Ezekiel Elliott owners are still shaking off their own CTE issues from this week’s shocking yet not so shocking (which makes this mildly shocking I guess?) news that the Fifth Circuit Court upheld Elliott’s six-game suspension. I hadn’t heard screams that loud and high-pitched since David Johnson was put on the IR. While Matt did a fantastic job covering the breaking Zeke news this week, I wanted to make sure and shed some light on who it actually is that’s playing with all of our collective livers…

The Fifth Circuit isn’t just a very conservative court — 10 of its 15 active judges are Republican appointees — it also includes some of the most unapologetic and ideological conservative judges in the country. Five Fifth Circuit judges joined an opinion saying that a man could be executed even though his lawyer slept through much of his trial. The court once sanctioned a high school cheerleader after she sued the school that told her to cheer for her alleged rapist. Its former chief judge was recently under investigation for allegedly claiming that African Americans and Hispanics are predisposed to violent crime. [Source.]

So yeah, this doesn’t really count as political content, simply because after reading that paragraph, I don’t really care that they’re conservatives in this context, only that they’re spiteful idiots. It’s like probably not even in the top-1000 decisions that this circuit has made out of Jerkdom. Which is either a kingdom full of jerks or beef jerky. IT CAN’T BE BOTH PEOPLE. Regardless, the NFLPA will ask for a full panel rehearing of the case through the court’s appeals process, which means Zeke plays for now. Next week?

Hold on, I think I hear some more screaming…

Can anyone talk me off this ledge. I’m down Diggs and D.Baldwin this week and I’m contemplating crazy things like starting Adam Humphries over Martavis after Big Ben talked about Martavis getting a break this week.
Also wondering if I should roll the dice on Marlon Mack over Duke Johnson. Just thinking Duke can’t keep getting lucky last minute TDs

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@MrMojoRisin: It’s not a ledge where you’re alone. I have Bryant, but they’re close enough. And I’m doing Duke there.

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

@Jay: here’s Ben’s full quote that people have been freaking out over. Ben was asked how Eli Rogers will be incorporated into a struggling offense: “I think he’ll be on the field this Sunday. I think you know, it is obviously the coach’s call and things like that, but I think he just wanted to give JuJu some time and see what he can do,” Roethlisberger said (via Behind the Steel Curtain). “I think we’ll see more of Eli this week. … I think we’ll see him on the field with JuJu. Maybe put JuJu outside and give Martavis [Bryant] a break.”

Ben wasn’t saying Martavis will be 100% given a break

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@William Hung: yeah, seems more like mixing up everyone’s snap count for the sake of playcalling. I wouldn’t worry.

  4. Jason says:

@Wide Right: biggest upside is Mack, but awfully risky.

  7. Cheese says:

      Mb says:

  8. Steve Stevenson says:
    (link)

ROS outlook for Bridgewater? In a superflex where I have Hogan as my QB2 until (unless?) Luck recovers I’m thinking of taking a flier on Teddy but would have to drop E. McGuire to do it this week.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: yeah, the superflex makes this an okay thing.

  9. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

    12 team PPR have this:
    QB winston/ginger
    RB (2) howard/hunt/forte/vereen/riddick/darkwa
WR (20 DT/fitz/fuller/green/locket (10 return yards per point)
    1 flex

    1. drop darkwa for collins?
    2. drop ginger (other backup QB are: hogan/semian and worse) for backup TE in kroft, doyle, olsen (no IR spot though), griffin?

  10. William Hung says:
    (link)

@Jay – Maclin is officially out. How much of an upgrade is this to Wallace? I currently have him in my FLEX.

Also rolling out these WRs in my .5 PPR league – Amari Cooper, Ricardo Louis, and Jamison Crowder

Leaving Martavis on my bench. Unbreakable MB has convinced me to roll Louis today – someone at Razzball will be riding high tomorrow – either you and Zach or MB for this call

    • MB

      Mb says:
      (link)

@William Hung: I only have Louis at 33 lol. But yeah I hope he does well with Hogan throwing him the ball

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

@Mb: you downgraded Louis from 28?!?!?!?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@William Hung: yeah, I’m fine with Wallace there. Haha, Matt has a good pulse on the Bucs, I’d listen to him there.

