The legalization of sports betting has been reaching new states seemingly every day. Michigan is one of the newest states to join the party. Michigan is trying to go live before the end of the NFL season. Michigan sports betting is slated to go live on November 15th, 2020. On this date, three of the biggest US sportsbooks should be launching their live betting for The Great Lakes State. DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, and BetMGM Sportsbook will all be allowed to begin taking bets. New York Jets Win Total Under 2.5
Right now on DraftKings, you can get the Jets to win 2 games or below at -129. There is no way that I am not taking that deal. The Jets had made it obvious that they are tanking the season. Management decided to cut the best offensive weapon on the team, Le’Veon Bell, and eat $6 million in dead cap. This is all because Adam Gase did not get along with him. The ownership is keeping Gase around because he cannot win games. No self-respecting coach would tank a season, so the best alternative is to get a coach who cannot win a game if he tries. The Jets will either go winless or somehow pull off a miracle win late in the season due to a complete collapse of the other team. However, there is no way that this group of players led by Adam Gase could win three games.
On DraftKings, you can also get the enticing bet of the Jets going 0-16 for +480. For me, this seems like a great value. It is hard to go 0-16 but for +480 I would take it. I would give this about a 40% chance of it happening. They have one of the toughest schedules in the league and would somehow have to pull off an upset against Miami or a team that is not playing for anything late in the season. I do not see either happening. Throw some money on this and ride the Adam Gase wave of mediocrity.
Los Angeles Chargers Win Total Over 6.5
I think that this Chargers team is much better than what they have displayed. Also, the fact that Justin Herbert looks like a legitimate star in the NFL is helping out with this bet. Currently, at 1 win, there are plenty of gimmies left on the schedule, including the Jets and Falcons. With those victories secured I believe that the Chargers, at the very least, split wins with the Broncos and Raiders. This leaves them with 5 wins. They could easily beat the Dolphins, Bills, Jaguars, or sweep either of those two series we just talked about. This gets them past 6.5 wins with ease.
At +100 on FanDuel, I am willing to bet on that defense and Justin Herbert, despite the poor start. 7-9 should not be hard to achieve for a team with this kind of talent and schedule. They barely lost to the Chiefs and then had a rough patch against the NFC South teams, two of which were against HOF QBs on the road. They are set up for a good run of form as their young QB hones his talents with every start.
Las Vegas Raiders to Make the Playoffs
On FanDuel you can get +114 on the Raiders making the playoffs. I have that as a resounding yes. At 3-2 they have already played some of their toughest games like the Saints, Bills, Patriots, and Chiefs. In those games, they went 2-2. With the expanded playoffs it is not going to take a ton to get in. First, give the Raiders two lock-in wins against the Jets and Falcons. You are already up to 5 wins total and probably will only need to get 4 or 5 more wins out of the remaining 9 games to make playoffs. That is a subpar .500 record in those remaining games, which will include many matchups against teams that they should be favored against, such as the Chargers twice, the Broncos twice, and the Dolphins.
I like what Jon Gruden has built in Vegas. The team looks electric on offense and Carr is playing some of the best ball of his career. On defense, he has a bunch of guys who fight and grind their way to victories. It is a team that is easy to root for and has a clear-cut path to the playoffs. I would also take the over on the 8.5 win total at -135 on FanDuel.
