The TE 1 played like the TE 1. Whoda thunk? Can the 49ers slow him down? Can the team losing two other viable receivers from their offense do it?

Not quantity, definitely quality. 4 TE with 10+ targets and 3 with 9 receptions. If not epic, definitely epic-adjacent.

All stats are exclusive to usage from inside the 20-yard line. There were a lot of TE RZ opportunities in the Rams-49ers game, as George Kittle and Colby Parkinson were the only two TEs with more than one RZ reception for the week, and Luke Farrell and Davis Allen hauled in TDs as well.

This is not the be-all and end-all, but a piece of the puzzle. There are no guarantees. And if you see this and say, “Why don’t they do this more?” remember there are other players on the field on both sides of the football. And tight ends do a lot of blocking.

This table shows how many PPR points defenses give up to TEs, sorted by “FP/G.” The “TE Rank” column is the ranking high-to-low, and the “FP/G” is point per reception points per game (hereafter abbreviated to “PPR PPG”). I’ll use those below, and if you’re someone who enjoys pointing out mistakes, congratulations! You’re my new editor!

More tight end stuff:

  1. The Commanders are in free fall right now, losers of 5 straight, and the last 4 by 20+ points. TE Zach Ertz played > 67% of the snaps for the first time since Week 2, but he needs a TD to top 10 PPR points right now. Reasonable in a pinch, but tough if he’s a regular in lineups. But Ben Sinnott caught his 2nd career TD against the Lions in Week 10. I still like Sinnott as a Dynasty stash – he’s only 23 – but that’s all. The Commanders face Miami in Spain; the Dolphins allow the 5th most PPR PPG to TEs at 17.0.
  2. The Dolphins played their best game of the 2025 season in Week 10 against the Bills. The Dolphins took a page out of the Saints’ game plan from Week 4 and featured RB De’Von Achane heavily, and QB Tua Tagovailoa only threw 21 passes, 6 of those to Achane. TE Greg Dulcich was targeted 4 times, catching 1 for 22 yards. It’s a very deep league that I’m in if I’m considering Dulcich. The Commanders allow the 7th most PPR PPG to TEs at 15.7.
  3. The Panthers are one of those teams that will likely prove me wrong no matter what I say. I’m not even sure I can call Sunday’s loss to the Saints an upset. After taking the opening drive 67 yards in 12 plays with five 1st downs for a RB Rico Dowdle TD, they had 8 first downs, 108 yards of offense, and were scoreless the rest of the way. They haven’t scored more than 13 points since Week 6 despite winning 2 of 4. TE Ja’Tavion Sanders caught all 5 of his targets for 32 yards, but with upcoming games at the Falcons and 49ers, home for the Rams, and then at New Orleans, there may not be a lot of points on offense. The Falcons allow the 2nd fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 6.5.
  4. The Falcons went toe-to-toe with a good Colts team, but could not do anything with the first drive of overtime and ended up losing 25-31. TE Kyle Pitts had 5 targets, but only 2 receptions and 38 yards. With WRs Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and RB Bijan Robinson healthy, Pitts will likely be 3rd or 4th in the pecking order for targets. That’s okay in many games: QB Michael Penix has attempted 32+ passes in 5 of 8 games, but there’ll be games like Sunday’s for Pitts. The Panthers allow the 7th most PPR PPG to TEs at 15.8.
  5. Despite losing at home to the Patriots in Week 10, the Buccaneers maintained a two-game lead in the NFC South. Sounding like a broken record, with WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out, TE Cade Otton remains a solid play in fantasy, as evidenced by his 12/9/82/0 line. That’s likely close to his ceiling, given that QB Baker Mayfield has only thrown 40+ passes in a game three times this season, and Week 10 was the best result. Otton was not targeted in the RZ on Sunday, and he only has 1 RZ target for the season. The Bucs will face another test against an AFC East team in Buffalo on Sunday, and Buffalo has shown a weakness to the ground game. The Bills have allowed the fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 5.9.
  6. The Bills may have been showing effects of the physical costs of their win in Week 9 vs. the Chiefs. The Dolphins weren’t dominant, but Buffalo turned the ball over 3 times, and QB Josh Allen was sacked 3 times, running the total for the last 4 games to 12. Part of that was due to being forced to throw more than usual when the Dolphins kept the Bills off the board for the first 3 quarters. Josh Allen has only attempted 30+ passes three times in the season, and Week 10 was only the second time he’s attempted 40+. It also didn’t help that TE Dalton Kincaid was forced out of the game in the 3rd quarter with a hamstring injury that may sideline him again against the Bucs, and perhaps longer, as “Week-to-week” is among the dread phrases for fantasy. I suppose if I needed an Anytime TD, Dawson Knox or Jackson Hawes could be worth a dart, but in redraft, they’re looking up at “dicey.” The Buccaneers are allowing the 11th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 12.1.
