The running back stash/wheel of death continues this week; I’m sensing a trend, maybe you’ve noticed? Early weeks, wide receivers were the dominant adds; now, its survival of the fittest running backs. So there are three wideouts I’d bid on this week and a bunch of RBs that may or may not help. Some should’ve been added prior weeks. There are even a couple of Tight Ends, which if you’ve been reading has been really tough to pin down which TE will hit each week.

A hand injury has taken Marlon Mack from us too soon and now we’re left to choose between three backups. Oh joy. It’s like this the rest of the way as I said last week; the big add will usually be injury-related so it was advisable to begin adding solid backups…but 0% owned Jonathan Williams? Did not seem him there. Brian Hill was in a similar position last week, cost a lot and then he gave us 15 carries for 30 yards. It happens and I’m not out on Hill yet. Same rule applies to JWill as Brian Hill last week; if you want him he’s going to cost you.

We’re approaching the end of worthwhile adds and into the adding good backups for the rest of the season. You usually don’t have to spend FAAB dollars on backups but you might this week in the case of Alex Mattison, who is continually proving he’s the best backup RB in the NFL (and if you’ve been reading weekly you would’ve added him weeks ago). From here on out the highest bids/added guys are going to be because of injury. So why not hedge those bets and load up your roster with those guys now as opposed to a fringe starter or a WR4 that might hit but probably won’t. By this point in the season you should’ve spent some FAAB money so we’re updating the amount we have at this point to $25; if you have more by all means add it to the dollar amounts listed here:

So I was out of town this past weekend and I was flying back Sunday in the late morning. As much as airports suck and flying in general can be a real drag, I’ve always enjoyed watching football while waiting for a flight. If I’m by myself I can enjoy my overpriced beer served by an antipathetic server while I overhear the most ridiculous conversations of the nearby tables. When I’m with a friend, it’s just like being at a real bar, where shit talking reigns and wildly outrageous proclamations are never verified via cellphone. Watching football is one of the only saving graces of airports, and I for one, am thankful for it.

I’m still holding onto Johnson, so to speak, since we spent a lot on him last week. Same goes for Edmonds (even with Ken Drake adding to the desert confusion) though it isn’t looking good in the near term. Fear not as better days lie ahead…however some of you can’t afford to wait yet still have FAAB dollars left to spend. Done with hedging, let’s get to spending! (By this point in the season you should’ve spent some FAAB money so we’re updating the amount we have at this point to $50; if you have more by all means add it to the dollar amounts listed here):

Remember BenJarvus Green-Ellis? Barely, right? At least the Law Firm nickname was choice. Do you also (not) recall he debuted more than a decade ago in 2008 and subsequently he was out of the league by 2013? Five year career for a running back sounds about right. So with that short time to make it, let’s just agree to never adversely judge a running back for trying to get paid, you know? Anyhoo, the pickings have become slim in Free Agents adds by this week; but unless this is your first year playing you were prepared for this scenario and spent most of your money already.

I am not going to be the umpteenth fantasy football blogger to use some combination of Lil Nas X, horses and Michael Gallup. So while he’s the dude in the picture and the title, I’m just not going to do it. Too easy. I can just imagine the king of titles, our Rudy Gamble, just shaking his head reading a title like “The Horses in the back are Gallup’ing all the way home” or Matte black hat wearing Cowboy Michael Gallup’ing into your lineups this weekend” or Lil Nas X or Michael Gallup, who’s got their horses in the back?” So instead let’s through it back to the original Galloping Ghost, Red Grange. What a badass nickname and take a look at the guy:

Of course Ronald Jones II is not rushing for 2,000 yards this season…but could he next season? Magic Eight Ball says ‘Not bloody likely’ (I have the British version). That’s a lot to put on a guy who looked like hot garbage (which smells way worse than cold garbage, hence its greater usage?) his rookie season, and now that he’s had 3 out 4 productive games this season, anything is possible. He’s the top add this week.

RJ2K would be based on CJ2K, or Chris Johnson 2,000 yards rushing, which seems like it happened a lifetime ago but was really only ten years ago. Furthermore, CJ2K was such a lazy nickname. Nothing is lamer than easy nicknames, like ARod and any variation on it. As sport consumers we should all demand better nicknames.

Another week, another group of hot Wide Receivers to add! Hold up you say, the top player in Fantasy went down for 4-8 weeks, so isn’t his backup the add of the week? Let me direct you to 2017, Week 6, where Wayne was the lede. That was two years ago! He did nothing back then to warrant the job, then the next season the Giants drafted Saquon Barkley, and Gallman was forgotten. He should continue to be; don’t waste your money even as a Saquon owner. Furthermore, Gallman with a rookie QB? No thanks (even though Jones did have a great game on Sunday).

So can the Chiefs cut child arm-breaker Tyreek Hill now? The irony of seeing Tyreek in a sling on the sidelines should not have been lost on any of us. Though I’m not as all in on DeMarcus Robinson as I was last week on Marquise Brown and Terry McLaughlin. Kelce is still the #1 receiver in KC, and with Mecole Hardman and Sammy Watkins also splitting targets I feel like this is a situation where week to week some WR is going to get big numbers, but it’s near impossible to decide who, and that only gets murkier when Tyreek returns (and if you have an impatient Hill owner in your league who needs help now, see if you can pry Hill from them). Feels like the Rams; must be nice for those two teams, must be nice.
