Fantasy Football Rankings: MB’s Week 4 Rankings

This season is flying by isn’t it? It seems like every season flies by for me lately. June-August creep by while we pound out preseason articles trying to find new angles to cover new players. Then the regular season hits and the regular routine seems to speed things up. Waivers, offer trades, turn down trades, lineups, lines ups again, tinker, tinker, watch football, and then we do it all again the next week. Whether you are 0-3 or 3-0, don’t forget to actually enjoy this little 16 week window that we get every year to play fantasy football. While fantasy baseball is a grind, fantasy football is here and gone in a flash. After cracking the top 25 last week in the FantasyPros accuracy contest, I landed at the 53rd spot this week. This puts me at 45th out of 138 rankers through 3 weeks. Here are my week 4 rankings!

Case Of The Deadskins

This figured to be a favorable matchup for the Chicago Bears on Monday night. Still, Washington had shown some fight through the first couple games of the season. As fantasy football enthusiasts, we can only hope for offensive production, even if the game on the field is less than ideal. The Bears can end up being playoff contenders in a fierce division, but who had the idea to give Washington a home game on Monday night when we already have to endure Booger McFarlane?

The Bears scored their first touchdown on a pick six. For one night at least, this defense was starting to look like the Bears defense from 2018 that had an insanely favorable turnover ratio. The defense spent the evening, or at least the first half, giving Mitch Trubisky the short fields that he had grown accustomed to last season. So how did the fantasy stats shake out? And were the Redskins able to salvage anything Monday night?

Dalvin Cooks Because His Cousins Can’t

There was a wide variety of projected outcomes for the early games on Sunday. Most of the games had a spread of less than a touchdown and then there were two games with home favorites of 20+ points. Nothing was really a surprise from the standpoint of the scoreboard, but there is always a lot of fantasy tidbits to break down. Going forward, I will be covering the early slate, while Donkey Teeth will be taking care of the later games. In this format, we both can focus on individual games instead of jumping around from player bullet point to player bullet point. We can start with one of the more exciting games for more than one position that took place in Minnesota.

NFL Week 3 Fantasy Football Sunday Primer

Welcome to the bulk of week 3! No need to panic if you are sitting at 0-2 and maybe looking at 0-3, get a hold of what a BOOF on twitter and he could choose you for next week’s Fantasy 911. No matter what your record is, I’m here to help you get the W this week. If you’re looking for some gambling picks, I have picks for you to check out. 

We have a couple of good games this Sunday including Lamar Jackson vs. Patrick Mahomes. Depending on the weather, we could see some lighting up of the scoreboard. The Rams and the Browns could be a pretty interesting way to close out the night as well. Of course, injuries are starting to become a factor early in the season, so let’s get to the latest news on those.

Last night was the yearly tradition of the two teams that nobody wants to see on Thursday night play against one another on Thursday night. The location? One of the premier hard drug abuse cities of the United States! Maybe I’ll just watch the Tulane and Houston game that Pat McAfee is announcing. Wait a minute.. that guy in the headband.. with the mustache. Is that Grey Albright? Now that baseball season is coming to a close it would make sense that Grey would finesse himself onto the Jaguars.

But it’s not Grey. It’s the man who is here to save the NFL. The man who works out in the locker room with nothing but a headband and a jock strap. And the man who’s going to make Nick Foles the two-time highest paid back up in the NFL. It’s Gardner Minshew.

Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings: MB’s Week 3 0.5 PPR Rankings

Tuesday was a good day! FantasyPros releases their weekly accuracy rankings on Tuesdays and this year those Tuesdays are a pretty good day for us. In week 2, our own Jay finished 2nd out of 130-some rankers and is now ranked 6th overall for the season. Jay has been doing this for years. He really has a knack for rankings on top of the “your mom” jokes. It also makes me feel great that such an accomplished fantasy football guru saw something in me and gave me a bigger role in this football section of the site that he put so much into building. Jay might not be around as much as he used to be, but his weekly rankings that post on Thursday are still some of the best that you can get. Hell, their probably the best that you can get for free.

