Come on refs, you’re usually with us on this…

Football finally happened folks. Let’s have some cake. OR watch the first two touchdowns of the season go to no one fantasy relevant. Yeah, you’re right. Let’s have cake instead. So yup, the season opener… It wasn’t that bad. I will say this- it is definitely the “traditional start” to the season… both elevated and dashed hopes, plenty of derpiness, and wild, crazy rethinking of fantasy players.

Green Bay – 16, Seattle – 36

Mike McCarthy opened up the game by not calling useless run plays, which was weird. Earl Thomas then did his best to make Goldan Tate look likable buy fumbling a punt early in the game. Then some vulturing of the touchdowns happened, as alluded to a few sentances ago. Two, if you’re keeping count. And the half essentially ended when Aaron Rodgers had a chance to get a first down, possibly setting up a something-and-goal situation, but decided to throw the ball away instead of taking a hard hit running for three yards. Very week one-ish. Building off that momentum in the third quarter, Rodgers threw a tipped interception via Jordy Nelson to Byron Maxwell (proving that mabye Nelson’s hands did not have enough grit at that moment) which led to a Seattle field goal. However, midway through the third quarter, the Packers offense starting gelling a little (hair gel maybe?), but a fourth-and-five attempt ended with a sack at midfield, and it only got worse from there. The next possesion, Aaron Rodgers was stripped near their goal line, leading to a safety. Discount double point? And then Beastmode continued making everyone who drafted Christine Michael look silly for doing so. Beastmode seems to be here a while longer I think. In the fourth quarter, Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Randall Cobb, keeping some small sliver of hope alive being just 13 points down, but with the Packers needing a valiant defensive effort, it was easy to write them off right there. And yes, just in case you missed the game, SPOILER ALERT, the crowd was loud. Just remember, this is the part when you remind yourself not to overreact to week one’s games.

Russell Wilson – 19/28, 191 YDS, 2 TD and 7 CAR, 29 YDS. A very Russell Wilson game. He was described as cerebral, which I’m assuming is just the short version definition for a quarterback that only throws screens, scrambles, and just feeds to Marshawn Lynch and Percy Harvin as quickly as humanly possible.

Aaron Rodgers – 23/33, 189 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT. At what point does Aaron Rodgers shank Capers? In case I wasn’t the only one who started Rodgers at QB this week… 86 yards passing in the first HALF. Jesus wept.

Marshawn Lynch – 20 CAR, 110 YDS, 2 TD. His real Sunday Night Football player intro: “Marshawn Lynch, Skittle Skool.” So yeah, how about all that stupid running back by committee talk? Sure, it was against a defense that overcommitted anytime it saw Percy Harvin breathe, but this has to be a good sign for everyone who thought the reports of Lynch’s impending collapse were rubbish.

Eddie Lacy – 12 CAR, 34 YDS. I’m still waiting for Victoria’s Secret to capitalize on what could be one of the better “take player’s name and use a play of words” advertising campaigns out there. Regardless, I love the way Lacy runs, but he’s finished before turning 28 if he keeps this up. (BREAKING: It appears that news happened when I was sleeping… how dare the news! Apparently, Lacy sustain a concussion during game last night, which was confirmed by Mike McCarthy. He should have also confirmed that Don Capers is terrible at what he does. “As for Lacy, he was wearing the new Riddell helmet Thursday night called the SpeedFlex, which the company says helps better absorb impact force by adding flexibility to certain parts of the helmet.” So I guess this means back to the drawing board for you? As of now, James Starks is the go-to handcuff, but that just made me yawn for 10 minutes. I’m sure there are better options on the wire…

Percy Harvin – 7 REC, 59 YDS and 4 CAR, 41 YDS. Not sure how he survived one game. Take a look at Percy Harvin, because it is likely your going to miss him for at least eight games this year because his head is made of paper maîche.

Randall Cobb – 6 REC, 58 YDS, 1 TD. I always get the urge to eat a cobb salad when I see him do anything. WEIRD, I know. And to the one dude who I told to start Cobb over Harvin… it sorta might have worked out? For no one? Yeah… no one…

Derrick Coleman and Ricardo Lockette – 3 REC, 53 YDS, 2 TD (combined). Not fantasy relevant. NEVER HAPPENED.

Zach Miller – 3 REC, 42 YDS. Zach Miller showed the reason why the Raiders traded him away.

