Another week, another okay-ish result, but overall, Razzball is still holding strong in the top-10 for the season. This is the first week of Fantasy Football playoffs for many of you, so I know we’re all 98% excited, 2% scared. Or maybe it’s more, it could 98% scared and 2% excited, but, you know, I just quoted Armageddon, so I think we can quickly move along to the rankings…

Man you nailed the DST last week man, got me to my playoffs thanks!
Curious on Ajayi and where you have him. I have Jeremy Hill over him and it will give me an ulcer all week trying to decide, I can feel it!
Yeah, I hear you. Ajayi has been tailing off a bit, which seems only natural. I still might go him, just because what we saw out of Hill last week was disappointing, in that even with so many guys injured, his output remained unchanged.
Any suggestions for defense for next week and the following week? I have a few open roster spots and I want to get ahead a few weeks with my defensive pickups.
@Amolnar: He doesn’t know who’s available or who they’re playing. Would be helpful and considerate if you listed some matchups, just sayin’.
@Amolnar: Yeah, got a list of what’s out on your waiver wire? I’d be happy to give some suggestions.
@Jay:
Shit, my bad. I’ll just list them all since I am a total dumbass.
Bears, Raiders, Jets, Jags, Colts, Panthers, Falcons, Giants, Saints, Rams, Lions, Browns, Titans
@Amolnar: Haha, no worries man. I’d probably want… eesh, the list is kinda depressing. I’d probably go Raiders this week… might go Panthers next week, but I don’t like trusting them right now. Titans could be interesting.
We finally got that injury in the Cincy backfield we were hoping for! I’ll chalk the poor showing up to a top run D last week. Unfortch, he’s facing another one this week. I’m holding my coin flip at 12:55 on Sunday between him and J-Stew as I crack my first beer. It’s going to be mystical ceremony.
@Cram It: Yeah, it’s a fair point. That is actually a tough matchup, feels really close. I usually wait till noon plus a minute, then it’s off to drunk land.
@Jay: I think they’re both in the 60-70 total yards range and it’ll depend on who gets a TD, if either do. Philly’s only yielded 6 rushing TD’s all year and Seattle’s allowing only 3.5/carry. Maybe I’ll hit Drunkland an hour early, say “F it” and just pick one, instead of thinking about it too much.
@Cram It: Yeah, that kinda mirrors what I’m thinking, with a bit more specificity. Maaaaaan, never too early to hit drunkland. I just need to make sure I make it to SNF. That’s my one requirement.
@Jay: Haha. I’m lucky if I make it to halftime of SNF most Sundays. You probably have to though, for Razzball purposes.
@Cram It: Kinda. Last week I actually fell asleep in the first half, and then regretted waking up for the second half. But you’re right, first world problems man.
Ppr neer a flex.
S. Smith, Benjamin, Watkins, Powell, or Dixon.
Thanks bro.
@Fizz: Watkins is the wild card… and I’m tempted. Otherwise, I might go Dixon, another interesting option.
Few questions for this week:
1) Do I drop Gates for Rudolph? Looks like Reed won’t be playing, and he’s been my starter for most of the year.
2) Do I drop the Giants for the Ravens, Packers, or Jets?
3) Ajayi, Forte, Booker, Benjamin, or Watkins for my Flex?
0.5 PPR – 3 point bonus at 85 yards rec/100 yards rush – 6 point bonus at 135 yards rec/150 yards rush – 6 points per TD
@Wilsonian: Yeah, I think so, 2 – for the Ravens, 3, probably Ajayi. Watkins is very interesting. I might consider him too, but I’d like to wait a bit more.
@Jay: thanks man. Would you play Watkins over T.Williams or D.Adams as my WR3?
@Wilsonian: Tough one on Adams. I think so.
Hey Ralph!
Do you prefer Landry or Tate in PPR, both for this week and ROS?
Who do you like more this week for DST, Dolphins or Chargers?
And here’s to Razzball finishing strong!
@Not Your Average Joe: Ralph doesn’t write for football…
I’d lean Tate there, and Chargers. Thanks for the well wishes though!
@Jay:
Oh dear. I am so sorry, Jay. It’s been that kind of morning. I almost got Grey and Slim confused too in basketball, and that’s not nearly as egregious. My bad!
@Not Your Average Joe: Haha, happens more than you think. I just don’t want to give any credit to a Patriots fan!
@Jay:
That’s a holy endeavor, sir. I commend you.
