After a random week of non-performance (that’s what she said), we’ve returned to another strong placement. We’re on pace to finish strongly this year and also beat out the previous two years of results, which has been one of my goals here since day one; and that’s to improve every single year and place Razzball among the top experts in all the universe. Why is this important? Well, the non-selfish answer is: What is man that does not make what is around him better? I learned that from Legolas in some Ridley Scott movie. The selfish answer is pretty obvious; gimmie those sweet hits, baby. Self-serving will get you everywhere in this world (especially during election season!), but I think it’s fair to point out that we pride ourselves on offering quality rankings without a subscription requirement, opposed to about 90% of the rotating “experts” in the top-10 for Fantasy Football Accuracy. And I hope that encourages our readers to maximize their teams and fantasy experience by taking a look at our separate subscription content, all carefully crafted and molded by Rudy Gamble. It’s no secret that projection systems are becoming the rage (and you’ll can find out my own ranking process here), but having all the tools, including the free ones, might make the difference between finishing first and, well, not finishing first…

Here are your Week 8 Rankings… (Rest of Season rankings have been updated and can be found here!)

Select the “Flex” tab if you need a more complete picture to decide your starts and sits. Use the “OP” tab for 2QB Leagues. And you can access our Half PPR and PPR rankings using the drop down box in the top left of our rankings when you select the RB, WR, TE, or Flex positions. Any and all questions will be answered below…

  1. Brian says:
    (link)

Wow your not a huge Booker fan are you ? I think you may be wrong on his ranking but opinions differ other than that I like where your heads at. TY TY

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brian: I’m agnostic on him I think. I’m not shy about being a CJA guy in terms of the Broncos RBs, but the Chargers defense has been doing better the last few weeks. I’m kinda torn here, but I’m going to err on the side of caution with him.

      • For an Armenianless vacation come to Akron says:
        (link)

@Jay: good answer, hopefully yr agnostic on all non-SD players, and i’ve assumed you were.

  2. Zandy says:
    (link)

given ROS rankings, should i be doing the Hopkins for Nelson swap? in std

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Zandy: Yeah, having the names in front of me, Jordy does get the slight nod right now, but I still think Hopkins has the ceiling… but getting there. I still view it as lateral, because it’s a two-spot upgrade, so I wouldn’t call it necessary.

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

@Jay: I do save Hopkins bye next week but I also own Cobb and Monty so prob way too much Pack if i did the deal…

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

          @Zandy: Yeah, makes sense.

  3. Dave says:
    (link)

Is eifert gonna play the whole game this week? Tempted to start him overJordan Matthews in the flex in PPR? Matthews has been killing me would you start Eifert over him?

    • Cram It says:
      (link)

@Dave: Matthews is #49, Eifert is #101. But it’s your team brah!

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@Dave: i’d wait to actually see him have a decent snap count first. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/snapcounts

not just preaching i have eifert in my biggest money league and 2 others myself. at this point also of course have guys like henry etc subbing.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Dave: I’m iffy on it right now. Still going Matthews there.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Dave: Iffy on Eifert that is.

  4. Chisoxx_22 says:
    (link)

In a standard league, would you trade Hilton for blount or Stewart? I have deep wr depth but none at rb

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Chisoxx_22: I think you can do slightly better. Maybe try for a Forte or Gordon and see what it takes?

  5. Cram It says:
    (link)

I hate that you have Gio, J-Hill, J-Stew and Gillislee ranked so close together. Owning both Cincy backs makes the decision tough every week.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Cram It: Yeah, the Cincy backfield is totally frustrating. I think you flip a coin on Gio and Hill, then go with Stew there.

      • Cram It says:
        (link)

@Jay: I’ve been flipping a coin with these two the whole season and I’ve gotten it right 3 out of 7 times. Ha. There’s handcuffing, and then there’s this! I’m just venting…I wish one of them would get hurt.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Cram It: It would make things easier…

        • For an Armenianless vacation come to Akron says:
          (link)

@Cram It: i got quite lucky with booker/anderson, take a whiff of my pants baby

  6. Toby says:
    (link)

Congrats on another 5th place finish!

I’m trying to upgrade at WR in a 12-team standard league and I have RBs to burn with Bell, DJ, Forte, Ware, Martin and C-Mike. I’m thinking C-Mike is the best one to shop since he still has a lot of value but has seen declining numbers recently to go with the imminent return of Rawls. Do you agree? And who would you target?

