The title was just the long way of saying: JOSH GORDON MUTHA EFFERS.

breakinggordon

If you were wondering who all 20 players are, I’ve actually seen the list and can report that those players are all Josh Gordon. So it’s that easy, right?

Not so fast…

gordonpart2Tell me more Mike! What does this all mean for everyone Josh Gordon?

gordonpart3

Well, there you have it folks. While details are still developing and nothing has been agreed to yet, it’s pretty safe to assume that this is good news… maybe.

“Player reps will spend the next 24 hours reviewing details on drug policy issues. If all goes well, vote in the next few days — before Sunday)… Every 2014 league year suspension will be reviewed, if deal is approved. Josh Gordon failed his drug test in 2013, so wait and see on him.” – Ian Rapoport.

He may still face some penalties (in terms of games suspended) for his outstanding DUI, and the time of this failed drug test would seem to complicate things, so while there is still more waiting to be done, I would personally bet Gordon will be playing in the NFL this season, something that seemed really bleak not so long ago.

I’m certain Gordon was added in all fantasy leagues before this news came out. But if not, please send me your login and password and I’ll take care of that for you real quickly.

I didn’t see that Gordon was still on the draft board in the 13th round and picked Wheaton instead of him.

Oh well, on my way to the nearest bridge…though I may have to wait my turn to jump off since I fully expect there to be a line full of other FFB players that skipped over him too.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Ron: yeah, I didn’t draft him anywhere. Too much risk. People who did got lucky. Nothing more, nothing less.

      • Ron says:
        (link)

@Jay: And sometimes that all you need in this game. I little luck can go a long way.

Hey Jay thanks for the insight… In a 10 team PPR league would u drop Bishop Sankey for Ahmad bradshaw? Also what’s the scoop on Bishop, you think he’ll be given the opportunity any time soon?

  3. Wacha Wacha says:

I got two for you Jay…
    1. Sio Moore or Dansby for IDP
    2. Which side of the trade do you like better Ertz and R Matthews or Ellington and K Wright (12 team standard league)
    Thanks!

  4. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

Would you take a gamble on him coming back and offer Hilton (or K.Wright) and Forsett for Gordon?

    0.5 PPR

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Wilsonian: That’s a tough one. I’d rather have Gordon, but for how long will we have him for? Will there be any rust? I’m not sure… I probably wouldn’t trade Hilton or Wright here.

  5. Ryno says:
    (link)

Have to drop one would you rather keep Ridley or B Pierce? Both don’t have much upside

Figure Sankey is a good hold for now upside

      @Ryno: Ridley.

I drafted him in 7 leagues where everyone in the draft room said “Gordon?! You know he’s suspended, right?” Oh, Josh Gordon? Thought this was my Fantasy NASCAR league, saw the J. Gordon, and assumed I was drafting JEFF Gordon. Seriously, though, was pretty excited to open up this article and see the potential great news.

Good afternoon Jay. Here’s hoping we get some solid news on when Gordon can play. 14 team non PPR. 6 pts per TD, 1 pt per 20 rush/rec yards. Fractional points count. I have AP, J. Bell and F. Jax (flex) going this week. Should I swap out Bell for Ingram due to matchup? Bell is @ Car. But I still don’t trust Ingram and the NO committee.

    Thanks for the response.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Charles: I still like Bell here.

  9. SMLV1 says:
    (link)

Jay, would you flat out drop Tate for West?

My bench – RB – Tate, Moreno, Sankey
    WR – Wright, Wayne, Gordon

    Starters are – Lacy, Stacy
WR – Nelson, A. Johnson, Cruz

    Standard redraft league

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: I’m okay with that. Wasn’t high on Tate to begin with, but you might be better off dropping Sankey right now.

  10. SMLV1 says:

Chris Long out 8-10 weeks. How big if a blow to STL Defense? We still rolling them out @TB? Or find a replacement?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: I still think the biggest problem with STL’s D will be the offense. The are still okayish, but not in the top-5 where I had them ranked this season. Just a really bad year for em so far.

  12. Clint says:
    (link)

I’m sorry. I get that weed isn’t that big of a deal but this is just horsesh*t. It’s like Charlie Manson getting sentenced to death and then somehow PRE-grandfathered (would that be grandchildren’d or something?) into a new law that shouldn’t apply to him to keep him alive & on the public dole for the next 80 years instead. Gordon was suspended under the previous rules and he should serve his time UNDER those rules.

