I won my fantasy baseball league this year and am using the winnings to take my wife and two year old daughter to see Mickey Mouse. When asked what am I going to do now that I’ve won my league, I can honestly answer “I’m going to Disney World”. I am leaving Monday morning, so this post is being written Sunday evening as I half watch the Giants-Niners game, and half compose this writeup. That means I lose two games from which to select players, but I have a feeling it won’t be that hard. Here’s what I’ve come up with.

POS Name Points Owned
QB Josh McCown 35.48 6%
RB Thomas Rawls 22.9 47%
RB Theo Riddick 16 5%
WR Allen Hurns 20.1 55%
WR Jaelen Strong 18.3 1%
TE Gary Barnidge 23.9 50%
FL Willie Snead 17.1 42%
DST Tampa Bay 15 6%
K Travis Coons 15 1%

Josh McCown – Last week The Stats Machine named McCown the top QB performer of the week. Granted, Tom Brady was on a bye, but still, there’s plenty of quarterbacks you’d expect to always be ahead of him. This week he threw for 457 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. While he did have the luxury of overtime to reach 457 yards, that’s still quite the performance. Besides it’s not as if fantasy leagues don’t count overtime action. In the last three weeks he has averaged 384 yards per game and 2 touchdowns. That’s one hell of a three game stretch. But is it enough to consider adding him. Personally I just don’t think so. Unless you are in a two QB league, then you might want to think it over. But even then… Right now, with the right matchup, he seems like he might be a decent bye week fill-in at best.

Thomas Rawls – The fact that he is only 47% owned is a little baffling. With Lynch out for the second straight week, Rawls should have been picked up everywhere. Especially by Lynch owners. Those that picked him up (like me) and started him (like me) were rewarded with 169 yards rushing and a score. He now has two 100+ yard rushing games. Lynch has none. Keep rawlin, rawlin, rawlin, rawlin…

Theo Riddick – I’m not sure what’s going on in Detroit Rock City. Joique Bell is injured again and Ameer Abdullah has been just that, dull. It was actually Zach Zenner that lead the team in carries this week with ten. Riddick actually had no carries for an unsurprising 0 yards. He did however have 10 catches for 53 yards and touchdown. Nice numbers, but no thanks. I still believe Abdullah is the own here. At least I “think” so.

Allen Hurns – Even though he plays second fiddle to the other Allen (Robinson) in Jacksonville, Hurns is proving to be a valuable receiver in fantasy leagues. He made this list last week too. I picked him up last week. I was rewarded this week with 6 receptions, 116 yards and a touchdown. That’s two 116-yard games in a row. On the season he is averaging just over 7 targets per game and has a touchdown in the last three. I own him. You should too.

Jaelen Strong – I’m going be honest here, I don’t even know who this guy is. Here’s what I do know. This week, in his first NFL game, the ball was thrown to him twice. He caught both, each for touchdowns, one of which was a 42-yard hail mary before halftime. Strong’s target to touchdown rate is 1 to 1. I’m expecting this to be he Strong-est showing of the season.

Gary Barnidge – I’m not sure what to do about Barnidge. He made this list two weeks ago and I considered him for last week as well. Now here he is again. With 8 receptions, 139 yards and a touchdown, you’re going to start drawing attention. He has a touchdown in each of the last three games and over that span is averaging 106 yards in the air and touchdown. After this week he’s going to find himself inside the top five amongst tight ends for fantasy points scored. I think it’s time some of you to consider adding him. There’s a very good chance that he will help your team more than your current option. Unless your current option is Gronk, Eifert, Bennett and a few select others.

Willie Snead – Snead was a big waiver wire name last week. It seems the “experts” were right. Those that added Snead this week were rewarded with 6 catches for 141 yards. The only thing missing was a touchdown. In the Saints high powered offense, Snead is going to have plenty of opportunity to score points.

Tampa Bay DST – Whatever

Travis Coons – Nice day raccoon boy!

This group of hopefuls combined for 183.78 points. If your team scored more than that then your team is pretty good! By the way, I am now 5-0 in the Razzball Writers league and in sole possession of first place…
