As I’ve been alluding to in the quite recent past, or peppering, if you will, and I might (because steak?), the projections, like winter, were coming. And since winter is most definitely here (in the Game of Thrones sense, not the literal sense), there is no more alluding anymore folks. DEATH TO ALL ALLUSIONS. Because someone once told me that time is a flat circle. Everything we’ve done or will do, we’re going to do over and over again. Alright-alright-alright. In this regard, I wouldn’t mind if this day kept repeating itself. Because of steak, the end of allusions, and the arrival of our 2016 Fantasy Football Projections. Could use more boobs though. I’ll look into that. (Life story bruh.)

Now, before we get to the good stuff, I just wanted to go over a few things. First, these projections (for over 350 players!) aren’t just some random numbers put into random places for random people to look at. They are based on career performance, last year’s performance, the player’s durability, etc., and so those all these things are mixed, stirred, shaken, whichever you prefer, and then the math happens. I then take what the math did and put my own touches on it (legal touches), altering the numbers a bit here and there. Granted, we aren’t the big boys like ESPN, Yahoo, and CBS, but I’ve been very happy with our system these past few years. (And I should note that we beat out all three in rankings accuracy the past two years we’ve been here, including many-many other major outlets.) Second, you probably won’t see an exact correlation with our projections and our rankings. There will be matches, for sure, but think of the projections as a range-estimation (is that a term?) for what we think the players will produce. While I went with a more conservative approach here, don’t be surprised if there’s a 5% (or close to) swing in either direction for some players who either end up over-performing or under-performing. Just the nature of the beast.

And before we get to the projections, I’d like to thank Rudy, for whom this would not be possible. I’m just going to assume dark wizardry was involved, and just keep my mouth shut. I shall sacrifice several Twix bars in your honor!

Note: These projections will be updated if there are any major injuries or other shifting events, like Eddie Lacy magically not sucking any more, and there will also be minor edits at least once a week, so be sure to check in here and there. Also, very soon, we’ll be adding 14-team auction values as a sortable category, and we’ll also be adding position specific projection pages so you can sort that way as well!

I am very happy to introduce Razzball’s 2016 Fantasy Football Projections

Got my ppr draft coming up Saturday!
Taking Antonio brown #1 overall, keeping Lat Murray
Would I be better off taking Hilton and top te reed off the
board at 2nd and 3rd round since when I pick in 4th and 5th Kelce and Olsen will already be gone?

Or take Hilton and Watkins and worry about te in the 6th round and beyond?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Db: I’d go Hilton and Watkins, and see what’s left. I think Gates is a nice pick. Barnidge. Eifert, Fleener, etc…

Hey Jay Longfellow ;) my new Buddy

i know it’s MY team , and a special keeper league , so maybe no one would focus on that post,
    but it’s an interesting read

here is my how next week keeper’s draft looks like now:
    40 keepers players on 8teams
2teams didn’t come back, so few early rounders players avb at draft
    My Team is:
    QB1 Luck
    RB1 Gurley
    RB2 Ingram
    RB3 Rawls
    WR1 ABrown

so i need to focus on WR
    surprised i pick 3rd / 8 teams – i thougth reverse rankings draft pick but no^^

WR avalaible at draft are :
DeA Hopkins (will be gone with 1stpick)
BMarshall (should be gone with 2nd pick or Lucky-me! )
    Amari Cooper
DemariusThomas (could be a good pick, better than Cobb?)
    DBaldwin
RCobb (was in my team so at worse i’ll get him back)
    GTate
JMaclin (can land him with pick 14th /#54?)
    LFitz
    Edelman

RB avalaible at draft are : no need , but i can make a valuable pick
    Elliott (duh! rookie this high?)
    LVBell
    DMartin (was on my team)
    Hyde
    DMMurray
    LTMurray (was on my team)

    19th (#59) pick: i’d go Kelce
TE avb: Delanie Walker Coby Fleener

how would you work this up?

    Nick the French Hamster

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Nick: Nick! What’s up man?

Out of those WR’s, I’m really liking Cooper, Cobb, Edelman, and maybe Maclin if at the right price. Where you have them feels right. I might focus on Bell, and I always want Hyde, but price is the big deal. I don’t want to pay a premium. Kelce is fine, but I’d be okay with those backup options too.

