Week 3 is upon us my fellow fantasy football crazies.  Week 2 was a malicious, bitter, hurtful scorned ex-lover to many fantasy teams.  I’m still recovering from the JC Superstar season-ending ACL tear.  My mental evaluation didn’t go so well and rehab is a work in progress. I’ll get through it. I think.  You’ll be missed, JC.  You’ll be missed too, Miles Austin and Aaron Hernandez.  At least you two will come running back to me at some point, unlike JC.  I’m bitter.  I told you rehab wasn’t going so well.

Let’s take a look at who’s dealing with some dings and dents before I say something I regret and my belongings end up scattered over the front yard.

OUT FOR THE SEASON

Time to move on. I guess it was just a fling to them. It was fun while it lasted.

  • Jamaal Charles (KC – RB)
  • Marcus Easley (BUF – WR)
  • Roscoe Parrish (BUF – WR)
  • Jordan Shipley (CIN – WR)
  • Domenik Hixon (NYG – WR)
  • Nate Kaeding (SD – K)

OUT FOR WEEK 3

It was just a little fight, but they’ll be back.  For now, see what other fish are in the sea.

  • Peyton Manning (IND – QB)
  • Arian Foster (HOU – RB)
  • Peyton Hillis (CLE – RB)
  • Marques Colston (NO – WR)
  • Miles Austin (DAL – WR)
  • Mario Manningham (NYG – WR)
  • Jacoby Ford (OAK – WR)
  • Braylon Edwards (SF – WR)
  • Eddie Royal (DEN – WR)
  • Earl Bennett (CHI – WR)
  • Lee Evans (BAL – WR)
  • Antonio Gates (SD – TE)
  • Aaron Hernandez (NE – TE)
  • Julius Thomas (DEN – TE)

Quarterbacks

Michael Vick (concussion): Questionable. A neurosurgeon has cleared Vick to practice. Unless something goes wrong between now and gameday, Vick should be ready to go.  You may be nervous to start him, but don’t over-think yourself. You took Vick with a top selection in your draft for a reason.

Tony Romo (rib): Questionable. Romo didn’t practice on Thursday or Friday, but reports suggest he’s on track to play in the Monday nighter against the Redskins.  If Rex Grossman or Jon Kitna are still floating on the waiver wire, it would be wise of a Romo owner to pick one of them up just in case a last minute switch-a-roo is needed if Romo doesn’t play.

Cam Newton (ankle): Probable. Coming off back-to-back 400+ yard passing games to start his career, Newton now gets the Jags at home. The sore ankle shouldn’t keep him from being a top 10 quarterback again this week.

Matt Ryan (knee): Probable. Ryan was upgraded on Friday from questionable to probable.  I’m thinking he probably plays.  He doesn’t have his best games on the road, so I’m not expecting big things.

Mark Sanchez (elbow): Probable. He’ll play and has a decent match up against the Raiders.

Jason Campbell (foot): Questionable. Campbell has been limited in practice, but it would be a surprise if he doesn’t go against the Jets.

Running Backs

Chris Johnson (soreness): Probable. Soreness? C’mon, son. CJ is practicing so I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. If he misses a game due to “soreness”, well, that would just be embarrassing.

Darren McFadden (shoulder): Probable. “I’m good. I’m full steam. I’m not taking off any reps or anything, so I’m good.”  There you have it.  Sounds like he’s ready to rock and roll.

Mike Tolbert (calf): Probable. Tolbert didn’t practice on Thursday, but it sounds like he’ll play anyway. The Chiefs defense surrenders 25.5 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs (standard scoring), so consider he and Ryan Mathews both solid starts.

Steven Jackson (quad): Questionable. The Ravens are a tough match up even if Jackson suits up.  If he plays, I wouldn’t trust him for anything more than a flex type fantasy numbers.  It’s probably best to look elsewhere.

Knowshon Moreno (hamstring): Questionable. Moreno is practicing and looks like a go this weekend against the Titans.  Willis McGahee should still see most of the work. Both are flex options, with McGahee having more potential.

Beanie Wells (hamstring): Questionable. Michael Fabiano tweeted that Wells is a game-time decision. His match up against the Seahawks isn’t great anyway. There are better flex options out there.

Felix Jones (shoulder): Questionable. His shoulder is really bothering him. The Cowboys play Monday night against the Redskins, so he’s a risky start.  I would look for another option to be on the safe side. Tashard Choice and DeMarco Murray would see more touches if he’s a no go.  If I had to pick one, I’d go with Choice.