I have one owner in my league with WR’s to spare and might be able to go after either Marvin Jones or Snead with the potential to package in Cousins, which would be an improvement at QB as well (Palmer and Bortles stink!).

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Toby: Yeah, I’d dangle CMike there, and I’d aim for a buylow. Maybe a Hopkins or Arob.

      • Toby says:
        (link)

@Jay: I tried for Hopkins, Arob, Marshall and DT but no one is biting. I think my best options are the ones I listed above (Jones or Snead + Cousins). Does either sound like a good deal for me or am I shooting too low.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Toby: I think Jones is fine then, for sure.

  7. William Hung says:
    (link)

    Nice job there Jay!

If Matt Jones does indeed sit out this week, should I drop him for Jeremy Langford? Both situations are murky but I feel like since Langford is playing, we can see how he is recovered and if he has a solid game, he instantly becomes a waiver add/stash for Week 10

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@William Hung: Thanks man! TEs are slowly coming around I feel. I think that’s okay, you need a body that’s getting snaps.

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

@Jay: I need Marqise Lee to get my team off to a good start tonight with a solid 8-10 points

I keep looking at my RB position and can’t figure out how it became such a wasteland. Right now I’m banking on Rashad Jennings leading this crew next week which is why I keep flip flopping around with RBs.

I’m dropping Britt for Knile Davis and hoping he has a good game this Sunday for some momentum next week, but I need to hedge and pick up a 2nd RB flier… I read up more on Peyton Barber and his breakout game was a bit misleading since he was on the field to kill clock and ran for the long TD. In a tight game, is he really going to get snaps? If you already saw the Bucs/Niners game, let me know your thoughts. I know [email protected] is high on him.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@William Hung: Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I think you need to keep threading the needle and hoping for the big day, even from risky propositions. In this case I’ve change a bit here. I might go with Barber.

          • William Hung says:
            (link)

@Jay: So how we ranking these guys – Knile Davis, Peyton Barber, Jeremy Langford

            • Cram It says:
              (link)

@William Hung: Man, you would be fun to troll, Hung. But I’m not gonna do it. Not. Gonna. Do it.

              • William Hung says:
                (link)

@Cram It: I hear the Danish are working on anti-troll technology

                • Cram It says:
                  (link)

@William Hung: You’d probably ask for a week straight “Danish anti-troll technology or Japanese anti-troll technology?”

                  • William Hung says:
                    (link)

@Cram It: you missed my south park reference

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@William Hung: Probably Langford, Barber, Davis this week for hit a homerun type of order. Funny, because the safe order would be how you have it.

  8. Mike says:
    (link)

Love where you have Montgomery, another reason why you are the best!!

PPR flex need 2… Cameron Brate, Rishard Matthews, Chris Hogan, Dwayne Washington…..UGH!!!!

    • Mike says:
      (link)

      @Mike:

      Also have Prosise………

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mike: Haha, thanks Mike! I think you gotta go Brate there.

  9. Nick says:
    (link)

So I currently have Palmer as QB since Big Ben hurt/on bye BUT seriously considering swapping for Dakota Prescott this week despite the tough matchup in Philly…thoughts?

Also, I dropped Mariota in this mess & you have him ranked just above both Palmer/Dak. I hate Thursday games which is why I dropped Marcus but interesting you rank him higher…

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nick: I have Palmer over the Dak Attack, but it’s only one spot right now. Coin flip. And Mariota is only high because it’s the Jags… everyone’s mileage may vary on that one.

  10. Nick says:
    (link)

Also, question about my wideouts…I have Cobb, M Jones Jr, Ty & K benjamin to choose from this week. I only need 2 since we only have 2 WR slots & already have Ingram at flex with Ware/Freeman as RBs. Based on your ranks it’s Cobb & Ty. But having 2 Packers seems counterproductive, no?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nick: Yeah, in this case I might go Jones and hope that Cobb and Ty don’t conflict too much and that the right one is chosen.

  11. Adam says:
    (link)

Going forward which 2 RBs to keep on roster .5ppr

    Chris Thompson
    Knile Davis
    Jordan Howard

    Thanks!

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

      @Adam: not kniles.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Adam: I’d keep Thompson and Howard for now.

  12. Will says:
    (link)

You going with Palmer or Mariota this week?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Will: Mariota, but it’s more like a tie.

