August breeds injuries and surprising roster changes so I have to do a rankings update every now and again. I’ll keep it really, really short and let you get right into the updates, but before, I’ll let you know my biggest risers and fallers.

Risers: Saquon Barkley, Peyton Barber, Rob Kelley, Jordan Wilkins, Dez Bryant, Chris Carson, Anthony Miller, Kerryon Johnson, Chris Godwin.

Fallers: Ronald Jones II, Sony Michel, Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, Rashaad Penny, Trey Burton, Kenny Golladay.

Hey @MB, I recently had my draft in a 10-team, .5 PPR league:

    QB- Aaron Rodgers
    RB- Gurley
    RB- Mcaffery
    WR- Baldwin
    WR- A Robinson
    WR- R Woods
    TE- Njoku
    WR- S Watkins

    Bench:
    RB – C Carson
    RB – Duke Johnson
    RB – J Williams
    WR – M Lee
    WR – C Godwin
    WR – T Taylor
    QB – M Ryan

    K – Santos
    D- Carolina

    1. How did I do? 2. I had R Cobb but I dropped him for T Taylor, was that a bad decision? 3. Should I drop Carolina for Seattle? 4. Any adjustments I should make to my current roster?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions, but I really value your guys opinion. Thanks!

@bobbybouch11: hey Bobby! Thanks for the questions I’m happy to answer all of them.

      1. I think you did well, I rarely take QB early but I think you can get away with it in a 10 team league.
      2. No I’m fine with it, hard to convince me that Cobb will contribute a ton of value this year.
      3. Nah, I don’t want Seattle’s D/st.
      4. As of now, no. Feel free to send me waiver wire names that you might be interested in.

      • Bobby says:
        (link)

@Mb: Thanks for the feedback! Ben Watson and Eifert are available on the wire. Should I consider dropping any of my bench for one of them? Also James washington is available, but I’m not sure if it’s worth dropping any of my WRs for him. Maybe Tawan Taylor? I may just wait until week 2, I mean afterall the season didn’t even begin yet haha. Thanks again :)

        • MB

          MB says:
          (link)

@Bobby: no I think Njoku is going to be really solid. I’d drop Taylor for Washington

What is your take on Jeremy Hill ? I drafted last night and selected him late I am number 2 on the waiver priority list and just noticed Peyton Barber is available would you drop Hill to add Barber .5 PPR league ?

    Thanks

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@James: Barber > Hill for sure

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@James: my take on Hill is that he should make the team but Sony will be ready soon and Burkhead should also be ready for week one. Too hard to predict that jumbled mess with Belicheck at the helm

  3. James says:

Would you drop Jeremy Hill for Peyton Barber in .5 PPR league ?

  4. Brian says:

MB Would you drop Jeremy Hill to pick up Peyton Barber I have waiver claim 2 and hate to drop to the bottom so quickly but based on your ranking of Barber making me feel I should.

@Brian: Yeah Barber is a confirmed starter at this time

  5. Pat says:
    (link)

Just found out I got 10th pick in a 14 tm keeper league draft. Wondering how you’d attack the first two rounds.

My initial thought is taking the best available young rb – assuming that some combo of Hunt/Fournette/Gordon will fall to me. Then scoop up best available wr on the way back – an Adams/Green/Baldwin type.

Other option is taking a top wr – maybe odell/Julio then combining with whichever rb comes back around – Dalvin cook/freeman/mixon /mccaffrey

    • Pat says:
      (link)

@Pat: Could also always go RB/RB or WR/WR first two rounds too. Or throw a Gronk pick in there.

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@Pat: I’ve liked my teams a lot so far when I start RB/RB. I’d take Fournette in the first and either another RB or Adams/Baldwin.

      • Pat says:
        (link)

@MB: Thanks for the response! If going RB/RB with first two picks, who have been some of your most common targets for WR?

        • MB

          MB says:
          (link)

No Problem! Larry Fitzgerald, Doug Baldwin, Chris Hogan, Josh Gordon, Adam Thielen.

Later on: Marquise Goodwin, Robby Anderson, Chris Godwin

    Hi

I see you are still high on Baldwin. Are you not bumping him down at all even with the injury concerns?

And do you mind explaining your thought process for Baldwin vs Evans in a PPR league? One of my first two picks in a keeper league was going to come down to them so just interested in learning a little more insight.

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

Oh I’m definitely still high on Baldwin. All indications point to him being ready for the start of the season. I’m slightly concerned that he’s banged up already,?but at the same time, he is going to be a target monster in Seattle and hopefully will be a big part of the red zone plan as well.

Mike Evans could have a resurgence but he’s got a lot more competition for targets this season than he did two years ago. You can bank on him for 1,000 yards but it will be a dog fight in Tampa for red zone targets with so many capable weapons.

  9. James says:
    (link)

Whats your thoughts on Armani Cooper this season I feel like he could have a huge year under Gruden I mean the targets should definitely be there and the dude is super talented. I selected him in the 4th round starting with Melvin Gordon, McCaffery and Tyreek Hill so I am hoping he can fill the void of me not taking one of the top 5 WR’s.

