As I’ve been alluding to in some past content, or peppering, if you will, and I might, because steak, the projections, like winter, were coming. There is no more alluding anymore folks. DEATH TO ALL ALLUSIONS. Because someone once told me that time is a flat circle. Everything we’ve done or will do, we’re going to do over and over again. Alright-alright-alright. In this regard, I wouldn’t mind if this day kept repeating itself. Because of steak, the end of allusions, and the 2014 Fantasy Football Projections are here. Could use more boobs though. I’ll look into that. (Life story bro.)

Note: I’d like to thank Rudy, for whom this would not be possible. I’m just going to assume dark wizardry was involved, and just keep my mouth shut. I shall sacrifice several Twix bars in your honor!

I am very happy to introduce Razzball’s 2014 Fantasy Football Projections

hey jaywrong, are you guys going to have IDP projections.
    1. basic league 1 keeper. julio/rodgers/gronk/cobb/ball/jeffery/allen (yeah i hoard these guys at end of season to screw over other team’s options if possible)
    2. i see you said your guys IDP rankings are skewered away from DB’s. what settings do basic espn IDP’s have. I’m in a league with
    tackle = 1 pt
    assist = .5
    sack = 2
    pick = 3
    FF = 1
    Fum recov = 2
    TD = 6
    safety = 2
    block kick = 2
    tackle for loss = .5
    pass defended = 1
return yards on turnover = 1 pt per 10 yards.
first year on IDP’s and i joined probably the deepest possible (3 LB/2 DE/ 2 DT/ 2 CB/ 2 S). almost done reading each and every post and comment for football (started about a week ago). in full on preseason mode now.

@goodfold2: I’d keep Julio. I pinged our IDP guy for the other question.

    • Kevin Kumpf

      Kevin Kumpf says:

      @goodfold2:

No IDP Projections this year, but it’s on my radar for next year.

That IDP scoring system seems pretty standard, I’m used to seeing sacks and picks as the same amount of points, but other than that it’s how I base my rankings. The roster setup is different though, and I like it. Forcing you to start both DTs and CBs opens up more players, and levels the playing field a bit. Regardless, DBs can and should be streamed outside of the top 10.

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@Kevin Kumpf: kevin, so i’m guessing that makes your rankings quite apt for my league parameters (which is great, since i’d be real lost if not).
Jaywrong, i forgot that keeper league question above had 6 pt for throwing TD’s and a 6 pt bonus for 300 yards passing, but also 6 pt bonus for 100 yards catching or running too. just checking if that changes julio as best (it probably doesn’t much, as he’s much younger than rodgers)

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@goodfold2: yeah, I’d still go Julio here.

Hey Jay. This will be my first forray into the fantasy foots. 1 QB, PPR league. Who are you keeping from this bunch:

    Marshawn Lynch

    Antonio Brown

    Mike Wallace

    Michael Crabtree

    Eli Manning

    Riley Cooper

    Julio Jones

    Andre Brown

    Darren McFadden

    Trent Richardson

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Pigs says:
    (link)

Hey Jay, love all of the fantasy help you’ve provided. I have a specific question though and hope you will affirm my current thoughts:

I am trying to decide between keeping Gio Bernard as a 5th rounder, or Vereen as a 6.
    .5 point PPR…and I’m leaning towards Gio.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

I’m not a huge Gio guy. Leaning Vereen here.

  4. The Thumb says:

Hey Jay, I’m in an 8 team standard league with friends and b/c I won last year, I get first dibs on my draft position (we’re broke, don’t hate). Anywho, I have no idea which of the top 3 picks I should claim as my own. Personally I’m tempted to take #2 because I don’t really care whether I get AP or Jamaal (G-Men fan here so no McCoy for me haha).

Ultimately my question comes down to the picks 15-19 at the turn, would I better off trying to land 2 WR1s or hope that Murray falls/reach for either Bell, Morris, Mathews. Further, if a guy like Rodgers is available, is that late enough to make it tempting or should I wait on QBs no matter what?

Sorry it was so long and convoluted, but thanks for your help!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

I would wait on QB’s (especially in a 8-teamer) and go WR heavy at that position. I think a lot of WR1’s will be there. But if someone gets devalued like a Bell or Morris, yeah, I’m okay with that. Mathews should be going in the 4th round, maybe. That’s value and I’d take it.

  5. mguy31 says:

12 team, Standard Scoring. 3 WR + FLEX. Since my league has 3 WR positions would it be crazy to take Calvin Johnson with the 2nd overall pick? I was thinking of either doing that or taking Charles or McCoy, then going WR, WR with my next two picks. What do you think?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

Not at all. An argument can be made for taking Johnson as a top-5 in any format.

    • Jay

I’d just like to add, RCL self-promotion, or what I call “doing the Bono” is totally welcome here. If your league needs some filling, post the link in any and all comment sections… even the baseball side. So way to go JeF. I approve this message.

10-team dynasty, non-PPR, 2Rb/2WR/Flex, who’s your first drop out of Michael and Lattimore? My other RBs are Forte, Foster, Rice, L. Miller, Tate and possibly a draft pick (I pick 9th in our rookie/FA draft; in addition to the rookies, Gerhart, Pierce and K. Davis are interesting options at RB).

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

Lattimore, and it’s not close for me. I think it’s the Gore/Hyde show this season.

  7. The Thumb says:
    (link)

Sorry if I missed the post, but why so low on AJ Green this year? Just because Dalton sucks?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

I’m a little bit lower, I wouldn’t say drastically. It’s not that Dalton sucks, he’s capable, despite his ginger handicap, but Hue Jackson has no idea what receivers are or what they do.