  13. Mike says:
    (link)

    Ahoy jay!

.5 ppr would you trade for Booker? I was thinking offering moncrief + Howard. Too much? If too much what about Howard + Shepard or fuller?

My WRs are Hopkins, Hilton, sanders, fuller, Shepard, hogan, Corey Coleman, moncrief, Watkins we start 3

My RBs David Johnson, Melvin Gordon, Jamaal Charles, Howard, Derrick Henry, andre Ellington, and James Starks

With the potential reports that CJA is out for the year would Booker be a RB1/RB2 ROS? If I trade him moncrief, moncrief will become his best WR on his roster. Or try moncrief for Booker straight up?

Hey if he doesn’t bite no worries I’ll just know he won’t want to deal him lol

On the flip if no deal, would you add Bibbs who will now be the backup to Booker unless Denver brings in let’s say a spiller, etc.

Who would you rather flex this week my Howard (vs Vikings). Or Charles (@ Indy) , Hogan (@ Buff), fuller (vs lions),
or drop Starks for either cordaralle Patterson (@ Chicago), DGB (@ Dallas), agholor (@ dallas), thielen (@ Chicago) or Dwayne Washington (at Houston)?

    • Mike says:
      (link)

      @Mike:

Just looked Peyton barber is available and Bucs host raiders D

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Mike: I’m iffy on him right now.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mike: Yeah, I think it’s okay if you need a RB, and I think you have the value right on the trade. I think RB2 depending on how many snaps they dedicate and his effectiveness. Probably trying Charles there, and Patterson could be a nice pickup in that matchup.

      • Mike says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

        Thanks jay

On the flip, the CJA owner of course took a hit losing Anderson, his Martin is banged up, he lost decker , his top 3 WRs are Tate, Marvin jones & Enunwa. His best RB is bell then he also has proise & Crowell too his TEs are Walker, clay.he also has Mike Wallace , davante Adams, Meredith

Would you offer my Melvin + moncrief for bell? Or Gordon + Hilton or sanders for bell?

        Or stand pat

I’d even try a lesser deal not involving Melvin for Crowell , Howard/Charles + fuller?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Mike: I’d try both, honestly. Go for it. (Not the second deal there for Charles, I don’t like that one.)

          • Mike says:
            (link)

            @Jay:

            Thanks man

The Charles deal is be dealing Charles away not receiving him

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Mike: Oh, I see, I thought it was Gordon for Charles. I’d hold there, I like him more than Fuller.

  14. Joe says:
    (link)

Could I, and should I, package something like Graham and A-Rob for Dez and C.Thompson? Is that feasible? I need another RB and I’m WR heavy. Asiata is the only decent option available, but absent dropping one of my DSTs (probably NE since they have a better ROS schedule), I’d basically have to trade. Having gone through other team’s rosters, I’ve realized TE is not too shallow this year in a PPR 10-teamer.

    QB: Brady
    RB: Ingram, White, Coleman
WR: Julio, Landry, Adams, A-Rob, Tate, Moncrief
    TE: Gronk, Graham
    DST: NE, PHI
    K: Lambo

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Joe: Yeah, I’m cool with that. I like getting Dez there, and Thompson in a PPR.

      • Joe says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Thanks! Would gratuitously throwing in the Eagles DST as a 3-for-2 enticement be too much?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

          @Joe: Negligible to me.

  15. Dorian S. says:
    (link)

Thanks Jay for the rankings! Much appreciated!

I don’t know whether I got incredibly lucky, or this might be my season, but I lost Eddie Lacy last week and got an offer for Ingram for Allen Robinson. Managed to somehow convince that guy to also trade me Ty Montgomery too.

So I was feeling good about myself. Then a guy who’s team totally went to hell via injuries comes along and puts Demaryius Thomas and Jarvis Landry. While I couldn’t land both, I scored DThomas and LB Kwon Alexander in exchange for WR Tyler Boyd, TE Eric Erbon, RB Eddie Lacy and WR Charone Peake. Yeah, highway robbery. I know.

Even at 4-3 this is such a highly competitive league that that is a 4th best record(of the 6-8 guys with that record, I have the most points). Two guys ahead of me are 5-2, while the guy in 1st is 7-0 (sadly, he beat me already :( ).

