I’ll start by stealing from myself (MPD Robin Hood?): “If we’re lucky, nothing makes us as desperate as fantasy football.”
Again, we had a slight dip in points in NFL Week 5 vs. the same period of 2025:

While the per-game average was lower in Week 5 than in Week 4 2025, Week 5 2026 was higher than Week 4 2026.
I guess some things are worth repeating?

Legend: Rank is for points scored in the current week, Owner and Team refer to identifiers in NFFC, League is the RB8 league number the team is in, Draft Position is the spot the team drafted in, Chg is the number of points for the week, and RChg is the position the team moved up or down in the overall rankings for the tournament.
Less top-heavy this week as only 2 teams topped 200 points. Anyone familiar with FF content creation should recognize the name at the top. Andy has made me laugh as many times as any content creator has, thanks to his wit. Check out The Deep Shot. The top 3 from last week all show up here, proving their determination to take home the crown at the end of the tournament. I’d also like to shout out Lauren Joffe, who sent a verbal dance when I sent out invites to RB 7, and has cracked the top 5. She’ll absolutely deny it, but I read her posts, and I believe we share several mentalities.
Back to Andy, and his high-scoring Week 5 lineup:

Stafford, Jaylen Warren, and Christian Watson had great weeks, but Darius Cooper is the eye-catcher for me. Cooper arguably does more with less than any NFL player, with 4 TDs on 13 targets and 7 receptions for the season. That is a deep add.

“Vinegar Strokes.” You’d fit in well in one of my home leagues, Eric. We’re starting to see the magnitude of these calm down, and if players like Doug Alexander and Marc Nuzzo stay up in rarefied air, they won’t likely be on this list again, because there’s less room to rise. I’d also like to say hi to The Sports Affiliation’s Greg Kellogg: I hope you’re doing well enough to come back for RB 9.

Michal Cannizzo, John Vamos, and Nick Fox are telling all of us, “We’re here to stay.” Meanwhile, Kyle Patillo is in one of our Supporters Leagues, and Billy Mutch is doing our division proud. Andy Behrens and Pat Fizmaurice (of FantasyPros fame) made MAJOR moves to crash the party. And speaking of TSA, Greg’s partner Rick Brusuelas jumped 31 spots to number 19. Keep going, everyone! As far as the league distribution, we’ve gotten more selfish: eight divisions have 18 of the top 25 spots, and leagues 570 and 930 each have 3.

I said such nice things last week and probably jinxed us. Sorry guys! At least Rudy, Stiles, and BDon repped the brand well. And let’s welcome @MarkRingo to the team! Mark will be writing for us and joined us on the Start/Sit Show this past Sunday. We also have another new team member, but he and Sky will not give me anything to ID him, and I respect anonymity.
The first Week 6 game is in Denver on Thursday as the Seahawks face the Broncos. Both teams are coming off a bit of a rocky week, and will be playing on short rest.
Don’t forget waivers run on Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. Eastern. The Bengals, Lions, Dolphins, and Vikings are off in the first four-team bye week of the season, and Jacksonville hosts the Texans at 9:30 a.m. Eastern on Sunday, as the London Games shift to Wembley Stadium.
Good luck this week!
