Have you ever had such a bad fantasy week that you’ve asked your wife to murder you in your sleep? That was me last night. Turns out that she was glad to oblige and wanted it in writing. So I guess it’s a blessing that I’m here today.

I was up 4 points in one league that I needed to make a move in. He had Evan Engram left and after being shut out for 3 and a half quarters, Engram beat me in one drive. In a league that a win would’ve put me in a good spot for a first round bye, I fell 5 Saquon Barkley points short of victory. The Giants had the ball at the two-yard line with over a minute to go. Let’s get to these rankings before I get upset all over again.

I’m bored with reviewing five or six games per week. I feel suffocated, you know? Why keep me tied down to just writing about half of Sunday’s games? It’s my Monday column, why not bring the realness. Like Marky Mark says in The Other Guys, “I’m a peacock, you gotta let me fly!” I want to go position by position and see how it flows.

So what are two fun categories to correctly identify each? Well, ‘Stars’ is easy. It’s clear and to the point. What could possibly categorize something so blind-siding and awful that it sucks the life right out of your fantasy team that stays with the astrology theme? There has to be something that’s, let’s say, related to the misery of being a Raiders fan. There literally can’t be anything worse. I’ve got it. Black holes. Now that we have that covered, let’s start with quarterbacks…

I feel really bad for Dez Bryant. It’s the only human reaction to have when somebody has something happen to them that derails a dream or destiny, I suppose. Another part of me hates this because I wanted to be right about him being a non-factor for the Saints. That’s obviously the least important part of this whole Dez Bryant roller coaster. I hope that you didn’t sell out for the dream of early 2010’s Dez Bryant, but if you did, let me help you out in the comment section.

Just four short weeks before the fantasy football playoffs. I don’t know about you guys, but it seems like I have a lot riding on this Thursday’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Carolina Panthers for this week’s results. This week is one thing, but what about the fantasy playoffs?

Is it too early to start thinking about the most important three week run of the fantasy season? Hell no! Be Bill Belicheck, not Jason Garrett. Before we get to the rankings for week 10, I’m going to point out some favorable playoff schedules that I have noticed so far. That way, you can prepare some sneaky trades before your deadline or go on a hunt in the waiver wire to see what you can get while others are living week to week trying to survive bye week hell…

It may not have been a huge week for wide receivers, but it was definitely a huge week for running backs. In the early games, we had a handful of running backs that were able to score twice. As I’m writing this very paragraph, Alvin Kamara scored his second touchdown of the game. As the weather gets colder in a large chunk of the country, we might see this more and more. The pass catching running back is so valuable, even in standard leagues. In a dynasty auction league, I got Christian McCaffery for dirt cheap just because it isn’t PPR. Granted, I’d appreciate the points for catches, but McCaffery is so dynamic that he can still win weeks for me. We have 5 games to get to this week and a lot to talk about.

The fantasy football playoffs are five weeks away for most leagues so it is crunch time for teams that are sitting right around .500 or below. When making trades, you’re taking bye weeks into consideration where you are lacking. If you play in a league with a cap on waiver wire transactions or faab , you are starting to be a little bit more conservative this time of year. Everything counts now. Every week is important in November.

Since it is a big news day, let’s fuse what would have been two posts into one. I’ll put my week 9 rankings at the bottom for your viewing pleasure. But, let’s talk about the trade deadline first. Things certainly heated up after lunch on the NFL trading circuit. We had a couple of major moves at the wide receiver position that has an impact on a lot of players. Demaryius Thomas was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Houston Texans and Golden Tate was traded from the Detroit Lions to the Philadelphia Eagles.

We have to keep in mind that players going to a new team in the middle of the season may not hit the ground running. Look at Josh Gordon so far this season with the Patriots. He’s productive, but he’s not the WR1 that he has the potential of being with the Patriots down the line.