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@James: it’s very possible that he has a bounce back season and life is great in Oakland, however that is not how I project it.

I don’t buy into the whole, “well somebody has to catch passes there” thought process that a lot of fantasy players do. I can’t think of the last time I couldn’t wait to draft the WR1 out of Buffalo, Carolina or Chicago in the past.

This is a new scheme in Oakland that I expect to be run-heavy. Cooper has Had a big problem with drops in the past and with Crabtree gone, he will draw the toughest CB matchup from opposing defenses most weeks.

Yo MB. 16 team ppr dynasty. i have 3 qbs and we only start one. trying to deal tyrod but so far only bite i have is for paul richardson who i sorta like even though he’s on a new team this year.

roster is qb-deshaun, wr-tyreek, julio, rb-leveon, james white, te-gronk, flex-DT, baldwin, bn-big ben, tyrod, geronimo, martavis, tymont, hyde, cja, james conner, ASJ

would you deal tyrod for richardson?

Also, can you rank these def for me or put them in tiers? looks like lac would be no 1. LAC, TEN, CHI, ATL, SF, NYG, CIN, OAK

    thanks MB!

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@brian: yes, Paul Richardson should see plenty of targets and you won’t find me arguing against WR depth. I’d pull the trigger.

    Hey MB,

Would like your opinion on this. Need to pick 1 more keeper. $200 auction league, half-point PPR. ESPN values below, compared to what I can keep for:

Leonard Fournette – $44 player, keep for $36

Keenan Allen – $45 player, keep for $21

Davante Adams – $38 player, keep for $24

    Thanks!

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@MattyM: I love two options and those are Leonard Fournette and Keenan Allen. Fournette is the safest keeper in my opinion but I believe that Keenan Allen has top 3 WR if not WR1 potential. I personally lean towards Allen.

Is Guice still a good pick late in a dynasty draft?

I have a keeper choice to make and forfeit the round I drafted the player in last year in this year’s draft. My choices are Kareem Hunt (3rd), Aaron Rodgers (4th) or Derrick Henry (13th). PPR, 6 points all TDs no matter position.

      Easily Kareem Hunt. Good luck!

Hey, in a 10 person. 2 QB league, I have the 9th pick. would you take a QB as one of my first two picks. was thinking of doing a RB as my first pick and a QB as my next. what you think?

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

Honestly it depends how many go before your pick. Who are you targeting? If you want an elite option like Cam I probably wouldn’t wait too long

      • Justin says:
        (link)

@MB: assuming cam or aaron rodgers are there at 9, i would probably like to grab one of them. would like to have atleast 1 high end QB since ill be starting 2 QBs each week. and then maybe land fournette as my 2nd pick.

        • MB

    Hey MB,

Did my first draft, it was kinda last minute so applied what info i could cram and from recollection from the past couple weeks of skimming articles. Had the 9th pick in a 14 team PPR league. I got a lot of the guys i targeted, but got sniped in the first and third rounds which put me on tilt a bit. Still happy with what i came away with. I know RoJo and Cobb arent too sexy right now, but ill hold onto them for now. Let me know what you think:

    QB Luck
RB Hunt (wanted Saquon but sniped)
    RB Royce
    WR AJ Green
WR JuJu (wanted McKinnon but sniped)
    TE Gesicki
    FLEX Burkhead
    BN RoJo
    BN Hines
    BN Meredith
    BN John Brown
    BN Cobb
    BN Darnold

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@ThE sHiT: not bad at all. I would’ve went Peyton Barber and Jordan Wilkins over RoJo and Hines though

      • ThE sHiT says:

@MB: Gotcha. I was going off of stuff i had read a couple weeks ago on those guys. Any glaring holes you see?

    QB — Brees
    RB — McKinnon
    RB — Kerryon
    RB — Barber
    WR — AB
    WR — Allen
    WR — Fitz

    hey MB!

I got a keeper question for you. 12 team ppr with 2 flex spots. I’ve got the 9th pick in a snake draft. I can either keep Hopkins in the 2nd round (16th pick), or keep one of Juju, Dion Lewis, Chris Hogan, Jamison Crowder in the the 16th round (last round of our draft).

I was leaning towards Juju as my keeper, but as the offseason progresses I’ve been tempted to keep Hopkins and hopefully get a stud RB with my 1st pick (though Gurley, OBJ, Zeke, Kamara, and Thomas will most likely be kept). Also, the Lewis hype is getting crazy and was wondering if maybe that would be an alternative option.

    What are your thoughts?

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@dt: I’m big on Hopkins this season. He’s still very young, has a stud quarterback throwing to him and will see a ton of targets yet again. I’d stick to your new plan of grabbing a top-tier running back in the first and keeping the sure thing in the 2nd

  25. Chris says:

Adrian Peterson, Jordan Wilkins or nick Chubb for the season?