Btw, if I had Miami and SD as DSTs to alternate ROS (would at least play SD this week and MIA next week vs. ARI) would you drop any of them at this point for BUF? I ask because BUF’s last three weeks are CLE, MIA, @NYJ, but I question the usefulness of holding them the next two weeks and I worry that despite some good matchups they’re not nearly as good as one hopes. I also think that next week I may be able to add them since they’re playing PIT, so I doubt anyone goes for them.
What do you think? Stand pat with MIA and SD ROS or add Buffalo now and/or later?
@Not Your Average Joe: Yeah, I’m okay. Buffalo is okay, but their more of a solid defense, not a playmaking one. For DSTs, I want matchups where there is the possibility of interceptions, sacks, fumbles, etc. I may be biased, but Bosa and Heyward, along with the rest of the line and linebackers have been on fire for a month.
Why tate so high in standard league? I would think also Tyeek hill should be ranked a little higher?
@Blake: It’s a fair point, but I’m digging Tate’s matchup this week. It’s worth nothing though, that I am slightly higher on Boyd than my peers.
Howdy jay!
Crunch time!!
.5 ppr league I’m nervous with Dez tonight who will most likely be covered be Xavier Rhodes who has shut down top WRs this year
We start 3: right now I have it as Dez, Baldwin & Hopkins. My bench I have Emmanuel sanders, Sterling Shepard.
Another player I have tonight is Rudolph good play? If diggs is back could that hurt Rudy?
At D/St I stream here ; I already dropped the Titans but I was gunning for Ravens but they were added: available D’s
– Raiders D (home in that black hole vs Tyrod & McCoy)
– Chargers D (home vs Winston/Evans )
– Bucs D (on the road vs Rivers who’s good for a pick the rest of the Chargers O)
– Dolphins D (on the road facing Flacco & the Ravens, Kiko Alonso has been on a tear!)
If Dez wasn’t facing the Vikings/ tough D it may make my decision easier
Thanks again
@Woody: Yo yo, hopefully Captain Crunch! I have Sanders over Hopkins… it’s worth nothing that ESPN is very high on Brock Lobster this week, with makes me want to stay the ef away.
I’d go Chargers. Bosa and Heyward have been playing out of their minds.
@Jay:
Thanks jay for the insight!
Do you agree with starting Dez?
@Woody: Yup, I’m still digging the Dez.
Thanks for the rankings. What are your thoughts on these three tight ends for a week 14-17 playoffs? Which one would you play? Standard scoring league. Thanks!
Antonio Gates
Cameron Brate
Ledarius Green
@John: And, someone just dropped Zach Ertz, so I’ll throw him into the mix too. Thanks!
@John: Any time! Brate is the floor, Gates the ceiling. I might be a homer, but Rivers always looks for Gates first in the red zone. I think if you have a stable core, I’d go for the ceiling with the TE position.
I have Cam, but looking to add Jameis or Tyrod to start over him this week (and potentially other weeks)…who should I add?
End of season scheds who would start…playoffs 15-16. Win in 13-14 and I’m in.
If Reed or Maclin get tagged as Out, I will IR one and roster all 3 of these guys.
Week 13 – Cam @ SEA, Tyrod @ OAK or Jameis @ SD (leaning Tyrod or Jameis)
Week 14 – Cam vs SD, Jameis vs NO, Tyrod vs PIT (leaning Cam or Jameis)
Week 15 – Cam @ WAS, Jameis @ DAL, Tyrod vs CLE (leaning Tyrod)
Week 16- Cam vs ATL, Jameis @ NO, Tyrod vs MIA (Def Cam)
@Chad Bowling: I’d want Jameis for sure. Those two NO matchups could be a boon. Oak and Dal he’ll be okay, so here’s the order I’d probably do. Tyrod, then Jameis, then Tyrod, then Jameis.
@Jay: yeah i love me some Cam but i think being out of playoff hunt hes gonna have no incentive to get those needed rushing yds.
@Chad: Right, he’s not going to run at all.
@Jay – on a scale of 1-10 how shocked are you with Joey Bosa? I thought the Chargers would not get much from him this season since he held out for so long. Too bad Manti is injured or else the Chargers could see what they have with both of them on the field.
@William Hung: I’d say a solid 5. The draft reports hinted at this, but a lot of the hype was undercut because old white man tend to like being negative about younger people. I actually haven’t felt this excited since we get Merriman. Shame of it is, our shit owner poisoned the well, so he’ll leave soon enough.
It’s weird too, since I can vent a little, general consensus of San Diego fans (at least the gregarious ones) were that Bosa was demanding too much. Laughable.