      • Slotty Seconds says:
        (link)

        @Jay: have a 10 team standard draft 2rb/1flex/2wrs

Always seem to get the value guys and just barely make the playoffs…thinking about going all in on antonio brown/Beckham for just under 60$ and then grabbing a safe rb 1 (Mccoy 16$) and 2 mediocre guys like j Stewart and Rashad jennings. Option 2 I grab 3 rb 1s (ingram, lacy, mccoy, bell)and either antonio brown or beckham and a hurns/devante parker for 1$ or 2

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Slotty Seconds: Yeah, I think the star/scrub approach is valid, You just gotta land on the cheaper guys. McCoy there seems very good. Jennings is okay too. Can’t go wrong going Brown though, honestly.

          • Slotty Seconds says:
            (link)

@Jay: cheaper stars or cheaper scrubs?

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Slotty Seconds: Well, I wouldn’t recommend investing into, like, nine Christine Michaels. I think a good approach is one big star, then spread around the rest.

hells yeah projections are here. same 20 teamer dynasty
    QB cousins/RG3 (start 1)
    RB AP/blount/sims/mckinnon (29th pick)/c.thompson (WAS, 60th pick) (start 1)
WR doctson (fell to 20th overall, some autopickers thanks for that one yahoo)/d-jax/aiken/garcon/agholor
    (start 2)
    TE reed/ASJ
1 RB/WR/TE flex (and rush yards are only 5 per point, receiving 15 per, PPR)
K parkey (about 2-3 total starting kickers out there in case parkey doesn’t get this job, his upside seemed better than others)
    LB david/k.alexander/kendricks/anthony (start 3)/s.cravens (40th overall)
    DT donald/c.baker(start 2)
    DE c.campbell/heyward/c.johnson (CAR), (start 2)
    S l.collins/bucannon (sounds like he’ll have LB really soon)/parker/k.joseph (start 2)
    CB hall/breeland (start 2)
IR daniels (WAS LB)/galette (WAS LB)/doctson

after not being able to even get pick 2.1 from CLE for RG3 predraft, now he’s willing to give me keenum + goff for RG3. now i dropped keenum, and nobody else wanted keenum either (even post waivers). so i’d just drop keenum here, i don’t have another good drop anywhere else.

    • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
      (link)

@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: it’s funny that i wasn’t even able to get pick 2.1 predraft, as CLE used pick 1.5 for goff, CLE had traded for a lot of high picks (got elliot at 1.1)

@Jay: crap, went went at 2.1. dynasty QB rankings say go kaepernick here at 2.4, have any of siemian/sanchisz/gabbert/prescott/any other rookie moved ahead here?

looking like or short term siemian > sanchise and gab > kaep, and probably gab ober alles for the short term? prescott might be a good stash though.

  4. Paradise paved says:
    (link)

    Hey jay,

Thanks for the advice all preseason. I’ve listened to you and held onto Antonio brown in my keeper league.

    – keep up to 4, lose corresponding draft pick if all 4 players are kept
    – half ppr

Our keepers are due soon and I wanted to get a final opinion on who to keep with brown, lacy, Evans, Russell Wilson, Matt jones, Cobb, Maclin.

I have the last pick in each round, 4th round = pick 48. I’ve tried to trade away Cobb, Maclin, Wilson for picks, but no one is willing to deal picks this year.

I was thinking brown, lacy, Evans, and unsure about the 4th. Keep Wilson and try for a rb in round 5 (pick 60?) not sure who will be available by that time.

    Thoughts ? Thanks again

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Paradise paved: Of course! Just to make sure, lets say you keep Brown, Evans, Cobb, and like you want Lacy… does that mean all your first four rounds are gone? Just want to make sure.

      • Paradise paved says:
        (link)

        @Jay:
Yes. Typically each team keeps 3 to 4 guys each, so the top tiered players are all gone within rounds 1-4. . The first four rounds would be gone for me if I kept those players . Starting in round 5, everything goes back to normal.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Paradise paved: I would actually go Brown, Evans, Cobb, and Maclin. His value is underrated in half-PPR and I think it could warrant fourth round value.

          • Jay

            Jay says:
            (link)

@Jay: This is assuming 3 WR plus a flex.

            • Paradise paved says:
              (link)

              @Jay:
I should have mentioned 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 Wr no flex

              • Jay

                Jay says:
                (link)

@Paradise paved: Ah, that changes things. Yeah, I think your original feel was correct. Evans, Brown, Lacy, and Wilson, then try to fill out that 5th rounder with a RB.

                • Paradise Paved says:
                  (link)

                  @Jay:

One owner is still trying hard for brown as our keeper deadline is tonight.