  7. It’s hard not to see the Week 10 game as the main highlight of the Texans’ 2025 season as they erased a 29-10 deficit entering the 4th quarter with 26 unanswered points. QB Davis Mills and the defense stood out, but they were not alone. TE Dalton Schultz’s 1st TD of the season, from 7 yards out, closed the game to 24-29 and was part of an 11/7/53/1 line, good for TE 4 on the week, his highest finish of the season. Schultz has now finished TE 7 or higher in 3 of the last 4 weeks. Hard to believe he’s available in more than 1/2 of leagues per FantasyPros. The Texans are in Nashville for Week 11, and it’s looking like Mills could play again. The Titans are allowing the 10th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 12.0. The Texans won the first meeting 26-0 in Week 4 for their first win of the season: Schultz had a 6/5/30/0 line in that game.
  8. The Titans come out of their bye trying to break a four-game losing streak, but if the Wednesday practice participation report is any indication, they may still be missing some key players on defense. Not good news for a struggling offense against one of the NFL’s best defenses. TE Chig Okonkwo is currently TE 33 in PPR PPG at 6.3 and Gunnar Helm is TE 38 at 5.0. The Texans allow the 4th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 9.0.
  9. The Bears won their 6th game in the last 7 in Week 10, and are now 4-1 on the season in games decided by 7 points or fewer. TE Colston Loveland is developing into a solid option for fantasy, posting a 5/4/55/0 line against the Giants, which was good for TE 13 in PPR. Cole Kmet is battling a back injury, and WRs DJ Moore (shoulder) and Rome Odunze (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. The Bears are in Minnesota in Week 11. The Vikings allow the 11th most PPR PPG to TEs at 15.1.
  10. Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson is barely used in the passing game with QB J.J. McCarthy under center: in 4 games with McCarthy, Hockenson has a line of 12/8/46/1. Total. I figured Hock was in for a tough Week 10 game, but his highest finish in a week that McCarthy has played is TE 20; in the other 3 games Hock has been outside the top 30. This is disheartening since Hock has played at least 72% of the snaps in those games. I can’t even recommend him as a hold in redraft at this point. The Bears allow the 9th most PPR PPG to TEs at 15.4, but you’re braver than I am if you start a Vikings TE.
  11. Not reading too much into a game against the team allowing the 3rd fewest PPR PPG to TEs, but Packers TE Luke Musgrave was out-targeted 3-5 by WR Bo Melton against the Eagles. Musgrave was on the field for 76% of the snaps and was the clear pass-catching option at TE, but being sixth in targets is not going to afford many opportunities, and that was without WR Matthew Golden. If I spent significant FAAB or a high waiver claim acquiring him, I’m holding for now; the pecking order is not the most stable part of the passing offense for Green Bay. The Packers are at MetLife for Week 11, and the Giants allow the 13th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 12.6.
  12. The Giants brass may have been among the 20 people who saw my DWD hashtag on Twitter, saying I was “Done With Daboll” after yet another collapse in Week 10. But unlikely. Anyway, the message resonated wherever it came from, and Daboll was dismissed on Monday. Interim HC Mike Kafka inherits an offense in disarray, with QB Jaxson Dart being found to have a concussion after his fourth game with an evaluation. Rather than pivoting to Russell Wilson, the Giants have nothing to lose by starting Jameis Winston, who is oodles of fun for fantasy. What this means for the Giants’ TEs is unclear, but the Browns’ David Njoku had field days with Jameis in 2024. Theo Johnson had career highs against the Bears with 8 targets, 7 receptions, and 78 yards, good for TE 7 on the week. Daniel Bellinger chipped in a 2/1/8/0 line, but his TE 6 finish in Week 7 is likely his high watermark. The Packers allow the 12th most PPR PPG to TEs at 15.0.
  13. The Bengals got some good news returning from the bye, as they opened QB Joe Burrow’s 21-day practice window to return to the active roster from IR, but he does not seem likely to be activated earlier than Week 14. TE Mike Gesicki is still nowhere to be seen, so Noah Fant should continue as the main pass-catching TE. Fant has finished as PPR TE 10, TE 19, and TE 15 in the last three games with Joe Flacco as QB; certainly viable for fantasy. The Bengals are in Pittsburgh Sunday: the Steelers allow the 6th most PPR PPG to TEs at 16.9, and Fant’s TE 10 finish was against them in Week 7.
