Week 6 DraftKings Main Slate – Optimal Lineup Plays

I like to start every week with a quick recap to see how we did the previous week. Week 4 wasn’t great, but in Week 5, we had a monster week!  If you used these lineup suggestions, you very likely made the pay line and won some matchups.

As I mentioned last week, follow/check in on X for any important updates that could impact lineup decisions. When Amon-Ra St. Brown was ruled out, I tweeted that Sam LaPorta was my favorite TE play. This ended up paying great dividends.

A lineup consisting of Matthew Stafford, Breece Hall, De’Von Achane, Ja’Marr Chase, Tyreek Hill, Josh Reynolds, Josh Downs, LaPorta, Saints put up 241.08 points. The million-dollar winner had 259.18, which puts us in striking distance. Our pay-down options at RB, WR, and TE provided great value to allow us to get studs in our lineup.

The goal is to get better each week, so let’s get after it for Week 6.

I don’t love too many of the top QB/RB options this week, so I think our resources will be better utilized paying up at the WR position. Although, my favorite start this week is an RB!

Quarter Back

Matthew Stafford $6100 (vs. ARI) – Matthew Stafford had two TD passes in his first game with Kupp back. Now he faces an Arizona defense that was torched by Burrow/Chase last week.

Joe Burrow $6300 (vs. SEA) – This play is with the hopes that Burrow got his MOJO back last week. He could get Tee Higgins back this week as well. The Seahawks are coming off their bye and a monster defensive performance vs. the Giants on MNF. I expect Burrow to fare better than Primetime Daniel Jones.

Josh Dobbs $5200 (@ LAR) – Josh Dobbs is coming off a down week which should suppress his ownership percentage. Josh Dobbs’ rushing numbers were down last week but now gets a Rams defense that gave up 15/72/1 to Hurts on the ground.

GPP/Contrarian: Gardner Minshew $5000 (@ JAX) – “Mustachemania” returns home to Jacksonville for a revenge game! Minshew has proven to be serviceable as a starting QB in the NFL. The Jaguars defense is good but not overly daunting. Minshew is as cheap of an option as you can get at the QB position, and we have seen him show a solid ceiling.

(CHEAP OPTION) Bryce Young $5100 (@ MIA) – It hasn’t been pretty with Bryce Young so far this year and the offense has struggled to move the ball. However, garbage time still counts for fantasy purposes. Young was able to throw three TD passes last week against a tough Lions defense in garbage time. I expect Miami to blow out the Panthers, providing Young with enough garbage time to give us enough production at this value.

Running Back

Start of the Week: Raheem Mostert $6400 (vs. CAR) – De’Von Achane was placed on IR this week, unfortunately. The rookie has been sensational so far this season. Before Achane emerged, Mostert was putting up solid numbers himself. Jeff Wilson will likely be back from IR this week, but there is enough meat on the bone for both in this matchup. The Carolina Panthers have been dreadful against the run this year, and Miami will likely find themselves with a large need running out the block. Jeff Wilson $4300 is playable as well for these same reasons.

Kyren Williams $6500 (vs. ARI) – The Cardinals haven’t been effective at stopping the run this season. Mixon wasn’t efficient last week, but he hasn’t been efficient all season. Kyren Williams is seeing enough volume that I expect him to find success.

D’Andre Swift $6100 (@ NYJ) – Swift gets a matchup with the Jets. The Jets have been better against the pass than the run this year. The Eagles should be in control of this game and in a position to run out the clock.

Roschon Johnson $4600 or D’Onta Foreman $4400 (vs. MIN) – If Johnson clears concussion protocol, I’m playing him. Otherwise, it’s Foreman. Either way, I am using the Bears starting RB against the Vikings. The Vikings aren’t the best matchup, but we won’t find this volume for this price anywhere else.

*If Miles Sanders is out, Chuba Hubbard $4300 (@ MIA) – If Sanders misses Week 6, plug in Hubbard. Hubbard sees work in both the run and pass game, so he is game script-proof.

Cheaper/Lineup Filler: Emari Demercado $4900 (@ LAR)

Wide Receiver

Tyreek Hill $9300 (vs. CAR) – Tyreek Hill is always a threat to be a slatebreaker. He has gone over 140 yards nine times already in his Dolphins career. This game will not remain close, but Tyreek Hill should get his on Donte Jackson before that happens.