Reggie Bush (groin): Probable. Looks like he’ll play, but I’d only consider him as a deep PPR league flex option. He won’t get a lot of touches with Daniel Thomas emerging.

Marion Barber (calf): Questionable. Even if Barber plays, you can’t sit Matt Forte who currently leads all running backs in targets with 20 through the first two weeks of the season (15 catches).

Wide Receivers

Roddy White (knee): Probable. He was limited in Thursday’s practice as a precaution but practiced in full on Friday. Unless his status deteriorates Saturday, I’m not worried.

Calvin Johnson (ankle): Probable. He’s going to play.  You know what time it is.

Vincent Jackson (undisclosed): Probable. An undisclosed injury is tough to work with, but it’s speculated he was held out of practice to rest. I’m sure he’ll be out there this weekend doing his thang.

Kenny Britt (quads): Probable. He’s looking good in practice and shouldn’t have an issue giving it a go on Sunday.

Brandon Lloyd (groin): Probable. Lloyd was a late scratch last week, but appears on track to go this week. He’s worth starting, but I wouldn’t expect big things. The Titans have only allowed 1 receiving TD and  have only allowed 172 passing yards per game the first two weeks.

Brandon Marshall (groin): Probable. No worries with BMarsh. He’s a solid start against the Browns who have allowed a TD to both opposing #1 wide receivers the first two weeks.

Dez Bryant (leg): Questionable. Bryant missed practice on Thursday, but participated some on Friday.  He’s looking like a Monday night game-time decision. I’d plan for the worst and assume he doesn’t play. I’d pick up Kevin Ogletree or Anthony Armstrong off waivers to plug in his place if he’s a scratch.

Santonio Holmes (leg): Probable. Holmes has been upgraded from questionable to probable, so he’s a go this weekend.

Sidney Rice (shoulder): Probable. Pete Carroll said Rice is playing, but I wouldn’t put him in your line up until you see him actually catch a pass this year.

Malcom Floyd (groin): Doubtful. No practice for Floyd on Thursday. It’s not looking good at this point. Patrick Crayton would be a sneaky flex start if Floyd is out against a Chiefs team that has given up a league high 8 passing TDs.

Steve Johnson (groin): Probable. I don’t see him missing a huge divisional tilt with the Patriots.  He’s practicing so he should play.  The Bills will have to throw a lot to keep up with Tom Terrific, so I expect big things from Johnson unless he tweaks his ailing Johnson in game.

A.J. Green (toe): Probable.  It sounds like he’ll play, although this toe injury may effect his ability to kick ass somewhat.  I’m keeping expectations modest.

Percy Harvin (illness): Probable. A illness is tough to work with when it comes to his playing status.  Reports suggest he’ll play, but keep an eye on this situation.

Roy Williams (groin):Probable. Sounds like he’ll play, but I wouldn’t trust him against the Packers. He’ll re-aggravate his groin injury anyway when Clay Matthews kicks him in the groin after he does that stupid ass first down tomahawk chop after catching his one pass for the game.

Tight Ends

Jason Witten (ribs):Probable. Whether it’s Tony Romo or Jon Kitna under center, Witten should be locked into your line up.  He’ll be heavily relied upon with Miles Austin out and Dez Bryant hobbled.

JerMichael Finley (ankle): Probable. He was a late add to the injury report, but it’s just a technicality. Finley is ready to go.

Dallas Clark (foot): Questionable. Despite the questionable tag, Clark should play. He’s playing the Steelers though, so it’s not a crazy notion to look elsewhere for a TE if you’re a Clark owner.  Not a lot of upside there.

Kellen Winslow (knee): Questionable. Winslow practiced on Thursday and Friday so I don’t see him sitting this one out. I’m confident he’ll play.

Brandon Pettigrew (shoulder): Questionable. No practice for Pettigrew on Thursday, limited on Friday.  Tony Scheffler is a decent replacement for Pettigrew owners if he’s sits this one out.  The Vikings give up the yardage through the air and Matt Stafford is on fire.

Marcedes Lewis (calf): Probable.  Lewis is practicing and should play against the Panthers.  I don’t see a reason to start Lewis with all the TE talent out there. Luke McCown just crushes his value.

Kickers

Sebastian Janikowski (foot): Questionable. Sea Bass didn’t kick on Thursday and may miss Sunday’s game. Good thing kickers are always available on the waiver wire.

These are the significant injuries in my estimation, but if you’d like a more extensive injury report, check the ESPN injury report or the CBS Sports injury report.

This post will be updated as needed right up to Sunday kickoff.