My team (in a 20 league, halfPPR, IDP, QB/2RB/3WRTE/QBFlex/K/2DL/2DB/2LB):
    QBs- Marcus Mariota(traded), Trevor Siemian
RBs- Ezekiel Elliot, Mark Ingram(traded), Tevon Coleman
WRs- Mike Evans, Demaryius Thomas(traded), Ty Montgomery(traded), Michael Thomas, Jordan Matthews(traded), Sterling Shepard
Ks- Justin Tucker, Jason Myers(bye week fill in)
DBs- Chris Harris Jr., Johnathan Cypien
    DLs- Derek Wolfe, Devin Taylor
LBs- Kwon Alexander(traded), Lorenzo Alexander, Mason Foster

Went from upper tier team to this, which probably could get me the title this year. At least I think so. Better yet, none of my trades costed me any picks for next season. :D

Though, I am going to hate having to choose my keepers now. Geezus. >_< That's going to be hard.

Oh. Don't suppose you can see a place I could maybe get better in?

Ah, for the record. The Dorian without the S. isn't me. I started putting S. at the end when I realized I wasn't the only Dorian on here. Just so you guys know.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Dorian S.: If you’re scoring the most points, I’d keep some hope out, these things have a way of exposing themselves. Could go on a run. I like the team and trades you’ve done as well. 4-3 is still right there in a league of this size too.

  16. Allan says:
    (link)

    Jay,
My backfield right now is Demarco, mathews, Gillislee, Chris Thompson, and asiata in a ppr. My only qb is palmer. Should I try to trade Thompson to the Jones owner for rivers? He’s got luck so he may be willing. Or can I not afford to lose the depth? Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Allan: I’d prefer you keep the depth, but I might relook at this next week. I’m probably avoiding Rivers this week.

      • Allan says:
        (link)

@Jay: yeah I’d still play palmer this week. Then play match ups with rivers and palmer ros.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

          @Allan: It’s a fair trade, so I think it’s okay.

  17. For an Armenianless vacation come to Akron says:
    (link)

12 teamer where i’m 7-0, up 2 games on 2nd place, up 161.65 points (23.09 per game more); this league the teams average 136.27 per week, me 165.59 per. now with these RB’s
PIT 2, CHI 2 (not carey), ivory, thompson. is ivory’s upside so shitty (and floor SOOOO boring when i am literally punting D and kicker this week from having LA and tucker, and can handle losing and think it’s actually worth more to keep my kicker/DEF options for playoffs) that i should grab carey to lock up CHI entirely (which weeks ago i thought i had already done)

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@For an Armenianless vacation come to Akron: I think it’s okay, but I’m not sure it moves the needle that much. You have a game to play with, so this is the week to do whatever it is you gotta do.

  18. David says:
    (link)

what’s the thought process on Meredith’s rankings this week?

Trying to decide between him & LaFell as a flex bye week fill-in.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@David: Cutler should be ready to go, and as much as he’s hated, I think he improves the entire offense.

      • David says:
        (link)

I hope your right. I have time to decide I guess. Is he their slot receiver? I haven’t really watched him play yet. Where does he line up?

Anyways, question regarding roster decisions (FYI, 2QB league, PPR, keeper). Would like your opinion. I have the redskins backfield on my roster and I have to drop a player come sunday. I am holding onto all three temporarily to see how Jone’s injury shapes up. I have to drop a player by sunday my roster will be over the limit. Jones looks like he is going to sit this week. I have the luxury to only really need to start 2 RB’s each week. I have a deep WR corp. It looks like Thompson will be my RB2 for the foreseeable future.

Who would you drop? Jones or Kelley (thought is towards future weeks).

        Week 8 Lineup:
        QB: Cam, Wentz
        RB: Zeke, Thompson
        WR: Julio, Cooper, Demaryius,
        TE: Randolph
        Flex: Kelvin, LaFell/Meredith
Bench: Matt Jones, Kelley, Morris, Perkins, Powell, Shepard

My bench is overloaded, need to drop 1 player. Gut says Jones. Thompson has been more effective w/ his touches and seeing an increased role. Especially if Jones misses this week, I see Kelley doing enough to supplant Jones

Also, I can’t see myself in any horrible position going forward barring any major injuries. I’m seeing interest in Cooper. What would you have to see as a return in value to justify trading him away? Interested party has DEN RB’s, Gronk, Marshall, Edelman, Ingram, Pryor amongst notable depth players. Its a PPR league, how much better can I make my team?