  11. No Pepper says:
    (link)

Thanks for all your work Jay!
Would you start Perine over Coleman or Crowell?

    • No Pepper says:
      (link)

      @No Pepper: standard PPR.

  12. Stevie says:
    (link)

Would you start Montgomery over A. Jones now that he’s active? Or both? A. Jones could be a flex play, right now I have Will fuller.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Stevie: I’m still okay starting Jones.

  13. Juan Gonzales says:
    (link)

The Daily Kos is the “source” for your rant about the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals? LOL!!!
What, you couldn’t find a quote from Pravda???

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Juan Gonzales: I mean, the actual shit actions they’ve taken are sourced too. Just because you don’t like the source of the overarching blurb doesn’t give you cover to be an idiot.

      • Juan Gonzales says:
        (link)

@Jay: Oh I’M the idiot? YOU don’t even understand the legal basis for their decision, which was 100% spot on based on the law. Stick to your questionable expertise on sports and leave the Snowflake pontificating to others who are better equipped.

  14. Ron Weasley says:
    (link)

I’m a big a underdog today. Who has a better Chance of having a great game ? Asj or reed ? Ppr league

    Thanks

  15. Toughdrops says:

This keeps seeming closer than it appears. Stafford @ NO or [email protected]? Thx

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Toughdrops: leaning Stafford there, but it’s close.

  16. Allan says:
    (link)

Got Amari Cooper, Cooper Kupp, Jaron Brown, Aaron Jones, and Tarik Cohen. Need a WR and a flex in a ppr. Thanks.

    • Jay

      @Allan: Jones and Amari.

  17. Waterboy says:
    (link)

Morning jay! It’s my bday but I’ll need a ton of good vibes sent my way I’m facing the best team in the league.

How do you like Marlon Mack? Do you see as the season progresses they may start easing up on gore? Gores YPC hasn’t been hot I liked him in college & thoughts of WR Roger Lewis, who else will Eli throw to? Lol

Do you like hogan & tyreek hill today ? Pitt has been good vs WRs I have fuller on bench or thinking of adding either Taylor Gabriel, Roger Lewis, mike Williams who will debut today, Tyrell Williams , Bennie fowler

    Thanks man!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Waterboy: happy Birthday man! I like him a lot as we get deeper into the season, but I’m not there yet. And I’m still sticking with Hill.

  18. Paul Zone says:
    (link)

    Pick 2 in PPR:

    Hyde, Snead, Gillislee

Then at qb: Smith or Palmer?
6 pts for tds, 3 pt bonus for 300 yds

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Paul Zone: Hyde and Smear, and then Palmer.

  19. Adam says:
    (link)

Standard league. Filling a wr and flex rb/wr.

    Abdullah, fuller, thielen. Pick two.
Running out marshawn and cja as rbs. Also have Mack and a jones. Dunno if they’re worth a start yet.

    Thanks for you help

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Adam: Abdullah AN D Fuller

  20. Jerry says:
    (link)

Hey, Jay. Should I drop Charles for Ju Ju. I need a wr with Baldwin, Dez and Shep out. I have Murray, Hyde, Mack, Rob Kelly, Coleman and Ellington as rbs besides Charles. Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Jerry: yeah, that’s fine

  21. Ladner says:
    (link)

Eh, without knowing which judges sat on the 3-judge panel your paragraph is weak. Also only 2 or 3 of the 13 appeals courts lean right at all so saying its “the most conservative” is saying most out of 2. Not that significant. Regardless, it’s just bad practice to judge a legal decision on who made it, rather than on the facts of the case.

Also I would say quoting the Daily Kos/ Ian Millhiser qualifies as political content.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Ladner: You make a fair point, but any circuit court that covers Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi will be the most conservative by default. It is significant. And I have no commentary on the Zeke case, but their past decisions leave much to be desired, especially by those looking strictly through the lens of the law.

  22. James says:
    (link)

I’m 5-0 in 2 leagues and looking ahead to playoff weeks thanks to you gents! A few quick questions for your brilliant selves.

    1) Drop/trade Seahawks and roll with the Ravens ROS?
    Weeks 13-16:
Seahawks get PHI, @JAX, LAR and @DAL.
Ravens get DET, @PIT, CLE, IND.