It always confuses me how idiot mouth-breathers seemingly side with billionaires over millionaires, as if they don’t see the irony of it all if you simply scaled down to percentages and realized that they are basically siding with their boss over themselves. It’s like critical thinking went out of style. Sad really.
12 team ppr
1 pt every 25 y passing
4 pts for passing td
1 pt every 10 y rushing
6 pt every rushing td
would you start Rivers vs. TB or Kaepernick @ CHI?
Leaning towards Kap because of the rushing yards.
thoughts?
@Bobbo: In this league, yes, I would go Kap. Those rushing yard points could at 6-7 to his final tally.
Hey Jay- I have a TE question here. I’m locked in for a playoff spot but a win this week gets me a first round bye. Reed is out for me, which leaves me with a few options, Standard Scoring:
L. Green: I could def see him go off with AB taking the top off the defense
McDonald/Kendricks: seem like they’re reliable targets for their qbs
Vernon Davis: Horrible matchup this week but is a great cuff for the playoffs bc Cousins loves his TEs
Should I play it safe and get a good cuff for Reed ROS or aim higher and get Green/McDonald/Kendricks?
Then I have to drop someone…Dixon, Dion Lewis, or (ugh I can’t believe I’m even thinking this) hopkins?
RBs: Shady, Martin, Gillislee, Dixon, Dion
WRs: Baldwin, Moncrief, Watkins, AJG, Hopkins
Thanks a bunch!
@jdubs: I think Green there is fine. Oh wait, hmm, I’d want to hold onto all three of those. Damn. I guess Lewis might be the drop, I’d keep Hopkins.
Actually, looking to your roster, I’m okay dropping Gillislee too. It’s good to have handcuffs, especially going into playoffs, but the upside of Lewis and Dixon the next few weeks should cushion the blow if Shady goes down.
Should I snag M Bennett in my 12 teamer? Bench includes K Benjamin, Watkins, Cobb, T West, Prescott, T Coleman (cuff) so I think drop is Cobb (especially since I have D Adams & wont play both)…or T West (but hes my bench depth). I currently play Graham at TE so Bennett would really be only flex option…
@Nick: Yeah, I’d drop Cobb. He doesn’t help you at this point.
@Jay: thanks bud, that’s what I thought
@Nick: Word!
Breaking news: Gronk needs back surgery ASAP & will have surgery on Friday. Yikes!! With Gronk not returning until the super bowl if the pats make it there.
Marty B is owned in my league but he’s dinged up , w/ this Gronk news does this benefit Hogan or Malcom Mitchell more? Both are FA’s. I’d be dropping Witten (own Rudolph).
My WRs are sanders/Watkins/Nuk//dougie baldwin/chief monCrief/Shepard & Dez
Next thoughts on dropping Biggie Smalls (Smallwood) for Powell just for depth /maybe more?
RBs I own DJ/Melvin Gordon/Jeremy hill/ A Ellington/ Farrow & Smallwood
As a pats fan I’m not liking this Gronk news thanks in advance
@Timmm: I think it goes to Lewis honestly. (And Bennett, if healthy.) But I think Hogan would be the guy out of those two. And yeah, I’d want Powell there.
@Jay:
Thank you jay, you’d be okay with dropping Witten for hogan? It’s for depth since I’m not starting Witten & wouldn’t be starting hogan.
However other players I could add if I’m dropping Witten: Inman, lafell, Eli Rogers, lance kendricks, pitta, CJ Fiedorowicz, will tye & there’s also Dwayne Allen too
@Timmm: Yeah, it’s okay. I’d rather have Inman, all things being equal.
If you look at FantasyPros, the answer is really clear, but I’m still debating this one – Start Big Ben or Tyrod?
Ben is great at home and everything, but he’s put up a few clunkers (under 10 pts, but only in away games) and the Giants defense is looking strong lately and punishing QBs, and they ‘ve given up the 3rd fewest pts to QBs this season.
Tyrod has been pretty consistent this year, but hasn’t had a game with more than 25 pts yet this year in my league. He’s got a great matchup, but is away (though he did well against Seattle in Seattle). I’m thinking he’ll have to pass a lot to keep up with OAK and he’s got Sammy back, so there is big game potential here.
I pretty much need a victory this week – the rest of my team is very solid and QB is the only issue I have. Is the risk too high playing Tyrod over Ben? Or do you see Tyrod outscoring Ben this week based on matchup? Thanks
@FrankyFiggz: You make good points, but I think they’re far enough apart for me that it’s a nonfactor. The playmakers on the Steelers are a big part of it too. Either Bell or Brown could have big games, and Ben will directly benefit from that. They could get closer as time goes on and with new reports on Watkins, but I think I’m sticking with Roethlisberger.