How can people be so selectively outraged about things like Ray Rice & then cheer when Welker, Gordon, & crew all get passes for being similar f ups when the law’s re-written? I don’t care that domestic violence is rightly viewed as worse, you broke the law, you pay, you don’t get the law rewritten & then everyone cheers as you escape for the 20th time so they can have you on your fantasy teams while you get a slap on the wrist under the new regime. I heard the same hypocritical BS when the Williams wall got busted for PED’s years ago, then drug the process out for a year or two going from court to court and people cheered so they could keep the best team defense/ST’s for the season run. Same as in baseball when a new list of violators comes out there. On one hand, you want a law to bust guys on the spot based on public perception like Rice but then on the other hand you want a legal process of fairness to have time to work itself out for an idiot like Gordon; can’t have it both ways & then selectively cheer or vilify the NFL for it, period, so which is it? I hope this moron blows out his ACL the first week he plays.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Clint: My problem lies with the NFL not handling these issues properly in the first place. In every aspect, from Josh Gordon to Jim Irsay to Ray Rice, Roger Goodell has utterly failed, and it’s embarrassing to root for a sport that has such failures.

If you want to argue these points, I have no counter-argument at all. My issues are with the process itself, and it has totally and completely failed.

Any time I see the NFL say anything, this is my reaction…

    • southwick says:
      (link)

@Clint: Smoking Week is akin to Charles Manson murdering people or Ray Rice cold cocking a woman? Really? If they want to suspend him for the DUI thats fine, but having a trace of THC (well below what’s allowed in many other professional sports) might not warrant an entire year suspension, especially if its ratified that the amount he tested for was allowable under the new rules.

This isn’t a performance enhancing drug, it is a recreational drug (now legal in many states), that has 0 effect on the game of football.

Seriously..spousal abuse is equal to pot smoking, nice comparison. This posts screams of someone who didn’t get the guy on his ff team.

      • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
        (link)

@southwick: he meant it’s b.s. that they aren’t enforcing the rules in place. I would say that these guys are the modern gladiators, and no matter what level of pieces of shit they are in their private lives that isn’t our concern. Weed is simply NOT a performance enhancing drug (of course i would let them take as many drugs as they want, let the MF’ers mutate), so should never have been under the care of the NFL ever anyway to me. The same kinds of things that may make many of these guys (rage, anger issues etc) the best players, might often lead them to be horrible human trash off the football field. I wouldn’t want to be around these type people in my private life, nor do i care. His Manson metaphor clearly wasn’t comparing weed/beating people, but comparing letting people off of punishments when laws change and the hypocrisy in that.

      • Clint says:
        (link)

        @southwick:

You obviously paid no attention to the part where I said domestic violence is rightly held in worse regards than pot smoking? So, the whole “teach him a lesson regarding pot” was entirely unnecessary if you read my post.

When I compared it to Manson it had ZERO to do with the severity of the crime as I went into a LOT of detail in describing but the fact that a guy got busted for breaking the law, then the law changed, and he somehow got a reduced sentence under the NEW LAW. Exactly as Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey suggested, nothing more.

And I HAD Gordon on my team last year. I don’t care who gets him this year because I think his hype’s not going to match what he’s actually going to do in terms of numbers. I have a MAJOR problem with the idea that you can get busted breaking a law until some bureaucracy, whether it’s the convoluted, apologizing court system or a union bargaining chip, comes in to change things and that somehow made what you did fine. TOTAL BS whether that’s DUI’s, domestic violence, or other laws. You break them, you pay what the penalty is at THAT TIME, not what it’s changed to in 6 months. It demeans the rule of law.

0.5 ppr, 2RB/2WR/1W-R-T, because my RB2 is CJ2K I loaded up the bench with RBs–S-Jax (and Freeman), Hill, Bradshaw, Forsett. Only have 3WR on roster–Dez, Roddy, Benjamin. Drop any of my bench RB for Boykin, J. Brown or Hurns, or hold and wait until I have a need at WR?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: I would hold until you actually need a guy. I like all those RB’s right now. Out of that group, I think you have them in the right order.

  20. Pope says:
    (link)

Jay, searched for Gordon on my waiver wire for waaaayyyyy too long before I realized someone already grabbed him…

Anyway, a guy in my 12 team standard league is looking to dump a running back or two, he drafted eight of them and said take your pick. He primarily wants wide receiver(s) in return. I’d like to steal Le’Veon from him, do you see a package I could send him?
I’ve got Rivers, Murray, Mathews, D. Thomas, Cruz, Olsen, K. Wright, J. Bell, L. Miller, Rudolph, Hartline, Streater, Bradshaw, Britt

I’m thinking something with Cruz, but try to keep Wright as my WR2? I don’t know. Maybe it’s not worth the hassle. I’m a big fan of Bell and my Murray/Mathews combo worries me a bit

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Pope: Haha, I know that feeling.

Maybe Wright and Hartline? I’d try that. Don’t sell Cruz now, not enough value yet.

      • Pope says:

@Jay: Alright man, I’ll try it. I’m still banking on Cruz as a great WR2 to Demarius. If I can get Bell as my RB2/Flex I’d feel real good about my team. Thanks

also. i know josh gordon is a beast (own him in one league, trying to see if i can get him in another), but who’s to say he has an awesome year again? i feel like there’s so much hype because people are getting him for free (last round pick, off the waiver wire) its overshadowing the fact that there are no gurantees in life.

but i’ll admit. the upside is encouraging. and he has something to proove.
