Because of the bye period (which sounds like a LIT-History course at a San Francisco community college) and a frighteningly exciting game (for those of you who were awake) in London, we only have two games this afternoon. The first is my Chargers taking on the Raiders, or the RAIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAHHHHS if you like the cut of Chris Berman’s jib, and seeing as how I highlighted the Chargers afternoon match-up against the Packers last weekend, today’s focus will be on the always derp-filled NFC East rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. I have to say, I remember when the NFC East used to be fondly referred to the “NFC Beast”, mainly because of the division’s focus on the running game and building a team to win in the trenches. Of course, Washington was terrible during this period as well, but little did anyone know at the time that this long-forgotten strategy would be twisted and manipulated and morphed over time into what we have today. The complete opposite. But one things for sure… Washington… Washington never changes. Today’s game once again features a battle for first place, something I’ve been mentioning the past five weeks for any NFC East team, seeing as how no team actually wants it. So how will the Cowboys and Giants end up both losing today? (More possible than you think.) Let’s find out!

  • Looks like Antionio Gates is not a go from a MCL sprain, Ladarius Green is the guy, and should have a fair amount of opportunities with San Diego’s run game being more like a walk game.
  • Related news for this game, Melvin Gordon was surprise scratch and is now listed as OUT. This puts the running game solely on the tiny shoulders of Danny Woodhead and Brandon Oliver.
  • Christine Michael is expected to play a big role in today’s offense, but as you can see from my rankings, I just don’t buy it yet.

man, these week is completely filled with utter media inaccuracies with stuff such as
    1. all week “dion lewis is fine and will play for sure”
    2. “maclin will play as long as he passes his concussion protocols”. he did that 2 days ago and yesterday. this one actually helped me it was wrong, but still
    3. yeldon “VERY likely to not play with groin strain”. yeah ok, has his 2nd best (or maybe 1st) game
    4. and the worst one, for over 10 days we’ve heard
“michael after the bye will be getting 1st team reps”
“michael will be “substantially” increased in his role on offense”
these slowly died from those down to
“randle is still our starter” (but this was last night)
and now lucky F’ing whitehead is getting carries
this leaves us the unlucky F’ing whiteheads, feeling we should’ve been popped.

@Jay: in one team i help i couldn’t get to a computer in time, so dion lewis started, and since i played jennings over r.matthews i’m getting screamed at. Had i seen in time matthews would’ve been in. Standard league and Jennings was ranked way ahead of Matthews (by everybody). oh yeah, that team is 4th overall in pts, but is 0-6, is still likely to win this week though somehow. allen/jennings/ARI kicker/palmer only need like 27 more pts.

@Jay: now that a.williams has finally proven much worse than jennings they found some other guy to take his carries?!

@Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season: the c.michael one is really annoying, does his agent like own some of the media or something, how did that stuff even get out there? Or is he just like mentally handicapped or something and just stops in the middle of a play and stare out at space? These teams need to STOP using media blurbs to give their players confidence or whatever they are doing with this meaningless crap. All it is is trolling fantasy players. I’ve been saying this for awhile but we fantasy players (now that the market actually likes us, i.e. daily) need to union up and give NFL teams a reason to actually tell the truth with their players roles/injuries etc.

oh wait he just got an actual carry.

@Jay: ok, if it’s the coaches fault, they need to actually have something happen when they troll us with lies made up likely only to up his confidence level. He had 2 carries once before this, so “upping his role in offense” could mean 3 carries. It does make me sick as i would’ve never played Jennings over Matthews, except with A.Will proving to be awful even NYG figured out for at least 2 weeks to give Jennings carries, and carries of course makes a RB get ranked highly in standards for sure. Don’t feel too bad i dropped Jennings in a PPR a few weeks back though. Not that it’s helping Vereen or anything.

ok, for PPR, if i already have 4 WR and 4 RB and at least one open roster spot , we start 2 RB and 2 WR with 1 flex (two spots if gates comes back, i grabbed Green, and Ebron out there, but i can’t assume Gates is fine yet) what’s best order of
    darkwing duck/crabtree/spiller/s.johnson/woods/walters/hankerson/mike floyd/royal

@Christine Michael: one Unlucky Whitehead (just pop him or not): I’d say either Crabtree or Johnson if you need something viable, though, I think Spiller is still kinda interesting. I think Crabtree might be useful.

Though, if it’s for Monday night, I do have Floyd ranked moderately higher than most.

@Jay: nah, ROS here. Unless Catman Kicker gets 19.55 picking up Green won it.

@Christine Michael: one Unlucky Whitehead (just pop him or not): Yahoo’s basic understanding of simple math is a joke. No matter how unlikely it is that Catanzaro gets 19.55 or more it’s still higher than 0%. 0% by definition means it’s impossible, and that’s what Yahoo says for my opponent. So if Catanzaro gets 20 pts do i still win as it’s impossible according to them that i could lose, since i’m 100% to win now?

@Jay: well yeah, but this one a little kid would understand is stupid.
“mom, would simple probability fail, or would Yahoo break the internet if my fantasy opp’s kicker got 20 pts and did the impossible”
“yes dear, it’s best not to think about it, have some of this sugary treat”

wait a minute, i see from above that gordon was listed as “out”, but i thought when they did that i guy COULDN’T play, he got carries in the 2nd half.

    Hey Jay,
You’ve helped so much in the past, but with Foster going down earlier today, thought I’d ask another questions this evening. After I lost Charles, I traded away AJ Green for Foster & Garcon, without taking another season ending injury into account. I felt comfortable with the trade since my WR’s remaining were ARob, Evans, JBrown, Diggs, Crabtree & Garcon. My other RB is Ingram, but now I have to put out some feelers on a RB1/2. I don’t mind sending any of my WR’s away for the right RB that I can rely on for the rest of the year. What do you think about going after the following in one for one trades: Either Murray, Yeldon, Gore, Forsett, Woodhead, JStew, Hyde, West, Abdullah, Hillman? As always, thanks for advice & your entertaining approach.

@Damien: i lost foster and charles in a 10 teamer too, but this league i mention is filled with bums so i still have candleabra west/forsett/l.murray and i’ll go try to grab stewart or somebody else.

@Damien: I’d target Forsett, he’s flying under the radar, and maybe a Diggs and something gets him.
