This is huge news.  Moreno was injured in practice, but we have no idea how bad it is.  McDaniels may go to his grave with that information.  Knowshon was set up for a good game against the weak Indianapolis rush defense, but it now looks like Correll Buckhalter and Laurence Maroney will see most of the work.  Maroney was inactive last week after being traded from the Patriots, but he has practiced this week.  I’m looking for a 50/50 split, but it really depends on how comfortable McDaniels is with Maroney.  In a game where they Broncos will probably be starting two rookie cornerbacks against Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon the Broncos will probably be throwing the ball.  A lot.

But no matter, Maroney is a must add.  It is speculative at this point, but if he is available, grab him. (Update: Moreno’s injury is to his hamstring and not the one he had a partial tear in early in the season.  With Moreno’s trouble Maroney is still a good add, but now the chances of him starting next week are slimmer)

I would upgrade Orton, Buckhalter, Maroney, Thomas, Gaffney and Royal since all will be getting more work this week.  Maroney is a question mark at this point and I doubt Josh will be answering too many questions, but since he should be getting goal line carries he is worth a start, depending on your league’s depth.

  1. Occh says:

    You think Andre Brown might get in the mix? No doubt the guy has skill and with Maroney’s inconsistency and Buckhalter being Buckhalter I can see this guy providing some value down the road.

  2. Alex says:

    Ugh right when he was getting a juicy matchup.

    I own both Maroney and Percy Harvin in a 12 team .5 ppr league. Which one do I start in flex?

    (Thanks to you I have Moss/Roddy/Quan Quan and Best/Moreno/McFadden, with a side helping of CUTLAH and Carlson.)

  3. Alex says:

    My gut is saying McDaniels will want to showcase Maroney to stick it to Belichick, especially against the worst run D in the league. Especially with Maroney’s history with McDaniels.

    But then again, since Maroney is coming off an injury he’ll probably get committeed.

    Percy was getting fed the ball before he got hurt last week, was bouncy in practice yesterday, and is against the 3rd worst yardage pass D in the Lions. I’ll go with him.

  4. Plainville says:

    Orton or Vick?

  5. Doc

    Doc says:

    @Occh: Yeah, he’s worth looking at in really deep leagues.

    @Alex: Harvin

    @Plainville: Vick

    (Update: Moreno’s injury is to his hamstring and not the one he had a partial tear in early in the season. With Moreno’s trouble Maroney is still a good add, but now the chances of him starting next week are slimmer)

  6. TRADE says:

    Do you think this trade looks fair?

    I give DMC/R Mathews/Knox for his MJD/Dez Bryant

    10 team non PPR

  7. dja says:

    i was planning on starting moreno on my 10 team 3wr/2rb league

    would you rather replace him with:

    shonn greene

    or grab buckhalter of waivers?

  8. timSTi says:

    @Doc: Tomlinson or Buckhalter for my flex in a .5 ppr?

  9. BP says:

    Would you rather start Buckhalter or Maroney (for this week only)?

  10. Eric Belair says:

    Good article.

  11. Doc

    Doc says:

    @TRADE: This one is killing me! I like both DMC and Mathews, but they have iffy futures. MJD is the prize of the group of course. I see Knox and Dez about even, so it’s the 2 RBs for the 1. I think it’s a fair trade and as long as you think it fills out your starting lineup I’d go for it.

    @dja: Deangelo

  12. ken plane says:

    Doc – 12 team non-ppr- Start Bowe, S. Smith(NYG) or Dez Bryant?

  13. AdamH says:

    With Mathews out as well, that leaves my choices for flex (0.5 PPR) to be:

    Donald Brown
    Fred Jackson
    Jacoby Jones

  14. AdamH says:

    Or Maroney if I can get him off waivers.

  15. Doc

    Doc says:

    @ken plane: Bryant

    @AdamH: hmm, leaning Maroney, but it’s risky

  16. timSTi says:

    @Doc: Pick 2 out of these 3 in a .5ppr. Thanks.

    Beanie Wells, Buckhalter, Tomlinson.

  17. AdamH says:

    Thanks Doc. Got a #2 option in case I lose out on Maroney?

  18. Doc

    Doc says:

    @timSTi: Bucky and Tomlinson

    @AdamH: Jones

  19. alvaro says:

    I have Ryan Matthews out

    Who Do i Start at RB3? (with Portis at RB2)
    Forsett or Buckhalter?

  20. mike says:

    Buckhalter or Maroney for one week only???

  21. djbooyah20 says:

    Vick or Romo this week? Really tempted to go with Vick. Dallas hasn’t showed me anything this year – waste of a pick on Felix Jones.

    Also, Need 2 Rbs, 2 WRs, Flex, and TE out of this mess:
    K. Walter
    Derrick Mason
    Winslow and Celek

    Also need trade advice, traded Chester Taylor away for Vincent Jackson hoping he’d be back for game 5 and we all know how that worked out. My RBs consist of Carnell Williams, McFadden, Jones-Drew, and Felix Jones. Haven’t been able to come up with any possible trade. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  22. Randy says:

    Better add for the season… Buckhalter or Maroney?

  23. Doc

    Doc says:

    @alvaro: Portis is questionable right now, but is in the early game so you’ll know before you have to set your lineup. I’d go with Forsett if you can choose.

    @mike: Maroney

    @djbooyah20: Going with Roo. Houston’s pass D is giving up chunks.

    @djbooyah20: MJD, McFad, DJax, BMarsh, Celek

    @Randy: Maroney

  24. swingkungfu says:

    so i just picked up clayton. should i start clayton over boldin?

    also, is dropping flacco to pick up orton off the wire while i also have mike vick a wise move?

  25. Doc

    Doc says:

    @swingkungfu: I would start Boldin. I see Orton and Flacco as about even. I think Flacco will turn things around.

  26. frolfer says:

    PPR with 1 pt per carry for RB’s
    lost moreno, who should I replace him with this week?

    Shonn Green @ MIA
    Ricky Williams @ NYJ
    Donald Brown @ Den
    Maroney @ IND

    Thanks in advance Doc!

  27. Dutch J says:

    Thomas Jones or Maroney?

  28. DutchJ says:

    I posted already but don’t see it up, Maroney or T Jones?

  29. friar says:

    Who would you play in a 0.5 PPR flex spot this week: Buckhalter or D. Thomas? I could also drop either one for Fred Taylor, but the NE running situation makes me nervous.

  30. Doc

    Doc says:

    @frolfer: Going with Greene.

    @Dutch J: Maroney

    @friar: Yeah, Going with Bucky.

  31. Joe says:

    Which one of these doesn’t belong on my bench? PPR, return yardage.

    B. Scott
    M. Bush