Would you do AB and maybe thrown in (Cobb, Maclin, or Jones because I wouldn’t be able to keep them) for Gurley and Allen Robinson? …and maybe get him to throw in a late round pick

This would leave me with Gurley/Lacy/Evans/Robinson or would you still prefer:
                  Russel Wilson/Lacy/AB/Evans?

                  • Jay

                    Jay says:
                    (link)

@Paradise Paved: I still think you are getting the bad end of a deal.

I could see AB, Jones for Gurley, A-Rob plus a higher pick. I just don’t think that pick should be a throwaway.

                    • Paradise Paved says:
                      (link)

                      @Jay:
Would you trade Lacy for freeman? It’s my last year to keep Lacy with our 3 years of eligibility rule .

  5. Scott Hagen says:

Here’s my squad in a keeper league. When we draft too early I tend to skip K and Def and figure out who to drop as the season gets closer
    Stafford, Brady
    Odell, K allen, denaryious, San
Ingram, Latavius, Gore, Jennings, Henry, Coleman, C Michael, J howard,
    Ebron, Bennett
    2 wr, 2 rb and a flex
    What do you think?

@Scott Hagen: Yeah, I agree with this strat… I think right now… wait, who’s San? Regardless, I think maybe Howard and maybe Michael maybe safe drops when the time comes, but we should wait until week 3 is over.

      • Scott Hagen says:
        (link)

@Jay: sanu. What do you think of the team??

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Scott Hagen: Oh, yeah, I think it’s a very safe team, and I like that. It’s okay depth, average all around, sans ODB, and I think that you’ll be stable. Not exciting, but could very well get the job done. Sometimes, being safe and spreading the value is a really great thing.

          • Scott Hagen says:
            (link)

@Jay: nice. Thanks. In another league I have keeper options of Kelvin or Gordon. Assuming gordon doesn’t fail another drug test…. who is the better keeper?

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Scott Hagen: I still think its Benjamin… but it’s hard to fight the hype on Gordon right now. It’s strong. Smart choice is Kelvin, bold choice is Gordon.

    Nice work Jay!

I”m seriously considering taking Lamar over Elliot in a 1PPR / .25PPC league. Are you on board with that idea?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@swaggerjackers: I am okay with this. I think I’m in on the Miller hype, but something is holding me a little back… but I’m very comfortable taking him over Elliot.

  7. Velocity_X says:
    (link)

    Hey Jay,

I’m in a little bit of a pickle and need to make a tough choice for my keeper selection. We can only keep up to 3 players per year and I have 4 potential guys:

    Mark Ingram (RB) [R10]
    Jeremy Langford (RB) [R12]
    Josh Gordon (WR) [R12]
    Marvin Jones (WR) [R12]

I have 2 R12 picks, so no matter what I will be able to keep two players in that round. I’m torn for a number of reasons, however I am leaning towards not keeping Jones. I think he will do well but has the least potential for big numbers out of the group. I would really value your opinion on this though.

As a side note, Ingram has the worst long-term keeper value for me because we do a draft + 2 yr keeper rule and this is the last year I could keep him. So having someone like Jones could be great value down the road.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Velocity_X: I agree with you. It’s all close, but Jones is the weak link here in this format.

  8. Matt says:
    (link)

In a 12-team standard league, what do you think is the ideal draft slot range with this year being slight more WR-heavy than ever? I get to pick my position but I’m 9th in line.

    Thanks!

    • Matt says:
      (link)

@Matt: BTW, I’m still in favor of selecting at least 1 RB in the first two rounds and finding WR bargains later on.

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

I agree, don’t wait too long on WR, but going RB-RB or RB-WR is still a good idea.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

In standard leagues? Based on your situation, I think after the middle, something like 6-9 is ideal. A lot of RB’s are dropping, and that’s a great value for teams in that range. So don’t feel bad if you don’t get to pick higher up.

      • Matt says:
        (link)

@Jay: Surprisingly, some in my league have wised up and the middle picks are very popular. I now have the choice of picking 2nd or 9th-12th. I feel like the only player I can really trust at 2 is Odell, assuming AB is taken 1st. Gurley does deserve to be considered there but his crappy team and injury history worry me.

I can’t decide if picking Odell is worth more than waiting for value at the end of round and getting two solid starters in the same range. Would appreciate some guidance, you guys are killing the fantasy analysis game!

