Dynasty Trade Chart: Post NFL Draft Fallout

The NFL Draft has come and gone. It’s over. Now we must wait another year for the best weekend of the year to be here once more. But let us not dwell on that but instead focus on what this draft has brought us: some great dynasty targets at all levels. Landing spots went about as well as they could go, unless you were Braelon Allen landing behind Breece Hall. What did he ever do to deserve that?! But I digress. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite landing spots, some of the least favorite landing spots, and discuss how they affected the trade chart in general.

Six Quarterbacks Make the List

Much like how impressive it was that there were so many quarterbacks that went off the board early in the real NFL Draft, there are quite a few worth taking in your rookie drafts, as well. Here’s the ranking order of the rookie quarterbacks: Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix (if I have to), and finally, with a surprise addition, is Spencer Rattler. I could write a full article on each of these quarterbacks, so let’s just get some of the quick hits in.

Caleb Williams is the number one prospect for a reason and the Bears have finally gotten their quarterback of the future from what it looks like. With the weapons that he has in Chicago, putting Williams at 73 Value Points was easy. Jayden Daniels is the next quarterback and while I didn’t love the landing spot on the Commanders, I love what Daniels is able to. This is why he ended up with 69 total Value Points on the Dynasty Trade Chart.

Drake Maye should have easily been the next quarterback off the board, but his landing spot in New England leaves a lot to be desired. McCarthy on the other hand had a great landing spot, but I’m not sure I believe in him yet. They’re interchangeable in the draft in my opinion, but Maye has the edge because of his ability. Bo Nix is the next one off the board according to ADP, but I find myself being increasingly intrigued by Spencer Rattler. I’ve been taking late flyers on him wherever I can.

Two Running Backs to Take

This off-season was filled with people describing how disappointed they were with this year’s draft class in terms of the running backs. There were only a few backs worth taking and what were the odds that they would land anywhere good? Well, two of them were considered solid running backs, and the beat out the odds for the landing spot: Jonathan Brooks and Trey Benson.

Jonathan Brooks had rumors swirling around him for weeks that he was going to the Dallas Cowboys but the Carolina Panthers swooped in and grabbed him. Was it as good of a landing spot as the Cowboys? No, not really. But as discussed in other articles, I’ve been impressed with what Carolina has at least attempted to do at shoring up the offensive line. Now it’s just a question of whether or not those fixes will work. If anyone can make the best of it, it’s Brooks, who is my RB1 in this rookie class and I have him sitting at 47 Value Points.

Trey Benson isn’t far behind him though, sitting at 46 Value Points himself. I really liked what I saw out of Benson coming out. Great top end speed, good burst, and shifty. Overall, a really good back. His landing spot has me even more intrigued though, as he is sitting behind the aging James Conner who isn’t necessarily a lock at the starting position. It most likely will go to Conner if we’re being honest, but if they make this a competition, I fully believe Benson can and will beat out Conner for touches. It’s not a question of if he’ll be the starter in Arizona, but when.

Is Xavier Worthy of Landing on the Chiefs?

Yeah, that’s right, I love a good pun. Oh, but is Xavier Worthy really going to be worth the first-round pick that the Chiefs spent on him? That’s not to mention the capitol they spent to move up to get the kid. That said, he is my WR4 after the big three. His ability to stretch the field is impressive, but his ability to get separation is being under sold. Worthy has shown he is an excellent route runner and I expect him to be more than a one-trick pony that runs really fast.

Andy Reid himself said that he sees Worthy as being similar to one of his past receiver, but probably not the first one everyone would think of: DeSean Jackson. If Worthy ends up being a portion of what Jackson was, then I’m happy I’ve already started picking him up everywhere I can in my rookie drafts. With all of this in mind, Worthy has already secured a solid spot in the Dynasty Trade Chart, coming in at 48 Value Points and is sitting at WR4 amongst the rookies. This puts him ahead of receivers such as Zay Flowers and Tee Higgins in the rankings, which I think is fair given Worthy is on a team where there is a vacuum at the WR1 position. Grab him where you can and be ready for some fireworks.
