That’s right, I am right smack-dab in the middle of a November blizzard. So far, I have shoveled the driveway twice today and it’s probably going to happen a third time. I can’t stress enough how depressing this is considering it was over 50 degrees on Thanksgiving. The terrible thing about being an adult is in the manufacturing industry I don’t think that they have snow days. At least, I have never heard of it. I upgraded my car situation last summer, so that excuse is out the window too. It’s now in the middle of the second quarter of the night game when I am finally getting a chance to start this so I am most likely going to keep it pretty short.
- Sony Michel is back and every week is going to leave owners on the edge of their seats. Those legs are a dynamic and fragile tool that I’m hoping are massaged constantly by a gang of Victoria’s Secret models every time that he is not on the football field or in the weight room. I know that Robert Kraft can afford it. This man must be protected. In the middle of the game on Sunday against the Jets, Sony walked off of the field very gingerly. Like, too much ginger in your Indian food gingerly. You can use that, by the way. After being convinced that his day was finished, Sony Michel came back into the game with a bang with a big run followed by punching in a one-yard touchdown. I can almost guarantee that he will carry a questionable tag for the entire week and it’s going to be annoying and something to monitor. Finishing a football game seems to be easier than preparing for one when it comes to injuries.
- Starting Robby Anderson when Josh McCown is starting is a curious case and I’ve been asked about it a couple of times. One time, it didn’t matter because Anderson ended up being inactive. The fact is, Robby Anderson isn’t the same player that he was last season, for whatever reason. It’s most likely from nagging injuries. Getting cute and slotting in Anderson is something that I’m trying to avoid until proven otherwise.
- Tom Brady is not living up to his draft slot this season. The guy is over 40 years old so it is certainly understandable that time would finally start gaining it’s edge. Can you actually bench Tom Brady in Fantasy football? I think if you have a high-end back up it might be time to consider the match ups week to week. Usually a match up versus the Jets should be a smash spot for Brady. It was a solid day, but it’s still not what we’re looking for.
- We can confidently assume that Jameis Winston will start again next week for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jameis was in a very good spot this week facing the 49ers at home. He took full advantage throwing for over 300 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
- Adam Humphries scored double digit fantasy points yet again. No matter how hard Tampa tries to bury him on the depth chart every season, he finds a way to produce. Humphries has scored double digit fantasy points in PPR in 4 out of the last 5 games and has over 50 yards receiving in 6 of the previous 7.
- Mike Evans crossed the 1,000 yard mark for the 5th straight season. As boring of a fantasy asset as he is, that’s very impressive.
- Peyton Barber now has 3 touchdowns over his past 5 games. I guess it wasn’t such a bad preseason call after all.
- Jeff Driskel saved Tyler Boyd’s day. At least a Cincinnati quarterback finally figured out how to get him the ball with A.J. Green out. Tyler Boyd finished with 7 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.
- Although Mixon wasn’t able to score a touchdown, he still had a very nice day against Cleveland. Mixon caught all 7 of his targets for 66 yards and ran the ball 14 times for 89 yards. The Bengals still aren’t running the ball enough for having a top tier running back.
- Nick Chubb continues to impress in every way possible. The Browns were smart to cut their losses with Hyde and unleash their star. Chubb didn’t run the ball as efficiently as he has in previous outings, but he made an incredible and I mean INCREDIBLE touchdown catch on a wheel route for his second score of the game.
- Sometimes things just don’t work out. It’s either that or Jarvis Landry was who we thought he was. On Sunday, Landry only caught 3 passes for 30 yards. The most alarming takeaway is that Landry was only targeted 5 times.
- It’s great that Philadelphia finally has the every down running back that they have needed since Jay Ajayi tore his ACL. It would have been a monster day for Josh Adams if he didn’t have a 50 yard run called back because of a holding call, but he was still able to gather up 84 yards and a touchdown in the second half.
- Alshon Jeffery’s value has been completely zapped by the acquisition of Golden Tate. Tate out-targeted Jeffery 8-3.
- Saquon Barkley had a great first half and then for whatever reason, the Giants went away from him in the second half. It was good to see him heavily utilized in the passing game for the first time in a couple of weeks. Barkley was second on the team with 8 targets.
- This is Christian McCaffery’s world and we are just living in it. McCaffery was a PPR wet dream catching all 11 of his targets for 112 yards and a touchdown. Oh yeah, he also carried the ball 17 times for 125 yards and a touchdown. If you think that running backs don’t matter, you are doing this wrong.
- Curtis Samuel has 6 touchdowns this season. Do what you will with this information.
- Gus Edwards is the answer for the Raven’s running game going forward. Alex Collins hasn’t sniffed 100 yards on the ground once this season and Gus the Bus has done it in consecutive games. If Harbaugh gives half of a shit about this organization, he will also keep Lamar Jackson as the starting quarterback.
- Philip Rivers completed 25 passes in a row to start the game. He ended the game with only 1 incompletion against one of the best passing defenses of 2018.
- If Melvin Gordon can’t play for an extended period of time, Austin Ekeler needs to be in your lineup if he is available to you.
- Ho-hum, another 300 yards and 3 touchdowns for Andrew Luck.
- Ju-Ju Smith Schuster saw 4 more targets than Antonio Brown and had a much bigger fantasy day. I think that Rudy is onto something.
- James Conner had a “slow day” but still was able to gain over 90 all purpose yards.
