With the first week in the books, let’s see who you can pick up to try and help you out from our friend, the waiver wire.  The percentage in the parenthesis next to the player with be the percentage unowned in ESPN leagues.  That saves me the hassle of writing ‘Available in 96% of ESPN leagues’ over and over.  Thanks me.

Alfred Morris, WSH RB (85%) Morris took the lead back role in Washington so far. Morris put up strong numbers in the Redskins’ win over New Orleans (28-96-2TDs). Washington has a tasty matchup with St Louis this week so Morris could go off again.

Patriots D/ST (83%) – New England’s defense held Titans’ running back Chris Johnson to 4 rushing yards on 11 carries. Add to that a sack, fumble, touchdown play in the second quarter and the Patriots make a good defense to pick up off the wire. And they host woeful Arizona this week.

Stephen Hill NYJ WR (95%) – Hill scored a couple touchdowns as the Jets thrashed the Bills in week one. We’re not sure if the aerial assault continues against Pittsburgh but Mark Sanchez may need someone to throw to either way.

Randall Cobb GB WR (99%) – Worth a look in the Packers’ short week before they play the Bears Thursday night. Cobb picked up 75 yards receiving and is always dangerous as a kick returner. With Greg Jennings suffering from a groin injury, Cobb might be in line to step up and take the #2 spot across from Jordy Nelson.

Greg Zuerlein STL K (95%) – Yes, it’s a kicker. Zuerlein hit a trio of field goals in the Rams’ close-shave loss to Detroit. The man called “Greg the Leg” will also add a bunch of bonus points for long-distance field goals so give the rookie for the Rams a shot.

Matt Hasselbeck TEN QB (99%) – Hasselback is listed here since Jake Locker dinged up his shoulder against the Patriots trying to make a tackle. The injury isn’t going to keep Locker on the sidelines for this week’s game against San Diego. Hasselbeck is worth a stash if Locker continues to play the way he does.

Dexter McCluster KC RB-WR (95%) – McCluster didn’t get a carry against Atlanta but was involved in the passing game because of the score. He’s a sneaky option as the Chiefs visit Buffalo in week two.

Danny Amendola STL WR (83%) – Amendola is a must-own in PPR formats. Simply said. The Rams will likely trail in most games this season and Sam Bradford will need someone to throw to and Brandon Lloyd is no longer available.

Marcedes Lewis JAX TE (96%) – He was the fantasy darling at tight end two years ago and maybe he’s on his way back to that perch again. Lewis finished with 2 catches for 55 yards a touchdown against Minnesota. Look for QB Blaine Gabbert to look more to his 6-foot-6 tight end to cause matchup problems for the rest of the season.

Andrew Hawkins CIN WR (100%) – Caught 8 passes for 86 yards last night for the Bengals.  Sky talked about him a bit in the Monday Night Football post and I have to agree with him.  Namely because I’m the one who handed him the sharpie.  You have to click on that link to make sense of what I just said.