Readers, I am a hot little potato this morning. I decided to dabble in a little offshore gambling this past weekend as I sometimes do. You know what? My day was going pretty well. The Panthers covered in a pretty worry-free affair. The Cardinals marched down and scored a game winning touchdown on the final drive. I’m sitting at 2-0 thinking that there is no way that I am getting to 3-0 because I laid 7.5 points and took the Rams. All of a sudden, the Packers fumble the kick off with two minutes to go in the fourth quarter. I have life! The Rams have the ball at the 20 and the best running back in football. The Packers best chance of getting the ball back is letting Gurley walk in the end zone and hope for a missed extra point.

The first two plays were dumb reverses and now all of a sudden, it is 3rd down with just under a minute to go. The Rams snap it and toss the ball to Todd Gurley with blockers ahead of him. Gurley busts through the first ten yards, the play is looking good. Gurley is outrunning everybody and has a clear path to the end zone that he makes 10 out of 10 times. He stops. Right at the damn 5 or so yard line. My heart sinks. It’s the smartest football play he could’ve made. But C’MON GURLEY! Pad those stats and pad my wallet in the process. Team players aren’t good for fantasy or gambling, folks. I’ll take my fury out on these game review takes.

Happy Halloween folks, can you guess who I am? If you guessed press conference Ryan Fitzpatrick you are absolutely correct. If you guessed low level Italian mobster who is a fan of lunch meats and cheeses that is also a good guess. It looks like a bunch of Jaguars players got arrested 12 hours before kickoff so start your Eagles! DeSean Jackson has also requested a trade so that is something to think about. He could see some extra love today from Jameis to boost his trade value. He has the option to get out of his contract at the end of the season so why not get as much as they can for him?

OPE! As we say here in the Midwest. I almost forgot to turn in my week 8 rankings for your Wednesday morning viewing pleasure. I found time in between dipping fried foods in buttermilk ranch and harvesting corn and soybeans to give you what I have for this week.

With the trade deadline coming up, weekly rankings could get rather interesting in the next couple of weeks. We already have Amari Cooper moving to Dallas from Oakland and that will be a wait and see kind of thing. At least he has a bye week to work with Prescott and learn the playbook. I view it right now as a pretty lateral move for fantasy football purposes. If the Jaguars want to become relevant again this season, don’t they need a quarterback upgrade? Is somebody willing to pay a hefty price for a Le’Veon Bell rental? We will find out after week 8. Here are this week’s rankings.

I have witnessed one of the worst overtime games that I have ever seen. There was an interception, a fumbled punt, and a coach that doesn’t know the overtime rules. Jameis Winston threw an interception in Tampa Bay territory leaving the Browns with only about 15 yards to gain to give them a shot at a game-winning field goal. Tampa Bay held strong on defense and forced a punt. Jameis Winston then puts together a terrible 3 and out. Tampa punts the ball and strips Jabrill Peppers leaving the Buccaneers with the ball right around mid field. Jameis is able to complete a pass to DeSean Jackson to get inside the 40 setting up a 59-yard field goal attempt from a kicker who previously missed an extra point and a 40 yard field goal to win the game in regulation. One would think the Buccaneers coaching staff would go for it on 4th and long because the chances of Catanzaro making this kick are slim to none. NO! KICK IT! They did… He made it… What is life? Let’s get to some individual player tidbits from that dumb game.

The big news this week was Carlos Hyde being traded to the Jaguars for a fifth round pick. Chances are that Nick Chubb was picked up immediately regardless of the format, but if you’re lucky, Duke Johnson Jr. might still be available. It sounds like Carlos Hyde won’t make his debut this week in a Jaguar’s uniform so T.J. Yeldon will be relevant for at least another week. With Marshawn Lynch being sidelined for the next month, Doug Martin is set to take over his touches. Consider this Doug Martin’s final chance to show that he can be a useful running back. We also have an early London game so make sure you have those line up decisions set on your Chargers and Titans players by 9:30 EST.