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Matt: Hey man, yeah, that’s a tough decision. In a PPR league, I’d tell you to go for it, but I think you should go for the 9 slot and aim for some solid RB’s or RB/WB on the turn. You’ll get a lot of value here.

  9. Nick says:
    (link)

Jay! What up bro?! I’m en-route to Vegas but wanted to share my first team drafted in a 10 team standard league….

    QB- Big Ben
    RB- D Johnson
    RB- D Freeman
    WR- Marshall
    WR- Maclin
    WR-J Brown
    TE- Barnidge
    Flex- L Murray
    K- Gano
    D-Zona
Bench- Forsett, Starks, Vereen, Snead, S Smith Sr & T Taylor

So my bench is definitely weak for 10 team & WR worries me a bit. Thoughts? Thanks bud! Also, red or black? Will put down 100 to start my trip off on the color of your choice!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nick: What up! Have a good trip man.

Eh, your bench is actually okay. Vereen and Forsett, and Smith are meh, but I do like Starks there along with Tyrod. If Taylor shows something, you could probably trade for better depth or trade Ben for a better piece.

I love your RB group with Johnson and Freeman, and your WR should be good enough.

  10. B.J. says:
    (link)

    Hey folks,

I just finished my draft and I think I like it, but I have a weird feeling that I can’t shake. This is a 12 team Non-PPR league and I had the 4th pick.

QB- R. Wilson WR- Jeffery, Moncrief, Wheaton (until Gordon gets back)
RB- Gurley, McCoy Flex- Gore TE- Ertz
K- Hauschka DEF- Jets (I plan on streaming)

Bench- D. Carr, Forsett, Gordon, B. Powell, T. Riddick, W. Fuller

    What’s your take? Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@B.J.: Yo B.J., I understand the weird feeling. I’d be kinda anxious with McCoy, Gore, and Moncrief… but there’s enough here to work with. Jeffery will hold the WR down until Gordon’s arrival, and you just need McCoy to put in a lot of games to be competitive. He’s your lynchpin I think.

  11. Rondo says:
    (link)

I’m in a 12-team .5PPR league. My two keepers are A. Robinson (4th round) and Evans (7th round).I have the 4th pick in the 1st round and in our format you can start up to 4WR. Who are your top 5 from the list below for me to target on draft day?

    Format
    QB
    RB
    WR
    WR
    WR-RB
    WR-TE

    Antonio Brown
    Julio Jones
    A.J. Green
    Ezekiel Elliott
    Adrian Peterson
    Dez Bryant
    Jamaal Charles
    Le’Veon Bell

    Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Rondo: Rondo, my man. Brown, Jones, Green, AP and Bryant I think are your guys. I’m kinda thinking about what Romo’s news does to Dez right now, but I think that’s a slight downgrade. I might actually want Charles over AP… I think just focus on Brown, Jones, and Green, I think you’ll get one of those guys.

      • Rondo says:
        (link)

@Jay: Jay I forgot one (important) caveat. None of these first round players can be keepers. Anyone drafted in the first goes back in the draft pool automatically.

        1) Does that change your rankings since they are all one year rentals?

        2) I expect Brown, Jones and Green to be gone ahead of my pick at 4. I’m surprised you made no mention of Bell or Zek in a .5PPR. Is it the weed smoking and surveying? What makes them dip behind AP and Charles?

        Thanks!

@Rondo: 1) Hmm, I don’t think so. I’m not sure you could grab any of these guys in later rounds if I’m understanding this correctly. 2)I think Charles still edges Bell, only because he can put up better numbers because of the three week absence… I got iffy on AP there. Not sure if I want him in this format with Charles there. Bell is after Charles I think here.

    .5 ppr league

We can keep as little as 5 and as many as 7.

The way my team is stacked up I think I have to keep 7. I’m thinking in keeping the following:

    A Rodgers
    Jordy Nelson
    Mike Evans
    Doug Baldwin
    Latavius Murray
    Demarco Murray
    Greg Olsen

Would you want to keep Jarvis Landry or Jordan Matthews over anyone above or keep the 7 I listed? There’s always the option of keeping 5 or 6 to get an earlier pick but my team I think is too stacked to do that, thoughts?

    Happy Saturday man! Thanks!
    Ryan

@ryanoger: Hey Ryan, I’d actually do Landry over Baldwin… but it’s close.

        @Jay:

Or should I lose DeMarco and keep both Jarvis and Baldwin and pick up a rookie RB or another remaining depending on who’s left?