John Kuhn – 1 CAR, 2 YDS, 1 TD. And the first TD of the year went to… NO ONE ON ANYONE’S FANTASY TEAM.

In other news… Josh Gordon now has a chance at a reduced or complete conciliation of his season long suspension. “The NFL and the player’s association are currently negotiating to lessen the penalties for non-performance enhancing drug use. This Sunday is rumored to be a date that an agreement could be reached.” I guess no one cared until Wes Welker started  dropping Molly’s. I’m not really enthused at the news as some may be, that being said, if you see them on the waiver wire, and you have, say a Hartline, an Amendola, or a Boykin on your bench, that’s around the area I would drop for the chance at Gordon and Welker breaking my heart as they usually do. At least at that cost, I’m okay with a broken heart. DO YOU HEAR ME? I’M GONNA BE OKAY. SERIOUSLY. I AM. Maybe.

Welp, that was quick. Andre Ellington had an MRI on his foot after being limited in Thursday’s practice. “Ellington went for an MRI on Thursday as well, which may just be about an abundance of that aforementioned caution but it’s never a great development when your starting running back needs to have tests done on either of his feet.” How astute of you, quote. A running back needs healthy feet, who would’ve thought? As of now, Jonathan Dwyer is a possible add, but I’d kind of rate him the same way I rated James Starks, and that’s with 8/10 yawns.

A little worried about Spiller now that he is the return guy. Would you start Moreno over Spiller? Also: the Jets or SF defense this week?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Robert: I’m not panicking yet. Let’s see what happens this Sunday. And I’ll go with the Jets. I like San Fran’s D a bit, but there’s a difference between going against the Raiders and the Cowboys.

    • Crapshoot Kershaw says:
      (link)

@Robert: everytime i see somebody mention this (twice) i go back and look at these neat things called depth charts. yep, he’s 3rd string KR. nuff worried. If this thought was based on seeing him do this in a (gasp!) preseason game, that’s about the level of proof of a guy thinking the world is entering another ice age due to the sun not coming up today. I’m the guy pointing out those cloud shaped things blocking what behind, is, in fact, the sun. So is the likelihood of a starting RB doing 1st string KR duties quite the same thing as the sun not existing since clouds are blocking it, no, but’s it’s pretty damn close.

  2. Benny says:
    (link)

In light of this news about the NFL possibly changing their drug policies by Sunday which could potentially reduce/erase suspensions for Josh Gordon and Welker – should we be picking up Gordon as a flier now? If so, which guy would you drop for him? Jeremy Hill, Fred Jackson, or Heath Miller.

    • allen says:
      (link)

@Benny: heath miller is an obvious drop bro…u cant afford to not stash gordon…miller is waiver wire material

      • John Rubino says:
        (link)

@allen: I’ have to agree 100%. Unless if you’re in a stupid deep league the only reason to back up your TE is if you find a waiver wire break out star, and Heath won’t be that guy. (The worst reason to carry a second TE? Yahoo’s draft report card chastises you for not backing up TE, K, and DEF… seriously Yahoo, WTF?)

        • CL says:
          (link)

@John Rubino: I am “wasting” a bench spot on Kelce in all leagues at the moment.

          • John Rubino says:
            (link)

@CL: Not trying to get in a flame war here – but you drafted what you hope is a waiver wire break out star. Good luck to you if he is – but that’s pretty much what I was suggesting and is a far cry from reserving a spot for Heath Miller.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Benny: This seems like the same old song and dance, but if you’d like, Heath Miller is the most expendable guy there.

  3. Nick says:
    (link)

Hey Jay, someone just dropped Amendola in my 10-team non-ppr…I currently own Julian Edelman (along with Cobb, Wallace, Baldwin, Hartline, J. Jones & Bowe…do you drop any of them RIGHT NOW for Amendola??

    Thanks in advance!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nick: Eh, I’d hold as it isn’t really a big upgrade.

  4. Nick says:
    (link)

Also, Greene is available in my league…do you drop any of my WRs for him? I only have Jones-Drew & Hyde on my bench for RBs (with Murray, Matthews & Jennings starting).

    Thanks again!

    • Nick says:
      (link)

@Nick: sorry for all the separate posts but I just noticed Lacy had a concussion…any value in Starks over my bench noted above?? I can’t see it being worth a pick-up as they face the NY Jets next week…

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Nick: It’s totally fine. Starks is meh. Go with Greene for now.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nick: Yeah, if you need that RB depth, which you might, then Bowe is expendable there.