Cooper Kupp $9000 (vs. ARI) – Picking up where he left off last year, Kupp was a target hog in his first game back. The Cardinals rank 25th against the pass, which means they’re going to have trouble slowing Kupp down. Kupp is a PPR machine and should find the endzone for the first time in 2023.

Ja’Marr Chase $8300 (vs. SEA) – The squeaky wheel treatment never fails. I had Chase as my favorite WR start last week after his postgame comments about being open, which led to a 15/192/3 line. Chase gets to follow that performance up with the 32nd-ranked defense vs. WRs. He will be a highly-owned chalk play after last week, but Chase stays hot in Week 6.

DJ Moore $6500 (vs. MIN) – 8/230/3 looked like it would be the high-water mark for a WR in Week 5 before Ja’Marr Chase. DJ Moore has posted a 16/361/4 line his past two games and now gets the 31st-ranked defense vs. WRs. Moore will be another high-ownership chalk play, though.

Calvin Ridley $6700 (vs. IND) – Ridley is coming off a 7/122/0 line against Buffalo in a game where it seemed he was always open. In Week 1 against the Colts, Ridley had his best game of the season with a line of 8/101/1. He gets the Colts again in Week 6. Zay Jones is also in danger of missing this game as well.

Jordan Addison $5700 (@ CHI) – Justin Jefferson was put on IR this week. His 12 targets per game need to go somewhere. I expect these targets to be split relatively evenly between Hockenson/Osborn/Addison.

KJ Osborn $4400 (@ CHI) – See Jordan Addison above. If you need to save an additional $1300 on Addison, plug in Osborn.

Josh Downs $4100 (@ JAX) – Josh Downs is coming off his best game as a pro yardage-wise. Downs has quickly become a favorite of Gardner Minshew and now gets a defense in the top 10 for yardage and TDs allowed to WRs.

Rondale Moore $3500 (@ LAR) –Rondale Moore saw 3/50/0 rushing in Week 5 and 3/54/1 line rushing vs. the Cowboys in Week 3. James Conner is on IR and vacates a large amount of volume/production in the Cardinals offense. I can see Rondale Moore playing a joker-type role like Cordarrelle Patterson for a Cardinals offense in need of playmakers. For this price, Moore should give us solid production as a lineup filler.

Contrarian/GPP Play: Drake London $4800 (vs. WAS) – Drake London gets a Week 6 matchup with Emmanuel Forbes Jr. Forbes was the CB who matched up with AJ Brown in Week 4 and DJ Moore in Week 5. Both put up monster performances. Drake London has the talent to put up a monster stat line. Let’s hope his QB can oblige.

Tight End

TJ Hockenson $6600 (@ CHI) – Hockenson is likely going to be the largest beneficiary from Jefferson’s absence. Hockenson could become the top TE in fantasy for at least the next four weeks. Hockenson has a Week 6 matchup with the Bears that just allowed 9/77/1 to Logan Thomas. Giddy up.

Kyle Pitts $3500 (vs. WAS) – As I mentioned last week, Kyle Pitts offers the most upside in this price range. He is arguably the only TE that can take any reception to the house. Both TE’s have proved viable for Atlanta, which is rare. Washington did allow a TD to Kmet in Week 5, as well.

Jonnu Smith $3400 (vs. WAS) – Jonnu Smith has been seeing incredible volume that you don’t see at this price range for the TE position. He has had at least five receptions in three straight games. This will give us bang for our buck if we’re looking to save on the TE position.

Logan Thomas $3500 (@ ATL) – Logan Thomas has seen volume when healthy this season. He posted a 9/77/1 line against the Bears. The Falcons just gave up 7/65/1 to Dalton Schultz. Another good value.

D/ST

Buccaneers $2300 (vs. DET) – The Buccaneers have quietly had a strong defense this season, posting double digits in three of four games. On paper, the Lions offense is not a matchup you would typically attack. However, the home/road splits on Jared Goff are well documented. Goff has been far less prolific outdoors away from Ford Field. I think the score will be close in this one, and the Bucs should provide some value for the price.

Lions $2700 (@ TB) – The other defense in this matchup is viable too. Baker Mayfield has done a good job protecting the football this season but can be prone to sacks/mistakes. The Lions defense has been improving, and their confidence is growing.

Texans $2900 (vs. NO) – Derek Carr is still clearly not 100%. He is not pushing the ball down the field, and most of his throws are close to the LOS. For this price, I should see some return on investment.

If you can afford them: Dolphins $3500 (vs. CAR), 49ers $4000 (@ CLE), Eagles $3800 (@ NYJ)
