2024 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers – Pre-Season Risers and Fallers

  • Player: Malik Nabers
  • Team: New York Giants
  • Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR23

No WR has moved up ECR as quickly as camp darling Malik Nabers. Let me caveat that statement a little.  Nabers started higher than I thought he should be ranked.  My assertion has little to nothing to do with Nabers the player.  Rather, it has to do with the NYG O-line and QB play.  Nabers talent is unquestioned, and he has moved up my board faster than any other WR.  With that being said, I am still lower on him that most are at this point.  I recently moved Nabers to WR30 just below established veterans in better offenses (Diggs, Higgins, Pickens, Flowers).  Based on camp video and continued positive reports regarding both the O-line and Daniel Jones, I think Nabers could move up my list prior to Week 1, but for now, he rests at WR30.

  • Player: Cooper Kupp
  • Team: Los Angeles Rams
  • Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR20

This is going to either be a ton of fun for Kupp owners that drafted him early in the process or it will be another frustrating season of Kupp dents and dings limited his playing time.  What I am hearing during this period of ‘camp speak’ is that Kupp is all the way back.  Allow me to believe the media, once again going against my better judgement, and say I love Kupp as an early- to mid-round 3 WR to target.

  • Player: Jameson Williams
  • Team: Detroit Lions
  • Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR47

All reports out of Lions camp are glowing about the third year WR.  It appears as if the WR2 role in Detroit is his to lose and he is leaving nothing to doubt.  Drops and injuries have been issues for Williams to start his NFL career, but it appears both of those could be afterthoughts based on what he is doing in camp this summer.  There are a ton of mouths to feed in the Motor City (Amon-Ra, LaPorta, Gibbs, Montgomery), so temper your expectations early on as he gets comfortable with his role. I much prefer Williams in best ball because of the massive upside, big-play ability, but can see drafting him In redraft leagues as well.

  • Player: Puka Nacua
  • Team: Los Angeles Rams
  • Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR8

The early knee injury and missed time at camp is a concern.  I am not overreacting to the injury as much as hedging my bets by moving him down my list to WR11.  I recently saw him go in the middle of Round 3, two picks after Cooper Kupp.  ECR still shows him at WR8, and I feel much of the strength behind that number is based on early drafts.  We still do not know much more than we did 10+ days ago, so I think it best to be prudent with my early draft picks and only take Puka early if he slips to me where I simply cannot avoid the selection.  Be cautious and stay tuned for more information out of Rams camp.

  • Player: DeAndre Hopkins
  • Team: Tennessee Titans
  • Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR40

With the recent injury, I have dropped Nuk to WR48 which is more than a half of a round lower than current ECR.  When healthy, Hopkins is not this far down the list, but with his age and the early injury, he drops.  I have heard rumblings of Hopkins possibly only missing Week 1.  If that is the case, and we have that definitive news prior to your draft, then you may be able to land him earlier than where I currently have him ranked.  Also, if you are feeling froggy about Hopkins basically having two bye weeks (Week 1 due to injury), then the discounted draft day price may be enticing.  Keep listening/reading and hope we have some clear info prior to final drafts.

  • Player: Jordan Addison
  • Team: Minnesota Vikings
  • Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR43

Suspension?  No suspension?  We do not know, yet.  That is precisely why I have Addison two full rounds below ECR.  Perceived suspension is 3 or more games, meaning I am not taking on that kind of risk for a WR2 with either Sam Darnold or a rookie QB that was not exactly a passing machine in college.  I am happy to move Addison back up the list with positive news of a short or non-suspension.  For now, let someone else pay for the uncertainty.