  5. malamoney

    malamoney says:
    (link)

Now the question is how much of a $100 FAAB do you bid on Gordon?

Any news on Lacy’s concussion? I actually grabbed Starks for a $1 with my last pick in my auction.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@malamoney: $10? I’m not really excited about him, despite what the news is at the moment.

  6. Zandy says:
    (link)

Jay+ small tweak on yesterday question. So I ended up dropping Andre Williams for a kicker but then the Josh Gordon story broke so I dropped said kicker for Josh while I waited to get your thoughts…

Half point PPR – need to drop one for a kicker
    Here’s the Squad
    QB – Cutler
    WR- Demaryius, Andre Johnson
RB – Montee Ball, Pierre Thomas
    TE – Pitta
    Flex – Rashad Jennings
BN – Bernard Pierce, Ray Rice, Lamar Miller, Kelvin Benjamin, Ahmad Bradshaw, Shonn Green, Josh Gordon

Assume it is out of Josh Gordon, Ahmad or Shonn.. Who you dropping?

    • CL says:
      (link)

@Zandy: Bye bye Shonne Greene. I actually used a waiver claim to drop Greene for Bradshaw this week. You have depth.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Zandy: I think Shonn is the next more expendable guy there.

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

@Jay: well, just dropped Shonn for Dwyer… So now what do you think? Drop Dwyer, Gordon or Ahmad? or go kickerless like a boss

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Zandy: ugh, you are making me pick against my boy here… has to be Bradshaw at this instant if Ellington is a no go. Just hurts not knowing…

          • Zandy says:
            (link)

@Jay: Thanks man! I think the best move is to wait until sunday morning and make the move last minute hoping gordon or dwyer are resolved by then…

You wouldnt drop Kelvin Benjamin and keep a big stable of RBs, right?

  7. CL says:
    (link)

Jay: I just grabbed Josh Gordon and dumped Cecil Shorts My Other Hammy Hurts… too soon? Guess it doesn’t matter…

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@CL: Yeah, it’s fine. Is your hammy okay though? That’s what I’m worried about.

  8. Mike says:
    (link)

Hey man , would you drop jets kicker folk to add Brandon McManus for this week? Do you like McManus over folk this week?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Mike: I do, yes.

  9. Cram It says:
    (link)

I don’t own Percy Harvin but I cringed every time he got tackled. I’m positive he misses significant time this year due to injury. He LOOKS like he takes a hard shot every time he goes down. It’s weird.

    • Zandy says:
      (link)

      @Cram It: NFL’s DWade

    • CL says:
      (link)

@Cram It: They used him all over. He changed his jersey number to 11 too, didn’t he?

I’d worry about the migraine thing… I don’t own him anywhere.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Cram It: Yeah, I’m 99% sure he doesn’t survive the season.

  10. K_Rich_Bi*ch says:
    (link)

10 team, no keeper, no PPR. What do you think about CJ2K and The Jimmy for Gio, Jordy and Pitta?

    Here’s my team:

    Stafford
    AP
    Gio
    Jordy
    Percy
    Mathews
    Pitta
    S.Jax
    D. Freeman
    D. Woodhead
    J. Maclin
    TY Hilton
    D. Hopkins
    A. Williams

My concern is Jordy may be a top 5 WR is he stays healthy and I don’t even know what to expect from Gio after seeing his and Jeremy Hill’s preseason. Any feedback is much appreciated.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@K_Rich_Bi*ch: I would hold here. I think you are making your config worse even though you would be getting back the best player.

  11. the pillar & the stones says:
    (link)

    10 team non ppr:
Drop M. Wallace and/or L. Miller for any of these?
    J. Hill
    J. Starks
    R. Cooper
    C. Ivory
    S. Greene
    B. Cooks
    Ertz (I own Gronk)

    Thanks

  12. Sou Girls 1 Cup says:
    (link)

Would you drop Amendola and grab Starks for RB depth?

      • Sou Girls 1 Cup says:
        (link)

@Jay: Can never have enough RB’s in this league….hence the reason why I had to give up my 2nd round pick for Stacy in my 5 keeper dynasty league.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Sou Girls 1 Cup: Yeah, I know leagues like that. If that’s the case, definitely.

