers back after this week….so this is a move to hold me over until then. Drop RG3, miller or bell?

    • Zar says:

Don’t count your chickens before they’ve hatched, RE: Rodgers. Who are your other RBs?

      • Zar says:
        (link)

@Sky: Andrew Brown, Rashad Jennings, Zac Stacy, Miller, and Bell. I have Gronk and OJ Thomas, but I don’t want to drop OJ for someone to use against me >>

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Don’t see when if ever you’re starting Miller. He’s my chuck away there

          • Zar says:
            (link)

@Sky: Cool, thanks sky :D I now I have 3 QBs, 2 TEs on my roster XD At least dropping people will be easier next week! Also, added bonus of pairing McCown with Brandon Marshall makes me happy :D

What a great thanksgiving! First i ate 2 dinners, then i went to walmart and bought a 60″ tv. Next i went to the mall grabbed 2 new watches, i finally get home to see how my kicker did and tucker scored 21.8 pts. I’m losing by less than 7 pts and my opponent had dez bryant and rashad jennings. Now if only i can pull off the miracle of winning and having one of 2 teams lose my week will be complete.

1.where does woodhead go up to in non-PPR if mathews doesn’t play?
    2. why is mathews that low (maybe you factored playing hurt into it)?
3.MJD or wright at flex if stacy doesn’t play.
4 if stacy does play woodhead or wright at flex.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Woodhead is a low end RB2 for the week as a whole. He’s not gonna make up much of any ground work if Mathews can’t go. I ranked Mathews that low because its a hamstring issue and I don’t trust him and his health history to gut the whole game out.

I like Wright alot this week. He’s the answer on both.

  37. Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
    (link)

bennett over davis this week, i’m guessing that’s only due to STL being pretty good against TE’s, and MIN being below average.

    • Sky

      Sky says:

Minnesota is poor against the pass in general and Bennett has been getting a lot of looks. McCown has a good day coming.

.5 PPR in the flex. I need one of the following: Lamar Miller, Brian Hartline, Chris Ogbonnaya, or Donald Brown? I’m leaning toward Hartline

    • Sky

      Sky says:

      I’d go Brown there

  39. TobiasFunkeAnalRapist says:
    (link)

Nice read, having some trouble setting my lineup in my 16 team league .5 ppr. Start one RB, one WR and 3 flex spots. Was thinking Fitz, Moreno, Zac Stacy, Julius Thomas (assuming everyone plays) and either Bobby Rainey or Cordarelle Patterson. We also get .1 points for each return yard which makes Patterson intriguing, or do you think I’m over thinking it and should just go with the starting rb (Rainey but it’s against Carolina.). Thanks and happy holidays.

    • TobiasFunkeAnalRapist says:
      (link)

@TobiasFunkeAnalRapist: I also have Donald Brown and Cecil Shorts that I could start as well.

Wait Brown? I’d roll with him

    • Sky

      Sky says:

I’d go upside with Cordarrelle this week. Until they use Rainey in passing plays, he’s hard to trust against strong defensive fronts

      • TobiasFunkeAnalRapist says:
        (link)

@Sky: So you think Moreno over Rainey and Cordarelle over Donald Brown?

Need a kicker; who do you recommend : Nick Novak, mike nugent, Ryan succop or dan carpenter.

Also, could you tell me how you like my starting lineup, what changes you’d make & how it is vs my opponent.

    My team:

QB- romo (played thurs & gave me 17 pts)

    RB1- Forte
RB2- Reggie bush(played yesterday gave me 25 pts)

    WR1- Calvin Johnson(played yesterday & gave me 18 pts)
    WR2- Josh Gordon

    TE- Vernon Davis

    Flex- CJ Spiller

    Defense- Patriots

Defensive player- need to add one looking at Vontaze Burfict, Earl Thomas, Robert Quinn, and Antrel Rolle

Kicker- also need a kicker, see above question at top so I’m not repeating.

Bench- Larry Fitzgerald , Vincent Jackson, vereen, roddy white,

    —-
    This is the opponent’s lineup:

    QB- RG3

    RB1- Marshawn Lynch
RB2- Eddie Lacy (played yesterday & only gave him 4 pts)

    WR1- AJ Green
    WR2- Demaryius Thomas

    TE- Antonio gates

    Flex- Pierre garçon

    Defense- eagles

    Defensive player- Kiko Alonso

Kicker- Crosby (yesterday & got him 6 pts)

Bench incase a last sec swap: Keenan Allen, (green the other charger TE)’, Ben Tate, d’angelo Williams, Danny amendola , and Percy harvin

    — would you keep / drop roddy white , or wait to see how he does this week vs buff?
If I were to drop him here’s who I’m looking into adding: Dennis Johnson, Powell, Colston, Chris Givens, cordarrelle Patterson, Montee ball, Robert Turbin or Christine Michael.

Thanks love the posts, keep it up!

@Timmy tooth: Thanks Timmy and sorry for the delayed response. Most of your question is covered in the rankings above. Fitz over Spiller would make a lot of sense to me. Not sure what to say about your opponent’s roster, it doesn’t affect you in terms of who you should start. Roddy is is droppable. Either Dennis Johnson or Patterson. With your team, DJ would make sense.

It could be me but every time Victor Cruz plays the Redskins he seems to make big plays. Not that I’m trying to convince anyone to make a close decision but it does seem that way to me. Personally I like my flex position normally as a running back just because I think the its a more secure pick. I’ve seen a lot of people deciding if Keenan Allen is a starter and I would say no. Philip Rivers is the most overrated QB in the league and Allen really only has showed up for 3 games and has the same amount of touchdowns on the year…nothing special.
