2024 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Sleepers
A “Sleeper”, for me, is a player ranked outside ECR Top 24 WRs that could emerge as both a weekly option for your starting lineup, and a possible season long difference maker.
- Player: Zay Flowers
- Team: Baltimore Ravens
- Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR25
Quick quiz: Name two WRs for the Ravens. I’ll wait. Mark Andrews, you say. Incorrect my friend. Andrews plays TE, but you knew that. Flowers is the only real, viable WR option for Lamar Jackson. Currently Flowers’ ADP is the beginning of WR Tier 3 and I will be ecstatic to land him as my WR3 in every league. He lines up all over the field, so he will not get bogged down by any specific defensive coverage. He is also lightning in a bottle as YAC is concerned. The Ravens will always lean run first, and the acquisition of Derrick Henry will only solidify that, but we all know to win in the NFL you will need to throw the ball. Hence, my fantasy love for Zay Flowers.

- Team: Cincinnati Bengals
- Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR28
Raise your hand if you want a big boy contract. Did anyone see what I saw, Tee Higgins was the first hand raised. Higgins went established himself as a potential WR diva this off-season demanding a new contract, threatening a hold-out, asking for a trade, etc., etc., etc. Well, Higgins got the tag instead. That tag comes with a one-year check for over $21M. That is a lot of coin for the WR2 on his own team. Higgins undoubtedly wants a longer contract and will use the tag as a prove-it year as he continues to lobby for said extension. I look for him to ball out as long as Joe Burrow stays healthy.
- Player: Chris Godwin
- Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR35
We would all love a return to 2019 Chris Godwin when the Buc posted career highs in yards (1,333) and TDs (9) while seeing his fourth highest target share (121). Since 2019, Gowin has averaged 82 catches, 1,064 yards, and 4 TDs. For a guy currently slated as a borderline WR3, I love the return on investment. I do not expect his ADP to go up between now and the start of the season simply because Godwin was unimpressive last year though his numbers were solid enough. The press goes to alpha Mike Evans as it should. What some drafters do not recognize is that Godwin was moved out of the slot, and that is when his numbers started to suffer. With news of him heading back to the primary slot receiver, I will draft Godwin all day as a WR4.
- Player: Diontae Johnson
- Team: Carolina Panthers
- Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR40
I will not claim to not have a soft spot in my rankings for Diontae Johnson. I hit on him early and often in drafts beginning his rookie campaign. The guy was a PPR machine and then *poof*, he started dropping passes and sulking. I was off the Diontae train last year. Though I like the move away from Pittsburgh’s atrocious QB play, I am not over the moon about his landing spot with the Panthers. Then I stopped and considered the fact there is not uncertainly in the QB room in Carolina; Bryce Young is that starter. He is not going to get yanked for a bad performance. The two have had an entire off-season to work together which bodes to positive outcomes for both. Sitting as a mid-round WR4, if Johnson can get back to being a target hog, then his PPR value will rocket back up the ranks. To vault back to WR2 status, he will need to earn YAC and TDs, but for now, I am good with drafting him in Rounds 7-9 as my WR4.
- Player: Mike Williams
- Team: New York Jets
- Current ECR Rank (as of this writing): WR53
When healthy, and that is not currently the case, Williams is a game changer that can take the top off the defense. I see only two possible scenarios for Williams with the Jets: (1) Either he or Rodgers gets injured, and the season is a bust or (2) They both stay healthy, and Williams balls out and finds himself in the Pro Bowl discussion with Top 24 WR end of season numbers. At his current discounted price and promise he will be ready to start the season, give me all the Mike Williams out there. Imagine snatching up Williams in the 10th or 11th round, confirming his health for a couple weeks then smashing him into your FLEX position for the remainder of the season. Also, if he is still slowed by the injury or just does not connect with Rodgers, the worst you have done is take a flier in the 10-11th round. Easy waiver wire replacement.