Enough about Jay. I didn’t do too shabby myself! My rankings were the 23rd most accurate in week 2. I would obviously rather finish in the top 10 than 23rd, but hey! 23rd is way above average. Is Raheem a Mustart?

At this point, this is a yearly rant for me. Having 3 games in the late afternoon slot during a full slate in week 2 is just dumb. There are west coast teams that are traveling to the East coast that could benefit not having their internal clocks thrown off. Los Angeles lost to the Detroit Lions and I’m not totally convinced that they wouldn’t have played better if kick off was at 4:25 Eastern. There are plenty of statistics out there stating that West Coast teams don’t fare well in the 1:00 Eastern slot. San Francisco also played in Cincinnati and that could have been a 4:05 start time. If those two games were moved to the later afternoon slot, that would have been an 8/5 early to late split which is much more digestible for the football fan that wants to keep an eye on all of the games. The number of fans that want to watch more plays from all of the games grows every year as fantasy football grows.

NFL Week 2 Sunday Fantasy Football Primer

Thursday night proved that we can’t give up on players or teams after week 1. Mike Evans and Curtis Samuel didn’t have massive weeks but they gave us hope and sometimes that’s enough, ya know? Jameis Winston also looked somewhat sharp. Who knows if those spike weeks are coming for him and the Tampa Bay offense, but at least things were better than the week 1 game against San Francisco.

Week 2 features some good afternoon matchups in Denver, Los Angeles, and Oakland if the early slate doesn’t satisfy. Lets get to some injuries!

I’ve completely changed course on Jon Gruden this summer. I am %110 percent in on this guy and rooting for his success. Dealing with the egos of divas is part of the job description, but the Antonio Brown drama took that job description to a new level. And what did Gruden do? He handled everything like the a pro. It didn’t just start with Antonio, as soon as I saw the “Nightmares” speech, I was hooked on every word this guy says. Knock on wood if you’re with me. Gruden’s imperfections make him perfect. That’s what made it so fun to see the Raiders beat the Broncos into the ground on Monday night. Rooting for Gruden kept me up into early Tuesday morning and I couldn’t have cared less about my 5:30 a.m alarm. Well, in the interest of complete transparency, I was still trying to pull off a fantasy win against Emmanuel Sanders and ended up losing that match on the 1-yard touchdown catch in garbage time.

Good Browns And Bad Browns

There wasn’t much that the Cleveland Browns could do for your fantasy teams but we’ll get to that in a little bit. I’m talking about Marquise Brown and A.J. Brown, the pair of rookie wide receivers that played their way into triple digit receiving yards in week 1. A.J. Brown was probably the bigger surprise for the Tennessee Titans. For one, there wasn’t much buzz around him during the preseason. Also, nobody really believes in Marcus Mariota. A.J. Brown caught 3 of his for targets for 100 yards but wasn’t able to score a touchdown. HOLLYWOOD Marquise Brown did sneak through the secondary and score two touchdowns against the Dolphins. He caught 4 of his 5 targets for 147 yards.

Week 1 Fantasy Football Sunday Primer

None of it aged well. The AB roller coaster was up and down and all around over the past two days and Brown landed on his frostbitten feet in New England after skydiving off of a 50-story building without a parachute. For fantasy purposes, AB’s value stays about the same where he was drafted if it didn’t improve a little bit. I think that Gordon’s value dips and Edelman’s stays the same. 

Every Sunday, I will do an AMA for the comment section to help you out with setting your lineups and maybe some last minute pick ups. I will also include weather projections and injury updates and my updated weekly rankings.

More Than One Bear Down

Well that was… Something? Do we live in some sort of simulation where everything that we get excited for ends up being a disappointment? Yesterday was truly an exhausting day to be a fantasy football enthusiast and football fan in general. I’m used to bad Thursday night games to open up the season. It’s pretty much an expectation at this point. But when an unenthusiastic game is preceded by some tidbits of bad news it can put a dark cloud over things. At least the first full Sunday is only two days away!