          Jay says:

@ryanoger: I’m okay with that, but I’m also intrigued at what Murray can bring to the table this year. I’m getting the feeling you really like Baldwin, so I think it’s fine if you go with this scenario, but I think Landry is the best out of these three.

Jay, you must have heard the Romo news by now? In case you or anyone else hasn’t.. Here’s what Twitter has to say:

Last back tony Romo fracture was transverse process, not the actual vertebrae. This injury much more serious

Carlos Hyde suffered a concussion. I don’t want to cause any panic but it’s not his first one. I’m not sure how much this should affect his draft value but I’d probably try to avoid unless he falls a little bit.

If you were planning on drafting him, I’m no sure or not if you should change your plans. It’s a tough one.

    • RotoLance

@RotoLance: Correcting myself, the news item that I saw that I thought was a concussion for Hyde I didn’t read carefully enough.

Last year against the Steelers he was suspected of having a concussion but he immediately passed the test so I believe he didn’t have to enter the concussion protocol. He said he felt “dizzy” after a hit. But not technically concussion as defined by the concussion protocol testing procedure.

@RotoLance: And dammit I realized I didn’t make this very clear “If you were planning on drafting him, I’m no sure or not if you should change your plans. It’s a tough one.” I meant if you were planning on heavily targeting him. Of course he’s still worth drafting but do you still target him aggressively if those were your plans before this news?

@RotoLance: I agree, it certainly puts the stop to the great value you could have had… even with the risk, and the risk is showing now.

12 team keeper ppr league need to drop two!
    Antonio brown wr (1)
    Watkins wr (2)

    Olsen te (4)
    Bernard rb (5)
    Sims rb (6)
Kevin white wr(7) went upside with him and Coleman
    Coleman wr (8)
    Lat Murray rb (9) keeper

    Vereen rb (13)
Ellington wr (14) hurt his hamstring
Perriman wr (15) was thinking about keeper for next year
Jordan Howard rb (16) just because my brother took Langford lol

@Db: I think you drop Ellington and probably Howard. I understand the sentiment, but I think Vereen might have good depth value still, since it’s PPR.

Where would you rank fez now in your top 20 ranking for .5 ppr want to know for my draft tomorrow in case I pick later

      @Db: dez

        @Db: same question with Elliot

        • RotoLance

          RotoLance says:
          (link)

@Db: I’ll take a stab at this in case Jay doesn’t get here before your draft. I think Dez drops by a round or so in 12 team. So if he were early 2nd he’d be early 3rd, maybe late 2nd. It’s really subjective. I mean, how many (0.5 PPR) fantasy points do we think this will cost him? 20-30? I wasn’t a huge Dez fan to begin with.

Elliott is interesting to consider but ultimately I think it’s hard to argue for a big change one way or the other. He might carry the ball on a higher percentage of Dallas’ plays but they will probably have less total plays and score less because their offense is worse.

I do think they will run the ball a bit more now but it might benefit Morris more than Elliott. Although it doesn’t hurt Elliott and it doesn’t necessarily make Morris relevant other than a handcuff. They can only run the ball so much because they’ll surely get behind in some games because their D is not good.

@Db: I think Lance does a fine job of explaining it below. I’m with him… sorta. I think Dez drops, but not that much. Maybe a few spots… I’m still on the fence, but be sure to check first thing tomorrow morning when the rankings are updated.

        (link)

@Jay: cool, guessing only witten/zeke not affected too much by this. the kicker a little, prescott a LOT, dez a bit more than the kicker, romo a good amount of course.

        • Yr never too old for balloons says:
          (link)

@Yr never too old for balloons: t-will probably a lot, last time he had a backup QB (albeit those guys were probably worse than prescott) DAL barely got him the ball at all.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Yr never too old for balloons: I don’t think Zeke will be. Witten, probably not either, as TE’s mostly don’t see a drop in production when QBs switch because they are easy escape valves.

Need some sage trade advice after my auction draft.

    .5 PPR

    Would you:
    Get-
    Landry, Hurns and DeAndre Washington
    And give up:
    Keenan Allen and James White?

    Here’s my squad:

    Brees

    Latavius Murray (cuff)
    Gore
    Sproles
    Woodhead
    James White

    AJ Green
    ARob (cuff)
    Gordon
    Kevin white
    Moncrief
    Marvin Jones

    Ertz
    Rams D

@Johnny Hammersticks: Yeah, I actually like this trade for you. Gives a bit more depth for Gordon and Jones, who carry some risk. I’m not totally sold on James White either.