  8. TJ says:
    (link)

    Jay,

Did a 10-team, Yahoo Pro League and had the 7th pick…thoughts?

    QB – A. Luck
    RB – Forte
    RB – Ellington
    WR – Marshall
    WR – A. Brown
    WR – C. Patterson
    TE – Z. Ertz
    K – Didn’t draft one
    DEF – Cleveland
    Bench – Hyde
    Bench – B. Pierce
    Bench – Mi. Floyd
    Bench – J. Hill
    Bench – J. White
    Bench – Josh Gordon

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@TJ: I love the upside of your bench. I’m obviously high on Luck, Forte, and Brown. And praise be to you to follow one of the Razz strat’s, and that’s not drafting a kicker.

      • TJ says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks! I can’t really pat myself on the back, b/c there were only two teams that looked like they knew what they were doing (from how they drafted and peeking at their fantasy profile). Seattle D was picked at 32 overall and two kickers went in Rd 9, so there were some opportunities for guys to fall. It’s a $100 buy-in, and I’ll never understand how that happens every time.

Anyway, I’m salty I didn’t get Brandin Cooks (it was either him or Hyde). The guy that has him needs WR help, as he draft bench players with his 4th and 5th rd picks. he was the 1st pick and went Charles, Brees, and Bell, but they proceed to draft Cam and CJ Spiller….what is realistic to offer him for Cooks?

Thanks again! Keep up the great work!

        – TJ

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@TJ: I might try to trade Gordon. Even if he doesn’t get suspended the full season, they still haven’t even dealt with his DUI yet.

    Jay!

Question for you bud. Actually by the time I am done writing this I will probably have more questions!

First: What the hell am I supposed to do in the 2nd round? I feel like its a lot uncertainty. How do you feel about the likes of Bell, Bernard, Martin, Stacy, Foster, Marshall and Morris? Or do I throw a nasty hook and snatch up Rodgers or Brees if still out there? Are you seeing a bounceback from Martin or Morris? I need some help coaxing me into feeling better about this round.

Second: Keep three, all keepers and all avaialble at last few round penalty.
Stacy, Gronk, Demayrius, Alshon, DeMarco Murray

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jay_0321: No worries, what I’m here for!

In that group, I’m targeting Bell, Martin, Stacy, and Marshall. You can wait on QB’s this season.

For keepers, I’d choose Thomas, Alshon, and Murray.

      • Jay_0321 says:
        (link)

Murray would be a 12th rounder and Stacy would be last round. Any change to your thought [email protected]Jay:

    Hey Jay,

In a PPR league, I see that you have AP as the #2 RB and McCoy as the #4.

Would you want McCoy over AP in a keeper league though? No limitations on the length a player can be kept.

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@alcohol abuser: Yeah, I think I might, but it’s real close. AP get s a bump because I’ve never seen a RB that didn’t get more receptions when Norv Turner arrived.

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Jay: Yeah, that would give the edge to Stacy.

  11. Nimrod says:
    (link)

Most writers, talk show host and people ask about keepers and who to take in round 1 and 2. My question is who to take in say rounds 4 thru 7. Is filling up your roster a good strategy? For example get your 2 RB, 2 WR, a flex a TE then go for depth or is perceived value the way to go?

Just to make sure from one of your previous posts is the super flex with QB as one of the choices essentially a 2 QB league meaning a guy should draft a QB right away (1st)?

Thank you in advance. I enjoy your posts.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nimrod: In keeper leagues, I would say it’s a balance, sure. I generally prefer to fill up my WR and RB position with the best player available, whomever that may be.

And yup, in a 2-QB league, like I said, you gotta go QB/QB. Even with the depth this season, they simply put up so many points, you can’t afford to come up empty handed there. I’m okay going QB/(WR or RB or Graham)/QB too, but that depends on context.

  12. Tim says:
    (link)

    Hey Jay,
I’m in a 12 man, Ppr league and I can either draft out of the 1st slot or the 5th. Which do you think is better?

Also, looking forward to seeing how 6 pt td’s for qb’s impact rankings.

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      I’d prefer the 5th.

And yeah, just looked at my schedule, be sure to look for it on Wednesday. Any time!

      Jackson/Clay side.

  14. Chazz says:

Jay – regular type H2H league. Two WR, Two RB and one WR/RB Flex. I can keep Arian Foster, Andre Ellington and Alshon Jefferey right now. Would you recommend sticking with those 3. I could also trade a 2nd rounder for Demarco Murray. Or a 7th Rounder for Ryan Matthews who i know you’re big on. What’s my move and who do you recommend dropping out of my top 3 if i do make a move.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

I actually like those three keepers, despite my Mathews infatuation.

  15. PaulieD says:
    (link)

First time I’ve come here for football advice. I joined a dynasty league where you basically keep your entire roster. Do you have player rankings for dynasty leagues? If you don’t, do you have any recommended trusted sources that do?

    thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

We don’t this season, our dynasty guy moved on to bigger and better things. If you have specific questions, I’d be happy to help though.

      • PaulieD says:
        (link)

I didn’t really have any one specific question. I’ve never been in a dynasty league before and I was just curious how dynasty leagues impacted player values. It also scores passing TDs as 6 points so that throws another wrinkle in there too.

Obviously you’re not in the business of sending people to other sites but do you have anyone you’d recommend? Razz always has good info and I’d go to someone you recommended rather than just blindly hitting up Google.
