The NFL regular season is underway!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

As Le’Veon Bell continues his holdout, B_Don and Donkey Teeth profile his temporary (or permanent??) replacement, James Conner. Find out when the fellas think Le’Veon is likely to return and what to expect from Jimmy C while Bell is away and beyond.

Then the guys take a closer look at the Tasmanian Devil, waiver darling Phillip Lindsay.  Is Lindsay a one hit wonder? Is he a PPR only option? Or could Uncle Phil be much, much more? B_Don and DT debate all of the above!

Finally, in the injuries and pickups segment discover which running backs, wide receivers and tight ends you should be targeting this week on the waiver wire. TJ Yeldon, James White, Austin Ekeler, Quincy Enunwa, Chris Godwin and Phillip Dorsett are just a few to the names discussed. Get all the sausage you can handle right here:

Have you guys heard the new Ditka show on baseball? Can you tell me who the guest was they had on? He sounded handsome.

@B_Don: You have to teach Phillip Lindsay of the advantages of the E over the A.

A couple of guys that somewhat underperformed; any reason to be concerned?
    Jamison Crowder & Peyton Barber

Love the thoughtful podcast. Any guests planned for the year?

    Thanks Guys!

@Nehocstu: I never really expected Barber to be an amazing fantasy asset. More of a workload based type of guy. I know RoJo had a poor preseason and was inactive in this game, but I believe he is the most talented back there. That being said, I wouldn’t worry about Barber just yet. Still got 19 carries and played 48 of the 65 offensive snaps.

I’m a little more concerned with Crowder. He does most of his work from the slow, but was 3rd on the team in snaps behind Doctson and P Rich. None of the Redskins WR had a particularly strong showing in this one so I’d probably give it another week, but I do think there are reasons to be concerned.

We had the great Rudy Gamble on last week. During the season, it is a little tougher to bring on guests as we want to get thru all our information and they usually have their own shows as well. I think we can probably try and fit a couple in though as we go. Maybe as a separate podcast from our standard format. Was there somebody in particular you were hoping to hear from here at Razzball or elsewhere?

        @B_Don:
I was thinking of Rudy; I did not catch him last week. Grey (Master Lothario) is too much the stoner for you two ;+)

Appreciate the view on Crowder; I figured the ‘Skins jumped out to a big lead and tried to run the clock out in the 2nd half. I’ll hold one more week.

Thanks again for the thoughtful comments. I love going to a site that none of my other league-mates listen to; so that I “know” something that they don’t. Didn’t mean that to be a backhanded compliment…

@Nehocstu: No problem. Happy to help. Keep listening to the podcasts. I’ll have at least 1 article every week and Donkey Teeth will have one at least every other week.

Go check out the Rudy podcast. Really good info about the projections, draft strategy, and a lot more. If you subscribe to the podcast on Itunes or wherever, they will usually get their before they get posted on the site.

@B_Don: grey’s said repeatedly that while years ago he was a stoner he now barely touches the stuff, and barely drinks as well. his book (1st book) does go into stories from his stoner days. he uses a fake identity, so has no reason at all to lie about this.

@A Wesley Snipes Life: i’m not attempting to prop up “straight edge life” here at all, just what’s true.

              @A Wesley Snipes Life:
I am a big fan of Grey… being a former stoner myself I hold no grudge or look down on his lifestyle. I’ll still light up whenever my kids bring some home. (it is legal in Mass now! Hooray.) Listening to him on his podcasts leaves no doubt he partakes…

His appearance on the podcast with B_Don & Donkey Teeth would be inconsistant with their “serious” discussion and his laughing cackle (again, no judgement, just my opinion/feeling when listening to him). I read and appreciate his baseball columns every day.

laughing, having interesting sense of humor isn’t proof of current drug usage. him and ralph talked about this fairly recently (july maybe) in a podcast.

    Hi B_Don,

In my 12 tm PPR League, Jamaal Williams was dropped this morning. I’ve been kind of patchworking my rbs since I kept Mckinnon the day before he got injured. How much FAAB out of a $88 ($100 total but I’ve spent $12) budget would you spend? Are you nervous to spend too much considering Aaron Jones comes off suspension next week?

My other RBs are Mixon, Burkhead, James White, Cohen, Kerryon Johnson, and Buck Allen

@prey879: It’s a bit of a drop off from Mixon to your next. Tough losing Mckinnon before the season even got underway. Out of $88, I think I’d probably be willing to spend 8-10 on J Will. The return of A Jones does loom and a timeshare of the Packers RB position has not been overly productive in the past, but they do typically land on one as more of the bell cow so I think it’s still worth a gamble to see if you can land J Will and hope he becomes the guy.

Last year I thought Jones was the better between the tackles RB, but J Will was the more versatile of the 2.

12 team .2 PPR (yeah i know, i joined it later), so pretty much a standard. deep rosters, but position maximums. 6 RB, 6 WR, 3 QB, 2 K, 2 DEF and 4 each of the IDP spots. could have 3 kickers as well but other than autodrafters and guys that nearly never make the playoffs (huh, correlation here maybe?) nobody tends to do that. we keep 6 a year at no escalation.
    QB: (1) wentz, keenum, mariota
    RB: (2) mccoy (K, probably not again though),howard (K), drake (K), CJA, RJ2, michel
WR (2) julio (K), JJSS (probably a keeper going forward), jeffery (K), funchess, r.anderson, stills
TE (1) ertz (K), howard, watson
    2 flexes (R/W/T)
    K (1) sturgis
    team D (1) LAC, KC
LB (2) wagner, olgetree, jack, barron
    DB (2) r.jones, amos, swearinger
    DL (2) clowney, d.lawrence
    1 IDP flex (thus the 4 LB’s)

    1. which of RJ2/CJA is dropped first for lindsay if i can get him?
    2. other than lindsay drop either for any of: richard, ware, murphy (probably a no here)
    3. drop KC for any of: SEA, NYJ, MIA, SF?

    • B_Don

      B_Don says:

@A Wesley Snipes Life: Given the keeper format, I think it’s CJA for me. I do think CJA probably has more immediate value, but I like the tape on RoJo and I believe eventually the talent will win out in TB.

      2. No to all of these.

      3. I’d drop them for Seattle this week.

  5. Stupid Sexy Glanders says:

14 team PPR. now with this:
QB luck (bye week 9), trubisky
    RB (2) burkhead/crowell/mixton/morris/montgomery
WR (3) AB/baldwin (soon to be IR-able, can add another player then)/goodwin/a.wilson/beasley/richardson
    TE (1) doyle
    1 flex
    IR jeffery (2 slots)
    1. drop trubisky for any of these (week 9 matchups shown):
trubisky @ BUF (so a very good one)
    tygod vs KC
winston @ CAR (if he’s playing)
    tannehill vs NYJ
    wacco for flacco vs PIT

    2. when baldwin gets IR-able this week add a 2nd TE or one of these:
TE: jonnu, mcdonald (seems healthy now, was the favorite over james for usage before hurt), willson
WR/RB: pettis, mart bryant, gore, hines, richard.
