We have finally reached the end of the slow burn that was the 2021 NFL season, the longest in history, but I am stoked for the playoffs. With the regular season in the books, It’s an opportune time to finish up the top 40. I will be putting out player ranking by position in the weeks to come. Players ranked 26-40 offer a great collection of talent, and a few of these stars will reach the top 25 next season, so this is a good group to get to know.

Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s the holiday season, and it’s time to shake our bellies like bowls full of jelly — or like Booger McFarland trying to get down from his field analyst forklift. Sadly, much of the cheer has passed, and the vast majority of us currently find ourselves broke from the holiday expenditures and measurably fatter than we were one week ago. As you stroll through your local Fantasy Assets ‘R’ Us, you can’t help but notice that the shelves are barren — cleaned out by the festivities of the season. Luckily for you, all you can afford at this point are the misfits, those cast off by the harsh realities of our world. What’s left behind isn’t sexy, but there are some useful scraps scattered about if you look closely enough, which is precisely what you do, being the resourceful scoundrel that you are. 2021 may have been a difficult year, but that doesn’t mean 2022 needs to be. If you play in a dynasty fantasy football league, or are simply looking ahead for 2022 draft intel, it’s never a bad time to begin laying the groundwork for a successful 2022 — which you can kickstart by buying low on rookies who may be discounted heading into their sophomore seasons. What’s done may be done, but as they say, “there’s always tomorrow for dreams to come true.”

Week 10 of the NFL was another wild one. The Lions did not lose; the Cardinals, Rams, Raiders, Browns, and Falcons certainly did. Another top running back was injured. And parity reigns supreme, as at least 20 teams probably still feel like they have a chance at the playoffs. Let’s dissect the developments of Week 10 and how they affect our dynasty league waiver wire.

Here in the midwest, the first frosty mornings are now in the books. It is an ominous sign for midwesterners (like myself) that winter is right around the corner. Work needs to be done. Much like that fantasy league you are in. There is still time to turn things around in head-to-head games, but you will have to work at it. Always remember, you do not need a record better than the top team in your league, you merely need to sneak into those playoffs and push from there, so focus on the record of the team in 4th place. Everyone could use some weapons upgrades for the cold battles that lie ahead.

It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.

Week seven will likely be a wild one. Bye weeks begin in earnest, and of course, you have the pile of injuries that continues to stack up. It will be a “last man standing” situation this week. And you want to be Bruce Willis, not Tim Allen. By the way, what pretentious title for the sitcom “Last Man Standing”. It is no wonder that the show was canceled. I know the rest of us are just a bunch of vegan, chai-sipping wussies staring at our phones, but do you think you could outlast all of us? C’mon Tim, Tool Time is over. Don’t embarrass the good folks at Binder. And with that, now on to the list.

I often find myself excavating free agency for Wide Receivers to fill out the bottom of my dynasty roster. For what am I digging? Three characteristics: first speed, second opportunity, third situation. The most common characteristic among NFL WR is they are fast, so I start with speedy players. Opportunity is everything in the NFL. If you don’t get the ball, you can’t score points in fantasy football, so I track targets. The situation often correlates to success. When looking for WR consider the quarterback and scheme. I have a list of players here that meet the criteria:

The NFL standings are starting to shape out, and some teams and fans may already be looking ahead at the 2022 draft class. One way to view what player your team might take is to check out the odds on a sportsbook. That is right; many sportsbooks already have odds for the 2022 NFL Draft. Sports betting is becoming more and more available and just launched in Arizona. You can look for NFL Draft odds on tons of sportsbooks like BetMGM Arizona.

One of the most fun parts of fantasy football dynasty leagues is the need to look further into the future to identify the value that can help your team compete, not only now but in a couple of years as well. As such, I’m already beginning to analyze what should be a strong 2022 NFL draft class. 2022 is shaping up to be another solid year for wide receivers with some intriguing quarterbacks, running backs, and tight ends on their way to the NFL, as well. Let’s take a look at some of the best players from the 2022 class to keep an eye on.

Good dynasty football managers will tell you that a working knowledge of NFL runningback depth charts is essential. Many NFL teams like to stash one high potential player either on their practice squad, or 3rd on the depth chart. This player typically has a chance to be 3 down explosive runner if they can overcome the issues that have put them in the position to be buried on the depth chart. Some have significant fumbling problems, others cannot pick up a blitz, and another common dilemma is lack of maturity. I like to fill my roster with these players. I do not have to invest much to acquire them and they could pay huge dividends. If they do not work out, just drop them and pick up the next one. Here are a few that I am looking to acquire (or already have).

Fantasy football is in full swing. Through four weeks, there is a ton to talk about regarding the rise and fall of the value of each and every player. One way to take a look at a player’s value for any given week could be to check out the players’ odds on a sportsbook. Sports betting is starting to become widely available in the United States. For example, Connecticut sports betting is launching soon and and FanDuel Connecticut should be live in early October. You can utilize these sportsbooks to either wager on your favorite players or see how vegas views their value for any given week.

One of my favorite aspects is the stock market nature of buying low and selling high on different players. This is especially true for dynasty where teams have different priorities as far as competing and rebuilding goes. At any given point in time, there are many players who can be acquired for cheaper than they should be and provide excellent upside to your team. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite buy-low targets for dynasty fantasy football leagues.

Playing dynasty fantasy football can be difficult. The Managers are typically better than your average league. You’re dealing with a much deeper pool of players. The waiver wire offers few life preservers. Dynasty Managers must learn to make timely trades and know when to seize the moment. The moment to seize a future star Quarterback is upon you. Go make an offer for Trevor Lawrence.

I love to build a dynasty team around a Quarterback. In dynasty, you are typically acquiring that player for the length of their career. A Quarterback will likely have a much longer football career than a Runningback or Wide Receiver, so it only makes sense to invest in a good QB. Why the urgency? Because Trevor Lawrence is about to turn his season around.

As Tom Brady has taught us, quarterback is a position where measurable physical traits matter the least. Arm strength is nice, but ask Jamarcus Russell how much it helped him. Rushing ability is a plus but in most cases needs to be secondary to the arm. The most important thing is decision making and quick processing, which is pretty difficult to quantify on paper.