@Jay: I have Big Ben…I would only consider benching him on the road in tough matchup…which is coming up. So get to preppin for playoffs if you make it!
btw, Big Ben has not thrown for less than 3 TD at home this season, just saying
@Nick: one of his clunkers was when he was right off injury (don’t know if that was on road or home though), another game it was crazy windy and they literally just didn’t throw the ball. i’m not doing the work here, but that seems to rule out 2 games (unless it’s that windy yet again and they are winning against shit team like the browns yet again)
Would you definitely drop Ryan Mathews for Burkhead in a 12 team PPR?
Also, are you confident Fiedorowicz has a better game than Gates this week?
Thanks!
@Luke: I’m okay with that, sure. I’d say he’s the safer pick of the two, yes.
What do you think about playing Snead over M Jones Jr, Boyd & Inman? If Tyrell Williams is out, I’m seriously considering Inman, thoughts?
Than its Lat Murray over D Booker I see…with a potential backup in Denver I suppose that sounds right as Jacksonville will try to stack the box
@Nick: Yeah, if Tyrell is out, go Inman, for sure. He looked great last week, and Rivers took notice, I’m sure of it.
Trying to decide on QBs to roster. Tiebreaker is week 15 start. How would you (very) preliminarily rank?
Eli v DET
Tyrod v CLE
Jamie’s at Dal
Thank you.
@The imp: Probably Tyrod and Eli being a tossup, and then Jameis. I’d probably side with Eli, but I’m still wrestling with it.
@Jay: Weather may end up mattering too. I like Eli at home in good weather, but the Browns are the Browns. Am I safe to assume your preference for Tyrod this week over Eli is fairly small too?
You’re right, I didn’t even think about that aspect. And on the last one, I actually have Tyrod higher comparatively now. I’m getting hyped tonight when researching Watkins.
in a 12 team 2 QB PPR dynasty (2 RB/2 WR/1 TE/ 2 flexes)
QB rodgers/rodfather/brock lobster
RB mathews/ingram/forte/mckinnon/ivory
WR treadwell/d-jax/edelman/jordy/boyd/britt
TE ertz/j.thomas
IR allen/woodhead
it looks pretty damn likely ivory/j.thomas/mathews are out this week. rankings are obvious, no issue there. however, if ingram ends up not playing i’d possibly not have a 2nd RB this week (mckinnon goes tonight).
here’s available TE and RB
RB: (only this week we’re concerned with): literally only backups: al morris/cunningham/c.west/bibbs/turbin/jacquizz/draughn/ellingto/du harris/farrow/barber
TE: (who i might either have to own later or even might be better off with anyway long term if i drop j.thomas for RB if ingram doesn’t play): henry/doyle/clay/gresham/cook
1. just play mckinnon over my worst this week WR, move ingram to flex, and if he doesn’t play slot in the WR later?
2. am i better off owning one of those TE’s over j.thomas anyway? (henry quite possibly)
@Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves: shame i didn’t know about ingram missing this much time this late in week or i could’ve just grabbed burkhead less than 24 hours ago for free (every day waivers FAAB)
@Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves: 1. Yeah, I think so, Although, Jacquizz might be an option. I think I might go him over McKinnon. 2. Henry maybe, but I think I”m going JT there.
was that two pretty decent mckinnon runs in consecutive plays vs the DAL’s 6th ranked rush D? yeppers
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef
@Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves: i mean his last 2 rushes looked good, they were not back to back plays.
@Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves: What a time to be alive!
Hey, Jay. Which two wr in a full point, PPR this week: Britt, Landry, and Inman? Thanks!
@Jerry: inman is the one out, unless of course t-will is also out, then i’d guess he moves ahead of one of them (britt) but that remains to be seen.
@Jerry: Hinges on Tyrell. I’m thinking Inman right now, but Landry probably until we find out more tomorrow night.
longest bradford run of this season my ass, try whole career, having used to watch every bradford game i’ve NEVER seen him make a smart, aggressive forward intentional run for that many yards (AND without tearing/pulling something in his leg).
@Montezuma’s Revenge…right now: I’m just like you, surprised that he made it alive.
add bradford to the camtown list of QB’s who the refs literally give 2nd class status. brady gets probably 2 calls on that one.
@Mantis Toboggan MD: Three probably.
