Every time that we start to wonder about how good the Texans are, they come out and have an impressive performance. The Jaguars historically play really well in London games, but the Watt-less Texans still lived in Minshew’s grill. Minshew followed up a great game against the Jets the previous week with a stinker against a defense that is susceptible to the passing game. The Jaguars will head into the bye and have to decide if Foles is going to take his job back. If I were the Jags, I’d be putting Foles back under center. The last wild card spot in the AFC might only require 9 wins. The division crown is definitely an uphill climb after dropping both games against the division-leading Texans, but getting to 9 wins is definitely in play.

The early games had some key injuries to the fantasy football world. Jacoby Brissett left the game against the Steelers in the second quarter with an MCL injury. Adam Thielen tried to give it a go with his bum hamstring, but he didn’t make it out of the first quarter. DeSean Jackson’s return in his first game since week 1 was short lived as he left early with an abdomen injury. Here is what else I saw during the early slate of games on Sunday.

Performance Checks

  • Leonard Fournette was up to his 3.something YPC ways on Sunday. In his defense, the Texans are actually pretty decent against the run.
  • Carlos Hyde ran wild against the Jaguars who are pretty susceptible to the run. He carried it 19 times for 160 yards but couldn’t find the endzone.
  • A.J. Bouye didn’t let DeAndre Hopkins find any room on his 8 catches. He was only able to turn a big volume day into 48 yards. Hopkins did score a touchdown so the yardage was the only real negative.
  • I thought it would be Kenny Stills’ time to shine with Will Fuller being out. He had 4 catches for 52 yards on Sunday and didn’t do much the previous week.
  • Deshaun Watson is the MVP at this point. He just does an incredible job of reviving dead plays and making a lot out of bad situations. Sunday was no exception. The yardage total wasn’t much to write home about, but he did find Fells (again) and Hopkins for touchdowns.
  • Chris Conley and DJ Chark ended up with 32 yards a piece. I thought there was too much smoke being blown up Conley’s rectum, but Chark too? Sad!
  • Despite a couple of drops, John Brown did catch 4 balls for 76 yards. Beasley caught Josh Allen’s lone touchdown pass.
  • Devin Singletary finally got his chance to get a lot of touches and turned it into 140 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. If Singletary can get 23 touches on a regular basis, days like this could end up being a regular occurrence.
  • It sounds like Cam Newton is still far away from returning and Kyle Allen was fine this week. Allen wasn’t terribly efficient, but he ended up with 232 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
  • DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel both had good days. Samuel caught a touchdown pass and Moore went for over 100 yards.
  • Christian McCaffrey only had 20 receiving yards. What a bum. Oh never mind, he ran for 146 yards and had 3 total touchdowns. My bad guys.
  • Derrick Henry had two touchdowns of his own and 99 total yards.
  • Damien Williams had 12 of the Chiefs 18 carries because LeSean McCoy is in Andy Reid’s doghouse. Williams capitalized with a 91 yard touchdown scamper and 125 yards on the ground.
  • Travis Kelce has been solid, but he just hasn’t lived up to his draft price. Even when Mahomes was healthy, business was a little slower than usual. 7 catches for 62 yards and no touchdowns on Sunday.
  • Tyreek Hill doesn’t need Mahomes. 6 catches for 140 yards and another touchdown. He’s unstoppable.
  • A day when Dalvin Cook is contained still means that he gets over 100 all-purpose yards.
  • Laquon Treadwell has been getting some love the last couple of weeks. This week he caught 3 passes for 58 yards on 5 targets.
  • It was looking like Darnold was trending towards a good day, but he fell flat on his face. The injured thumb is probably not helping anything.
  • Jamison Crowder caught 8 of his 9 targets for 83 yards and a touchdown. He is Adam Gase’s new Jarvis Landry. Tons of volume, not a lot of yards.
  • Le’Veon can’t buy a touchdown lately. He’s still holding his own in PPR leagues, but not for his draft day price.
  • Preston Williams has been fantastic. He looked to have injured his midsection but came back into the game. He caught 4 balls for 72 yards and 2 touchdowns. He’s a solid play if you’re dealing with bye or depth issues.
  • Mike Gesicki is breaking out, folks! He caught all 6 of his targets for 95 yards.
  • Neither Walton or Ballage were effective at all. Mark Walton took 12 of the 19 running back carries.
  • Mitch Trubisky – 10/21, 125 yards. No touchdowns.
  • David Montgomery’s stock continues to climb as his usage does. 76 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns is a continued step in the right direction. If you held on, it is finally paying off.
  • Carson Wentz is barely startable. It’s not in vain. The Eagles are winning football games again, and they have 2 pretty good running backs. 239 yards and 1 touchdown really doesn’t cut it for fantasy football though.
  • Zach Ertz made his owners happy for once! Ertz caught 9 of his 11 targets for 103 yards and a touchdown. Perhaps he’s looking at a 2nd half turnaround.
  • Jaylen Samuels wasn’t able to get anything going on the ground, but he did catch 13 freakin’ passes for 73 yards. He ended up being a pretty good play in PPR outside of the fumble.
  • Brian Hoyer was pretty solid filling in for Brissett. There’s a good chance that Hoyer will get the start this upcoming week against the Dolphins. He will obviously be a top streaming option if Brissett is ruled out.
  • Zach Pascal stepped up nicely with T.Y. Hilton out. Pascal caught 5 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. He should definitely be in your lineup against Miami if T.Y. ends up missing more time.

