Welcome back to the RazzBlitz Podcast! This week, Zach joins me to talk about the first week of the World Cup and how I am a terrible soccer gambler. Speaking of luck, we venture into the latest Andrew Luck news and figure out who we would want to roster from the Colts this season. We move onto the Brown’s offense and what to expect from Tyrod Taylor. For whatever reason, we ventured down the rabbit hole of the past 15 years of miserable Tampa Bay Buccaneers football.

There is no denying just how important how important the running back position is to fantasy football roster construction. Once you get past the first couple of rounds, the position becomes a cesspool of what ifs. If you’re in a 12 team league, current ADP data says that only eight picks in the first two rounds won’t be a running back. It’s more important than ever to make the right pick.

Just like with wide receivers, this is a pre-training camp evaluation so my opinion is subject to change going into August. But, as of now, I’m going to let you know what running backs that I don’t see myself drafting this season. When I’m drafting running back early, I’m targeting volume second only to skill. Dual-threat is also something that I look for too. I mostly play in PPR leagues. A lot of the time, the past performance and current off season moves at offensive line can also sway me.

Welcome to a new series that I am starting for our favorite site. I’m going to go through the wide receiver, quarterback, and running back positions and let you know the names that I don’t see myself drafting this year. This is just for me personally so it is certainly not the end-all-be-all. We are approaching June so it’s time for me to start thinking about picking my favorites and and who I will be avoiding at all costs.

The difficult part of this article will be that training camp has yet to start so a lot could change and I may end up contradicting myself down the line. But I am going to try and list the players that I am most certain that I will be avoiding. Most of this will be based on early adp and rankings from the big named sites. So far I have perused Mike Clay, Matthew Berry, and some of the combined FantasyPros rankings to compile my opinions. We’re going to dive into past statistics, current roster construction, among other things. The weather is heating up so let’s bring out the hot takes.

Some of you know how big of a Bill Simmons fan that I am. One of my best internet memories is when he included one of my questions in his mailbag when he still had the Grantland site. Well folks, I snagged my favorite football writer from his site; The Ringer’s own, Danny Kelly. We talked briefly about the Bryan Colangelo burner account news (a must read if you live under a rock). We also talked about real football, fantasy football, and Killing Eve. I had a fantastic time and hope you enjoy listening to it!

In the golden age of rookie production in the NFL, it’s only right that I give them their own article. We had two rookies finish in the top 10 in the 2017 season and neither of them were Christian McCaffery or Leonard Fournette. Kareem Hunt, who finished #9, made a late push in the 2017 fantasy draft season at the expense of Spencer Ware’s season ending injury. When it was all said and done, Hunt was going in the third and fourth round in a lot of leagues.

Zach joins me for a RazzBlitz episode that is the same way we started it, one on one. We talk about David Johnson’s 1,000/1,000 goal and how he compares to the rest of the elite options at running back. We talked about Rob Gronkowski vs. Travis Kelce and finished football talk by analyzing the Buccaneer’s wide receiver corps. The second half of the episode we talked about Zach’s trip to Rolling Loud hip hop festival.

Razzballers, the NFL draft that we have been talking extensively about has come and gone and now we can actually analyze the picks. Who better to have on to talk about WRs than Reception Perception creator, Matt Harmon? (Harmon’s dog even makes a special appearance!)

Side note: When my stupid mouth says St. Thomas, I mean St. Brown (ugh)

After Harmon finishes his visit with us, Reid and myself dive into our teams’ drafts (the Bucs and Bills if you’re new here). We also quickly touch on West World before Reid talked about the new Avengers film. Enjoy!

We’ve been exhaustively talking about the draft on the podcast every week since the Super Bowl ended. Reid has been kicking ass with periodic mock drafts that are full of great thought and Buffalo Bills’ trades. I wasn’t planning on putting out a mock draft. Instead, I was going to plugging away on post draft content next week (still am) once we know who is going where. Fantasy Pros is having a mock draft contest and I can never turn down a chance to compete in literally anything. I decided that I would share my first ever mock draft with you and we can talk about it in the comment section if you like. Wish me luck, I hate losing.