  14. The Steelers barely made a dent against a tough Chargers defense on Sunday night as they only managed a five-yard drive for a 59-yard field goal, after Chargers P JK Scott’s 34-yard punt to the Chargers’ 46, until the 4th quarter. By that time, they were behind 22-3. On a night QB Aaron Rodgers threw 28 targets, the TEs combined for a 6/5/52/0 line among Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, and Jonnu Smith. No thanks, but if you have one or more of them, the Bengals allow the most PPR PPG to TEs at 22.8, a full four points ahead of anyone else. All three of the above Steelers’ TEs had at least a TD, and Freiermuth had a 6/5/111/2 line when the teams played in Week 7.
  15. The Chargers’ offense wasn’t terribly more exciting than the Steelers’ as they used RB Kimani Vidal’s 25 carries to play keep-away. TE Oronde Gadsden had 6 targets, but those only produced 3 receptions for 13 yards. There was some concern as Gadsden dinged his knee, but he practiced fully on Wednesday. He should be good to go in Jacksonville. The Jaguars allow the 2nd most PPR PPG to TEs at 18.7, but that’s somewhat inflated by the 43+ point nuke dropped on them by Brock Bowers in Week 9.
  16. I refuse to dunk on the Jaguars after their gut-wrenching defeat in Houston. The good news is they started the 21-day practice window for TE Brenton Strange to return to the active roster from IR. With WR Travis Hunter gone for the season and Brian Thomas Jr. ailing with an ankle injury, the Jags can use another weapon in the passing game. Johnny Mundt, Hunter Long, and Quintin Morris are fine TEs, just not so much in the passing game. The Chargers are allowing the 6th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 10.0.
  17. Seattle had a similar start to the game against Arizona in Week 10 as they did in Week 9 at the Commanders, although this time the passing game had little to do with it. With Sam Darnold throwing 12 times for the game and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba getting half of those, the TEs got 2 targets. I won’t waste my time breaking those down, although Nick Kallerup did get his first NFL target, so welcome! Seattle has a critical matchup against the Rams in Inglewood, who allow the 13th most PPR PPG to TEs at 14.7.
  18. The Rams dominated the 49ers in their rematch of a bitter OT loss in Week 5. QB Matthew Stafford had his third consecutive game with at least 4 TD passes and now leads the NFL with 25 for the season. He has also not thrown an interception since Week 3. The four-headed TE had 14 targets, catching 11 for 114 yards and 2 TDs. Colby Parkinson led the way this time with a 5/4/41/1 line, but if you dip your toe in this pool, you’re braver than I am: I have a hard enough time picking between 2 choices correctly. The Seahawks are allowing the 4th most PPR PPG to TEs at 17.1.
  19. The 49ers have not been impregnable on defense, but the Rams made them look helpless. The offense was able to keep it close for a bit after falling behind 21-0, but the Rams scored on their first three 2nd half possessions to put the game away. It was a good game for the Niners’ TEs as George Kittle had his best game of the season, catching all 9 of his targets for 84 yards and a TD, and Luke Farrell caught his 2 targets for 15 yards and a TD. QB Brock Purdy is likely to return for the game in Glendale against the Cardinals, who are allowing the 16th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 13.9.
  20. The Cardinals had a tough time in Seattle in Week 10, in part because QB Jacoby Brissett lost two 1st half fumbles that were both returned for TDs by Seahawks DE DeMarcus Lawrence. It was another banner performance for TE Trey McBride, who caught 9 of 13 targets for 127 yards and a TD. It was McBride’s fifth career game with at least 120 yards. Elijah Higgins caught 2 of 3 targets for 19 yards. The Cards will be short-handed at WR as Marvin Harrison Jr. had an appendectomy this week, Zay Jones tore his Achilles and was placed on season-ending IR, and Simi Fehoko went on IR with a broken arm. The 49ers allow the 15th most PPR PPG to TEs at 14.3.
  21. The Ravens pulled away in the 2nd half against the Vikings and have now won three straight after starting 1-5 and are only one game behind the Steelers in the AFC North. This is now a three-headed TE monster that had a 12/6/54/1 line. Mark Andrews is the preferred RZ target. He and Isaiah Likely had 5 targets each, and Charlie Kolar led the TEs with 23 yards. I’m sure older fans will have their usual warm welcome for the Ravens on their return to Cleveland. After enduring a plethora of injuries in the first few weeks of the season, the defense has not surrendered 20 points since Week 5. The Browns’ tough defense was no match for the Ravens’ offense in Week 2 as QB Lamar Jackson had 4 passing TDs, but Likely was injured, Kolar wasn’t targeted, and Andrews caught 1 of 3 targets for 2 yards. The Week 11 version of the Browns is allowing the 9th fewest points to TEs at 11.8.