  13. Sean says:
    (link)

Percy will stay healthy this year and make everyone who passed on him regret it. This is football people anyone can get injured. Stop ignoring this guys upside I’m sick of hearing the bullshit

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Sean: What we’re presupposing is, what if he doesn’t?

    • Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season says:
      (link)

@Sean: is this the same guy who a few months ago was calling all of allen craig’s injuries “freak injuries” or “unlucky” and thus he is just as likely as anyone else to get injured, not more? maybe this is his cousin or logic teacher. you should hang around for a few weeks, it’ll be entertaining for some. also, pretty sure nobody around here questioned his upside, just how much he costs in drafts as compared to a downside you either don’t see, or maybe better called don’t believe in.

  14. Ryan says:
    (link)

In my 10 team .5 ppr league, I’m thinking of adding josh gordon. Anybody on my team worth dropping? I’m leaning towards Terrance West.

    Qb Matthew Stafford
    Wr Jordy Nelson
    Wr Michael Floyd
    Rb Lesean McCoy
    Rb Demarco Murray
    Te Julius Thomas
    Wr/rb/te cordarrelle patterson
    Bn golden tate
    Bn Danny woodhead
    Bn fred jackson
    Bn kelvin benjamin
    Bn mike evans
    Bn terrance west
    Bb jeremy hill

    Def bengals

    K phil dawson

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Ryan: Eh… I’m okay with that. Sure.

      • Ryan says:
        (link)

@Jay: anyone better to drop or don’t get gordon?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Ryan: I hate doing it, but, I mean, West is on your bench… so he’s fine to drop. I’m more miffed at the way the NFL has handled this.

  15. Charles says:
    (link)

If Josh Gordon was never suspended what would his ranking be? Top 5 WR?

    1. Megatron
    2. D. Thomas
    3. Dez
    4. AJ Green
    5. Gordon??

      • Charles says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Wow that’s fascinating. So when you ranked him #1 or #2 was that with Hoyer at QB or Manziel?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Charles: It was Hoyer, but remember, it was all hypothetical at that point, and I hadn’t made up my mind.

  16. Charles says:
    (link)

14 Team non-ppr. Someone just dropped Mike Wallace in our league and picked up Brian Quick. Yeah no kidding. I have the #5 waiver. Who among my bench should I drop to try and pick him up?

RB: Ingram, A. Williams, Khiry Robinson
    WR: G. Jennings, C. Latimer

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Charles: I’m okay dropping either Robinson or Latimer, depending on how your depth is allocated.

  17. Curt says:
    (link)

I need 1 flex from these 3 with a .5 PPR………J.Edelman, Piere Garcon or Kendal Wright?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Curt: Garcon, though it seems wild that you have to bench those other two.

  18. My Vick is Itchy says:
    (link)

10 team Standard League start 2 wrs 2rbs and a flex
Is it worth dropping Terrance williams for M Ingram.

    RBs Morris/Mathews/Stacy/Bradshaw
    WR Jeffery/Cruz/Sanders/Wayne/T Williams

      • My Vick is Itchy says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks, I’m still goin to add him…he’s looked quicker, like he slimmed down and could breakout this yr. I’m comfortable with my wrs and none of them are on the same bye week whereas 3 of my 4 rbs are on a week 10 bye.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@My Vick is Itchy: I HATE YOU. Naw, it’s fine. I’m personally not a fan, but I can’t argue against it, especially in a 10-team league. Go for perceived upside on your bench.

  19. Velocity_X says:
    (link)

Jay, I didn’t draft a kicker in one of my leagues so now I have a couple choices between people to drop and to add in a .5 PPR.

Drop: Terrance West or Dwayne Bowe (Have 4 other RBs and 5 other WRs as a pretty solid core)
Add: Blair Walsh (MIN), Shayne Graham (NO), or Matt Bryant (ATL)

Leaning towards dropping West in hopes I can pick him up later, whereas if Bowe has a good start when he comes back he could be valuable. Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Velocity_X: Yeah, not crazy high on Bowe right now, and I’d go with Walsh.

  20. Matt says:
    (link)

Given news about ellington’s injury, pickup dwyer out of the cardinals backfield?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Matt: If it’s a clear upgrade on your bench, then yes.

