The fantasy football playoffs are about to fire up next week, and as a dynasty manager, it’s time to start looking for buy-low trade candidates to get your rosters ready for a playoff run or begin a rebuild. This week on Dynasty Diehards, I’m joined by Dave Stewart to discuss dynasty trade targets for contenders and teams looking ahead to the 2024 fantasy football season.

Buy Low Trade Candidates

Zach Ertz (TE – ARI)

Veteran TE & current free agent Zach Ertz wouldn’t seem like someone you would want to target in dynasty fantasy football. However, the 33-year-old bookend has expressed interest in signing with a contender for the remainder of this season and could be an immediate impact player wherever he lands.

Despite getting hurt in Arizona this season, he showcased his continued versatility, taking 45% of his snaps (135/295) out of the slot. While that percentage is down from previous seasons, he showed he was still a viable and dangerous target wherever he was lined up.

As the fantasy football playoffs approach, Ertz could prove to be a reliable flex option with the added allure of boom potential. However, given his age and recent injury concerns, he is unlikely to be of value past this season. Acquiring Ertz is a strategic move for win-now teams looking for depth, and a points boost to get their team to the promised land.

Chase Brown (RB – CIN)

Rookie RB Chase Brown finally got an opportunity to show off in Week 13, logging a season-high 28 snaps behind a healthy Joe Mixon. Brown displayed remarkable efficiency despite sharing carries with Mixon, averaging 6.8 yards per carry compared to Mixon’s 3.6.

While Mixon handled the receiving work in the stunning Week 13 overtime win, Brown has demonstrated his pass-catching abilities in the past, hauling in 27 of 30 targets for 240 yards and three TDs last season at Illinois. With his superior efficiency, Brown now emerges as a cost-effective alternative to the aging Mixon. Opting for Brown could save money and free up resources to strengthen the offensive line, making him a strategic choice for the team’s future plans.

Right now, Brown’s value is sitting in the bottom tier of the fantasy RB collective. Given that Mixon is still under contract through 2024, Brown being anything more than a change-of-pace back before 2025 is a risky proposition. However, with the cheap price to get him stashed on your roster, it’s a risk worth taking.
