As you might have noticed, we’ve already gone into offseason mode here at Razzball Football, but don’t worry to all of you who are in unique formats, we’ll continue to do weekly rankings right up to the Super Bowl (and you’ll find our Week 17 Rankings after the jump). But for all intents and purposes, the majority of all leagues have come to an end, including our wonderful Razzball Commenter Leagues, of which we’ll be announcing the grand prize winner later this week. But basically, the rankings have been concluded this year and I’m happy to report, with FantasyPros’ help, our final results (the week-by-week results are available after the jump)…

Year Accuracy Rank High Low Percentile
2015 57.5% 22 out of 123 59.9% 51.6% Top 20%
2014 58.1% 31 out of 125 60.7% 50.6% Top 25%

As you can see, not only did we improve from last season, we also finished just outside the coveted “Top-20” of all “experts”. (And seeing as how nearly all of those top-20 sites only offer rankings through paid subscriptions, I’m proud we were able to have such a strong showing while also sharing that with our readers without a paywall.)

Now, I don’t normally toot my own horn, mainly because my rib cage is still largely intact, but I want to note that we finished higher than essentially all of the industry leaders; Dalton Del Don, Liz Loza, Andy Behrens, Brad Evans, and Brandon Funston of Yahoo! Sports, John Halpin and Adam Meyer of Fox Sports, Chet Gresham of WalterFootball, Jamey Eisenberg of CBS Sports, Scott Engel of RotoExperts, and Tristen Cockcroft and Eric Karabell of ESPN Sports. (Matthew Berry has removed himself from this group. No clue as to why…) What does this actually mean for you? Well, I’m not totally sure, but you should probably stay away from Yahoo for a while. That’s my take on the situation.

Honestly though, I’d like to think that the community found some sort of fantasy success by reading through my drunken ramblings and d*ck jokes. And if you didn’t, well, based on our accuracy results, you probably did better than most, right? Haha, just kidding. All of our teams sucked complete and utter ass this year because 90% of the league’s players had season-ending injuries by Week 3. So maybe the secret is: ranking is totally easier when only 10% of the player pool is alive? Now there’s something to think about.

You’re welcome, all of you Statistic majors needing a thesis topic…

Will there be keeper rankings? No rush but curious. I’m definitely keeping LeVeon Bell but have to choose a 2nd out of these folks:

    Eddie Lacy (8.3 ppg)
    David Johnson (11.6)
    TY Hilton (9.2)
    Keenan Allen (11.8)
    Sammy Watkins (12.1)
    Justin Forsett (9.1)
    Jimmy Graham (6.6)

    Thanks!

@ashtray: Naw, it’s a good reminder. Yeah, I’ll be doing something like that in January for sure. When is the cut date for you?

I’d probably hold on Johnson. It’s close with Allen though.

@Jay: No rush. I have roughly 7 months to make a decision.

@ashtray: Haha, we should be talking about Joey Bautista and Scott Kazmir and stuff like that then…

Hey Jay what’s up… My stupid PPR league has the Championship this week instead of last so i lost some key players being benched.. I grabbed Hoyer and Fitz but you didn’t rank Hoyer. He has a great matchup against JAX and is Proj. 31 points. Who would you use?? I have Rivers and Cousins but cousins is benched and Rivers is against DEN

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Frank White: Ah, totally forgot. Thanks for that. I put him at 13, ahead of Bortles. Go Hoyer, and good luck!

      • Frank White says:
        (link)

Thanks… You got Fitz in front of him though. Still Hoyer?

@Frank White: Ah, I totally read my rankings wrong. Yeah, I think Fitz, but it’s really close.

at least there’s no thursday game to have to wade through the hangover to pick one of keenum/mettenberger/k.moore or just stick with cousins and watch him play a half or less.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: Amen brotha, i’m wasted right now and couldn’t handle that at all.

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@Jay: how come you moved keenum off the list? earlier he was higher than mettenberger. i could grab either of them, but i’d rather stick with somebody who might be a starter for next year, and certainly keenum is that. my roster is very locked into WAS players, would you really play
        1. garcon over agholor?
        2. reed over either of tye or ASJ?
        3. obv i’m sitting cousins for i thought keenum but now he’s off list, even without no gurley playing?

        • goodfold2 says:
          (link)

@goodfold2: could also grab mccoy, freeman or moore. Yahoo thinks they will all start (or in mccoy’s case nearly so)

          • Jay

            Jay says:
            (link)

@goodfold2: I’m pretty sure Freeman is.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@goodfold2: I moved him back, yeah, I started not liking the matchup up as the week went on. But for your league’s format, he’s still a somewhat interesting hold there. I might mix things up a bit here as well. ASJ over Reed, but Garcon over Agholor. Not sure what to expect from the Eagles right now.

