After several weeks of boring stinkers on Thursday Night Football, we got our second week in a row with an exciting Thursday Night Football game! Just like last week, it didn’t look that way in the first half. The first half should have had more scoring, but we had a fumble, and interception and 2 turnovers on downs. The Chargers had 2 drives where they had 1st and goal from the KC 5-yard line and could not put points on the board. They still went into the half with a lead, but the score was only 14-10 and we were missing the fireworks we expected from 2 of the best teams in the AFC. The second half delivered though. We saw Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert go toe to toe with big plays and touchdown drives including an exciting back and forth 4th quarter. The Chiefs were able to pull off a huge divisional road win in overtime with a 34-28 final over the Chargers.

We finally got an exciting Thursday Night Football game, but it certainly didn’t look that way in the first half. In fact, the game started off so lop-sided that I’m sure people thought it was over and didn’t even stick around for the excitement. It was a tale of two halves as Minnesota dominated the first half and went into halftime with a 23-0 lead. In fact, they led 29-0 before Pittsburgh even got their first points on the board. But just like your Christmas decorations when you flip the switch, something clicked, and the Steelers just turned it on. They came all the way back and had a shot to tie the game from the Minnesota 12-yard line on the final play, but a beautiful pass that landed in the hands of Pat Freiermuth in the endzone was punched out by Harrison Smith to save the game. The Vikings were able to narrowly escape with a 36-28 victory over the Steelers.

On behalf of all of us at Razzball, let me start by wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully you enjoyed the day filled with family, food, and football. As it has been since 2006, we got 6 games on Thanksgiving including the traditional Cowboys and Lions games. The NFL laid these games out perfectly for us as we got a boring bread and butter appetizer game between Detroit and Chicago to kick off the day. After that, we were treated to the main course which was a Dallas and Las Vegas game that had an exciting second half and even went into overtime. The Thanksgiving slate finished with a sloppy pie a la mode game between Buffalo and New Orleans. Let’s recap the appetizer, main course, and dessert games.

Another snooze fest of a Thursday Night Football game in the books. The 2021 rematch of Super Bowl 51 did not have any of the excitement that the 2017 game had with this version of the Falcons unable to get anything going. There was no lead to blow since they couldn’t even put points on the board. The Patriots defense completely dominated this game and at the end of the night, the Patriots had 4 interceptions and walked away with a 25-0 shutout win.

Is it just me, or do these Thursday Night Football games get worse and worse every week? We didn’t expect there to be fireworks in this one, especially since Miami came into the game 2-7 and starting a backup quarterback against the 6-2 AFC North leading Ravens. This game was a defensive battle for three quarters with the most exciting play of the game being an offensive lineman touchdown that didn’t count. At the end of the night, the Dolphins surprised everybody by holding the Ravens in check and pulling out a 22-10 upset win.

You would think with 75 total points scored this was an exciting Thursday Night Football game, but it was not. The final score made the game look competitive, but this was all Colts all night. The Indianapolis running game ran wild against the Jets and, playing most of the game with a third string quarterback, there wasn’t much they could do to have any hope in this one. Coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss last week, the Colts used a visit from New York to get back on track and get their groove back with a 45-30 victory.

Back in the day, going all the way back to 2020, we used to get excited when we got to watch Patrick Mahomes and the explosive Kansas City Chiefs in primetime games. Unfortunately, the 2021 version of the Chiefs has struggled, and those struggles continued in this week’s Monday Night Football game. On the day after Halloween, we thought we would get a treat of a game, but it turns out, it was just a trick.

The story leading into this game was Green Bay being without their top wide receivers in Davante Adams and Allen Lazard who are both on the reserve/Covid list. The narrative was that there would be no way they could beat the undefeated Arizona Cardinals without their weapons. The moral of the story ended up being never count out Aaron Rodgers. Even without his best receiving weapons, Rodgers was able to battle the whole game, make the plays when he needed to, and pull out the upset victory for the Packers.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Let’s be honest, I don’t think anybody was expecting offensive fireworks in this week’s Thursday Night Football matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos. Leading up to the game, most of the conversation revolved around the players that weren’t playing rather than the ones who would be playing. Cleveland was coming into this one without their starting quarterback Baker Mayfield and both starting running backs in Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. In addition, both star wide receivers were questionable and up until gameday, Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was questionable as well. Many expected this game to be a grind-it-out low scoring game and that’s exactly what we got.