  21. Hans says:
    (link)

Jay, would Dwyer be an upgrade from devonta freeman?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Hans: For this week? Maybe… Steven Jackson will go down at some point. If you are RB starved, I do it, but I wouldn’t like doing it, if that makes sense.

  22. Kid A says:
    (link)

Benny Cunningham a must-own for Stacy owners in dynasty until the situation gets some clarity?

    Thanks doode. Keep sizzling

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Kid A: I think the situation is pretty clear for me. I mean, I really think Stacy is the guy, no question, but in a dynasty, you’re totally on point here. I like Cunningham in that format.

      • Kid A says:
        (link)

@Jay: So many tremors already with only one game played.

Ellington, Lacy, and now these Stacy reports with that Snead bastard talking about riding the hot hand. I hate going off GM’s flapping their jaws, but in the beginning when situations are so volatile, you have to turn to any available source of divination.

Fantasy Football is fantastic for cultivating panic attacks.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Kid A: Oh yeah, I agree with you totally. I’m going to be stubborn with Stacy here though and hope for the best.

  23. Clint says:
    (link)

Awesome call on Cobb, Jay. Glad I stuck to my guns and left him in. Let’s see what Le’Veon does Sunday, Houdini (did you see that mini series, btw? Good stuff).

What do you think Lacy and A-Rod’s trade value’s at right now? I’ve got a bunch of RB’s on my bench (Gio, Vereen Le’Veon, Foster) and Newton/Romo/RG3 as my QB’s in my 1 QB, 1 QB flex, 1 RB, 2 WR’s, 1 flex league. Should I package somebody for a shot at A-Rod or Lacy if the owner’s scared? If it matters, my WR’s are Megatron, Cobb, Crabby, Torrey, & Kendall too.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Clint: I have not, but I’m interested in checking it out. And yeah, Cobb didn’t do much early on, but got some garbage points there. I think you have to wait on Lacy to get cleared, but the value should be there when it happens.

  24. Charles says:

@Charles: Way too cute. We could date.

      • Charles says:

So im a ellington owner I picked up Dwyer (boring) do u think Cunningham is a better add…alot of talk this morning of Stacy losing job to Cunningham…which route would you go?…my RB’s now are Gore, Ellington, Rice, Moreno, Hyde, Dwyer and Freeman… with the loss of Ellington my RB’s suck.

    • my sisters friend boyfriend says:
      (link)

@my sisters friend boyfriend: I picked up Gordon yesterday only to drop him for Dwyer today lol

      • my sisters friend boyfriend says:
        (link)

@Jay: thanks….I had to get dwyer…just in case Ellington is seriously hurt even tho reports are coming out now that he may play…I mean Dwyer wasnt horrible in Pittsburgh he did average like 4.something yards per carry in the times he played….man cause of the last two years and seeing lots more of a passing league now and were seeing more RB’s by committee I sacraficed the RB position to get good recievers…I hope it was the right strategy but Possibly losing Ellington my best RB would be a big blow.

  26. Robby D says:
    (link)

Ok, so Zack Miller wasn’t relevant for fantasy, but as a second string tight end he made 3 solid catches, especially the one handed grab. I don’t get the Raiders shot unless your saying the Raiders trade away good players because they don’t recognize the value. I wish the Cardinals had a first string tight end that was as good as Miller, It’s been a black hole for a decade or more.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Robby D: yeah, you got it. Not fantasy relevent, but he’s a solid football tight end, for sure.

    • Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season says:

@Robby D: Miller is 1st string TE at SEA.

  27. CL says:

Jay: As a Zac Stacy owner, you think I ought to pickup Cunningham for a short bench and dump either Jeremy Hill or Bradshaw, or just see what happens? 1pt PPR.

    Grazie.

@CL: I’m not worried. Let’s see what happens this Sunday.

  28. Velocity_X says:

.5 PPR – Need to fill a second flex spot. Originally had Pierre Thomas in, but I can also swap him for some of my bench guys like Moreno (vs. NE), Kelvin Benjamin (@ TB), or Sammy Watkins (@ CHI).

I think Moreno and Benjamin are tempting choices, but both are in more unknown situations.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Velocity_X: yeah, I’d rather stick with Thomas.

      Jay says:

@drew: not crazy, but I’m not doing it.

  30. paul says:

Maybe too late for a response…do you think it’d be worth it to drop Amedola (or McCluster or James Jones) to grab Dwyer, in order to possibly replace Ellington? The only other available RB I have is McCluster (I have Charles in the other active RB spot).

