newton

In his last four games, Cam Newton has thrown 13 touchdown passes. To put that into perspective, on the season Matt Ryan has 17, Jay Cutler has 16, Alex Smith has 15 and Teddy Bridgewater has 9. Newton leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards (480) and rushing touchdown (7). To put that into perspective, only Devonta Freeman, Adrian Peterson, DeAngelo Williams and Jeremy Hill have more rushing TDs. The only player in fantasy football with more points than Newton is Tom Brady. With an ADP of about 89, and the 12th QB taken off the board this season, Cam is defying the laws of fantasy football motion. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Currently at 13-0, the Panthers are staring at an undefeated season. If I were a betting man, which I am, my money says they make it to 16-0. This week he gets the Giants. The Giants defense is allowing 314.8 yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game to opposing quarterbacks. I think a 4 touchdown game is not out of the question.

In his last four games, Russell Wilson has thrown 16 touchdown passes. To put that into perspective re-read the first couple of sentences in the previous paragraph. With 456 yards rushing he trails only Newton. And after Newton and Brady only Carson Palmer has more fantasy points than Wilson this season. His season average of 253 passing yards and 2 passing touchdowns per game makes him a weekly must start. But you already knew that. I wonder how many owners benched him after his seven week streak of just one touchdown pass.?

It’s playoff season and there’s something I need to vent about. The “Consolation” Bracket, perhaps more aptly named the “Losers” bracket. What is the dog gone damn purpose of this? If you didn’t make the playoffs your season should be OVER. Instead we have teams “competing” in the consolation rounds and while they’re at it, they are picking up and dropping players. These teams are out of contention yet they are able to interfere with actual playoff teams’ ability to pick up free agents. How the flock is the fair? Not only is it unfair, but it’s absolute horse shit. I could possibly understand if there was some penalty for losing the losers bracket and finishing dead last, but our league has no such rule. Or perhaps if it were a keeper league. But again, not the case. And here’s the kicker, when I mentioned it to the league more than half said teams should still be allowed to pickup and drop players even if they are out of contention. You know when I hear when I read those results, “I’m out of that league next year”. Shame on anyone that buys into that bullsh*t. There goes my personal league of 7 years with my buddies. Those of you interested in being in a new league I will be starting next year, hit me up.

Horseshit

Here are some players that I like this week:

Running Back:
Jeremy Hill – I like his matchup with the Niners. My numbers have them as the most friendly defense to opposing running backs when you factor in yards allowed and touchdowns scored.

Lamar Miller, Denard Robinson and Tim Hightower

Wide Receiver:
John Brown, Larry Fitzgerald, Jeremy Maclin, Kamar Aiken, DeAndre Hopkins, Golden Tate and Calvin Johnson

Tight End:
Eric Ebron, Richard Rodgers and Benjamin Watson

How many of you have seen a blueberry fart? If you have not, and you clicked the link to the left, you now have. My two year old daughter thinks it is hilarious. I think that is hilarious. Farts are funny and anyone that thinks otherwise is someone I’m not much interested in interacting with. Good luck in the playoffs!

Veni, vidi, vici…

Got some serious issues this week. I am in the playoffs in all three leagues I played in if I win this week I am in championships for some cash. I have running back dilemmas below are my backs separated into two groups these are NON PPR leagues.

    Team 1
Lacy, Gurley, Hightower, Robinson , Gio , James White and J. Bell ( I am seriously considering benching Gurley for many reasons #1 Tampa has a tough defensive front #2 stacked boxes #3 he recently came out of a slump with just 14 carries # 4 Why would the rams want to beat on their star player with no shot at playoffs and his knee is dinged up #5 its Thursday night football need I say more. I am thinking about going Lacy,Robinson and Hightower your thoughts ?

    Team 2
I need to start 3 of these guys Lacy, Martin, Robinson, Jeremy Hill, Hightower this is a little easier let me know if you agree I say Lacy, Martin and Robinson what would you do ?

Same team I have to decide between Cooks or Lockett . What would your choice be ?

Thanks and I really hope you can help me nail these decisions..

      @Jake:

Team 1: Lacy, Hightower and Robinson. Sitting Gurley is a gamble, but the numbers point to these three.

Team 2: Hill, Lacy and Robinson. I like Hill this week and expect him to get a TD

      Lockett over Cooks.

      Sorry for the delay…

  2. Grimuz says:

    I have 2 questions:

Stafford VS Saints or Alex Smith VS Ravens

(Pick 2) Forte VS Vikings / Bolden VS Titans / Bryce Brown VS Browns

Thanks, looking to recover from loosing Dalton, Stewart, Yeldon, Eifert, and leaving Ginn on my bench last week.

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Grimuz: Stafford. I think you have to go with Forte even though I’m not a fan of the matchup. I’d love to say Bolden, but I’m afraid to trust a Patriots RB. If Brown plays the majority of snaps, he might be the best bet as the Browns defense gives up 122 yards rushing per game…

  3. JBagKY says:
    (link)

I seem to ask this every week, but pick 2 to start: D Freeman, DeAngelo Williams, L Miller, or D Woodhead. Im leaning toward Miller and Williams, but that’s based on match up.

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@JBagKY: I rank them Miller, Freeman, Woodhead, Williams this week…

  4. theresaholeinmypocket. says:

were these rankings before the seattle RB news came out? fantasy world not responding to the Bryce brown news as much as I thought.. hes the only RB against Cleveland.

    • Eli Man Penguin Boy says:
      (link)

@theresaholeinmypocket.: c.michael added again. f-jax will probably get all 3rd down work. technically f-jax might get earlier down work too. this is why. b.brown literally comes in with no knowledge of playbook (other than since monday). he’s referring to Jaywrong’s rankings.