Hey MB this week 9 wasn’t good lol!

At this point in the season it’s crunch time I’m looking to shake things up due to some under performing players, etc.

I received these 2 offers I just want your opinion.

1.) I deal OBJ + Tevin Coleman I get Josh Jacobs , this one I’m leaning no

2.) I deal OBJ + waller I get Emmanuel Sanders + Josh Jacobs , this one intrigues me because I get a stud RB + Emmanuel Sanders who I think will thrive with jimmy G. Downside I lose the fantasy top 3 TE. Best available TEs are Darren fells , Doyle, ebron, brate, Fant, witten, hollister, Jonnu Smith, Goedert.

Now for ideas that I have:

3.) deal OBJ to get Mark Ingram-+ Robby Anderson?

4.) deal my OBJ + jaylen Samuels to the Connor owner to get Chris Godwin + Matthew Stafford? He has 3 QBs & all three after week 9 already had their byes: he has brees, Lamar Jackson, Stafford. I need a week 11 QB with Wilson having a bye .

5.) or just offer jaylen Samuels for Stafford?

** I was thinking streaming jimmy G for week 11 he gets the cards if I don’t trade for a QB**

6.) deal my jaylen Samuels to Connor owner to get Marvin Jones or Allen Robinson? I was thinking Robinson may be easier to acaquire , he also has Hollywood brown too

My RBs are DJ (coming back soon?), cook, Tevin Coleman, David Montgomery, Mattison, Edmonds, Walton, Samuels

My WRs are OBJ, thielen, Josh Gordon, mvs, Amendola, dionte Johnson, Watkins

    My TE is waller

    My QB Wilson

** regardless if I trade or not would you cut or hold Walton, Amendola, MVS? Thanks man have a great one!

I’d honestly trade Samuels for Stafford and see what you can get for OBJ

Looking ahead, would you use a number one waiver claim on Josh Gordon?

Yeah, he probably has the highest upside out there

I gotta win out in order to even attempt to make it to the playoffs. Here’s the RB/WRs

    Adams, OBJ, DJ Moore, Kirk
Michel, Derrick Henry, Mattison, Lat Murray, Henderson, Penny

Would I be giving away too much in this trade

    My OBJ and Mattison for
His Mike Williams and Shady. (He’s the Cook owner in our league)

    • eballs says:

Or would you rather do Mixon for OBJ straight up

        I don’t want Mixon

lost p-will in 12 team super flex PPR (keep 4 per year no round costs). i already had WR injury issues all year (fuller, d.adams, dede (who sounds back this week at least and i got lucky just happening to have pascal right when his value shot up with hilton out))

    1. add deebo or a.wilson or one of reynolds (cooks sounds fine though), agholor, cole (would be dropped when dede is back). i have this:

    QB: wentz, trubisky, rudolph
RB (2) AAron, mack, wilkins, d-wash (can be dropped for ty mont or edmunds, sounds like bell could be hurt, but somebody’ll likely over bid me on those if news about bell gets bigger tomorrow), lindsay, burkhead
    WR (3): adams, c.davis, pascal, j.brown, p.will, harry
TE (1): kelce, hock, herndon (from the 2 regular flexes i can use 2 of these and they seem better than a lot of the FA WR’s for sure)
    2 regular flexes
    1 super flex
    IR (3): fuller, dede

    2. guessing with that crappy crop of FA WR outside of dropping p.will for somebody i should hold hock/herndon or should i drop one of them when dede is back (probably this week). could also drop d-wash for dede when he’s back (but my RB depth isn’t good, only 3 guys i’d want to start at all without an injury to somebody).

      3. for different PPR league, mckissic over gore or ty-jo?

        I’d go with McKissic

I’m adding Albert Wilson out of that group.

I’m not big on Dede so you can hold off there.

already have dede in the 1st spot. his “out” tag will expire in a few hours, but i can input claims for wed 11 AM before that for usage in week 10 (plus somebody else can go out before that). i figured a.wilson (from p-will out) or reynolds (cooks sounds out for a bit more) was the guy here, even with deebo getting 7 targets and some runs last week.