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@paul: I’m okay dropping McC there, but I’d rather you hold and see what happens.

West or Dwyer for my bench?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@L-Boogie: right now, Dwyer probably. But if Ellington is healthy, I’d rather have West.

  32. mr fungi says:

drop amendola, baldwin, nicks or hartline for gordon?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@mr fungi: hmm, let’s say Baldwin.

  33. Wilsonian says:

You dropping either Pitta, Latimer, Woodhead, or L.Miller for Dwyer right now, or hold?

    0.5 PPR

  34. Sal says:
    (link)

Just Picked up Dywer in a Standard yahoo league. The plan was to start AP and Ellington, but with the news not sure that will happen anymore. However I have Vareen, who has been a disaster every time he takes on Miami. So in your opinion, would you play Ap and Vareen or wait until Monday and hope Ellington plays and if not settle for Dywer, who might sneak in a TD since he was already the goal line back?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Sal: I’d wait on Ellington there.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Sal: actually, from what I’m seeing, go Vereen.

  35. BDubs says:

Reggie Bush, Joique Bell, Kendall Wright….

    Pick 2, full PPR.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

      @BDubs: Bush, Wright.

  36. Dung says:

Well looks like Ellington is out. Pick one in Flex/PPR. Note I have Vereen as one of my other RB’s.

Edelman, Cord Patterson or Dwyer? Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Dung: Edelman.

Having a bit of anxiety in my big money auction league. Got into a bidding war early for Gio and won him at $41 (for comparison, M Ball went for 46, Lacy 59, Forte 57, Shady 67, Charles 59, AP 63, Ellington 40, Murray 45, all early) only to see potential bargains Beast Mode (43), Vereen (who I love this year, 17), R. Jennings (23), and D Martin (38) go later.

    My current roster is:
    QB – Rodgers
    RB – Murray
    RB – Gio
    WR – Dez
    WR – Torrey Smith
    Flex – Ruben Randle
    TE – Gates
BN – J. Stewart, Jennings, T. Austin, Dunbar, Michael, and taking a flier on Josh Gordon until the HGH testing decision comes in
    K – Tucker
    DST – Philadelphia, GB

Don’t love my depth and honestly am not that confident in Gio meeting expectations this season. Trying to put together a Gio based package while enthusiasm is still high for him and definitely need some advice on these potential deals. Thanks in advance!

    Gio/T. Austin for Vereen/D. Hopkins
    or
    Gio/Gates/Stewart/T.Austin for Ingram/Dwyer/J. Reed/J. Hunter
    or
    Gio/Jennings for D. Martin/Wheaton

    Thoughts?

    • Rocky says:
      (link)

      @Rocky: .5 PPR, btw…

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Rocky: Teams okay, not crazy about your flex, but I wouldn’t do any of those trades to be honest. I think you could do better.

  38. Tim says:
    (link)

So I’m considering taking the flier on Gordon… The problem is this league has has some restrictions. Six receivers total, must have one rookie rookie and one sophomore. My receiver core is Nelson, Julio Jones, Keenan, Michael Floyd, Dobson, Watkins. Any of those worth dropping for Gordon. 10 team ppr

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Tim: I’d probably drop Dobson here.

  39. Sange76 says:

    Dude. I trust you, bro….
    Who do I start?
Kaepernick vs Dallas or Cutler vs. Buffalo at Qb?
Zac Stacey or Joique bell at the flex?

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Sange76: I would go Kap by a hair, and Stacy.

are Nick and Sky ok? i last saw them in STL on tuesday night, and no STL/KC updates yet. bunch of Gordon questions and assorted other stuff
    1. PPR 12 team with 2 RB/3 WR/1 TE no flex.
    Charles/Bell/Ridley/Woodhead/D.Williams
    A.Brown/Garcon/Wright/T.Austin/Wayne/J.Jones
    Rudolph
    A. Gordon worth dropping J.Jones/T.Austin for him (don’t know if in yahoo suspended guys are IR stashable or not)
    B. You believing in this T.Wright hype enough to drop J.Jones for him?
    C. you worried enough about Bell or Lacy to grab Archer or Starks over any/either of DWill/Ridley? Some around here really think a guy with no NFL priors will be suspended.