    2) ROS: Fuller V or John Brown? I could drop Seahawks, Fuller or Samaje for Brown.

Rolling with Diggs/Funchess right now. Got Fuller V to cover Diggs today but love Brown’s matchup… I’m comfortable at RB and would drop Samaje for Brown (or Foreman) but I’m tantalized by Samaje’s upside opportunity with that Washington offensive line.

    Thanks guys.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@James: Nice, glad to hear! 1 – Yeah, you can always stream, but try to trade JIC.

2 – Fuller out of that group. If it’s just for match-up play and temp, Brown is fine. But for ROS, probably Fuller.

  23. William Hung says:
    (link)

Ricardo Louis still has no stats today… not looking good for me

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@William Hung: I know I always tell you this, but hang in there, still early! Also, blame Matt big time! Haha

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

        @Jay: 2 for 12 in the first half – best i could’ve hoped for i guess

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@William Hung: Now times that by two! Err, wait, yeah, 4 for 24… nevermind.

Still though, hopefully we see something.

          • MB

            Mb says:
            (link)

@Jay: I’d it time to rank everyone on the factory of sadness outside of the top 50 of every position every week? Lol I just know Hogan liked him last week!

  24. anonubous99 says:
    (link)

Should I drop james white or ameer abdullah for sterling shepard? (.5 PPR 10 team league)

I have good depth at RB so I can let one of these guys go.

With OBJ going out for me, I picked up Roger Lewis for depth but I’m really considering getting sterling shepard off of the waiver wire since he is available now. If so, how much should I bid on him? I have $59 left.

    Thanks again!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

With White most likely. I think Abdullah is great depth for you.

  25. William Hung says:
    (link)

both martavis bryant and jamison crowder are drops in .5 PPR leagues right?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@William Hung: In 10 team, for sure. In 12 team? Yeah, I’m okay with it depending on what’s out there.

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

@Jay: I’m getting fed up with both of them in my 14 team league – i’ve now lost 4 in a row

I really got screwed by drafting Cooper and the both of them. I never would’ve guessed that DeVante Parker would be my best WR right now

I need to make a move somewhere

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@William Hung: Yeah, hit us up with some ideas if you want to, but tough pill to swallow. If I remember, your team put up a lot of points last year but luck just wasn’t on your side… I think?

  26. Jake says:
    (link)

Would you trade Devante Adams for jimmy Grahm if you were deep at wr and needed a TE ? With the loss of Ridgers I am sure that will hurt Adams a little .

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jake: Yes, I think it’s a slight overpay, but no need to mess around if you need a top tier TE. Well, “toppish”.

  27. Steve Anus says:
    (link)

holy crap this is a bad week, 3 QB’s lost job or got hurt. in one 2 QB league technically i COULD FAAB one of the replacements (lost rodgers) BUT we have a stupid 3 max rules per week and i already did that from having grabbed lewis/backup IDP for bye week/kelley. man that’s a really bad rule.

    • Steve Anus says:
      (link)

@Steve Anus: even MORE holy crap, in all money leagues this week i’m starting either winston or carr (with RW3 on bye) and am either guaranteed wins OR near it. in the rodgers 2 QB league i’m already getting the trade rape “offers”. yeah i’ll still set my lineup but i’ll now be relishing that high draft pick i’m gonna get next year. actually if brissett can just get 16 or so points i’ll still somehow be 5-1 in the rodgers league. that’ll obviously fade quickly though.

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Steve Anus: Yeah, if there was one QB I was okay with people invest in, it was Rodgers. Just nothing you can do.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Steve Anus: Yeah, this year sucks. More than others.

  28. Bama says:
    (link)

Got lucky and grabbed deshaun Watson for a “spark in my qb position” and he’s done just that..

Would you trade my backup qb- Phil rivers for amari cooper?

    thanks

    • MB

      Mb says:
      (link)

@Bama: DeShaun is on a bye next week, it depends who’s available and whether or not you need a win. But Cooper has nowhere to go but up!

  29. Nightpandas says:
    (link)

    12 team keep 3,

Mixon and a higher pick too much to give for Doug Martin? Looking at this year’s production

    • MB

      Mb says:
      (link)

@Nightpandas: yes. I think they will end up having pretty similar production actually.
