I have read some posts over the past few weeks regarding Year 3 WRs experiencing breakouts.  I think the same can be said for some Year 2 WRs, as well, as I am not sure the trend is as prevalent as some writers might think.  For now, let’s fill up some of your day with my thoughts on both Year 2 and 3 potential breakouts and those WRs I am fine allowing someone else to draft.   While poking around the site (Home – Razzball Fantasy Football), feel free to register for #RazzBowl7 as the tournament is alive for entries as we speak.  Let’s make this RazzBowl the largest ever

We are also adding a Razzball G-League and a Razzball Listeners League for those folks that are long-time readers and followers that we often see comment on our articles and/or those that pop into our podcasts, especially the Sunday Morning Start-Sit show during the regular season.

Also, remember to check in with the @Razzball NFL team of writers as we host our You Tube podcasts where we chat all things off-season fantasy football, fantasy football draft season, and maybe weave in some music and pop culture chatter.  Join Sky @SkyGuasco, The Lineup Builder @Derek_Favret, Jeff @Jefferson__21, Dave @crewser128, Ben @FantasyFirstDwn and me, Matt @stiles08 on out various You Tube pods as we answer your questions thus keeping you informed for the 2025 draft.  Come for the analysis and stay for the laughs!

Year 2 Breakout WRs

  • Player: Marvin Harrison Jr
  • Team: Arizona Cardinals
  • Early ADP: WR17, Overall 37

The shine has worn off substantially for Maserati Marv.  There was chatter this time last year of Harrison Jr being a back end first round fantasy selection thus being the cornerstone of teams’ WR corps.  For those that overpaid, do not fret.  I think Harrison Jr can be the guy you want him to be…almost.  He is clearly first round NFL Draft talent.  I am not sure he is first round fantasy football talent…yet.  Can he be?  Absolutely, he can.  What does he need to enter the conversation?  He needs much improved offensive line play allowing Kyer Murray to throw the football.  I think WR17 is a little low while also feeling reasonable based on the disappointing rookie campaign stats.  I would not mind Harrison Jr and am happy to take the discount.  Far too often fantasy drafter subscribe to recency bias and I am happy to pounce on that discount for a talent like Harrison Jr.

  • Player: Rome Odunze
  • Team: Chicago Bears
  • Current (early) ADP: WR39, Overall 83

It is against my contract to write good things about Chicago Bears players, but here I am hyping up Rome Odunze.  I think he breaks out this season with Caleb Williams having a full season plus a full off-season to not be the Caleb Williams we witnessed in 2024.  No Keenan Allen means 100+ targets need to go to someone.  Why not the young sophomore Odunze?  At this steep discount in his early ADP, I am buying for sure.

  • Player: Ricky Pearsall
  • Team: San Francisco 49ers
  • Current (early) ADP: WR44, Overall 92

No Deebo.  Jauan Jennings being drafted higher.  A full, healthy off-season.  Reminder of what this kid did to end the 2024 season.  All things to consider when drafting in 2025.  I love this discount for Pearsall and will roster him everywhere I can.

  • Player: Malik Nabers / Brian Thomas Jr
  • Team: Giants / Jaguars
  • Current (early) ADP: No need to even write about these two studs.  First round talent will cost you first round capital.

Year 3 Breakout WRs

  • Player: Jaxon Smith-Ngijba
  • Team: Seattle Seahawks
  • Current (early) ADP: WR12, Overall 28

Might have broken out in Year 2.  Correction: Did break out in Year 2.  Now, he owns the skies in Seattle and should be Sam Darnold’s #1 target.  With DK gone, JSN will flourish in the WR1 role.  You will have to pay up to get the young WR.  There should be no discount on JSN in 2025 drafts.

  • Player: Rashee Rice
  • Team: Kansas City Chiefs
  • Current (early) ADP: WR20, Overall 42

Rice feels like he has been around longer than two seasons.  Alas, he has not.  Rice stands at the ready to retain the WR1 throne in KC.  Travis Kelce is a year older.  Teams will need to pay more attention to Xavier Worthy.  Both should pave the way for Rice to excel in 2025.  Health and legal issues are both things to consider when drafting Rice.  He comes with enough baggage to give you pause prior to clicking ‘Draft Now’.  Buyer beware.

  • Player: Zay Flowers
  • Team: Baltimore Ravens
  • Current (early) ADP: WR27, Overall 57

The current ADP for Flowers seems high.  Is he really awesome or is he just a guy?  With all the hype surrounding the Ravens offense and how good Lamar Jackson truly is, the stats show a decent PPR guy in Flowers with limited upside (4 TDs in 2024).  For a guy being drafted in the top three WR rounds, Flowers did not eclipse the 7-reception mark once in 2024 and only saw double digit targets four times, none after Week 8 while adding three games logging only one catch.  I much prefer third year names like Jordan Addison, Jayden Reed, Josh Downs, and Marvin Mims later in the draft.