    2. PPR with .1 pts per return yard. 2 WR/2 RB/1 TE/ 1 flex
    murray/stacy/c.johnson/ivory/freeman/mcfadden
    julio/patterson/wright/j.jones (BAL)/stills
    pitta
i’m guessing in this one i don’t have a drop for gordon. jacoby is no bit player in this much return yardage league.

    • Montezuma's Revenge... right now says:
      (link)

@Montezuma’s Revenge… right now: also, in #2, better off with mcfadden or handcuffing stacy with cunningham?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Montezuma’s Revenge… right now: I think so? I’ve seen em on twitter, so, at the very least, they are alive. And yeah, I’ve fine dropping Austin for Gordon. If you need a TE, that’s okay, but I’m not champing at the bits for him. I’m okay keeping Williams and Ridly as depth.

I’m actually okay dropping McFadden for Gordon here.

      • Montezuma's Revenge... right now says:

@Jay: in league from question 1 got beat by higher waiver, will try to drop Run DMC for Gordon in league 2 tonight.

  41. friar says:

    Hi Jay,

I need some help managing my WR corp. I’m in a 12-team non-PPR league and got caught on the wrong side of a WR run during the draft, leaving me some great value at other positions, but grasping at straws for WRs. I have a few guys on suspension who might come back to help in the next few weeks, but in the meantime I’m juggling options trying to find guys who can (a) keep me afloat, and (b) have the chance to break out and be every-week starters.

With that in mind, would you recommend I pick up Anquan Boldin and drop any of my existing WRs? Also, which 2 of the guys listed below (or Boldin) would you recommend I start this week? Thanks!

    Torrey Smith
    Rueben Randle
    Kelvin Benjamin
    Justin Hunter
    (Wes Welker)
    (Dwayne Bowe)
    (Josh Gordon)

    • Montezuma's Revenge... right now says:
      (link)

@friar: rankings cover the 2nd question. randle/boldin if you pick up boldin. but if you don’t it’s randle/smith, but smith is only 1 spot over hunter.

      • friar says:
        (link)

@Montezuma’s Revenge… right now: Thanks! Any advice on the first question? Boldin could be in for a big week against the awful Dallas D (potentially even as the #1 receiver if Crabtree’s held out or limited), but given the fragility of my WR situation, I don’t want to make a move for one week if it means giving up someone with a better chance of helping me long term.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@friar: Monte’s got the starters. And yeah, I’d probably drop Bowe for Boldin if you are playing matchups this weekend,

Hey Jay, With Reeds finger issue still lingering still starting him over Rudolph?

Also, Drop Moreno or Sankey for Dwyer?

    My Team –

    Qb – Ryan
WR – Nelson, Cruz, A. Johnson, Wright, Wayne and J. Gordon
RB – Lacy, Stacy, Tate, Sankey and Moreno
    TE- Reed, Rudolph
    K- NONE
    DEF- STL

If we find out that Gordon will play this season by Sunday morning who is the drop? If we don’t find out by Sunday morning who do I drop to add a Kicker? or do I go kickerless this week and take the loss? If you look at my post on your Seattle vs Green Bay blog you will see my H2H matchup.

This is a Standard redraft team.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: There right next to each other, so it’s okay to flip a coin there. I wouldn’t mind dropping Moreno.

  43. SMLV1 says:
    (link)

For my other team – MJD, S. Jackson, Ridley, Miller, P. Thomas, Hyde, Sproles, Hill, Woodhead, D. Williams, Blount, Bradshaw or Dwyer? For this season.

    Standard redraft as well

    • Jay

      Jay says:

      @SMLV1: MJD.

  44. T-Bone says:
    (link)

Last pick in my 16 team PPR 6 pt pass TD, got stuck on the wrong end of a QB run, settled with Jake Locker. Trade him and Julio Jones for Tony Romo and Victor Cruz, or Locker and DeMarco Murray for Matty Ice or Newton and Andre Ellington? My other RB’s are Chris Johnson, Sproles, Helu, McCluster and Cunningham.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@T-Bone: I’m okay trading for a better QB, but I don’t like those deals. I would hold. And Locker may surprise you.

  45. SMLV1 says:

Stacy or Tate at RB? Standard redraft league. Worried about Cunningham taking Stacys carries?

    • Jay

      Jay says:

No, I think Stacy is the guy. And Stacy.
