Week 10 Byes: Chiefs, Dolphins, Eagles, Rams

We’re more than halfway through the fantasy season and just five weeks away from the fantasy playoffs! It’s time to buckle down and make some moves that will push you over the top. With four great fantasy-filled teams on bye this week (Chiefs, Dolphins, Eagles, Rams), it’s important we fill the gaps. Below are my Week 10 trade targets, both to trade for and trade away.

Trade For…

Quarterback: Joshua Dobbs

Quick, who is the 7th best QB in fantasy over the last two weeks? Yep, you guessed it… an aerospace engineer. Dobbs not only knows about space but has skyrocketed into fantasy relevance over the last month. Specifically, the last two weeks finishing QB7 and QB5. He now takes over a MIN team that just lost Kirk Cousins for the season but may get Justin Jefferson back soon (TBA). Dobbs faces NO this week which is the 10th toughest matchup for QBs, but then gets CHI and DEN, who are both a Top 7 matchup. He’s a fun story, but I’m not sure many managers are trusting him down the stretch or even needing him as byes fade away. If not on your waivers, send some low-ball offers for Dobbs. I’d rather have a borderline astronaut than Geno Smith, Russell Wilson or even Justin Fields if he returns.

Running Back: Tony Pollard

I seem to have a “gut call” each week. Some pan out, some don’t. This is mine this week. Pollard is… due. Prior to DAL’s bye in Week 7, Pollard was a smooth RB9 in PPR ahead of Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry, Kenneth Walker III, Joe Mixon and others. Since the bye (Weeks 8 and 9), Pollard is RB34 behind Darrynton Evans, Jerome Ford, Cam Akers, Chuba Hubbard and 29 others. That said, Pollard would have had a much nicer stat line last week had a touchdown not been called back by penalty. The main issue for Pollard is the fact that he hasn’t scored since Week 1 (!) and is only seeing 12 carries per game since the bye. That should change over the next two weeks when DAL faces NYG and CAR, who are both in the 6th best matchups for RBs. I don’t love his fantasy playoff schedule, but you have to make it there first. I’d try to move Raheem Mostert (read below), Rhomandre Stevenson, Gus Edwards and possibly even Bijan Robison to get Pollard.

Wide Receiver: DeVonta Smith

Smith played five games last year without Dallas Goedert in the lineup. In those games, he went 25/420/2 on 42 targets. Goedert is on IR for at least the next four weeks. Smith has scored in each of the last two weeks and has caught all 10 of his last 10 targets for 150/2 over the last two weeks. PHI is on bye this week, so you’ll have to eat that, but afterward, they get KC, SF, BUF and DAL again, who he just scored on for WR15 on the week. All of those games will be shootouts. I want pieces, and Smith might be the most attainable, “cheap,” and with the most upside.

Tight End: Jake Ferguson

Ferguson is TE12 on the season but TE3 over the last two weeks since DAL returned from their Week 7 bye. J-Fergy (… no? I like it.) has scored in back-to-back weeks and seems to be the only other option for Dak Prescott outside of Ceedee Lamb. DAL gets NYG, CAR and WAS for their next three games before SEA and PHI, who he just tore up for 7/91/1. Assuming he’s no longer on your waivers, go get Ferguson.

Trade Away…

Quarterback: Deshaun Watson

While I appreciate Watson finally deciding to play for us, I’m moving away from him immediately after a decent game. After a month off, he was QB7, tied with Baker Mayfield last week. He also finished QB5 Week 1 and QB10 Week 3, but all of those performances were at home in plus matchups. That won’t be the case over the next month. CLE goes to BAL, who just embarrassed SEA. Then they play PIT, who sacked Watson six times, landing him at QB27 in Week 2. After that, it’s off to DEN against an improving defense, then cross-country to LAR. I’d rather acquire Dobbs (read above), Sam Howell, Brock Purdy and Mayfield. If Watson finishes strong, I’ll be all in next season, but I’d prefer to sell high while I can.

Running Back: Raheem Mostert

Somehow my boy Heeeeeem is still RB2 in PPR overall behind CMC. However, since his 34-point performance in Week 6, Mostert is RB24, and Devon Achane is on his way back after this week’s bye for MIA. You may have to look at another running back on bye to make this move, but I’m good with D’Andre Swift, Jahmyr Gibbs or David Montgomery and Pacheco (plus a piece). Mostert should be viable while healthy the rest of the way, but come fantasy playoffs time, his schedule is gnarly facing TEN, NYJ, DAL and BAL in the championship. Move him while you can.

Wide Receiver: DK Metcalf

Let’s try the “honor system”. Before you read this paragraph, guess where Metcalf currently sits among WRs in PPR… hint: he’s behind Kendrick Bourne, Tutu Atwell, Romeo Doubs, Curtis Samuel, Jahan Dotson and Michael Thomas, to name a few. He’s an embarrassing WR46!!! Tyler Lockett is WR36 (also poor). Over the last three weeks, it’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba who leads the Seahawks wide receivers in PPR fantasy points with 41. Lockett has 36, and Metcalf has 18. Now, Metcalf did miss a game, but he still trails in PPR p/g. BAL has been beating up on everyone, but one reception isn’t anything to be excited about. If you can, I’d offload Metcalf for D. Smith (see above) and eat the bye week. If not, try for Ridley, London, Godwin or Flowers.

Tight End: Kyle Pitts

Do you still roster Kyle Pitts? Busted! Pitts is TE16 on the season in PPR. Jonnu Smith with TE11. Pitts has two games over 10 PPR points. Smith has four, including 21 last week. We all have the same fantasy… Pitts is who he’s supposed to be. The problem is Arthur Smith disagrees. If you still roster Pitts, it’s time to cut bait. Pitts has exactly five targets over the last three weeks each and hasn’t scored since Week 6. ATL travels across the country to ARI, who is surprisingly the 8th toughest matchup for TEs giving up only seven points per game to the position. We’ll try again next year.
