Judge…audience…people of the jury.¬† What we have here today in front of us is a case so vile…so heinous…so uncomfortably dramatized by the writer that we must bring it to light so that others might find a way to ease this poor man’s suffering.¬† BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been a stand-up RB2 for most of the year and his efforts have gone virtually ignored.¬† For every bright and shiny new running back toy we’ve found on the waiver wire, whether it was Bryce Brown or David Wilson, BJGE has been the rock that has guided his team to glory and what has he been given?¬† Has he received recognition?¬† Has he received acceptance?¬† Does he even receive many lede paragraphs?¬† No!¬† He goes about his business every week just like he did this week with 106 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries to go over 100 yards rushing for the 4th time in 5 weeks.¬† Ladies and Gentleman of the jury I ask you, are those the numbers of a man who deserves such disregard?¬† If he were on your fantasy football team would you simply say ‘yeah, I benched him for Jonathan Dwyer this week, so what?’.¬† No, it’s high time we realize that Green-Ellis has been one of the most consistent backs to own this year and sing his praises.¬† And with that, the defense rests *Que good ‘ole Eric Clapton guitarin*.¬† Ok, that was fun now back to real fantasy talk.¬† I almost wrote a sleeper post about him in the off-season but got scared when I heard Bernard Scott would split touches with him.¬† I like my backs to be masters of their backfield domain and I rarely buy into the 50/50 or 60/40 splits if they’re announced ahead of time.¬† Coming into Thursday Night Football, BJGE was on the cusp of RB1 territory with the 14th most points by a Running Back on the season in PPR formats and has been the 7th best back in the same setting over the last 4 weeks.¬† Now I’m not telling you it’s been beautiful.¬† Far from it.¬† There were some rough weeks to start the year but those are all in the past now.¬† The Law Firm has been true to his moniker: fair, just and insanely boring unless you dramatize the crap out of it a la Dick Wolf.¬† In other 2012 fantasy football news from Thursday Night Football…
Nick Foles – I talked about him a lot last week.¬† Like I keeper talked about him.¬† I also yadda’ed to the third in there as well but let’s get to the snippet that’s pertinent for tonight’s game: Moving forward, my main concerns with Nick would be two things.¬† One, how quickly will he make adjustments.¬† It took him about 2 1/2 games to get his footing to perform over these last two games.¬† These last three games ‚Äď one against a stingy Cincinnati secondary and another against a Redskins secondary that is easy to beat but man-handled him the first time the two teams played ‚Äď will tell a story of how we can view Foles looking forward. ¬†I think that was bigger than a snippet but smaller than a snausage.¬† Just so you know we’re on the same wave length, I’m not sure if I understand what I just said either.¬† What I will say is he was just a’ight tonight with 182 yards passing to go with one apiece of TD, INT, FMBL.¬† The interception was pretty bad: extremely telegraphed and extremely short, almost like he intended to hit a Bengal with the pass.¬† The fumble was originally awarded to Bryce but later was given to Foles because they can’t give it to the offensive line for letting someone get into the backfield before the ball is even handed off.¬† The flipside to the madness was a well-executed pass to Jeremy Maclin that got the Eagles into scoring territory for their only touchdown of the night.¬† For a short week, being a rookie and having very little help from his backfield mates, I’d say this Foles’ future breed went from Sarah Jessica Parker to Flea-Bitten Arabian.¬† Next Razzball Fantasy sports site: Equestrian.
A.J. Green – Green had 57 yards on 6 receptions and finally put his owners back in the red after a three week hiatus.¬† You know, I just got sick and tired of people telling me ‘all you do is score touchdowns’.¬† So over the last three weeks I recorded a psychobilly album, worked for an animal shelter and learned how to bake flan.¬† Sigh, is there nothing AJ can’t do?¬† He’s so dreamy.
Andy Dalton – Ugh, it was just a weird night for the Red Rocket.¬† The Tom Brady rule was about two centimeters from being into effect on both of his fumbles and the offensive play choices were a tad ridiculous.¬† I’m no coach but if my QB isn’t finding time to pass out of a 5 step drop, I’ll try a few slant passes and screens to get the defense to back off.¬† Instead, we were treated to one Dalton scramble after another as the only receiver to catch a pass from him was Green which means my Andrew Hawkins call last week went kapoof.¬† He still finished with an air/ground TD combo with 127 passing yards and 18 rushing.¬† I ranked him 6th this week and threw up in my mouth a little typing that.