      • Eli Man Penguin Boy says:
        (link)

@Eli Man Penguin Boy: i’m not suggesting to not add him, in this time next week he could move up many many spots if he’s used often. SEA has done well with any RB they shove out there this year, including a non-drafted dude off the street in Rawls.

    couple of questions fine sir.

    1) which d/st if it projects to be a close match between my opponent: Steelers vs Denver, Tampa @ stl, or STL vs Tampa.

    2) same question as above, but what if I need the upside? change your decision?

    3) DMC or Bryce Brown

    4) who to flex. tim hightower, Sammy Watkins, martavis Bryant?

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

      @doordie…..doyouuuuu?:

      1) Steelers
      2) Steelers
      3) Brown, but mostly because my rankings have the Jets as the toughest against RB
      4) Either Hightower or Watkins. Let me think about this one a bit more

  6. Hans says:
    (link)

I have Deangelo, Buck Allen, Bryce Brown, Matt Jones and need to start two…crazy to be thinking Deangelo and Brown? I’m worried Baltimore will fall flat with no one on offense and Matt Jones seems to let me down every time I start him!

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Hans: Sadly, you don’t have many good options this week. I’d run Williams and Brown out there and hope for the best. No way I’m starting Jones. If you wanted to start Allen over Brown because of Brown’s uncertainty in Seattle, I could see it…

  7. Roll of SAGNOF, Hear my Cry says:
    (link)

I have one move left on the season, and open roster spot, and only Tyler Eifert to play at tight end.

Should I use my last move a) now on Zach Miller or b) wait til Sunday on Zach Miller

I’m in the semifinals so the extra move for next week could be huge if i win

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Roll of SAGNOF, Hear my Cry: With reports saying Eifert not likely to play, I’d want to make sure I had a backup ASAP in the playoffs. I grabbed Ebron the other day because I like his matchup…

  8. Clint says:
    (link)

So, I was checking the ‘Who do I start’ portion of fantasypros which includes Razzball’s picks for RB this week. Before I sorted for my ppr factor, it had David Johnson just ahead of Lamar Miller. AFTER I sorted for ppr, Lamar was squarely ahead of him by a few spots. Am I the only one that thinks this is bizarre? In a passing offense with no competition, the last few games have had Lamar getting barely any passes his way while Johnson’s gotten a steady diet most of the season before even becoming lead dog. Now I’m not sure who’s my RB1 this week.

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

      @Clint: I’m sticking with Lamar…

    • Crapshoot Kershaw says:
      (link)

@Clint: i’m not trusting Miller to get carries, as what is it, THREE different coaching regimes down there simply have no idea how to give RB consistent work. I don’t even own Miller this year anywhere (did for last 2 previous years in many spots though). Something is in that swamp water down there that makes coaches forget about rushing the football. In offseason we’ll see Miller go to some other team and “suddenly” “breakout” (as if he’s skills changed or something) on a different team next year.

      • malamoney

        malamoney says:
        (link)

@Crapshoot Kershaw: Good analysis, but I’m still starting Miller over Johnson…

  9. alegendlives says:

The legend lives on. should I drop Adrian Peterson for Christine Michael!?

    Seahawks signed RB Christine Michael.

The Redskins released Michael from their practice squad less than 24 hours ago. Bryce Brown is penciled in as the starter for Sunday’s game against Cleveland”

in all seriousness. does this take away start ability of a seahawks RB this week?

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@alegendlives: Yes, drop AP immediately. Do not pass go!

      I wouldn’t feel comfortable starting a Seahawks RB…

      • Crapshoot Kershaw says:
        (link)

@malamoney: i’d be careful saying stuff like that. Your lone used-to-be female writer ended up quitting after catching a bunch of shit from one or two douchebags after telling somebody (seemingly accidentally as well) to “drop Hyde” back in week 3 (preinjury).

I know you are kidding here of course.

        • malamoney

          malamoney says:
          (link)

@Crapshoot Kershaw: Do I look like a quitter? If anyone is confused enough to actually drop AP even if I was truly trying to convince them should not be playing fantasy football. As a matter of fact they should also send me an envelope of cash.

          Douchebags don’t bother me…

  10. Scooter G says:

Best add for these week? ( and possibly next)

B brown, C Michael, bolden, fozzy

Also which receiver is most stoppable from this list?

A Robinson, J Landry, a Cooper, Baldwin, edelmen

    Thanks

    • Scooter G says:
      (link)

      @Scooter G:

      Droppable I meant

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Scooter G: Brown seems to have the most upside. As for who’s the most droppable, that depends on whether or not Edelman plays again this fantasy season. I highly doubt we see him this weekend. That leaves just week 16, unless you are in a dumb league that plays into week 17. I am holding him just in case. Do you really have to drop off of them? If I had to pick, and you were looking to gamble on Edelman, then I’m leaning Cooper. He did however had a good game against SD whom he plays next week. Tough call…

if you hate the losers bracket and the teams in it’s ability to add players, and you’ve been in that league for 7 years, how did you just now find out half of the league supports doing this? Did you just start hating this idea? Something is unknown in this scenario.

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Eli Man Penguin Boy: Shockingly, this is the first year that anyone in the losers bracket has picked up a player. Perhaps there was one or two pickups in years past, but nothing of consequence and one of those might have happened in a year that I too was in the losers bracket and thus stopped paying attention. This year, however, two losers bracket teams have made a bunch of adds/drops that have affected the winners bracket…