@Jay: these refs should just be semi honest and when it goes
bradford: “did you not see him hit me in the helmet with both hands?!”
ref: “you have the wrong name on the back of your shirt sir, now back to your business”
or
ref: “you appear to be confused and don’t realize which jersey you are wearing tonight, while this is a shame you should get your eyes checked, not me sir”
@Mantis Toboggan MD: Like, I wonder how they groupthink. It’s scary that this might just be the natural way all refs think, since I don’t think they have a conference call and decide, yeah, let’s fuck these guys over.
First time really checking out razzball,
PPR league. Lamar Miller or Latavius Murray? Doug Baldwin or DeAndre Hopkins?
I’m leaning towards Murray and Baldwin, BUT…
Football Outsiders has the Bills’ run D @ 25th, Packers @ 7th.
And I’m wondering if the Texans could end up in a shootout, increasing Hopkins opportunities while the Seahawks could end up in a low scoring game where they grind it out.
Thanks
@Chalupa Batman: Welcome! We’re always here to help. Tough on there, I kinda like Miller, but I went with Murray in my rankings. Trends from the last few weeks plus matchups ultimately decided the coinflip. And you’re right, I agree on Baldwin as well.
I do like Hopkins and to a lesser extent, Osweiler, but I tend to be a bit more conservative during playoffs.
@Jay: Thanks Jay! Appreciate the welcome and the advice.
@Chalupa Batman: Any time!
Thanks for the rankings, Jay. Could you recommend a RB2 and flex from DMartin, Booker, Moncrief, Watkins, MIngram (sounds like he may not play)?
Appreciate your help.
@Steve: Of course! I’m digging Martin there, but Watkins is intriguing.
Looks like you’re pretty high on Latavius this week, which I like. Deciding between him, Watkins, Tyreek Hill, and Snead at flex in .5 ppr league. Thoughts?
@Josh: Tough one, I think I like Latty still there. I think if I’m right, he’ll outscore all of them.
With Ingram really questionable, do I pivot to Watkins, Bennett or K Benjamin?
@Nick: I think Watkins. I’m not sure what to think of Bennett right now, honestly.
Bennett was dropped. Would you make any swaps ? The guy I’m playing next week has Jordan reed and no back up, so he’s probably going after him.
Qb ryan
Rb freeman
Rb ware
Wr ab
Wr Evans
Te gates
Bench – r. Wilson, Crowell, Rawls, Steve smith, D. Parker
Thanks !
@Old Dirty: Yeah, I think I want Bennett over… hmm. I’m okay with Parker going, but the depth would worry me. I think I’d just hold here and hope that Bennett isn’t a factor if he gets picked up.
Full PPR start 2…..Inman, Burkhead, Garcon, McDonald
@IrishMike: Right now, probably Inman and Burkhead. Garcon is something I’m thinking about though.
Hey Jay, one more question this week. I’m rolling out Az but Baltimore is still on waivers (10team)..do you drop a T Boyd to roll out Ravens this week? I own Marshall, Adams, Snead with Jones Jr, Boyd & Inman on bench…..or maybe just drop Az all together since the schedule is not very good the next 4 weeks? I’m locked into playoffs & can secure the #1 seed with win this week. What do you think?
@Nick: I think you can drop Arizona and stream with that schedule. I’d like to keep Boyd to see what he can do.
@Jay: thanks bud! I just do not trust Az anymore
@Nick: I hear ya!
This is KC’s ROS
At atl
V oak
V ten
V den
I’m thinking about dropping Ellington (rb4 and cuff behind DJ, shady, jstew in shallow league where I would definitely not get Ellington if DJ goes down) to pick up GB now and maybe use the spot for another streamer in an 14.
What would be your play?
Thanks
@The imp: Yeah, I would stick with KC there. It’s not a terrible ROS. I’d probably just be worried about ATL.
Hey Jay, What are your thoughts on Malcom Mitchell the ROS PPR??????? Worth Picking UP??? Thanks….
@Todd: Yes, but it depends on who you’re dropping. I do like the upside.
Jay my team is Qb R. Wilson and K. Cousins, RB Elliot, Ingram and Kelley, WR Beckham, Pryor, Hopkins, Inman and Enunwa, TE Gates and Mcdonald………I would probably drop Mcdonald….We start 1 QB, 2 RB, @ Wr, 1 TE. …….1 RB/WR Flex….1 WR/TE flex….Just getting ready for playoffs and looking for more upside……Thanks Dude…….
@Todd: Hmm, yeah, I hear ya, but I like everyone on your team as is. I think Enunwa is a great hold there, I like him more than I others I think though. I’m okay dropping McDonald though, like you said. I think you can stream at the same level if you make that move.
