Week 10 was not good to Ol’ Doc, but I have been sitting zazen and visualizing my players crossing into the end zone over and over as stattracker rolls over from the excess amount of fake points. I’ve also had a word or three with my teams and I think we’re on the same page now. They seem to think it’s ok to suck, but now they’ve come to understand that I’m against that. So that’s good. I hope all y’all’s teams didn’t suck as bad as mine. While they let that sink in I’ll take a look at some of the comings and going of Sunday’s games.
Marshawn Lynch: If you owned Lynch and saw the Cowboys and Ravens’ rush defense on the schedule you were looking for a place to hide and you may have wet yourself. Of course like we all predicted Lynch went off in both of those games. Oh, I mean as nobody predicted. In those two games he had 312 total yards and 2 touchdowns. That’s a touchdown in his last 5 starts. He gets St. Louis next week.
Chris Johnson: His 174 total yards destroyed his average of 71 total yards a game and his touchdown equaled his total for the season. I can’t say that he looked all that dominating from what I saw, but I’ll take the big game. The Panthers are as inept at stopping the run as a blade of grass so if you can sell high before the trade deadline I’d give it a shot. I could see him averaging 100 total yards from here on out, but the touchdowns won’t be numerous.
DeMarco Murray: He is averaging 170.5 total yards in his last 4 games and totaled 171 against the Bills with a touchdown. If Felix Jones starts based on seniority all Cowboys fans should do mean things to Jason Garrett.
Tim Tebow: If you told me before this game that Tim Tebow would complete two passes and the Broncos would win I’d have said, yeah, that sounds about right.
Michael Vick: Now that was a crap fest by Vick and the Eagles for sure. Desean Jackson overslept and missed the game and then Jeremy Maclin was injured and missed much of the game so Vick was without his best receivers, but 16 of 34 for 132 yards, zero touchdowns and 2 interceptions is piss friggin poor. The Eagles are on a downward spiral right now. You’ll just have to hang on and hope they pull out of it.
Victor Cruz: He didn’t get into the end zone, but was targeted by Eli Manning 11 times and caught 6 for 84 yards. For an undrafted player he’s become a pretty reliable fantasy and real life player. The other Giants receivers also had nice games and both got into the end zone and each week all three have fantasy value. Hakeem Nicks is still the #1 but will also see the most extra coverage so can sometimes be held down.
Tony Romo: He went 23 of 26 for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 88.5 percent completion rate is by far his best on the season as well as his 3 TDs and zero interceptions. Romo might be hit and miss in real football but continues to put up decent fantasy numbers and has a nice schedule ahead of him.
Frank Gore: His 6 carries for 0 yards really helped my team out. At least that’s what I said as sarcastically as possible. I mean screamed while throwing shoes, pillows, etc… It looks like he added a knee injury to his ankle injury. He did play in the third quarter so it’s not like he is done for the year, but Kendall Hunter will most likely start to see more work to give Gore some rest.
John Skelton: I’ve liked a lot of what I’ve seen from him so far, but his 315 yards and 3 touchdowns won’t be an every week thing to be sure. He is a better pure passer than Kevin Kolb and looks like he gives Arizona a better chance to win. Kolb is probably making too much money to lose the job to injury at this point though.
Larry Fitzgerald: If John Skelton is passing for 315 yards Fitzgerald better get at least 146 yards and 2 touchdowns. So let’s see, how did he finish? Oh, wow, right on the money. I think Skelton gives him the most upside week to week, but Kolb should be back soon and Fitz will most likely go back to his wide receiver 2 status.
Antonio Brown: He just continues to put up good games. He didn’t get into the end zone, but he did have 5 receptions for 86 yards on 6 targets. Mike Wallace saw 10 targets so I’m not too worried about him fading away any time soon. The blustery conditions made deep passes a bit perilous in Cincinnati so 60 Minutes’ upside was hampered.
Willis McGahee: He strained his hamstring and strained my FanDuel teams and strained my relationship with my TV. He left the game early and then Knowshon Moreno left with a knee injury and Lance Ball took over from there. Right now it looks like McGahee may return next week while Moreno’s injury looks worse. Stay tuned to this station for updates.
Roy Helu: So Mr. Shanahan decided to start Ryan Torain over Roy Helu and Rex Grossman over John Beck. Now I could care less about Beck vs. Grossman, neither have shown much to get excited about, but the Torain start is mind boggling. Helu is just a better player than Torain and it shows every week. And this week nothing changed. Torain rushed11 times for 20 yards and when Helu got some work late in the game he rushed 6 times for 41 yards and caught 3 passes for 13. I know it sucks but you have to keep buying Helu.
Marques Colston: Colston was very efficient catching 8 passes on 9 targets for 113 yards. A touchdown would have been nice but Colston looked like the best receiver out there and as long as his knees hold up he’ll get a few more touchdown’s before years end.
Leonard Hankerson: The rookie had a nice game catching 8 passes for 106 yards. He continues to show improvement each week and looks like the #1 receiver now. He was on crutches after the game, but it looks like they are just precautionary. Or at least that’s what the internet tells me.
Laurent Robinson: Filling in for Miles Austin Robinson finished the day with three receptions for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tony Romo was on targets and the Bills pass defense showed their inability to cover spilled milk with a paper towel. Romo’s effeciency led to few targets all around but Witten had 7, Bryant 6 and Robinson 4. I’d say that ratio will keep up while Austin is out.
Damian Williams: He is quickly becoming the #1 receiver in Tennessee and finished with 5 receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown. This won’t be his norm, but I like him as a #3 WR going forward.