  22. Pity the Browns defense, in many weeks undone by the Browns’ offense, only to be undone Sunday by the Browns’ special teams against the Jets. After the Cleveland offense took its second possession 95 yards in 9 plays, culminating in a QB Dillon Gabriel 9-yard TD pass to TE David Njoku for a 7-0 lead, the kick team allowed the ensuing kickoff to be returned 99 yards for the tying TD. After the Browns’ offense went three and out on the next possession, the punt team allowed a 74-yard return for a TD and a 14-7 Jets lead despite New York having 2 yards of offense to that point. After that, the one big mistake they made on defense, allowing Jets RB Breece Hall to take a screen pass untouched 42 yards to the house on 2nd and 17 with 14:12 left in the game, gave the Jets the winning points. Njoku finished with a 2/2/21/1 line, and Harold Fannin had a 7/4/44/0 line. The Ravens allow the 12th fewest points to TEs at 12.3, but since Week 6, that number is only 8.8.
  23. The Chiefs return from the bye smarting after a tough loss in Buffalo in Week 9. TE Travis Kelce is currently TE 7 in PPR PPG at 12.8. They’ll head to Denver for the first of two meetings with the AFC West-leading Broncos. KC is unaccustomed to 3rd place at this time of year. The Broncos are allowing the 8th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 11.2.
  24. The Broncos are at least partly responsible for the two ugliest games of the 2025 season after the Week 10 abomination against the Raiders. The two teams combined for just over 400 yards of offense. Broncos TE Evan Engram was second in targets for the Broncos: that manifested to 2 receptions for 12 yards. Adam Trautman caught his lone target for 2 yards, which is the football equivalent of driving 8 MPH on a highway. No more! The Chiefs are allowing the 7th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 10.6. “This should be fun,” I said sarcastically.
  25. The Lions turned over play-calling duties to HC Dan Campbell on Sunday. It’s a little hard to tell how it will look in the longer term – I briefly pointed out the Commanders’ struggles above – but the early returns are encouraging. TE Sam LaPorta received 5 of QB Jared Goff’s 32 targets, catching them all for 53 yards. His longest play was 14 yards. So it was in the limbo between nice and meh. LaPorta suffered a back injury in the game, and is trending out for Week 11. I don’t recommend Brock Wright as a replacement. The Lions have a Sunday night game in Philadelphia with the Eagles, who are allowing the 3rd fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 7.7.
  26. The Eagles and Packers ended the week that started with a 10-7 game with a 10-7 game. Bastards. All things considered, TE Dallas Goedert getting 6 of QB Jalen Hurts’ 23 targets isn’t a bad deal, even if that only translated to a 4/46/0 line. Maybe the Lions will inspire the Eagles on offense. Detroit allows the 14th fewest PPR PPG at 13.3.
  27. The Cowboys return from their bye losers of 3 of their last 4. TE Jake Ferguson has had 2 good games and a clunker since WR CeeDee Lamb returned. As long as those don’t rotate, we may be okay for Week 10 in Las Vegas. The Raiders allow the 5th fewest PPR PPG to TEs at 9.2. Ruh roh.
  28. The less I say about the Raiders game in Denver, the better. As soon as I said TE Brock Bowers is fine, the Broncos hold him to a 3/1/31/0 line. Michael Mayer was only slightly better at 4/3/22/0. I’d like to say a visit from the Cowboys is what the Raiders need, but defending TEs is the one position in fantasy the Cowboys defend remotely well, allowing the 15th fewest PPR PPG at 13.6, so the jury’s out.
  29. I’ll forego saying much about the two teams on bye, other than Tyler Warren: very good and Juwan Johnson: above expectations. The Jets and Patriots are playing as I write this. I haven’t seen their stats, but I had Hunter Henry as a high TE2 this week and Mason Taylor around TE 20.

These rankings are for Week 11 games ONLY. If you want to speak about them, hit me up in the COMMENTS, which is also where I will post updates after Friday practice participation reports are finalized.

These rankings are for base PPR leagues: 1 point per reception, 1 point for 10 yards rushing/receiving, 6 points per touchdown, and -2 points per fumble lost. No premiums or bonuses.

I’ll give player, player’s team, opponent this week, home or road game (H/R), day of game, time of game (early (E), late (L), or night (N)), opponent’s 2025 rank vs. tight ends, current projected team total per ESPNBET, PPR points per game (PPG), PPR PPG scoring rank for the season (Sc Rk), and percent rostered per FantasyPros (Rost %).
