At 44 years old, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is retired from professional boxing and Vince Carter is retired from professional basketball. Also 44 years old, John Cena and Brock Lesnar are no longer full-time professional wrestlers, making part time appearances. On the football field in this week’s Thursday Night Football game, we saw Tom Brady at 44 years old dueling it out with a quarterback who was born when Brady was in college. Brady won the battle against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles and is still out there performing at an elite level in the NFL. Arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady went out there on the national stage and methodically let the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their 5th win of the season.

Aliens, Ghosts, Mummies and a Rams Win Over the Seahawks

You could tell the Halloween spirit was in the air in our first Thursday Night Football game in October. We saw the Seattle Seahawks come out in their neon green uniforms, looking like a bunch of aliens to set the tone. Then, right on the opening kickoff, Tutu Atwell took the kick and made it about 10 yards before the ghost of Cortez Kennedy blindsided him causing him to hit the ground and fumble out of bounds with no other players around him. Before the game was over, both quarterbacks had bandages on their hands after having to mummy wrap their respective finger injuries. You knew something spooky was going on when we saw Geno Smith out there with his first real game action since 2017. We are definitely in the Halloween season!

Burrow, Bengals Beat Lawrence, Jaguars in Battle for the Jungle

Jaguars and Bengal Tigers are two of the most popular animals in the jungle because of their size and abilities. They are both known to be dangerous predators with fierce hunting skills and the ability to kill all sorts of prey. If a Bengal Tiger and a Jaguar were to hypothetically square off in a battle in the jungle, the Bengal would likely win that battle due to their size and weight advantage and stronger claws. The Jaguar does have good stamina and could escape the battle by climbing a tree or swimming away if they’re near water. We pretty much saw exactly this last night with the Cincinnati Bengals delivering some knockout blows in the second half and the Jacksonville Jaguars hopping in the water and swimming away in the 4th quarter.

Darnold Leads Panthers Win, but McCaffrey Loss Looms

The Carolina Panthers improved to 3-0 on Thursday Night, but they couldn’t celebrate the way they would have liked to. For the first time since the 2015 season where they went to the Super Bowl, the Panthers have won their first 3 games of the season. You would think this would be a joyous night of celebration in Carolina, but the big story was the loss of Christian McCaffrey early in the 2nd quarter with a hamstring injury. McCaffrey spent a lot of time in the medical tent and was ruled out almost immediately after coming up hobbled after his 7th carry of the night. Further evaluation on McCaffrey’s hamstring will determine the length of time he will miss, but I expect him to be out for several weeks. Daniel Jones Shines, but Giants Gift Washington Win

Poor Daniel Jones can’t catch a break. The Giants can’t even let the other team lose properly! On Thursday Night Football, with the world watching, the Giants quarterback rose to the occasion and played one of his best games that I can remember. The New York Giants had several opportunities to put the game away, but penalties, receiving blunders and an inexcusable special teams debacle handed the Washington Football Team the win in the closing seconds. Overall, it was a good game with 5 lead changes including a back-and-forth 4th quarter and a game winning field goal on the last play.

Brady vs Prescott Heavyweight Battle in Season Kickoff

There were some epic battles between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier back in the 1970s including the “Thrilla in Manilla” and “The Fight of the Century”. We had the Ali vs George Foreman “Rumble in the Jungle” and the Foreman vs Mike Tyson “Ear Biting” match. Iconic slugfests that will forever be remembered in boxing history. Well, football fans all over the world were treated to a different kind of heavyweight slugfest in last night’s kickoff to the 2021 NFL season.

The NFL schedule makers gave us all a treat by scheduling two of the most high-powered offenses in football in the Thursday Night Football season opener. The Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers got to kick us off by playing host to the Dallas Cowboys in a game that brought us all the jabs, crosses and uppercuts that we remember from those iconic heavyweight boxing matches. Coming into the game, we had a superstar showdown of 44 year old Tom Brady facing off against Dak Prescott who was 11 months removed from being carted off the field with a sideways ankle. The star power was abundant on both sides, and neither side disappointed in a game that hit 60 points and made a lot of fantasy football managers happy.

QB Pockets – Where to Draft Your Quarterback

It’s the holiday weekend and football season is right around the corner. Leagues everywhere are scrambling to set up their fantasy drafts before kickoff this week. Today’s article is going to help you prepare for your draft and help you plan when and how to draft your quarterbacks. The most common leagues are 10 or 12 team redraft leagues where you start 1 QB each week, so in those leagues, you want to have 2 starting quarterbacks when you walk out of the draft room. There are 32 teams in the NFL so you can do this with no problem, but you also don’t want to come out of your draft with Tyrod Taylor as your backup QB. What I’m going to break down for you here in this article is specifically where to target drafting your quarterbacks this year.

Guys like Christian McCaffrey, Dalvin Cook and Derrick Henry are top tier backs who carry the bulk of their backfield’s workload, but even Alvin Kamara, Nick Chubb and Ezekiel Elliot all have other backs who could be a thorn in their sides. After you get through the first few rounds in your draft, you land in that questionable territory at running back. This is the point where there are many backs who are going to be in a split backfield situation of some sort.