          • goodfold2 says:
            (link)

@Jay: why is tye lower than ASJ, CAR is great at TE’s, and in general, but PHI is 18th vs TE’s from football outsiders. and keenum i’ll stick with, only 1 spot lower than mettenberger, but could start next year, mettenberger has nearly no chance at that.

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@goodfold2: i just think tye will see some volume today. It’s more gut for me, honestly.

              • goodfold2 says:
                (link)

@Jay: drat, and cousins goes and gets likely more than keenum will get.

                • goodfold2 says:
                  (link)

@goodfold2: wow, so the old adage that “any NFL QB is decent, as long as the D doesn’t care” holds true, moore got nearly 60 pts in our league today after 2 other starting weeks of getting less than 8 and less than 10. turns out those 2 (or even 1 spot) from moore>mettenberger>keenum were a big deal. Really, though, if i wouldn’t have held keenum (due to maybe him starting next year) i would’ve grabbed Mettenberger, who’s the worst this week out of all of them. Moore i’ve seen be too awful for 2 weeks previous.

                  • Jay

                    Jay says:
                    (link)

@goodfold2: That’s crazy. And yeah, no matter how little it is Keenum has some upside just because of having a rocket arm. Didn’t work out for Derek Anderson, but we’ll see.

I’m in a real bind here. I MUST win this championship tomorrow and I need some advice. It’s a standard scoring league (QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, FLX, D/ST, K). My roster looks like this:
    QB- Stafford
    RB- David Johnson
    RB- ?
    WR- Antonio Brown
    WR- Odell Beckham Jr
    TE- Greg Olsen
    FLEX- ?
    K- Josh Brown
    D/ST- KC

My bench players are Calvin Johnson, Eddie Lacy, Latavius Murray, Lamar Miller, James White, Mike Evans and Matt Ryan. Who should I start in my RB2 and FLEX spots? I’m desperate!

  5. Joe says:
    (link)

I have Jordan Reed and I’m wondering whether to start him or Seferian-Jenkins since it looks like they might rest Reed this week. Any reason you have Reed so much higher this week?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Joe: Yeah, the rankings will be updated later today, but I think they are a lot closer today than at the beginning of the week. I think ASJ might edge him out.

  6. Mike says:

Hurns or James white at Flex?
    Standard league
    Help!!

    • Jay

@Mike: Probably White, but it’s tough. Good luck!

      • Mantis Toboggan MD says:
        (link)

@Jay: that NE not giving a F tanked one team in a redraft 20 teamer, where i was best team all year. martin/white both played for me. had i been omniscent (and/or guessed d-will would get hurt) i’d have played sims over one of d-will/white and won. i might’ve had to play inman over martin for that omniscence argument to work though.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Mantis Toboggan MD: It’s tough exactly because the Patriots and running backs aren’t something that sits well together.

nice to see ertz doing well to end season. and for coughlin it’s finally time for the glue factory, any twit dumb enough to take 14 weeks to learn to give carries to roughshod should be taken on a little vacation.

    Hey Jay,

Thanks for all of your great work this year. Minus getting porn stached in week 15, I would have had the title no problem.

Will you guys do an overall Playoff ranking? I do a pool every year where you take 15 guys for the whole playoffs (no def). I make the money basically every year, but would value the Razz input.

Happy New Year and thanks again for everything.

@artzlab: Thanks! And sorry to hear to came up short. I’d probably blame Tehol.

Yes, we’ll be doing playoff rankings, and they’ll come out on Thursdays until the Super Bowl.

  10. Steve Stevenson says:

Shallow dynasty league, one more bite at the waiver wire this season if I want. 10 teams, standard scoring, 6pt pass TD. My roster:

    QB – Roethlisberger
RB – Forte, Foster, J. Hill, Langford, Duke Johnson, McKinnon
WR – Megatron, Dez, K. Allen, Hurns, DGB, Lockett, K. White
    TE – Graham, Gates, ASJ
    DST – SEA

Intriguing names on the wire are DEN DST, M. Bennett and Cousins. Make any moves, or hold?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: I would have held here. Love your team man. A lot of depth. Some age, but some young names.

      • Steve Stevenson says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks, man. I ended up holding. Won it all last year but given injury and performance issues I was happy just to make the playoffs this year.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Steve Stevenson: I hear ya. The injuries were just so atrocious this year for some reason. Almost like the 2014 baseball season.
